Are you going to schedule them to do housework while you nap before or after you give them the letter about not allowing them to see the baby? This seems so absurd to me.
If I'm remembering correctly, which I def could not be, the letter was about dropping by unannounced while her SO was also home. So anytime after SO goes back to work and she is alone with LO is when I think she is talking about.

Weird question - anyone getting samples of formula/baby related swag yet in the mail? I don't necessarily want them, but we have a big mailroom for my neighborhood and small mailboxes and I know I've been screwed out of promotional things in larger boxes before. I can request the post office hold boxes for me if I'm missing things. I feel like when I was pregnant with DS I was getting a bunch of freebies in the mail. Our mail person is the literal worst and doesn't deliver packages that have delivery date deadlines because they can't go in the mailboxes so he gets them out whenever he feels like it.
@DiFazette in the past month, I've gotten 4-5 sample boxes. Diapers, wipes, and formula from 2 different places. I'd possibly look into getting boxes/packages held.

Our dog did the same thing to both of my sisters when they were pregnant and when the baby was little. He'd follow them everywhere and just look at them like "are you ok??". Dogs know what's up.
Yay for Election Day! It's almost over! We only have to get through about 12 more hours of dumb facebook posts then hopefully nothing for a few years! *fingers crossed*
@LandJ13 the letter was about unplanned visitors both when DH is at home with me and when he is back at work. We are definitely not denying or restricting people from coming over, or from holding the baby, we are just asking that they respectfully contact us to plan in advance. Yes, our letter had the risk of coming across as rude or over bearing, but it was the best way that we could express our wishes to everyone uniformly, and no one has made any comments about it in a negative way. In regards to having someone come help clean, that refers mostly to my mom as she has been the most vocal regarding her desire to come help once DH has returned to work in any and all ways needed. I am sure we will get other offers to help, and we will continue to be grateful for anyone that wants to help, but it is not an expectation. Even if they just want to come hold the baby while I get things done, we'd be fine with that, just schedule it first.
**Edited after re-reading original comment for clarification. We gave everyone the letter back in July when we were getting a lot of questions about our intentions regarding labor and when the gender ultrasound was occurring. There were a lot of the same questions being asked by a lot of our numerous sets of parents, so we thought it would be easiest to give everyone the same information. All of our family already knew we do not like unplanned visitors, so it was just reiteration of our previously stated boundaries, in addition to letting them know that we were letting the gender be a surprise, that we would prefer that no one be at the hospital while we were in L&D, and to give them general information about classes in their areas and vaccinations (whooping cough). Again, it may have come across as too much, but at the time, it was the best way for us to communicate to 4 different households what boundaries we were setting at the time, and that we will be letting them know if anything changes.
So on an effort to make our Thanksgiving easier, on Saturday DH says "I'm going to fix the guest toilet upstairs." Now from most people, this would be great. But my DH can really get OCD about stuff, especially house stuff. He's taken 'making the bed' to 'rearranging and deep cleaning the entire room'. So 'fixing the toilet' changed to 'remodeling the entire guest bathroom':
@yellingbanana - this is fantastic. We have a bathroom that I feel is never clean because it is old and the grout is just icky and there are some cracked tiles... so my bf always jokes that I'm not allowed to clean that bathroom because I would just start gutting it!
@yellingbanana he looks so darn proud of himself, lol! We have our landlord coming out Wednesday to check our master bath shower/tub. Water is coming out of places it shouldn't and I'm at the point now where I'm gonna need that tub. Showers have become exhausting.

Oh man, I have no idea how he is going to finish that bathroom on his own before Wednesday next week. He is out of town tue-fri and working today! I'm getting ready to clean my room enough so that it's acceptable if the guests have to use our shower in our room. I'm really hoping they don't have to, I don't want them walking through our room to use the 1 shower for 10 people altogether that will be sleeping under my roof! I offered to do the tiling while DH is out of town, he looked at me like I was crazy.
In addition to just generally feeling unattractive the l&d nurse was making a list of symptoms when I was there the other day and she writes/reads out "swollen, puffy hands and fingers." I point out that I don't have that symptom and she replies that it looks like I do. I had to take off my wedding rings and show her that not only were they loose I have a sizer on my engagement ring because it falls off without it (lost a lot of weight before I got pregnant and swelling isn't an issue - yet). Having bigger fingers is something I get from my dad and grandfather, sister has them too. I've always been self-conscious about it, but always reassured myself no one notices these things but me. Well, apparently they do notice. Cool.
@Austenista I naturally wear a size 11.5 ring. So I get you on larger fingers. The nurse asked me and I also had to do the look how easy it slides off trick to get her to shut up.

On Sunday night was woken up by this sharp, lengthy pain in my upper abdomen and I was like, THIS IS IT! I am going into labor! Holy shit this hurts! And then it stopped and as I waited for the next one...I farted. It was gas. But in those groggy moments coming out of sleep I was PANICKING. I keep saying that I am ready for this squish, and on paper I have all the shit I need to make the best of an early appearance. But I realized Sunday I am terrified of going into labor spontaneously. What if I don't make it to the hospital? What if it happens in the middle of the night and there is no one to take DS and DH has to hang with him while I give birth ALONE? Again, maybe silly things to think about but there is nothing like the realization that you are, in fact, terrified of the moment you go into labor. Eeep!
Ok... my random. I hate the term/name Braxton Hicks... 1. It's too long to say... and it is annoying ... 2. It doesn't describe what it is causing confusion... it sounds like a law firm... 3. It's named after a man who never experienced one!!! Stupid. I could come up with 10 better names for them than that!
I think most of the lurkers were here for DiFazette from the TTGPU board.
@allicat89 YES so excited! I told DH he's taking me to see it, or else I'm going with my BFF. Not really a threat, because he knows I'm seeing it one way or another.

@sourlemon I'm with you on birth stories/labor threads, but like our birth announcements (maybe I just don't know her) or our other threads -HDBD bother me.

Why is PP pooping so awful. It is awful. I've tried everything. The nurses just gave me Colace+Milk of Magnesia+Prune juice so fingers crossed this is the magical combination I need before I resort to virgin sacrifice or biting the heads off chickens.

Do you have to actually poop to be discharged or are you just trying to go? I only had to pass gas, not actually poop, so I got to take my time with that one at home
@jennbaylor12 It hasn't been a condition of my discharge, but I've been here a week and I hadn't gone since before being admitted...it was causing me pain. >.<
But I FINALLY was able to go and even though it took me almost 45 minutes and a lot of deep breathing...I feel a lot better!! Hoping not every time will be like that..
@jennbaylor12 - I know it's a serious thing but.... I am definitely chuckling at the image of sitting in the bed, pressing the button, and then proudly announcing "I FARTED!" to the responding nurse.

@maamawaabangi I had a serious, three-year crush on a kid named Braxton, with a similar-soundings last name, in elementary school. So I always think of him!
