AFM, I had my appt this morning, and after doing an ultrasound, my RE said I definitely ovulated and my lining looked like it was bleeding away internally, he wasn't sure why there was no period yet...so I am starting Provera tonight to get things moving, and then we'll be doing another letrozole cycle. Happy to be moving forward again, kind of annoyed that when I actually want AF to come, there's just nothing and I need another 10 days of meds...hope everyone is enjoying the start of fall!

AFM - I started injectibles last night for this cycle. We bumped up the dosage to 75 IU instead of 50 last cycle (which went on forever!). Back next Wednesday for a follie check.

@BecauseLove I am so sorry!  This is just so unfair for you to go thru all this.


So I can report that I HATED the Femvue.  They warned "some cramping" but I was jumping on the table and ended up crying a little which I felt really bad about.  The good news is I have confirmation that uterus and tubes are all clear.  
They also checked my follicles and I had ONE at 12mm.  I was pretty disappointed that I didn't have more in the mix.    I'm continuing on letrazole and have another u/s on Friday to see about when we can trigger.  

I feel like I am always at the dr office these days.  I had no idea going into this how exhausting it is, plus the song and dance to fit it along side work.  Here is hoping all us ladies get our positive results this month!

I disappeared for a little, picked up some extra shifts at work and my sister delivered my beautiful nephew so I've been busy. I finished my round of clomid 100 and I am on cycle day 11 so tomorrow morning I go in for monitoring. Tested for ovulation the past 2 days and got nothing, but hoping to have at least one good looking follicle and possible insemination this weekend. I'm hoping for some luck on this first iui. I've read so much about eating pineapple core, meditation, and envisioning the sperm meeting the egg and implanting. Anyone else have any tips?

Well, frustrating morning. I went for monitoring to find out I have one follicle 12mm. Doctor was hoping I'd be further along at this point. Go back Monday, to see if the follicle is moving along. Kind of disappointed right now, but we'll see. It was my first round and 100 of clomid but who knows I guess. Hoping I don't waste this month.

@BecauseLove  I'm so sorry that clomid wasn't successful.  My heart aches for you for all that you've gone through.  I've heard of a lot of people that have had success on injectables after clomid/let didn't work so I have my FX that you will respond to it better as well.  Keep us updated on what your doctor says when she's back.

@awoz20  I'm sorry to hear about the frustrating morning with the u/s.  There is so much waiting with TTC so things like that are really disappointing.  Hoping that follicle grows to be nice and big by Monday!

AFM, I had my day 3 u/s and bloodwork today.  I again had a cyst and it was huge this month but my estradiol levels were low so they said I can still go ahead with the letrozole.  If things go like the last 2 cycles, I should go in for a follicle check on 10/12.

well AF has worked like clockwork these last 2 months of failed IUIs...both came exactly 2 weeks after trigger. just put the call into the nurse line to schedule my baseline for #3....fx for no cysts!

What is the thing you are most looking forward to doing this autumn?  Putting away my summer clothes! I don't mind summer, but I hate the heat, and I love pulling out big cozy sweaters and hoodies and jeans, and this year with the drugs making me gain weight, I know I'll feel a lot better once the flimsy summer fabrics are out of my life for a while.  

I went in for my first U/S of the cycle today, and it was a different doctor than I normally see, and he was already counting and measuring follicles; that's never happened before on the first U/S.  Like I said, we had to cancel last month's trigger, and so AF came almost 2 weeks after they would've expected (I swear, NOTHING brings on AF like calling the clinic to schedule a blood test, works every time), so IDK what that does for my cycle time/follicles/whatever, but I already have like 3 that are 12+mm, plus about 10 others.  So I mean, I guess that's hopeful, but I'm just so done with getting my hopes all up.  I've only got another cycle, maybe 2 before they want to start talking IVF, and I just don't think I want to go there.  The more I read and think about it, the more I think I'm better off maxing out on meds and then, if that doesn't work, just accepting that getting pregnant may never be in the cards for me, even though that's not good either (and DH is not into adoption).  IDK, it's just hard; all my friends who've gone through something like this got pregnant by now, and had healthy babies, and I'm over here like yeah, still popping pills...

@Sasha29 I hear you on the "i'm over here still popping pills". I have friends in all different stages - multiple children, pregnant, waiting, struggling. It is nice to have all the different perspectives but I can't help but feel sorry for myself from time to time.

@awoz20  I am also back in today to see where my pokey follicles are at.  Good luck to both of us!  

My appointment on Friday didn't show much growth of my one follicle, however two more had caught up to it.  I'd rather have multiple follicles in the mix, so I guess it wasn't all bad news.  Been taking more letrazole all weekend and hoping this afternoon that we get the good news to go head and trigger.

I thought I would copy my status post from the TTCAL board over here for an update on this fine Monday.

I don't know if it's just my computer, but I can't see anyone's signatures anymore, so for those unfamiliar, I am still trying for #1 after having had five losses. First was in early 2013. Currently seeing an RE who specializes in RPL and although we didn't previously have trouble conceiving, when we started seeing this doc, all of a sudden IF is an issue too! This is our sixth and likely final medicated cycle before considering IVF with donor egg.

As for status, I am at CD 11, WTO. Had follicle check this morning and for the second time ever on stims, I have multiple follies! YAY! There are three that could be contenders and while my doc is typically cautious, he encouraged us to not skip this cycle for fear of multiples. Instead, he believes this may be what we need to have a better chance! We were both pleased with the outcome. He's going to monitor me closely so that we can try and time it just right. I gave blood for an LH test this morning and will go back for another U/S tomorrow, but he thinks we might trigger Wednesday and have IUI on Friday.

Since the group has grown, I thought I would pose another GTKY type question: What is the best Halloween costume you ever came up with?


The best was when H and I dressed as Dog and Beth from Dog the Bounty Hunter. He cut his hair into a real mullet! I bought and stuffed an extra-large bra, wore skimpy clothes and a bouffant blonde wig, while husband wore a "bullet-proof" vest with no shirt, a walkie-talkie, and some cheesy jewelry. It was amazing. I wish we had gone downtown that year, because I feel sure we could have won a contest.

@BecauseLove You have had to fight so hard for every cycle. I am sorry that you are still not responding as well as they would like and that you repeatedly end up in this dreaded limbo. I am hopeful for you and believe that steeling yourself for disappointment is a natural reaction. It can be a necessary protection, but letting yourself cry it out is totally ok too! I often do both. You're strong and you're not alone.

WAYDTGKU: Will do a medicated IUI this cycle. I don't have consistent ovulation dates so the RE wants a medicated cycle in order to time things better. Clomid, not sure dosage yet. 

IUI Date: Depends on CD1. Most likely the week of the 17th.

Just a short response, because I actually want to respond to a bunch of all your posts but I'm at work on my phone so it's not easy. 

Went for my u/s today. One follicule on each ovary, both 11 mm. When I went on Friday the one on the right ovary was 12mm so I hope it was just a mistake as someone else was doing the monitoring today than my normal doctor. My blood work is all where it should be relative to my follicles. I go back Thursday and I'm hoping for some growth by then. I would love to have two strong follicules breeding than the one. She did say there are several small ones, but nothing worth mentioning.

What is the best Halloween costume you ever came up with? 

I am NOT a halloween person - I'm a fall person, so I typically don't dress up. The best halloween costume I can remember is when I was going to dress up as a "rockstar" and on 10/30 my then boyfriend said he had something to go with my costume. I was praying he was talking about a blow up guitar, but it was a ring! I suppose the holiday should be a little more special to me, but nah. 

I go in tomorrow for an u/s. FX I have growing follies becuase last cycle's almost 3 weeks was exhausting!

@madasm0530  Yeah it looks like some good follies this time, I'm trying to keep cautiously optimistic.  It is nice to have friends at different stages, but it's still kind of hard to hear the success stories and then get the "oh, no luck for you yet, I guess" as they look enviously at my fishbowl of wine.  FX for you too... 3 weeks, ugh!

@madasm0530 What's funny, is that I am so not a Halloween person either. The year we did Dog and Beth, I had two roommates who are obsessed with Halloween, so we had a big party and I felt the costume was necessary. The idea was H's and it all stemmed from the fact that he had long hair and wanted to cut it short, so the real mullet was actually an option. I've never been a big costume person.

We still think (FX) that we will get a go at IUI #3 in October (we are hoping for injectables) but won't know more till we see the Dr on the 10th. 

For those of you using injectables...how much is costing roughly a cycle for the injecatbles?

We are also starting to research IVF and setting up appointments (or 1 appointment depending on how things go). No fertility insurance coverage so starting to see how are savings look and talking to family about helping us. Also hopeful we will get some mature follies this cycle, have a successful IUI and won't have to go ahead with an IVF.  

I am also excited because I found a IVF facility that doesn't require a BMI of under 35. Which I am just on the edge of...makes it seem less stressful.

furbabymom2007 Welcome! It sounds like you have been having a rough go of it. I am sorry about the cysts and estrogen levels. Does it seem like your dr has a good handle on this for the future?

I hate wasting cycles...so much effort and meds for no chance. Just read your update....is it possible you ovulated early and a mature follie went all by itself? I am constantly annoyed when I get lots and lots of follies but no mature one. Oy vey! 

LoweeeK sorry to hear that AF came your way but hopefully it gets you going on the next cycle and not having to waste time waiting or taking progesterone. 

Sasha29 Hey...I know sometimes this whole process sucks! I am sorry your feeling in the weeds about it all. This could be your lucky month though! Sounds like your having good follies at this point! Sometimes this process just takes us down...you are not alone in it. And popping pills is my life...not even sure what I would do these days if I wasn't taking a handful of fertility pills/vitamins

@BecauseLove I am in my TWW of my first injectable cycle. The RE ordered us:

Gonal-f
Menopur
Cetrotide
Progesterone Oil
Lupron Trigger
Endometrin (Which I had a ton of already and didn't need)

The Menopur and Cetrotide were just in case medications that he wanted me to have on hand. I did not end up needing them so those are just sitting at home. My insurance covers all of the medications so overall I only paid $170 OOP . Gonal-f was around $4k without insurance. The majority of that $170 is from what insurance didn't cover on it (I think). The Lupron cost $10. Not sure if that info is helpful!

Baseline was good this morning, no cysts, thank goodness. I had to wait three months after our initial appointment with the RE before I could even get started because of those stubborn cysts! RE doesn't want to change anything this cycle because last month looked so good with number of follicles, progesterone, etc....if the timing works out like it did last month, IUI should be next Friday, 10/14!

mrsdaddario It's so interesting how much insurance can make a difference. Blue Cross Blue Sheild in MN doesn't cover any infertility things as far as I can tell. Sounds like Gonal F 450 iu pens are $833.00 (and that we will use 2-3 So more like $1666 or $2499) plus the other tests and meds for the 1 cycle.

My favorite costumes were probably Nanny Ogg from the Terry Pratchett Discworld books when I was in college and Medusa and the Gorgon sisters from mythology with a couple of my friends in high school...no one really got that one though, but I thought it was fun...

@BecauseLove FX that you get your injectables going and that they aren't too horrifically expensive! This OOP thing sucks. Hope they get your follies in high gear

My RE just decided to add a steroid, once daily until trigger. Has anyone else done this? I'm not really sure what it's for and he hasn't gotten back to me about that yet.

I am actually on a low dose steroid, @skysong113. I was on it solid for three months, but then after no BFPs, he lowered the dose to just take between CD 1-18. I can't recall exactly what it's for (I am dot a Type A note taker), but believe it is related to immune system health and/or connected to natural killer cells and their ability to impact implantation. Have you had any losses?

It is based on your employer's plan and not what the insurance company covers. Maybe it would help to talk to your employer about their coverage?

I have 6 IUI cycles covered per pregnancy and have met my OOP for the year so we're smooth sailing for the rest of 2016 - time to squeeze in some more injectibles this year!

Just curious what anyone knows about Letrozole?  I have low AMH and with my IVF procedure, I only produced 4 eggs.  The stims for this month's IUI are significantly less than what was given during IVF, as far as injectables go.  Just surprised they aren't being more aggressive considering my low results with high dosages.  Makes me wonder if I'll produce more than 1 egg.....

My plan is as follows:

Days 1-5: Letrozole 7.5mg
Day 5:  Gonal-F 150u
Day 6- Gonal-F 75u
Day 7- Gonal-F 75u
Day 8 Ultrasound

madasm0530 I did an individual plan the last 2 years (the gold level lol) and it didn't cover anything regarding fertility. This year I am with my tiny non profit (I am 1 of 2 people on the silver plan...none of the options we were provided as options included fertility coverage). I talked to our insurance rep at length but no dice.

@BecauseLove Ugh that is so frustrating!! I also have Blue Cross Blue Shield but of Empire New York. I'm on my husband's plan and he works for a giant corporation, so I assume that is why so much of the infertility procedures are covered. Everything except IVF, as NYS are bastards and don't make insurance companies cover it at all. I got all of my injectable medications through Freedom Pharmacy, which I believe is like 1 out of 6 speciality infertility pharmacies in the country. My insurance requires I use it. Any way, I know they offer a "compassionate care" thing where they help with the cost of the medications. Might be something to look into.

I had my third u/s in three days today... It's ok though, bc our Doc is trying to make sure everything is just right since this is our last go at IUIs. We have a lead follicle at 21 and two others that look around 18 and 15. Unless my LH test comes back really wonky, we will trigger tonight and have the IUI on Friday.

Should totally work, but am hoping that Hurricane Matthew doesn't throw a wrench in our plans. We shall see.

Just got a BFN from my September IUI so I'm assuming I will be joining here once AF shows... sorry to be here but glad to be in good company.

Month/Cycle: 13 months TTC, 4th medicated/iui cycle

CD or DPO: AF expected Friday or Saturday

WAYDTGKU: Metformin to treat PCOS, all three previous iuis have been Clomid and Ovidrel although we may move on to injectibles this round.  We'll see.  I completed Whole30 and lost 18 pounds in September.... I felt great and really thought it was our month. :-(  Hoping I can avoid self-pity and stay motivated for October.

IUI Date: TBD

Testing: Typically Beta test 12-14 dpiui

What is the thing you are most looking forward to doing this autumn? Changing foliage, cooking soups, cozy nights in and apple picking.  Hoping fall doesn't move too quickly... i love this time of year.

I'm excited, but still petrified! I'm getting my typical cramps now (just left work so I could lay down) so tomorrow should be CD1!

I just got a call from my REs office and they want to see me back on Friday instead of Monday for continued monitoring. Obviously something in my bloodwork triggered them to make that decision - estrogen levels? Either way, I am not super optimistic with one teeny tiny follie at this point. Ugh.

I'm out this cycle. Went to my primary care for headaches and she thinks my blood pressure is causing it. Put me on meds and have to see how I do on them for the next month. Hopefully we can sort this out and try again in November.
