@JamieH2000 Just so you know, my re wasn't the one to suggest EPP. I did, based off of what I've learned here. She told me that it works for some and not so well for others. I think she wanted more conclusive studies done before she recommended anything different. She isn't opposed to new things or even supplements; she just wants conclusive studies before she recommends anything. Did you do lower dose stims? HGH?

@kp214- I did HGH and I did do estrogen priming with ganirelax before micro dose Lupron and high amount of stims this time. I have since read that micro dose Lupron can be bad for DOR and cause poor egg quality, which seems like what happened to me maybe since I had at least 4-5 follies and they only retrieved 2 eggs (I would have expected more retrieved, even if they had been immature). Based on my research, there is no such thing as an empty follicle, but when an egg isn't retrieved, its because the quality was so compromised it stuck and it couldn't be aspirated during ER. I am interested to talk to my current RE and see what they thought happened... since my AFC and AMH aren't horrible and I have seen others with similar or lower numbers get wayyy better results than I have. Hoping I just haven't found the magic formula yet. I am thinking lower doses of stims may also be key, since I did best during IUI with really low doses and no suppression. It seems like you have finally found the one that works for you! Do you have an ER date?!

@JamieH2000 I didn't know that about lupron. I used that the first two cycles. I did know it might over suppress me. I think the lower doses with the estrogen priming may be the right protocol for me. Hang in there. You will find the right one for you.

I've been watching this board for a while, but not able to post because I am new to the Bump, and infertility for that matter I've been silently cheering you all on for a while! This is all fairly new to me, but I guess I should introduce myself. DH and I have been TTC for 22 months, zero pregnancies, zero answers. We are in the "unexplained" category. I am 30, DH is 32 all labs, tests, imaging studies come back normal. We tried on our own for 9 months, saw my OB with oral meds and TI for several months, moved on to an RE, did 5 failed IUIs (3 with injections), all ending in BFN. Our last IUI looked great! My RE was really hopeful and somewhat surprised nothing happened. Now we are currently at the beginning of our very first IVF cycle. I started stims on Saturday had my first estradiol check today and plan for more blood work and sono on Thursday. Planning for ER sometime about a week before Thanksgiving, and if all goes well fresh transfer just before Thanksgiving. To add to all the craziness you go through in so many months of TTC and no answers, add on top of that, that my profession is a NICU nurse. So I have a extra bit of paranoid craziness when it comes to all things babies and the making of them I am so excited I am finally able to post and join this awesome group! Congratulations to all of you that have gotten BFPs this time around, and for those that are still waiting for that BFP, you are not alone, keeping all of you in my thoughts and prayers!!
Adoc86 - I'm at 6 days past egg retrieval, and I'm still bloated and uncomfortable. I couldn't even walk for three days without pain. I hope it clears up soon!

I am on lupron/follistim/menopur, and plan to do HCG trigger. I have done follistim in the past with IUIs and responded well with 3-5 follicles from injections and oral meds, but no pregnancy. So I am very hopeful I will respond well with all the injections. I think being a NICU nurse has been good and bad. It has definitely helped with injections. I was comfortable with mixing and drawing up meds, and comfortable with needles. Only I am not usually on the receiving end:/ It doesn't help the baby fever being around babies everyday. I have seen lots of couples come through the NICU that have been through years and years of infertility, so for me that has always been a nightmare that something like that might happen to me. But here I am at almost 2 years TTC, and I am surviving. It is not a joyous journey, but at least for now I am surviving. I've seen a lot of tragedy in families in my career. Pretty much every family that winds up in the NICU is experiencing tragedy on some level, and I think years of exposure to that has equipped me with an interesting set of tools to cope with tragedy of my own. I really do love my job though, there are a lot of really happy stories born from tragedy that I get to see too. So I try to remind myself often that everyone was their own issues they deal with every day, no matter how bad things may seem, there is probably someone out there going through something worse than I am, and that my turn is coming...someday some how I truly believe I will be a mother. Just finding out the when is the hard part. So I hope and I pray that every month is THE month, and pray for patience and comfort when it isn't. This kind of outlet is very helpful. Sharing my thoughts with those who understand first hand, and reading what everyone else has to say:) Sorry for such a long post, guess I have had lots of thoughts brewing lately!
@jildsm215 oh lovely! My nurse called me today to check in and said that I should expect to be bloated for about two more days, but I don't see this going away that quickly and it seems from what I've seen online that most people struggle with it for at least a week. I honestly never would have imagined bloat to be this uncomfortable - I think its much worse than the actual pain that came with the ER. I hope it doesn't hang around too much longer for you! It has GOT to be on its way out, right?!
@ljsmith805 welcome! Working in the NICU must be difficult given the circumstances, but I imagine its an extremely rewarding job! I hope you find better luck with IVF!

Its everything i read here and research that make me ask her different concerns...I still wish you were a few days ahead of me so i could've tried EPP...i think i'm on day 10 and i'm no where near ready...and first cycle i had follies ready by day 9 with the same protocol. Just got an update. Of my 5 embryos 4 are now 4-cell and 1 is still 1 cell. I am assuming that one is a dud, but the nurse said it could just be behind and might start dividing though I doubt it. This a dumb question - but if I had my ER on Monday does that make today day 2 or day 3? Do you count the day of the ER?

I forgot how nervous I get when they start calling with results. I saw
my clinic's number pop on my phone and my stomach nearly jumped into my
throat. Also, 2 out of the 3 embryologists do not speak english very
well so it's an added stress to really decipher what they're telling me.
My next update will be to see how many made it to day 3 on Saturday.
It's at this point, I think, where we hope to start to see a positive
change from last cycle.

@JamieH2000 Just so you know, my re wasn't the one to suggest EPP. I did, based off of what I've learned here. She told me that it works for some and not so well for others. I think she wanted more conclusive studies done before she recommended anything different. She isn't opposed to new things or even supplements; she just wants conclusive studies before she recommends anything. Did you do lower dose stims? HGH?

Its funny that you mentioned it to your RE, I feel like i'm completely following suit. Its everything i read here and research that make me ask her different concerns...I still wish you were a few days ahead of me so i could've tried EPP...i think i'm on day 10 and i'm no where near ready...and first cycle i had follies ready by day 9 with the same protocol. Just amazing how different our bodies react each time.

AFM - retrieval was today. They aspirated 57 follicles, and found 22 eggs (too drugged up to recall if they said mature or not) actually glad they made me do Lupron because I would for sure have OHSS. Will know tomorrow about fertilization report!

-IVF #1-Follistim and Menopur= BFN
***11 Eggs, 10 mature, 8 fertilized, transferred 1 (day 5) 2 made it to freeze
-FET #1- Transferred 2, day 5 embryos =BFN
-IVF #2- Follistim and Menopur = BFN
***11 retrieved, 8 mature, 6 fertilized, transferred 2 (day 3), 4 made it to freeze (Follistim and Menopur) = BFN
-FET #2- Transferred 2, day 3 embryos = BFN
**Changed doctor**
-IUI #4- natural cycle = BFN
-IUI #5- Follistim (5 eggs) BFP- lead to Miscarriage
-Laproscopic Surgery for Endometriosis, Polyp removal and Cyst removal.
-IVF #3- Menopur, Follistim, Lupron, Ganirellex- BFP lead to Eptopic Pregnancy
***11 Eggs retrieved, 10 Mature, 8 fertilized, transferred 3 embryos (day 3), 0 made it to freeze
-Lapropscopic surgery- Removal of Fallopian Tube
-IVF #4- Estrogen Priming with Vivelle dot, Menopur, Follistim, Ganirellex- BFP
***15 Eggs retreived, 11 mature, 11 fertilized, 2 embryos transferred (day 3), 2 made it to freeze
Found out I was positive for MTHFR Gene Mutation during TWW of IVF #4

spring512 6 PGS tested eggs is great!!! That's awesome that they'll let you do two. My clinic will only transfer one if it's tested. Good luck!!

@kp214 Now we just have to wait until the 26th to start stims. On BC until the 21st. Hopefully the suppression will help with OHSS. I'm told that since I have a "higher than average" reserve, that is a risk.

I forgot how nervous I get when they start calling with results. I saw my clinic's number pop on my phone and my stomach nearly jumped into my throat. Also, 2 out of the 3 embryologists do not speak english very well so it's an added stress to really decipher what they're telling me. My next update will be to see how many made it to day 3 on Saturday. It's at this point, I think, where we hope to start to see a positive change from last cycle.
