soontobeshrader I hear ya about the too many months to count! I am also doing Clomid 100 this cycle. How was your US or when is your US? Awesome mature follies going on? That is cool about the mountain getaway and a trip to MI. Where in MI is your sister? I went to college there and lived there for a bit too. Maybe you will get to go do some orchards while visiting.

We don't have anything planned for the fall. We live in the Catskill Mountains, so we are privy to the beautiful fall foliage already. But I really love to bake and try hearty cold weather recipes. So hopefully I have a lot of time to do that.

mrsdaddario Welcome! I am sorry to hear about your BFN

Hopefully Injectables are the magic. My temp dr. is switching me to clomid for 1 cycle after doing 7.5mg of Let...and if the clomid doesn't work they are talking injectables next. Has your Dr. mentioned anything about doing your IUI on a full bladder? I have heard that can make a difference. Oh gosh your part of the world sounds beautiful! We have also had color change start in my neck of the woods...but the big color changes wont be for another few weeks at least. I am so not a baker...but impressed by people that are. I have already started my fall cooking...thankfully I get a little more time in my life in the fall so perfect time to cook things up (often with sour cream as an ingredient lol).

FALL IS MY FAVORITE! We have such a busy fall but I don't mind at all. We're in MN so leaves have already started changing and it is so beautiful. I love tailgating at football games, decorating my front stoop, making chilis/soups, having windows open and no humidity! I am so basic.

@BecauseLove I've always been asked to empty my bladder for my IUI's. And I only recently, after lurking here, realized that a lot of ladies are asked to have a full bladder. I think I will definitely bring this up at my next appointment. What is the reason your doctor is trying you on Clomid again? I never tried Clomid, as my OB recommended I go straight to an RE. He started me on Letrozole. I have no response to 5mg, so all of my IUI's were done with 7.5mg. Also, they have you on Metformin? Did you show insulin resistance? I'm just curious because when I got my diagnosis, my blood work came back non-insulin resistant, so I was told Metformin would have no affect on me.

madasm0530 so frustrating about having to cancel a cycle!

mrsdaddario TWI and long winded-
The only time I have had any IUI success is with a full bladder. I read a study on it. Also seemed to help (maybe?) one of the ladies from another board I was on.

I am kinda a dr limbo (my Dr went on maternity leave starting in July-We ended up having a CP from the last IUI I had with her before she left...she was gone before we found out we had a BFP and still gone when we found out it was a CP)...her plans for us were based on most likely nothing happening. So while she has been out I have have seen the on call drs or whomever was helping to cover her load. Turns out my dr didn't leave super awesome notes...so I had to catch people up to speed. The new dr's were not happy with my last response to Let (my usual dr has said I respond ununiformily to Let...sometimes great sometimes nothing...which has drawn out my ability to do IUI's...we have done like 7 cycles and only got to try IUI's 2 times) so they upped my dose. That didn't work. So they wanted to try me on Clomid because the last time I took clomid we weren't doing US - it was so long ago now. So she wanted to try a cycle of that before possible moving me to injectables (but they aren't willing to move me to injectables until my official DR is back...so its kinda just a trial month I guess). The temp dr's have also asked at least a few times about us moving on to IVF...but seem to think it is worth us trying 4 total IUI's first...if we don't want to go to IVF quicker.

As frustrating as it has been to deal with new Dr's it has also been nice to hear different perspectives.

I was talking to another lady in my area that is younger than me that is going to the alternative care facility in the area (2 plus hours away) and she said that because she is 35 they are treating this like an urgent situation and have done almost double the dose I have ever gotten and for longer amounts of time. Anyways...that is interesting being my DR has said kinda repeatedly that it isn't that big of a deal that I am 36...and about to turn 37 (we started trying when I was 34).

Regarding the Meteformin. I don't have the symptoms of PCOS (other than being overweight and having irregular cycles)...my US tech though this last time did ask if I had PCOS so maybe they were finally seeing something different on the US screen. Anyways...so I am not diagnosed was PCOS but treated as if I do have it. It doesn't seem to make a difference (other than making me feel ill and have to go to the bathroom a lot).

Did you do any baking this past weekend? Did AF come?

@BecauseLove Oh wow. You've really been through the ringer. Hopefully you respond better to the Clomid!! It sounds like your office should all get together on your care. I think it's really unprofessional for doctors to up and leave for extended periods of time without fully explaining to someone else what type of care you've received and need. I hope you can find some unity between them until your doctor gets back! I do find it weird that they have you on Metformin. Especially if blood work didn't indicate insulin resistance. Honestly that medicine won't do anything for you except give you an upset stomach unless you have insulin resistance.

I didnt do any baking king this weekend! Just have been lazy! AF did arrive last night, full force this morning so counting today as CD 1. I'm shocked it came so fast and really happy it only took 2.5 days! I'll go in on Wednesday morning for baseline blood work and ultrasound and hopefully start my injectables this week! If I respond well I'm assuming I might even squeak in an IUI the last few days of the month, but I'll still count it as an October IUI as my true September IUI was at the very, very beginning of September!

What is the thing you are most looking forward to doing this autumn? Cooler temps and enjoying the outdoors.

I've been MIA because I've been feeling very sorry for myself. I had a really rough time after I got a BFN on my last cycle, and I'm just feeling so exhausted from all the pills. Especially the metformin. I don't have PCOS, but they still think it will help. The downside is that I basically have diarrhea every day and its just so draining. Yesterday I was just walking in my house and had an accident which sent me into a horrible state of mind. I've always had bad guts (I have IBS-D that is somewhat stress dependent) and between that and the metformin I feel like I live in the bathroom. Contemplating a liquid diet for a few days to just get some relief.

This weekend I am getting my hair cut and dyed (wowza my grey hair has been sticking out for almost 5 months). It is also my Dad's birthday so we will be celebrating. I have a friend and her kiddos that will be visiting from out of town on Saturday and Sunday is my SIL's baby shower - They are due in late Oct. Busy weekend but should be fun.

If we get a BFP this month my SIL/Brothers kiddo would go to school with my kiddo in the future.

mrsdaddario Sounds like we are in the same situation...maybe squeaking in a IUI at the end of this month if all goes well or the first days of Oct. My Dh is the 2nd so that will be sorta fun if it lands on that. Have you been taking injectables for awhile? How has that impacted things for you? I am hopeful that we will have good follies with the clomid. Will be interesting if we have multiple as I haven't ever had 2 follies even that were big at the same time. I also appreciate when AF comes fast not having to wait awhile...do you usually have to wait awhile after taking progesterone?

No baking...I totally get it. I also have been fairly lazy when I haven't been fairly busy. Hopefully you have been having some fun being loungy.

Not sure what the deal is with my drs..hopefully they figure things out some and the met well I guess I am willing to take it on the off chance that it has some benefit of some sort (other than making my tummy hurt and having to go the bathroom ALL of the time).

Looking forward to being Ku'd and not having to take it.

Do you take progesterone to bring on AF? Anyway you could be BFP and just not know it? Do you usually have mature follies by CD 12 US? I usually do a CD14 (or around then) US. I guess if it is a good follie batch I will have mature follies by CD 12 and if it isn't then I likely won't get mature follies at all anyways so I guess it saves me time. LOL

Sorry work has been so stressful! Hopefully you will get a few more hours of calm here and there. And it is almost the weekend! Hopefully that will bring you some reprieve.

mrsdrwombat I so so so hear ya about the met and living in the bathroom...and rushing from places to try to get to the bathroom in time. There is no waiting....it is an emergency so often. My favorite is when I have already gone to the bathroom and like 5 mins later have to go again. Just know you are not alone! The pills and espeically the Met is endlessly tireing and I think it is an exaustion that is subtle but that takes so much toll. When everything has just been to much I have been known to stop taking the met for a few days or even weeks just to get a break. It hasn't really seemed to impact my fertility or lack of fertility.

Interesting your docs have you at 10mg of Let. The highest I ever was dosed was 7.5mg. Have you responded at all with mature follies at US yet?

Will this be your first IUI attempt? Do you have a US scheduled?

@becauselove i was thinking of you when getting my IUI trying to have a full bladder. I drank a liter of water BUT they made me wait over an hour almost and i was literally ready to burst

So I have to go. Now I did drink another 2/3 cups before it happened but not sure it counts

Hopefully it did as I could only lay for a 1/2hr and then had to jump and go fast!!
mrsdaddario my nurse says it does not make a difference BUT if it could help i was all about it.

Hello... again. IUI #2 was a bust for me too, so I go here now. Today will be CD1, baseline will be tomorrow and if it goes as the other two, IUI #3 will likely fall on October 5.

Month/Cycle: Too depressing to count. First pregnancy and first loss was in February/March 2013.

CD or DPO: CD1

WAYDTGKU: So much. PNV, Vitamin E, Prozac (for egg quality), trental (anti-inflammatory), Magnesium, and dexamaethasone (steroid) are my daily pills. (Most of those are related to trying to produce the best egg and environment for implantation, based on my history of recurrent pregnancy loss.) For stims, it's Letrozole, Menopur, and trigger, followed by progesterone suppositories.

IUI Date: TBD, first week in October

Testing: I will POAS morning of beta, scheduled for 12 days after IUI.

What is the thing you are most looking forward to doing this autumn? I am huge football fan, both college and professional, so I love fall for that and for cooler, less humid weather.

@BecauseLove I am hopeful that you will get to proceed with the procedure soon. I am sorry you have had such a hard time getting traction to move forward.

@soontobeshrader Don't fret! I come and go as needed based on my stress levels, too. I know it doesn't bother me for people to pop in and out. We all have to take care of ourselves.

@BecauseLove This will be my second IUI. They took me to 10mg right from the start. I'm not sure why except they said that they had good results previously. I've read some papers that even up to 12.5 mg show some improvement. I did get one good follicle at 10mg on about 9 days of dosing total.

I do think I get some side effects at this dose however. I get very tired, my stomach feels very full all the time (after even a small meal I feel like I ate an entire pizza), and I did get some hot flashes.

I also stopped the metformin for a few days after my negative result last week. I just needed a break. I will literally not leave the bathroom before I have to go again. I think it is just changing my position and moving, and then everything gets shook loose. I feel like I spend all my time just trying to stay hydrated....

Just hopefully growing some mature follies over here...will find out more on Wed (going in for CD 12 US). If good news we will hopefully get to trigger shortly afterwards....interestingly I am hosting a baby shower on Friday morning...will be be curious to see how it goes if we need to get in that day for the IUI (they usually only do IUI in the morning and we live 2 hours away from the dr). And it is my DH birthday on Sunday.

I use to have (and still would) long cycles. I wished I had just pushed for them to do a Beta (so they know for sure I am not prego) and get me on Progesterone quicker. Some of my cycles with waiting got soooo drawn out (like 80 days) because they didn't beta test and wouldn't start me on meds for what seemed like forever. The waiting is such a bummer and makes it so harder to get more cycles in to try.

mrsdrwombat Thats cool that you went straight to the 10mg...no reason to waste time. I am sorry you get some side effects. I didn't get much at least that I noticed.

Well, update for me, kinda. I've chatted her before about the GI issues with the metformin, and it ended up being a big deal for me. I started feeling really sick and and in pain, and my legs cramped up so bad they barely worked. Turns out I was so dehydrated for so long that I even developed a kidney stone! I was in the ER on Friday getting IV fluids, and I am much better now. Doctor took me off the metformin completely so that I can fully recover.

Tomorrow I have a femvue appointment and also going to check on the status of my follicles. I threw up one dose of meds, so I probably will need a few more days of letrazole. Its been a crazy week.

Hi ladies, I just got a negative beta from my first IUI so looks like I'll be joining you.

CD or DPO: I took my last dose of progesterone this morning so I'll be waiting for AF to arrive...not sure how long that will take since I've never done the progesterone before. I usually get AF 12 days after ovulation so it's weird for me to be at 14dpo with nothing.

All things pumpkin and apple. I've been saying that if IUI #1 didn't work that I was really going to cut down on sugar so we'll see how that goes now that fall is here.

@mrsdrwombat The sickness and dehydration sound really terrible. I'm so sorry. I'm glad to hear that you'll be taking a break from the met to feel better. Were you on the Extended Release (ER)? I've heard that some people have less side effects with that than the normal stuff.

@skysong113 It's interesting to me that you wouldn't get AF after a trigger. I always thought if you O that you get a period or are pregnant. Do you know what tests they're running on Thursday?

@madasm0530 Fx for no cysts at your appointment Wednesday. Hopefully that cycle off and cleared everything up.

@BecauseLove Excited to hear how your u/s is on Thursday. Hoping that Clomid does the trick.

It's good to see lots of familiar faces or should I say familiar usernames...just wish it was on different terms.

@BecauseLove Thanks! I've always had long cycles too, generally six to eight weeks when I'd have them at all. I'm hoping to convince them to go ahead and start me on meds, I hear you about the waiting! Good luck with your follies!

@mrsdrwombat Hope you're feeling better! My husband has had kidney stones multiple times and they're no joke!

@Katkirch They said blood work and maybe an ultrasound. I'm not sure what blood work they're planning on doing...I have the feeling this may be like a five minute appointment when they go "okay, here's what we're doing next, thanks for coming in, bye" but I'm hoping they will start me on meds so I get my period instead of just waiting...

@Katkirch Yes, I was on the ER. I have IBS which is usually pretty well controlled but any little thing sends it into a tailspin. I was able to come on the metformin slowly, which helped, but once I started adding the hormones/letrazole cycle everything just came undone. Sorry to hear your IUI didn't work. I just tried my first one as well in September.

@BecauseLove It is the procedure where they flush your uterus/Fallopian tubes to check that everything is ok and the tubes are open. We had decided to try one IUI and see how that went prior to doing this diagnostic test. Since my first IUI failed (for unknown reasons) we decided to just give this a check.

Katkirch Welcome! Sorry your having to join us. Usually I get AF about 1-2 days after. Yeah will be interesting if Clomid is effective at all...being we stopped it so long ago before I was doing US's to check for follie size etc.

@mrsdrwombat Holy cow! That is really scary! I hope you are taking it easy, and am glad you are feeling better! I am lucky enough not to be insulin resistant PCOS, and therefore was never put on Metformin. I've heard horror stories about it, but this by far the worst!

Hi Ladies! I am jumping in this month. I have been lurking for a while and active on TTGP since last year. We just had a failed IUI in September but it was a bit of a cluster to even try to get to that IUI. We had canceled cycle prior because my estrogen levels were tanking and then they almost canceled the September IUI due to a suspected cyst. We ended up trying the cycle without letrozole and everything still looked good enough for the Trigger and IUI so we gave it a go. We had two medicated TI cycles prior to the first canceled cycle.

Month/Cycle: 13/15

CD or DPO: 2

WAYDTGKU:
Ovary check is tomorrow so I'll have a better idea how this cycle is gonna go. I think the plan for now is 7.5mg letrozole, pregnyl trigger, IUI and progesterone

AF arrived today! Usually I'd be devastated because it means I'm not pregnant. But since I knew already this month that I wasn't pregnant, I was excited to see it because it means we can move onto the next cycle right away. I'll add my stuff to the tracker now that I officially started the cycle.

AF showed today, even before my beta, so I'm joining you lovely ladies for IUI#3. I thought LPs after ovidrel were regularly 14 days, but this one was only 12. I guess I'll inquire at my baseline tomorrow.

Today was bad news bears....clomid didn't produce any mature follies. So back to progesterone to start up a new cycle.

My Dr that has been out for maternity leave for 3 months is back next week so they are wanting me to meet with her before deciding next steps. So an appointment is set for Oct 10 to decide what is next.

At this point the fill in Dr's are suggesting injections (which they won't do until my Dr. returns). So I am starting up progesterone again today to start a new cycle so I am ready for the appointment at CD 1 (roughly) so we can start in on injectables right away if that is oked.

I also called one of the IVF dr's offices (which is 5 plus hours away from me) to see about getting in for a info session.

I also made an appointment at the competing (only other) OBGYN group that is 2 hours away from me for a consultation to see if they would suggest anything else before we consider IVF. I have recently heard they suggest more aggressive treatment.

My DH had been planning on going on a trip at the end of the month but he won't be able to go if they ok injectables for us next cycle (CD 14 would likely land on Oct 24th).

Really not sure whats next until my Dr returns though...which I hate being in this kinda limbo.

I usually don't have much emotion associated with this process...it just is what it is...but honestly today on the car ride home (for the first 15 mins or so) I just couldn't stop crying. This whole process is just so exhausting....

You are right, this process is absolutely exhausting. At some point you feel like you are numb to the disappointments, and then something just clicks and sets you off. I know that feeling all to well. We tried Letrozole at 7.5mg for four cycles with good results, but not BFP outcome. We are now on to injectables. Let me say, on support of them, I've had no side affects and I responded extremely quickly. I am slated for IUI tomorrow on CD 11. The medication is not cheap, but if insurance covers it I would suggest just trying a cycle or two. I'm not sure I remember what your diagnosis is, I'm PCOS and I think for us injectables are supposed to work well. Regardless, I hope you can find some light in all of this darkness. mrsdaddario Thanks for the kind and helpful words! We have done 8 cycles of Letrozole and sometimes it work and sometimes it didn't which was frustrating. Clomid has always been a bust for us so I wasn't surprised it didn't work when tried again.

I am fairly annoyed that all the fill in Dr's said I should just go to injectables (so 2 cycles) but none were willing to prescribe until I met with my Dr whom was out/is out.

If oked by my Dr on the 10th I will be going ahead with injectables for at least a cycle or two hoping it will work and...as we research IVF more.

We haven't had any insurance coverage for any of the fertility things (even with blue cross blue shield gold) and won't have any coverage for injectables or IVF.

On a kinda funny note...the dentist office called to see if I wanted to schedule an appointment and I was like no...I am tooo busy with all the other dr appointments I have to go to. I don't think they were prepared for that response.

My diagnosis is just anovulatory. I am getting treated for PCOS but not diagnosed as having it.

Oh @BecauseLove I'm so sorry for how things are turning out this month, I can only imagine how frustrated you must feel. I'm sorry you have to wait some more before plans can be made; I think the only thing that gets me through most days is just knowing "The Plan" and being able to focus on the next step.
Do you have any activities to distract you in the meantime? I hope you can find something fun to treat yourself with
