@LilyASF42 or be like my son who was like Eff a sticker! Hence why I had to buy tiny dinos! Ahhh crazy kiddos! I loved me some stickers when I was a kid!
Our toddler showed interest and pottied regularly at daycare around 21 months. But quickly lost interest... were just over 2 years now and it's very hit or miss even at school (the bigger kids moved to the preschool room so now she's on the older end of her room).
We're not pushing it right now. We're currently struggling with a sleep regression and big girl bed transition.
oh the big kid bed! another dread! I'd like to keep him caged as long as possible, please and thank you! ;-) But yes.....that will be inevitable as well :-p
I went for a two mile walk today. Like the first time in a long time since it finally feels nice enough and not blazing hot. Also I was babysitting a friends son so I got to try out the double I bought for when baby gets here, and I'm in love! I have the contours options tandem I think it's called. And they were both facing forward, but about halfway through I turned the one so they could face each other and they loved it! It was one of my little moments- omg we are having a third in just a few short months! I'm so excited. I was excited before, but it was just a moment that hit me and made me think about it more.
I voted and am slightly annoyed that I did not get a sticker.
Harumph.
I voted absentee a couple weeks ago and that was one thing I realized is now I don't get a sticker Still worth it to not wait in line but I am probably more disappointment than I should be!

My son started potty training at 18 months thanks to Daniel Tiger's potty episode and song. He peed on his little potty right away and was so proud (for maybe a week). Then since I thought he could do it, I was frustrated when he wouldn't. He wasn't ready! We left the potty out as an option and sometimes he'd use it. But it wasn't until after turning 3 that he was fully interested. We went straight to undies, had some accidents sometimes, but he quickly got it. Ps- he'd been staying dry overnight since ~12-18 mo old. I credit that to his cotton prefold cloth diapers & him recognizing he didn't want to be wet. But who knows? Maybe it was just coincidence/luck?
By the common standards I've heard (staying dry overnight, pulling down pants on their own, etc), neither of my kids were ready to start potty training, but they both trained really fast (at least it seemed fast).
Starting at around 18 months old or so we started talking about using the potty and making a point to show it to them and explain it. We also let them try sitting on it (with a potty seat on it) and talked about how fun it would be when they started using the potty. They were basically just learning what it was about and practicing to sit on it, flush it, etc.
At 2 they move up to the next class at daycare and they start going to the potty every 2 hours. Everyone has a turn sitting on the potty and if they use it fantastic and everyone claps for them, if they don't it's not a big deal. We switched them over to pull-ups (the huggies, because of the recloseable sides, so you can take them off like a diaper or pull them down like underwear) for convenience of the frequent potty breaks. We roughly stuck with that routine on the weekends, but it was probably more like every 3 hours that we sat on the potty. By around 2.5 both of my kids were completely day-time potty trained for poop and pee.
DD was staying dry consistently at night at around 3 or 3.5 so wore a pull-up at night until then. DS just turned 3 and stays dry overnight most nights, but not enough that we've moved him from bedtime pull-ups yet.
And we used m&ms. But he was clearly ready. We just asked him all the time and eventually was like "oh I'm a big guy now and big guys don't need diapers"
as if this election wasn't enough of a sign that the world is coming to an end, now toblerone is changing it's shape! that's it! I quit! let the rapture take us now! ;-p
+1 to being right before 3 and wanting to do it. For my kid, she could do it but didn't. Stubborn like me. We took her to look at a preschool, she loved it and we told her she couldn't wear diapers there, only potty. THAT DAY she started peeing and pooping on the potty.
My son turned 2 at the end of August and he's still not ready to potty train. The daycare and us at home have tried every now and then and he fights it so we just let it go. We'll keep trying until we see that he's open to the idea. He still has speech delay (although it's coming along nicely) so I'm thinking once we've got even better communication, he may be up for a new milestone such as potty training.
I've always been told not to force it on them if they're not ready or it's going to get ugly fast and will probably just prolong the whole process in general.

Yes @lct2008 - I just went looking for the TW Tuesday thread so this misery could enjoy some company. I don't even get any company except this tots on point 30 rock photo!!!
@lct2008 Yes!! This week is dragging by so slowly! I just want it to be thanksgiving already!
I booked our hotel room for visiting my parents for Christmas today. This is the first time we've done that but DH hates staying with my parents. They only have 1 bathroom and our choice for sleeping is to sleep apart on two twin beds or together on a small sleeper sofa. DH has a bad back and my back isn't doing so well this pregnancy and I'm sure we'll both enjoy stretching out on a king bed after an 8 hr car ride. I'm not looking forward to the conversation with my parents though as i know they expect us to stay with them. We are also secretly hoping they use this precedence next time they come to visit us...

Random complaints: 1) The fish pills did not annoy me for the longest time but in the past three days have left me feeling like a burping fish sewage monster. Ugh ugh ugh.
2) Anyone else start with the "smooshing foot under ribs" phase yet? I seem to recall this happened a lot later with DD so I'm not even sure it's LO but damn it's uncomfortable.
Procrastinated for ages on this report that was due today. So of course I'm sitting at my computer at home, at midnight, kind of working (and going online for election coverage) and cursing my slacker self from last week. I've got another 2 hours in front of me before the stupid thing is ready. And of course I've got an early dr appointment tomorrow. I really know how to shoot myself in the foot.
If ever there was a week to be off facebook, this is it! I'm working at home today, and very happy to stay in my pregnancy bubble and try to clean up around the house.
I just felt little kicks above my belly button for the first time last night. So she must be hanging out lower. Or I'm 25 weeks, maybe the rib fun will begin in a few more weeks
Question for those of you here knowledgeable in taxes: Open enrollment is this week at my work and I have the option to opt in to a Childcare Care FSA for up to $5000. Is this more of a tax benefit than taking the childcare tax credit at the end of the year? From what I've read it appears so, but I wanted to confirm with someone who has more knowledge on the subject!

So I remember researching this and coming to the conclusion that the FSA is the better option, but I'm totally blanking on why that was. My brain hurts today.
Ugh, so I totally jinxed myself. I was so happy I didn't have to host Thanksgiving this year...then I got a call from my brother in law last night that he and his fiancé have decided that they are, in fact, going to come visit for Thanksgiving (they had said they weren't coming like 2 weeks ago)....and my grandparents might be going out of town....so now I have to host . It'll probably be fine, especially if grandparents go out of town, cuz then I'll just be cooking for 4 people...but I just wanted to relax!!
In light of these difficult past 24 hours, my new big girl bed comes in today! DH and I are going sheets/comforter shopping today. I am so excited to be able to stretch out and not be told to scooch over!
@LivingLaVidaGinger we got our "big kid bed" about 2-3 weeks ago now. It is amazing to have so much room! Yet somehow when DS comes to lay with us, he always ends up, on top of my head. lol
No matter how big the bed is my husband ends up diagonal and i end up on a tiny bit nearly hanging out over the edge. Im a bit of a blanket hog tho so it evens out.
I love my king sized bed! We got it when we moved in a year ago and man it feels good to stretch out. Of course, my dog peed in it this morning. Again. So that was like the cherry on top of a depressing day.
1. Passed my GTT (yay!) 2. Got the TDAP and flu shot today- one in each arm and they are both burn-a-nating. 3. My mother effing HCT, HGB, and RBC went DOWN. WTF.
DD1- Aug11 Angel Baby- June13, said goodbye Oct12 DD2- Aug13 DD3- due Feb17
I'm hoping once we finally move we will get a king size bed! We currently have a queen and DH just doesn't understand that even though I'm smaller than him I need more room on the bed! Though with my big pregnant belly I'm not sure I am that much smaller width wise anymore... Plus with my body pillow that I need for my back we just need more space.

+1 to wanting a king size bed eventually. My husband is a bit of a restless sleeper and hogs the blankets allll the time which can be quite frustrating. I often wake up to having no blankets on me and have to wake him up so that he can untangle himself to give me some back. What a process.
