Re: November IUI

    @JWatt5   I called this morning and they said it was likely too early for me to have ovulated and to keep the ultrasound on Wednesday. I don't know if I should have insisted on getting in sooner or just stick to the plan. Last cycle, I was on 75 iu and had 1 follicle at 18mm after 5 days of meds. This cycle I'm on 100 iu and only at 3 days of meds. I just don't want to miss a cycle.

    Thanks everyone, I'm glad to know it's normal to be super emotional/moody when on progesterone!
    @Chartleib It's never fun to get a negative even when you're expecting it, but glad you can move forward with the next cycle. FX the next cycle works out better for you.

    @kiwisun4385 I also remember eagerly waiting to make my first post, I don't know why they make you wait, but welcome!

    @persnickity I stopped temping this month because my RE said meds can make temps unreliable. But I hope they schedule your IUI on time next week to keep you on track.

    Hi Ladies - just checking in. Had my first IUI on Friday 11/4 and it went pretty good. It was a little more uncomfortable then I was expecting as they were having a hard time positioning the catheter but the pain was bearable. DH had a nice high count so hopefully that helps! So now I wait and try not to drive myself crazy. Keeping my fingers & toes crossed for all you ladies also in the TWW!!
    Had my first IUI on Friday 11/4 too. Did 50mg Clomid + Ovidrel trigger. Had two follicles. Dying to know if it worked, but also scared about the possibility (likelihood) it did not worked :neutral: . When are you testing?

    I can feel my anxiety going up. My due date from the MC is Friday - Remembrance Day in Canada - and I'm so worried about getting bad news Saturday that I'm having another cycle of poor responding. I just don't want anymore bad news.  I'm trying not to let myself get pessimistic but...easier said than done today for some reason. Maybe my cousin's pregnancy announcement and my best friend being due next week. I'm sooo happy for them but I'm pretty jealous too which makes me feel rotten.

    Question for you all - I just got a cycle update from my clinic (they typically send outlining what we did - how it went, etc.). This cycle we had some timing issues with my DH headed out of town for 5+ days. I responded earlier than I thought I was going to and we had to squeeze in the IUI. So the outline basically said that since we did have timing issues this cycle she'd recommend attending an IVF seminar and moving to that instead of continuing with injectibles + IUI.

    I don't know that IVF is in the cards for us now or ever.

    We had ONE month were the timing was off. Is this something that you think I should push back on? We've only done 2 IUIs and one TI cycle with injectibles and I think I have just started responding fairly well.

    Another reason I am thinking I should push back is my insurance covers 6 IUI cycles per pregnancy - and we're only on 2.

    FX this is all moot and this cycle worked (though I've been 'trained' through this process to expect the worst - something I hate).

    Thoughts?

    @madasm0530 you should definitely push back. There's no way they shouldn't let you do
    another cycle if that's what you want.

    @JWatt5 hang in there! Have you tried guided meditation? I've started listening to them on YouTube to help me calm down. I usually end up falling asleep while listening, but that's okay too!

    @JWatt5 my temp went back down to normal levels today. Apparently yesterday was a fluke.

    Big hugs to you right now. Having the anniversary date coming up with remembrance day is rough and then add in your cousin and best friend makes it even tougher. My therapist says it's okay to have bad days and to not feel bad about having those bad days. If you feel up for it, doing something nice for yourself can help.
  • Options
    @madasm0530 At only 2 of 6 into what insurance covers, I'd keep going. Especially if the only reason for the bad timing was work. Any way to block out time in the calendar in advance so that work doesn't impact timing again?
  • Options
    @madasm0530 - if it's because of timing issues they hell ya I'd be pushing back. But also hope that this cycle worked and you don't have to worry about it!

    @persnickity - super glad to hear that. It's so tough b/c so much rides on each step so when it seems a little out of whack it feels like the whole process is in jeopardy.

    Thanks @persnickity  @JDW0325 @OGreat - luckily work is nice and busy with fun project (If you can call Engagement Surveys fun but I'm an HR mgr so haha). That will help me keep my mind off things and then made plans with a friend for Friday night. :)

    @madasm0530 I would push back. Do as many as you're comfortable doing. The RE should be on board with whatever you want. I'm finishing up my sixth IUI, second from injectables and only now am I hitting the IF wall. If you can emotionally stand doing more cycles I suggest it. Though you may want to check if the cap is for 6 IUI's including medications. My insurance will cover as many IUI's as my RE orders BUT only with oral stims. They capped my coverage for injectables and IUI at three cycles.

    @madasm0530 I have to agree with the others to push back if that is what you want.  It is so important that you advocate for yourself because you know what feels right for you.

    I had another appointment today, and it looks like I might have a second follicle!! I'll go back Thursday to check, and I'm hoping IUI will be Sunday or Monday.
    Question, what do you girls (or guys) think for how long DH and I should obstain before the procedure? He has low counts, so I'm always worried about that timing. I've heard anything from 2 to 6 days! What do you think?

    how is everyone else coming along this month?

    I have two Aussies too! A 10 year old blue merle and an 8 year old mini red merle. They are the best!

    AFM---- I'm doing better- baseline on Friday to start another IUI! I went ahead and scheduled the IVF consult too (next week) even though I would likely do this month IUI and then one more before moving on. I am a crazy planner (as much as can be) so I just wanted to talk to her ASAP and kinda get things figured out a little. Hopefully this will all be for nothing though!!!!

    I am a little nervous about my Femara this month though. In the past I have always started taking it on CD 3. Well, when I called this morning to schedule my appointment they made it for Friday which is CD4. I called back once I realized and they said baselines are done CD 2,3,4 so it's fine. I mentioned in the past I have always been told to take my medicine starting CD3 so I was concerned, and she just said starting either day was fine and that was that.
    Anyone else switch up start dates like that?

    @JDW0325 Not sure on femera, but in general there a bit of wiggle room for starting meds. I started mine on CD 5 one month and CD 3 the next. Not a big deal.

    AFM, had an ultrasound this morning. Got 2 good looking follicles on my right side, one at 18mm and one at 14mm. One more day of follistim and then triggering.

    Our doctor wanted to move us up to a hybrid cycle this month with letrozole and gonal-F. Do you ladies on gonal-F always have a baseline ultrasound? With the extra meds and extra ultrasound it would have cost almost double what we're paying now. Plus, what if we have too many follicles, and then the cycle would get cancelled and it would all be for nothing?

    we just aren't ready to make that jump yet, so our RE is having us do another round of just letrozole at a slightly different dosing schedule.

    Ugg today has just been really hard.

    @persnickity - those sound like great follicles!

    @ReesaAnne16 - they do a lot of monitoring - but it's also to help ensure you don't end up with too many mature follicles since they can increase/decrease your dose. Its pricy stuff but based on the odds from the RE, really increases your chances of success. Good luck!

    Good luck @Chartleib!

    Is it weird that I have had ZERO side effects from the Progesterone?  Not only that, but it seems to have ixnayed my PMS.  Is this normal?

    @beary67 and @Lexa H. how is your 2WW going?

    So I just got awful news. My cyst that was drained two months ago is growing again and considered "functional".  My hormone levels are way over baseline and this cycle is cancelled. The doctor wants to do another month of birth control to see if it will shrink, but I am just over it. I told them no, I want it surgically removed.  I am so freaking up.  We were supposed to start injections tonight, and instead we are at least another month away.

    That sucks so bad @AmeliaBedelia. I'm sorry.

    I am am pretty sure I am ovulating before my trigger shot. I was told to come in Sunday for my IUI. The nurse told us to BD tonight. When I asked her if that would give DH enough time to rebuild supply before Sunday since we have male factor infertility, she sounded worried and said not to BD, but then was very curious about the last time we BD'd, saying that as long as it was less than 48 hours ago hopefully some sperm would still be there. I am freaking out alittle about going through with this IUI if I will have already ovulated by then.

    Oh @AmeliaBedelia, that's heartbreaking, and I'm sorry. It's so upsetting to be ready and then be benched because of something completely out of your control. I hope your RE listens to you and works out a plan that you feel comfortable with.

    @Chartleib Good luck tomorrow!

    @JDW0325 Good luck next week

    @MrsH0204 I am more than a little jealous of your lack of side effects to progesterone. It makes me feel as though I have a yeast infection! :(

    @OGreat , I'm sorry, I'm not sure what the timing is. Could you ask the nurse to ask the Dr. since she is uncertain?

    I had my baseline over the weekend. They said I had a large cyst and almost put me on hold, but the blood tests came back within normal limits so we were allowed to start. We started injections on Monday, and I go in Monday for my follicular US, IUI likely on Wednesday of next week. I can't put a finger on it, but I just don't have the hope this month. Last month, DH and I were both so ready, so excited, and so certain it was going to work. This month, IUI #3, we aren't sure. We're trying to be excited, and hopeful, but we both can't get back to the same level of hope and excitement. I think we're scared of getting there and being let down again.

    @OGreat I had the same concern before our IUI and decided to just wait it out, but asking the Dr instead of the nurse isnt a bad idea.

    @kmallery08 if it makes you feel any better i had every side effect to the 10th degree with Clomid.  The lack of side effects (and no PMS) with the Progesterone makes me wonder if i needed it more than we realized.  RE put me on it just bc its part of her standard protocol but supposedly my numbers were within normal range.  On another note, i just read your introduction and you've really been through the wringer!  I really admire you for pushing through.  Regarding your level of hope, i had pretty much none at the beginning of this IUI cycle, too.  But once the actual IUI was done, the hope and excitement started flooding in.  FX for you!!
