Ladies, I need your thoughts. My son's school is having a parent/teacher night that is also a potluck. I loathe potlucks because I always get anxious about what to bring. I decided on a Mediterranean dip with garlic hummus, cucumbers, tomatoes, artichoke hearts, feta cheese and kalamata olives. I also got pita chips for dipping. Now I'm worried it's not going to be received well because my SO literally said "Ugh! What are you trying to do?!" But he's an extremely picky eater. What do you all think? Should I run out and just get a damned cheese tray?
That sounds freaking amazing. Don't listen to him!
@homemake Thank you!!! When I saw the recipe I got excited about it, but then I imagined returning home with the dish 3/4 full and being known as the weird Mediterranean dip mom.

This sounds amazing. I would love if someone brought that to a potluck.
@foxrosy since it's for parents that would totally be more up my alley than a cheese tray.. I mean I like cheese too but yours sounds better! I'm sure others will bring more of the cheese & cookies type so yours gives a great variety!
My DD turned three today and it's like everyday I can see how small she still is, but at the same time she is getting more and more independent and I just know one of these days I'll turn around and she will be 13. It sucks how fast they grow Before this pregnancy I was 100% sure we would be done after this one and even just a few weeks ago I was 90% sure, but it seems like everyday it becomes more of a possibility that we may try for one more...
Anyone else remember the chick from The Art of Making a Baby? I was bored today and looked her up and apparently they filed for divorce over the summer.
Really?? I'll have to tell my BMB, we totally followed that ridiculous chick.
@foxrosy I would eat that dip so hard. Kalamatas? Artichoke hearts? Om nom nom. Tell your picky eater to sit at the kids table, the parents AND the teachers will love that dish.
@homemake yay, a true happy ending! I hope it was a BIG cookie.
@foxrosy I have a similar dip I've made a couple of times for parties and things, and it's always well received! I think people like a break from the usual potluck fare. I bet they'll love it.
@yogadevil of course! I found it on Pinterest by the recipe is so easy. I just layered hummus (any flavor you like), feta cheese, diced cucumbers and tomatoes, artichoke hearts, then kalamata olives. I drizzled olive oil and that was that!
Btw, it was a big hit!! One teacher demanded the recipe on the spot. Thank you for all of your assurances ladies!
@cantalopes24, she was SO over the top about what was "safe" during pregnancy. Do feel bad for the child obviously with the divorce but I can't imagine anyone would be surprised. I periodically would check back to the blog to see if they ever had another and read about the divorce. If I remember correctly her daughter is just a little older then my second.
@Gretchypoo it must be hard to be upset at that cute little face though!
My hamsters were funny this morning. I gave them their food and I always put in their healthy stuff first then treats on top and they both sat by their food dish giving me the evil eye until I put the good stuff in their bowl. They basically have a treat diet b/c I know they hide the non-treats so it looks like they need more food when they don't but it's too hard to say no to the little guys. Besides their treats aren't really bad for them and they do eat some of their good food too.

I need to give mad props to the teachers in the room for a second. Part of my job, my favorite part, is giving in-class programs about water quality to kids, mostly elementary and HS groups. I just did my first one of the year, 2.5 hours with third graders, and I am WRECKED. Dehydrated, faint with hunger, exhausted, had to pee so bad, I'm sure I don't have to tell you guys. So much respect for all of you teaching all day every day as you incubate.

Yeah she was pregnant at the same time I was but I was Oct 2011 and I think she was early winter or spring 2012.
we started our birthing class last night. I was the least pregnant of all the women in the class, but it'/ an 8 week situation and I wanted to get it out of the way before holidays and travel starts.
We are are taking a bradley class. So far it was pretty interesting and informative without being overly pushy of a certain agenda.
Looking forward to learning more. The midwife did say that almost 100% of their students successfully breast-feed. That was super reassuring for me.

@krob that is great to hear! We are starting a Bradley class next month, and it doesn't end until January. I was hoping they would go over breastfeeding, too.
Woke up, hopped in the shower and quickly realized that our water heater was kaput. Managed my whole shower in five cold minutes before telling DH that we needed to head downstairs to deal with the flooded basement... Not a great start to my day. May have had a bit of a breakdown while using the wet vac. It might not have seemed so dire if we hadn't just gotten notice of a tax escrow shortage from our mortgage company yesterday. Been a super expensive week.
@MLRocha your situation may be totally different, but we had an escrow 'shortage' because the mortgage company didn't have the account overage as high as they wanted.... . They sent us a bill for $600-ish... when there was enough in the account to pay the actual bill amount.
We ended up closing the escrow, and we just pay our taxes/insurance bill when they come. I already have our bills for 2016, and we have until Feb 28 to pay them, so even if they go up we have nearly 5 months to adjust.
Anyone here a technology guru?!?! My mac laptop has been telling me to update to he new OSX Sierra and started slowing down majorly, so last night I finally did. Now it continuously gets to the same part of the installation process and says it can't continue and I can't restart on the old HD. I haaaaaaaate technology when it doesn't work!!!!
Today is not my day... Broken laptop, dentist poking at my gums (still sore 5 hours later...), annoying parents, major delivery/choosing new hospital and Doctor anxiety, and trying to organize life for our PCS move to Tennessee in December... I may lose my mind over here soon! Can I go back to sleep and start over tomorrow?
For those of you attending bradley classes, are they at the hospital you're delivering at? Our hospital is currently on strike, so all classes have been cancelled, and I am getting nervous that we won't be able to get to a class in time...

does sound amazing tho!
