@kwolf002 when I had my retrieval in July, I had 43 follicles and my estrogen level was well into the 6000's. Unfortunately I did end up with OHSS. Fingers crossed that you are able to avoid it. Did they recommend a special diet for you?
@jodes727 they said you are doing great. They didnt even mention the count until I asked. My E2 was 1355 sat and now it's close to 5000. They just said you will feel full coming up. I don't feel sick or anything, but I know ohss can be a side effect even after the retrieval.
@kwolf002 before the retrieval I felt very full, but I did not think it was any different than anyone else was feeling. The day of the retrieval (a Wed) I didn't have any major side effects. The following day is when I started to feel feel very bloated and full and started to gain weight. By Fri I was feeling terrible...didn't get out of bed, very full and didn't want to eat/drink because I was so bloated. Over the weekend it just got worse and worse. Definitely keep an eye out for it! Good luck!
Hi ladies I need to catch up on the boards, but have a question for anyone in NEW YORK? I feel like I read some of you are in the tri state area and insurance does cover ivf? I need to change carriers this month and wondering who I have a better chance to get decent insurance to help cover this. My current plan covered iui but I'm OOP for ivf. We all know how expensive this is so was just curious if anyone had some tips in this area. Thanks so much ladies!!

I'm a total idiot! I thought my 1st stimming bloodwork was tomorrow but it was actually today so like a dummy I took my shots this morning and realized after I got to work my date for bloodwork was wrong. Doctor told me it's not a catastrophe and just take the gonal tonight and get blood drawn tomorrow morning. I had everything all written down but I swear all these meds are making me loopy! He told me not to be hard on myself, not a huge deal but still!
Doxy makes me sick too. All of this stuff makes my head pound. Trying to drinks lots of fluids...take the Doxy on a full stomach and not with milk!
I'm still so mad at myself! Take a look at my signature - I even wrote 10/24 blood draw. Duh!!!!

My first time posting on this board. I just started stims tonight for my very first cycle of IVF. Not sure what exactly I expected, but it was a lot easier to stick myself than I thought it would be. I'm on low doses of Gonal F and Menopur (37.5 iu of each) so I'm curious to see what kind of side effects I experience...

Not enough in storage to risk on IUI so encouraged to go right to IVF w/ICSI. Together since 2001. Married 10/2013 10/24/16 - Began stims (menopur & gonal f) for 1st round of IVF on high responder antagonist protocol. 11/5/16 - Lupron trigger. 11/7/16 - 13 eggs retrieved; 8 mature; 5 fertilized 11/12/16 - 5 day ET of 1 hatching embryo Beta scheduled for 11/28!

@JamieH2000 it sounds like you and i are in the same boat. i had 5 follies. i was fully expecting cancellation after 7 days of stims but i'm continuing and going back in on thursday. my e2 wasn't great at 289. Desperate times over here but keeping fingers crossed.

I don't know about the rest of you ladies but going through this process I have put on the babu weight without the baby WTH!!!! @winnie81 sorry ppl r harsh and don't even realize it (love that u have rescue fur babies, they're the best!) i'm sure u looked great. I feel pregnant with twins and starting to gain it in all the wrong places ugh!! This is not cute!!
@DDRGirlie good luck on your ER!! 15 is a great number, just think quality over quantity!! I have DOR and technically will be lucky to get 10 so they say, but after my first stemming cycle i got half. You're in double digits land and thats great!!
@adoc86 best of luck with round one, hopefully thats all you will need. Injections were tricky for me in the beginning. It effects so many differently so maybe you want feel any different

Isthisthereallife - Its great to have the testing done, be positive usually when one partner has something the other does not. Hopefully things will move along quickly and you want have that extra added stress! It would've been great for the IUI to work, and here i am going that it could happen naturally too. I just like to at least have the hope every cycle, at least i know i tired. I too have to much stress that i just need to get rid of!

@Knottie39402101 it sounds like ur off to a great start! hope all ur follies continue to mature together! I try to go to acupuncture and I can't afford it and don't love it actually. Maybe i should try a foot massage that might help me relax more. However a massage is great to help keep everything circulating and they say thats what acupuncture is suppose to help with SO it is something

@Hopeful_mom I'm also on the NYSHIP plan because my husband works for the state. I believe the NYSHIP plan is only open to state employees. Although I know GHI and Aetna have some IVF coverage because my doctor takes both.
It's so wonderful to see everyone progressing. I've seen some great retrieval numbers! and awesome follies. Don't get down if you don't have a lot of follies at first. I started with only 6 and ended up with 15 mature eggs!
AFM: My Beta was yesterday and unfortunately was another BFN. We have 2 snowflakes so once AF shows up we're going right into an FET cycle!! Have faith and keep your head up!!
I don't know if I mentioned this before but I've been reading a devotional each day called "Anchored in Hope" it's a collection of 45 women's stories of their infertility journey whether successful or not. It's a wonderful book and is helping me remain positive on this journey! I highly recommend it!

@Colleen0516 Wow! That's incredible coverage! Lucky girl. I only get 6k for meds and 4k for procedures. Lifetime max. I paid all 3 IUI cycles OOP, and this 1 IVF round already uses up and exceeds my lifetime max.

I am amazed that you went from 6 follies to 15 eggs retrieved! I feel like I have only heard it goes down from baseline and most retrieve 50-75% of what is seen at baseline. This definitely gives me hope.

My doc prescribed crinone gel as the progesterone I take after ER instead of the PIO shots. Has anyone else done this? Kinda nervous because all I've read about is the shots.

I'm starting stims on 10/31 and retrieval should be mid-November. We've changed some things up since my first IVF cycle: -increasing follistim from 150 to 225 -adding omnitrope shot -possible fresh transfer (havent fully decided yet)
Not really sure what the omnitrope does- has anyone had this before? It's super expensive, so it better work!

LeFemmeViolette - Yay for getting started!! I am actually on Omnitrope right now, and my RE told me it helps get more, better quality eggs. It is soo expensive and even tho I have some coverage, insurance wouldn't cover it since its not FDA approved yet for infertility. My RE seems to think it can make a difference... so hopefully she is right for both of us!

Isthisthereallife we passed on the me and DH genetic testing...uffda now makes me anxious..which I guess is why we were able to move forward so quickly. Beginning of Nov will come quick! Hopefully only good results from the DH's testing. I am excited about the US on Saturday and starting stims but also nervous. And I am endlessly calculating when we might be able to do the FET transfer (if in Dec or Jan). I don't know why I am in such a rush (other than it feels like we have been TTC forever!!...just a little bit dramatic). @Hopeful_mom I work for Northwell Health and they cover 80% of 3 cycles and 15k of meds lifetime max. With this first cycle, Ive already used 11K. My IVF w ICSI is costing me 2K OOP. I know that CareConnect also covers some of the expenses as well if you want to look into that insurance.

I'm still in the thick of it. Had blood work today, Dr says to continue stimming, blood again on Thursday and U/S Friday most likely. Ladies, I'm running out of belly space for shots, my entire tummy is bruised, red, swollen! I'm on my 18th shot (I think, what's the point in counting?) and I'm exhausted! I work in a professional office and I resorted to wearing leggings today because I just can't bear having pants with buttons on my belly. My boss feels bad, she even caught me crying at the toaster yesterday...literally making toast and crying! I'm a mess! I've waited 3 years to do this and I'm running out of steam.
Okay, enough complaining from me!! We are warriors!

BecauseLove I know the feeling of being in a rush. In the grand scheme of things...I know a couple weeks doesn't make a difference. But at this point, it feels like a lifetime.
So how/why do you choose if you do a FET or a fresh transfer? I'm sure there is a logic behind it, but I don't know what that was. Since we aren't PGS testing, we were just told it would be a fresh transfer.

AFM, I just have my second monitoring u/s. Was a little less nervous than Sunday, but it was still stressful. I have 4 follies between 8-12 and 6 follies between 2-8 after 6 days of stims. 4 is the magic number to get to ER, but really hoping some of the others catch up. I will likely go back on Friday and estimated ER is probably Tues or Wed. I have heard that estrogen priming can make stimming longer... any ladies out there have some smaller ones that catch up quickly before ER?

AFM: Recently I learned about MTHFR gene mutation from a friend. She heard about it and thought it sounded similar to my story (high levels of homocysteine, low folic acid, multiple miscarriages, infertility). I had all my genetic testing done at my old RE and he never mention anything about it. All he did when my homocystiene levels were high, was put me on Folgard to increase folic acid. So since she mentioned it to me, I got tested again- to double check. WELLLL turns out- im postive. Im really annoyed because I feel like my old RE should have caught it, I feel like I have been wasting time and money since I wasnt treating it. Needless to say, Im really annoyed that I just learned this 2 1/2 years later; but thankful to have finally learned about it.

@collleen0516, what is this RE doing differently for you now that they know you have the mthfr gene mutation? I was told last Sept that I had the mutation, but there hasn't been much talk about it since.

It is so crazy to me that your first RE didn't catch something like this. I am praying that this cycle is your cyle!! Good luck on those two sticking!! When is your beta?

@jodes727 so, I dont know too much about the gene.. Im trying to learn about it. But I do know that it can cause blood clots that lead to miscarriages. It also is a factor for infertility (obviously lol) When they found out I was positive, she had me start taking 1 baby asprin a day, and if I get a positive beta test, they will start me on Lovanex. Thats all I know now. I have been on Folgard (my old RE discovered the high homocysteine, but not the mutation, the Folgard is folic acid.)

My first time posting on this board. I just started stims tonight for my very first cycle of IVF. Not sure what exactly I expected, but it was a lot easier to stick myself than I thought it would be. I'm on low doses of Gonal F and Menopur (37.5 iu of each) so I'm curious to see what kind of side effects I experience...

@DDRGirlie good luck on your ER!! 15 is a great number, just think quality over quantity!! I have DOR and technically will be lucky to get 10 so they say, but after my first stemming cycle i got half. You're in double digits land and thats great!!
@adoc86 best of luck with round one, hopefully thats all you will need. Injections were tricky for me in the beginning. It effects so many differently so maybe you want feel any different

Isthisthereallife - Its great to have the testing done, be positive usually when one partner has something the other does not. Hopefully things will move along quickly and you want have that extra added stress! It would've been great for the IUI to work, and here i am going that it could happen naturally too. I just like to at least have the hope every cycle, at least i know i tired. I too have to much stress that i just need to get rid of!

Maybe i should try a foot massage that might help me relax more. However a massage is great to help keep everything circulating and they say thats what acupuncture is suppose to help with SO it is something

It's so wonderful to see everyone progressing. I've seen some great retrieval numbers! and awesome follies. Don't get down if you don't have a lot of follies at first. I started with only 6 and ended up with 15 mature eggs!
AFM: My Beta was yesterday and unfortunately was another BFN. We have 2 snowflakes so once AF shows up we're going right into an FET cycle!! Have faith and keep your head up!!
I don't know if I mentioned this before but I've been reading a devotional each day called "Anchored in Hope" it's a collection of 45 women's stories of their infertility journey whether successful or not. It's a wonderful book and is helping me remain positive on this journey! I highly recommend it!

My doc prescribed crinone gel as the progesterone I take after ER instead of the PIO shots. Has anyone else done this? Kinda nervous because all I've read about is the shots.

LeFemmeViolette - Yay for getting started!! I am actually on Omnitrope right now, and my RE told me it helps get more, better quality eggs. It is soo expensive and even tho I have some coverage, insurance wouldn't cover it since its not FDA approved yet for infertility. My RE seems to think it can make a difference... so hopefully she is right for both of us!

I'm still in the thick of it. Had blood work today, Dr says to continue stimming, blood again on Thursday and U/S Friday most likely. Ladies, I'm running out of belly space for shots, my entire tummy is bruised, red, swollen! I'm on my 18th shot (I think, what's the point in counting?) and I'm exhausted! I work in a professional office and I resorted to wearing leggings today because I just can't bear having pants with buttons on my belly. My boss feels bad, she even caught me crying at the toaster yesterday...literally making toast and crying! I'm a mess! I've waited 3 years to do this and I'm running out of steam.

IVF#6 May 2017 // Antagonist didn't have time for Estrogen Priming...(4 ER, 3 F, 3B) (5AB, (2) 5BB) 2 PGS normal, yes!!
IVF#7 June 2017 // EPP praying this is it and then on to an FET!
So how/why do you choose if you do a FET or a fresh transfer? I'm sure there is a logic behind it, but I don't know what that was. Since we aren't PGS testing, we were just told it would be a fresh transfer.

mandasand - I feel you on the bruised tummy! I have been keeping track of my shots for fun, and I think I am at like 41 shots in 10 days or so! I am running out of spots to poke! How are your follies looking?!
AFM, I just have my second monitoring u/s. Was a little less nervous than Sunday, but it was still stressful. I have 4 follies between 8-12 and 6 follies between 2-8 after 6 days of stims. 4 is the magic number to get to ER, but really hoping some of the others catch up. I will likely go back on Friday and estimated ER is probably Tues or Wed. I have heard that estrogen priming can make stimming longer... any ladies out there have some smaller ones that catch up quickly before ER?
Diagnosis: Mild Endo, DOR (AMH of 1.5), Poor Quality Eggs/embryos, Displaced Window of Implantation (ERA Post Receptive)

AFM: Recently I learned about MTHFR gene mutation from a friend. She heard about it and thought it sounded similar to my story (high levels of homocysteine, low folic acid, multiple miscarriages, infertility). I had all my genetic testing done at my old RE and he never mention anything about it. All he did when my homocystiene levels were high, was put me on Folgard to increase folic acid. So since she mentioned it to me, I got tested again- to double check. WELLLL turns out- im postive. Im really annoyed because I feel like my old RE should have caught it, I feel like I have been wasting time and money since I wasnt treating it. Needless to say, Im really annoyed that I just learned this 2 1/2 years later; but thankful to have finally learned about it.

@jodes727 so, I dont know too much about the gene.. Im trying to learn about it. But I do know that it can cause blood clots that lead to miscarriages. It also is a factor for infertility (obviously lol)
When they found out I was positive, she had me start taking 1 baby asprin a day, and if I get a positive beta test, they will start me on Lovanex. Thats all I know now. I have been on Folgard (my old RE discovered the high homocysteine, but not the mutation, the Folgard is folic acid.)
