@mrsdaddario@laurad75 glad the IUIs went well! Hope the TWW goes quickly! I still have one week left and it is soooo sloooow. Just went on a little mini vaca with my family though so that helped, for 3 days.
@mrsdaddario So excited to hear about your response this month! That's great news. Fx crossed for you!
Thanks everyone for your responses to my questions. It's helpful to hear what your doctor's have said especially that injectables have a higher success rate. Our insurance won't pay for injectables until after 3 failed IUIs so I think I'd like to maybe try that if this cycle doesn't work. I messaged my doctor and he said we could try IUI some more but that the rates are low. He also recommended some options for IVF that we might consider. We are going to schedule to consult to talk through our options so I'm feeling much better.

Against my better judgement, I tested yesterday at only 8DPT. I knew it would be positive b/c of the trigger shot but it was like I just needed to see a positve. Well it was negative somehow. AF due in 7 days and I have all the symptoms she is coming. Going through this month after month (with one 11week loss) is so hard and just so freaking unfair.
Hey @JDW0325 try to hang in there yet this month; it's very early still. I'm 10dpIUI today and still trying to hold out hope despite a BFN this morning.

Fingers crossed for you @ReesaAnne16 !!!! I know, I am only 7dpIUI so I am very very early. I am just really negative nancy the last couple days. I can't help it!
@JDW0325 Bad girl for testing!! LOL. I'm sorry the stark whiteness was a slap in the face, but you are right. You are still so early!! You have time.
@ReesaAnne16 Oh I'm sorry you got that N result. 10dpiui is also still early, so hold on to that hope. Try not to test again! You don't need that anxiety
@JDW0325 that had to be hard to see the stark white negative when you were expecting to see a false positive from your trigger. It does start to feel really unfair that have go through this each month. The small positive is that now you know the trigger is out of your system and when you test again, you don't have to worry it might be a false positive.

Having a really hard time this morning. Appointment yesterday showed three eggs growing (YEAH), BUT two were on my blocked side, so really just one. Then the office has screwed up my gonal-F pen meds due to insanely poor communication. I knew things were going to be short, that's why I called them on Monday to ask about it. They said not to worry, so I didn't. Now I'm without my dose for this evening and they want me to buy a pen from them directly, for an additional 300+ dollars. IN addition to my order from the pharmacy that I'd ordered but won't be here until tomorrow that was 375. All of the fertility costs are coming from OOP. This is hard enough as it is without adding pure rage to it peeps.
So sorry to hear that @stella_700. Is there anyone else you can talk to at your doc office? Maybe the actual doctor or the manager? They shouldn't charge you for the pen when it was their mistake for you not having it.

@JDW0325 I'm sorry you're having a hard day. I hate seeing negatives. I stopped peeing on sticks all together because they always made me so cranky and my office requires betas. The chances of getting a positive (not from trigger) 8dpo is super low. Implantation often doesn't happen until 9dpo so there is lots of hope still.

@stella_700 Oh hell no! That is crazy!! They should give you the pen for FREE since it's their fault. Gonal is so expensive to begin with. Without insurance I think they wanted $4k for one pen! Luckily my insurance covered it but it's not something to tell you not to worry about! I'm so sorry and I truly hope you can get this straightened out in your favor.
Thank you all for the good thoughts and the outrage. They made it right, however I really didn't need the added stress yesterday. I do wonder what would of happened if I hadn't pressed the matter. Blessedly while my health insurance doesn't cover it, I'm on a plan for prescription meds +plus the arrangement with the clinic that doesn't leave me with 4K out of pocket. (Eek) Next appointment is tomorrow morning. I've recovered some from the depression from yesterday, I'm naturally pretty optimistic. Life does go on, and crying intermittently all day just gives me a terrible headache and makes me look terrible.
Thank you all. AF arrived super quick and today is now CD1, so we're on our way again, and the tiniest bit of hope has appeared. I'm still pretty bummed I won't be able to tell my grandma at Thanksgiving like I was hoping, but at least I can try again and maybe have it be a Christmas surprise. At least that's what I keep telling myself. :-) I have such trouble not planning things, which I think contributes to the depression when it doesn't work.
@stella_700 I just read your story and I am outraged for you, but so thankful they made it right. I can't understand clinics being that ridiculous when it's their fault. They have to know they're working with hormonal women that need support, not stress! FX for you!

So I have a question, that is also sort of a rant. I finally got insurance approval to start this next IUI cycle and my Day 3 should be early next week. I emailed my nurse to give her the heads up and she emailed me back with our treatment plan, which includes 100 mg Clomid. I have now done 6 cycles of Clomid with no response. All it's given me is a big cyst.
At what point did your doctors take you off Clomid and just start with injections? We added injections really late into my last cycle (like day 14), and then I surged before there was enough follicle growth. I want a more aggressive treatment plan, and I think that 6 failed Clomid cycles should be enough evidence to show a new plan is needed. Am I jumping the gun in requesting a new protocol? I feel like I am the doctor here which is a bit disheartening.
Momma to Amelia Marie (7/14) and Austin Samuel (11/17). Adding baby (girl) #3 on 7/21
@AmeliaBedelia I would think they should and would change it up! At least try Femara or like you said, injections. If it were me I would definitely ask the reasoning behind their decision and get feedback on your concerns! Best of luck to you
@kmallery08 I am the same way- constantly thinking like, oh I could announce at this gathering, or this time of year etc. To me, it's a fun little game I play with myself.....until that time of year happens and I am still in the same boat. It is then no longer fun, it just sucks ass! I am rooting for you that you can have some awesome news to share at Christmas!!!
Can I ask y'all a question? Have any of you had an IUI and then barely 5 days later your AF came? That happened to me this last cycle and I'm a bit freaked out. My doctor says that it's not normal per say, but that every woman has one freaky weird period a year and this might be mine for the year. She also still wants me to come in and do a beta. I've never had this happen before so I'm a bit scared.

@kmallery08 - fresh start with AF arriving! I do the same with trying to plan when we could tell people. Last month I actually bought a stuffed bunny hoping I could use it to tell my husband, I was pretty crushed when we didn't even get to trigger. FX for you this month!
@AmeliaBedelia - always ask if you think there's something more or just different. I'm sorry I can't provide an example but right on my intro package from my clinic is says that they want you to be highly involved, asking questions or requesting to be more aggressive if that's what you think is right.
Me: 37 DH: 37 - Married 10.2015 ❤️ Canadian DX: Endometriosis - Stage 4, DOR, RPL
@AmeliaBedelia I've never been on Clomid but I thought most doctors won't prescribe it after 6 months anyway? Regardless it is definitely time to move on. Advocate for yourself hard with this. Even to start Letrozole. A lot of women who have no response to Clomid WILL respond to Letrozole. Don't be afraid, you have to advocate for yourself because no one will help you the way you will help you. I'm sorry their putting you through treatments that don't work. That just makes no sense.
@Chartleib I personally have not experienced a period starting while doing a medicated cycle. But my issue is PCOS so AF is always not around lol. I do find it strange that's happened, burn if your doctor isn't overly concerned this one time I might just take it for face value. If this happens Loren than once I would start asking questions
@kmallery08 I do the same thing too. I'm always thinking ahead of ways I can tell people if I'm pregnant this cycle or figuring out what my due date would be. It's so hard not to do. I was really hoping to share at Thanksgiving too so I totally understand
@AmeliaBedelia I agree with what other said. I would advocate for yourself and ask to try something different. My sister didn't respond to Clomid but did respond to Letrozole/Femara.
@Chartleib I've never experienced that but it seems odd to me too. I've always thought that AF coming shortly after ovulation means your progesterone is low. So perhaps you had wonky progesterone this month or maybe you actually ovulated earlier than you thought. Did they have you on progesterone or test your progesterone a few days after your IUI?

@Katkirch@JWatt5@JDW0325 Thank you all. I'm glad to know I'm not the only one that starts planning way too early. I'm really hoping for that Christmas surprise this year.
@AmeliaBedelia I agree with the ladies above. If you want to try something new, communicate with your doctor. I did five cycles of Clomid and nothing else before I started injectibles with IUI, but I responded to the Clomid each time. It's hard sometimes to advocate for ourselves, but it's important to try. For your own peace of mind. If you don't think it's working, or you want to try something else, it's your body and your future.
@Chartleib I've never experienced that either, but I wouldn't panic. Our bodies, even when they are behaving, are unique, and can be set off by the strangest things. Cycles lengths can be changed by stress, exercise, medications, etc. I can only imagine how upsetting it must be, and I'm sorry for that, but please don't be scared.

@AmeliaBedelia as @Katkirch said you DEFINITELY have to be your biggest advocate. i wasted too much time just listening to doctors and not speaking up. Its my biggest regret. We wasted too much time.
@Chartleib I wouldnt get scared just yet. She's right in that our bodies all do wacky things sometimes.
SO i went in for an ultrasound this morning (CD11) and ended up getting my trigger shot before I left. RE says I only have 1 mature follicle and didnt sound pleased. But we're schedule for our first IUI tomorrow at 1 pm. I have a question for you ladies that i didnt think to ask earlier - RE didnt mention abstaining tonight and I'm a little worried that we may miss our window by tomorrow.. I almost always get a positive OPK on CD11 and ovulate CD12. DH doesnt have any issues but I am worried that his count may be down if we BD tonight. His collection time is 11:30 tomorrow morning. Thoughts?
oh and unrelated -- i didnt realize until it was too late that having a special character in my username would be a problem but I cant figure out how to change it. Any ideas?
@kmallery08 I do that same thing! I'm really trying to be optimistic about cycles and the nurse tells me that I'm supposed to assume I'm pregnant after each IUI. So I think about how and when I'll tell people during the TWW.
@stella_700 So glad you were able to get everything worked out with medication. Sorry you had the extra stress!
@AmeliaBedelia85 I agree you should ask to try something different, especially after giving it a shot and needing to go to injectables during a cycle. Never hurts to ask.
@Chartleib That seems strange to me. What's your normal luteal phase and do you know when you ovulated? If you ovulated early and have a shorter phase, it might not be weird.
@hoping&praying4ever, I surged before I could get the trigger and my doctor told me to have sex that night just in case, then my IUI was the next day. Our numbers were fine that morning. He told me as long as there aren't any known male factors, there will be more than enough for the IUI.
Thanks for all the encouragement. I called the doctor's office and spoke to the nurse. I told her my concerns and they are going to modify my protocol to start injections on Day 3. A part of me still feels like I shouldn't have to be making these requests, they should be modifying my treatment on their own because they are the "experts". Ugh.
Momma to Amelia Marie (7/14) and Austin Samuel (11/17). Adding baby (girl) #3 on 7/21
@ hoping&praying4ever I know my doc asked us to abstain the night prior as well so that his counts could be as high as possible. If it were me, I would abstain. If today is CD11, you ovulate tomorrow, and your IUI is tomorrow, you should be good to go. If you want to add an extra attempt in, BD tomorrow night after the IUI, and the next day. That's just what I would do, but if you want more clarification on what is best, you could always call your doctor to see what they recommend?

@AmeliaBedelia85 Glad you were able to get them to try something different! While it's frustrating to have to advocate for yourself sometimes, they're only human and sometimes just go off what they're used to. Some times it takes us asking to get them to reevaluate. They wouldn't have agreed to it if it wasn't a good thing to.
@AmeliaBedelia I'm glad you were able to change things around. I understand what you mean about wanting them to be proactive though, that can be discouraging.
I was telling DH the other day that the definition of insanity is doing the same things over and over expecting a different result. And while I recognize thats not 100% in fertility treatments, I think that explains how I feel about it.

@kmallery08 you are so right about the insanity. I feel like it comes in waves though, that somehow follows the 5 stages of grief each month. When I start to notice PMS symptoms, I am in denial that that's what they are, thinking they might be pregnancy symptoms. Then when AF hits, I still have it in my head that it might just be implantation or something. Then, I think about all the things I should have done differently during the month, and promise myself I will do better next time. Then, I get a little anger bubble that sits in my chest for a few days, mixed with a sadness that slowly fades as I sike myself up for the possibility of next month.
We aren't insane! We are just TTC!!
Wish me luck that today goes well. Checking to see how my follies look for this month!

@OGreat - Hi! I just noticed in your signature that you were found to have endo and that the follistim is causing ovarian cysts. I had the same thing happen during my first cycle and already I'm wondering if it happens again this month should I ask about changing something, even trying out Femara rather than injectables. I'm sorry you are having to deal with that!
@AmeliaBedelia Welcome to the board! Love the name!

@stella_700 I just read your story and I am outraged for you, but so thankful they made it right. I can't understand clinics being that ridiculous when it's their fault. They have to know they're working with hormonal women that need support, not stress! FX for you!

I would think they should and would change it up!
I am rooting for you that you can have some awesome news to share at Christmas!!!
edit to add another comment.
@AmeliaBedelia - always ask if you think there's something more or just different. I'm sorry I can't provide an example but right on my intro package from my clinic is says that they want you to be highly involved, asking questions or requesting to be more aggressive if that's what you think is right.

Thoughts?
@stella_700 So glad you were able to get everything worked out with medication. Sorry you had the extra stress!
@AmeliaBedelia85 I agree you should ask to try something different, especially after giving it a shot and needing to go to injectables during a cycle. Never hurts to ask.
@Chartleib That seems strange to me. What's your normal luteal phase and do you know when you ovulated? If you ovulated early and have a shorter phase, it might not be weird.
Ugh.

I was telling DH the other day that the definition of insanity is doing the same things over and over expecting a different result. And while I recognize thats not 100% in fertility treatments, I think that explains how I feel about it.
