  • "Lolli"? Laaaaame.

  • Hey are you guys familiar with those nursing covers that double as a car seat cover?  Milkmaid Goods is one of them and Milk Snob is another brand.... I was wondering if moms actually really use it?  Or is this just another gimmick?  Have you guys bought one?
  • @annabenanna we were at my husbands cousins house and she basically demanded I get one. she makes using it look so easy. it's just s cover tho not a 2 in one.'
  • @amye102485 What... the... f*ck... really? That's just weird.
  • @AllyTheKid I know, right? That would never fly with me.

  • @annabenanna I got one from Milk Snob, and it seems like it's going to be fabulous. I have it on my carseat to take to the hospital actually. Also keeps Nosey Nancys from staring at your baby, so really a win win win
  • @books&icecream I am totally NOT offended. I think it is so stupid and when she told me I had to just walk away lol.

@amye102485  Oh wow. That takes the cake! Hahaha!

  • @mrszoess what brand was she using?

@SpaceBurger, have you tried it on?  is it comfy?  I wanna get one!  what print did you get?
  • I think the step parent becoming a grand parent game is hard. Like my mom and step father have been together for 25 years. I love him, he actually walked me down the aisle (my real father wasn't even invited), but my older sister has always HATED him. To be fair, he did nothing wrong she is just the type of person who only wanted it to be my older brother, her and my mom (so she hated me too). Anyway, she was the first of us to have a kid and their relationship was still really sucky so it was kind of touchy as to what would happen. Well one day my mom said something like 'man instead of grampy you should be called grumpy!" (Step father was in a mood). It totally stuck! So now all the grandkids call him Grumpy or just Grumps.

It's both hilarious and totally broke the tension as to how his relationship with sister's son would be. My sister and him have mellowed out but her son and my stepfather are like best friends.
  • @annabenanna I just used the muslin blanket as both a car seat cover and a nursing cover.  Though I never used it in the car unless someone was sitting back there (I mostly used it to cover the car seat when we used the seat in the stroller) because I worried that it would fall into the car seat, so maybe a specialized cover would be a good idea.

I don't get why the "if you are a working mom, you aren't raising your children" myth still persists.  It's ridiculous.  My mom worked my whole life but she sure as hell raised us.  (I actually have the opposite issue in that I feel a little weird for staying home with my kid.  Almost all of my 17 aunts worked, so I'm kind of the odd-woman-out.  And, honestly, if I was offered a job in my field, I'd go back to work in a heartbeat.)
  • @annabenanna I have no idea. she got it for 3'dollars at a garage sale.
  • On the nanny subject, I couldn't do it. I wouldn't love someone living in my house for any length of time.  I nannied for a month for people that I had babysat for in the past (their nanny quit and they had moved away and needed time to hire someone new). So I stayed with them in North Carolina (I'm from Michigan ) for a month taking care of the kiddos while they found someone new! It was a great job, I made great money and when I wasn't watching the kids they didn't really have a lot of stipulations about what I could /couldn't do! My boyfriend (now DH) even came and stayed a weekend- he stayed one night at the house with us and we stayed in a hotel for two more nights. They flew me there and back and paid for half of husband's ticket to come visit. Seriously they were crazy generous and I loved them and their kids.  I cried when they told me they were moving away.  Even after all that I couldn't do it! But my family is blessed because my parents watch our kids so we don't have to do any of the dayce/nanny/sitter stuff and that's a HUGE load off my mind.

Now, on to ice cream. If you haven't tried market pantry (target brand) monster cookie ice cream, I HIGHLY recommend it! Nom.

As far as nursing covers, I usually just use a muslin blanket and call it good. :)

  • I feel you all on the step parent struggle. My dad recently remarried and keeps hinting around some sort of a grandparent name for his wife. She's a very nice lady and we get along just fine but we're not close at all and I'm not comfortable with my kid thinking she is their grandma. She'll have a special role in his life, since she's married to GrandBob, but I think them calling her by name works just fine for me.
  • omg I love "grandbob" @scostel2
  • Yay more babies! Congrats @kmvisioli they are precious!

  • lol @ "lollipop." And "your majesty." barf.

While I'm a total hypocrite and use a (seahawks) carseat canopy cover- I feel sort of obligated to mention that safety concerns have been brought up recently about carseat covers causing overheating. I also feel like this is a common sense thing....though we all know about how common *that* is.

Someone bought me a milk snob cover and it seems like it will be awesome. It's easy to get on and off, it's super soft, and doesn't seem too heavy. However, it freaks me out as a car seat cover. It seems weird to have something tight over the car seat making access difficult. That could just be FTM insanity though.
  • Such beautiful babies on the birth announcement thread! Congratulations @UponAStar16 and @kmvisioli:)

Same @kmvisioli @UponAStar16 . Congrats and I LOVE seeing those October announcements with beautiful babies.
  • I had a dream last night that Baby had to come early. And I have a doctor's appointment this afternoon, so my mind is all "whoa...is this some major foreshadowing? am I going to get to the office and have them be like, 'yep, he needs to come out now!'??"

  • @bamacoop I hope you keep that nugget baking but I had a dream that I had 3 very clear BFPs the night before I tested and it came true.

Do y'all dream about your baby? I'm pregnant in my dreams, but I've yet to have a dream about her as a baby. I don't put much into dreams, but I'm wondering if I'm weird that I haven't dreamed about actually having her.

  • @MorganL925 Ha! I know, it's totally bizarre.

Most of my dreams include me being pregnant, but I have had a few here and there about him actually being here. In some of them he's been as big as a 2 year old. Ha.

  • The othe only real dreams about my babies that I've had - has always had Carlisle being a 2 year old on my hip while still pregnant with Cora. So strange. Maybe it's because she has always been the bigger baby? (And by bigger, I mean 3oz at the most, lol)
  • @kmvisioli and @UponAStar16 congrats on your beautiful babies!!!

@bamacoop my aunt was having dreams about me (but that I lost a bunch of weight) and she was worried so she called my mom, but at this point no one knew, not even me!  So when my mom told me, I ended up having a dream I had a baby, so when I woke up (on V-Day) I took a test and sure enough I was pregnant.  Now this same aunt is talking about how the baby can come any time after this Friday because of the full moon and I will be pregnant for 9 full moons.

  • hahaha @CopperBoom86 your dream reminds me of these swahili cartoons called "Tinga Tinga tales" they're so brightly colored and acid-like. haha. Apparently they're in English too if you want to see -  youtube

  • @annabenanna here is an overview to get the size. It's stretchy too, and it seems like plenty of room

  • @SpaceBurger i LOVE it!  It looks so cute on you!  Also, my fear was that it would be too tight, but it doesn't seem like it!  Thanks for posting this!
  • @ibabyloveb87 - those are like my typical pregnancy dreams. I had one the other night where I basically owned/ran a haunted mansion that people could come stay in, but it was legit creepy and scary and people would get lost. Bizarre. But never any dreams about my sweet baby, toddler or otherwise.

@mizzkbrat - me too. I f'ing hate work right now. Especially one co-worker in particular.
