@kirstynikole we originally picked out photographer based on price of packages and that I knew her. She has become our favorite based on the relationship she develops with her clients. She took our wedding pictures, she's taken family pictures, and she will continue to be our go to simply because she cares to know us and what we want. And because she rocks at getting all the good candid shots! Not to AW all over the place, but this pic is my absolute favorite from our last family session, and it was actually in between takes!
Thank you everyone for the feedback!!! It's good to know how fellow moms & families view photos & their value. I know photos are often budgeted as more of a want than a need, so I always try to keep that in mind when pricing, but I also have to turn a profit. I know I personally always liked having digital files, however I always found myself taking forever to print them. I feel like so many people have CDs filled with images that are hardly ever printed or actually seen anywhere other than social media. Granted we are in a very digital age, but I always like having something tangible to include as well. I'm contemplating making my sessions a flat rate with X amount of digital images included(& printing rights), with an 8x10 & 5x7 print.
And yes, I am more of the candid, non-prop type photographer. I like to capture moments rather than just smiles, so I hear ya! And because we're talking candid, here's an AW for y'all of my son at his birthday party last month. Because, I mean, CAKE. And yes, that trance in his eyes is due to his love of cake
@BumpasaurusRex I keep seeing all your great name suggestions in the baby names board... if we can't get a boy name figured out soon, I'm just going to search all your posts in there to look for ideas

I've been busting my ass all day re-drawing my in-laws company logo & editing it via photoshop, because the graphic designer (my bro-in-law), can't seem to be bothered to find the original file or a high res. version of it. All I wanted was a non-pixelated version, so I could make some updated business cards for my H & FIL. Yeaaaaaa I might've tweaked the logo to look better, and now my FIL is floored with how "wonderful" it looks & asking me to do more stuff... yeeesh what have I gotten myself into! On a positive note, it's great when your OCD & perfectionism is appreciated!!
@kirstynikole I've got minor OCD but about the most random things. One time my sister tried to cut corners while cake decorating. She took classes and everything. I've never done it in my life, but after watching her start decorating a cake for my son's bday one year, I asked to help because she was driving me crazy. I ended up competing with her. We each decorated a cake (because we wanted 2 quarter sheets with different designs). Obviously I think I did better, but because of that she won't do any "work" in front of me or if she has to she asks me to not comment on her skills lol
But I don't know anything about computers or design.
kind of scary. My mil gets cold sores, and always kissed the kids as babies. She would get incredibly pissy if I told her she couldn't kiss this baby... especially over this. She tries to hide it. Looks like I'll just be making a no kiss my baby rule until after "cold and flu season" and make my H give mil the news.
@kswiger yes! This totally happens! That's why in our family, you are not allowed to kiss any baby on the face. Otherwise, you will get yelled at by everyone who has seen you do it. We only allow gentle kisses on the very top of the head or the soles of the feet, but even that is for very close people. My cousin had a baby last year and I still have not kissed him at all.
My H gets cold sores and won't kiss any of us until it's completely gone.
he's probably a normal person then. Lol my mil will pretend like the first sign isn't happening, and then if she kisses someone who calls her out, she says "I've been putting medicine on it" if it's super obviously there she won't try to deny it, or kiss anyone, but when it's first starting she plays dumb.
Happy Canadian Thanksgiving! Would anyone mind telling me how Canadian and American Thanksgiving differs? Other than the date, obviously.
They are celebrated for somewhat different reasons/different origins at first. Ours had nothing to do with pilgrims, assuming your really does. Some researchers say it dates back to around 1578, other say the 17th century in Quebec. Both had celebration meals to give thanks, one was for a safe passage (Frobisher-he even held a formal ceremony) and the other was more harvest related.(early french people and Champlain) Harvest related festival/celebrations were apparently common in many places in Europe so it makes sense the really early europeans did something similar when they moved over. It was held on different days in different months in different parts of the country until later.
Not to drag the conversation back too far, but has anyone gotten weird comments like, "you wear pregnancy well" or "it looks good on you"? People keep saying the weirdest things to me! I'm over here trying to enjoy the, like, 2 weeks when my bump looks cute and doesn't make me feel like a whale, but everyone commenting on it all the time makes me feel like it's much more prominent than I think it is.
@lfrank12 Indians fan here too!! I found out the day the Cavs won the finals I was pregnant. Then I have legit been feeling the baby move today like crazy and for the first time from the outside. I think it's an omen I had to keep flipping to another show bc I was getting too stressed!
