@isthisthereallife ugh so very sorry!!! I've been through that disappointment but I was also very angry. At least dh tried, I don't understand how there bodies are so inconsistent. Hang in there better luck next cycle. Maybe have him freeze a sample just in case.

@meli123k so very sorry to hear of ur loss, fur babies are my babies. Let's be honest many animals r better then people!! I had 2 cats and a dog and when I lost my first cat my house still seemed empty. We actually got another kitty from the aspca that resembled her and I have to say if felt better. Many of our animals were strays so they usually adopted us. Hope ur tww goes by quickly.

@BecauseLove I was curious to see how u are and I can see u really are in it! And I thought I had it bad, my drive is 30 min on a bad day some it's like 20, and that's far for me. I can't even imagine it farther. How often do u have to go. I think it's good ur still continuing on, hopefully it follie is just taken its sweet time for perfection and hopefully in a few more days ull be good to go. Thinking of u sending tons of sparkling baby dust ur way!!!

Things r still tough on my only about 4folkirs go so have to see how the rest of my cycle will go, spending so much not to have a good amount to retrieve would b bad. Not too mention my oh is now probably headed out of town so seems nothing is going my way this cycle. This is just tough stuff!!

@BecauseLove Yikes that is far! I don't think I'd want to consider IVF either with that drive. I hope you don't end up having to and that this IUI works! Right now we are planning to move forward with IVF if this cycle doesn't work out, but next cycle would pretty much just be a prep cycle...then another cycle for meds and egg retrieval...then finally another for frozen embryo transfer (they want to do the retrieval and transfer on separate cycles as a precaution due to a stroke I had 6 years ago). Seems like so much more waiting just to get one cycle, but we figure we might as well give it a try since our insurance covers a decent amount. Does your insurance cover anything for IVF? It baffles me how many places have crap coverage for infertility, it's not fair at all.

@Hopeful_mom Thanks for the kind words! We consider our furrbabies as family too and have adopted them all from various situations. Lucky was a tuxedo cat, and I admit I've taken a peek at petfinder to see the tuxedo kitties in need of homes in our area. I know we could never replace him, and we don't want to rush into getting another pet just yet (we have two more kitties at home) but being able to provide another animal in need with a good home is definitely comforting and I'm sure we will be tempted to do so sooner rather than later

Best of luck with your IVF cycle, I really hope it goes more smoothly the rest of the cycle! DH and I have started looking into IVF and if this IUI doesn't work out we'll be starting down that road too.

kristynelson13 FX that one of the IUI's or IVF is the magic bullet. That is awesome to have insurance at all to cover some of it at least. In MN there is no insurance for fertility treatment it is all out of pocket.

Hopeful_mom Yeah my drive for IUI's and Ultrasounds is 2+ hours 1 way. Next Monday I have a dr appointment at 8:45 am (only time they could get me in) and that means I have to leave at like 6am. My dr is usually pretty good at having me just come down for the US, then the IUI (if I have mature follies at the time of the US). However I have had a fair share of cancelled IUI's that are just the US appointment. So usually only 2 times a month. This month we will be down there 2-3 times. I am glad to still be trying and we can restart progesterone on Monday to cause AF if I don't have mature follies. So that is good at least. No waiting for 80 plus days for a AF to maybe come naturally.

Gosh I have my fingers crossed for you that the follies multiply and are mature and awesome! You are in my thoughts!

meli123k Yeah the drive and having to take off work that much seems challenging but the $'s even more so. No insurance in MN for fertility - all out of pocket. It is for sure a few months of waiting with IVF but the likelihood of a kiddo is so much higher! I hope that either way you get lucky...if that means with IUI or with IVF.

We did say that by IUI 4 we will go down and have meetings with the 3-4 places in MN that do IVF to at least see what our options would be. Also likely that I will see about pushing my dr to do injections the last cycle of IUI to see if that makes a difference. Dolla Dolla bills ya all.

Good morning, ladies! I have been lurking here for a while, but this is my first post! Reading other experiences has helped me tremendously as we navigate through this infertility battle. I am anxiously waiting for my first IUI this morning at 10AM! We had our initial consult with our RE back in June, but have been delayed with any treatment because of two cycles with too large of cysts (5-6cm on each side). I finally got the go ahead in early August and was put on Clomid. My day 12 u/s showed 2 follicles (both 16), so me RE brought me back for a day 15 u/s, but now I'm down to only one follie (19 on Monday)....the other one disappeared over the span of 2 days? hmmm....we'll see, I triggered on Tuesday night. I am remaining cautiously optimistic - just glad we are finally able to get a plan in place!! Thank you again...it's so great to have a place to share stories and encouragement!!

@BecauseLove Thanks for the encouragement! I am hopeful IVF will be the answer for us if this IUI doesn't work out. That really stinks there's no insurance for infertility in MN. I hope someday insurance companies will treat infertility coverage more fairly. It sounds like you are keeping a good attitude about it all which is awesome. This journey is hard enough without having to worry about money on top of it all! I hope you get lucky very soon and won't need to worry about the time or money for IVF!

Yesterday I had a headache and was feeling extra tired, but that usually happens for me a few days before AF. So we'll see. I'm going to take a home test Saturday morning and if it's negative I'll treat myself to a couple glasses of wine at my aunt's cookout later that afternoon

Hey @Megzb510 , thanks for checking in. I am expecting Aunt Flo today, and I definitely have cramping and spotting but she's not officially here yet in all her glory. I took a test this morning (a cheapie) and almost convinced myself I see a squinter but I think I am just so hopeful and delusional at this point. My husband says he sees a shadow but definitely not a line. Ugh. So I will just keep myself distracted today, clean the house, work the night shift, test again tomorrow. Probably by then AF will be here though. I hate being in the in-between, you know? How is your TWW going?

Its really interesting because last cycle as soon as I started the progesterone I was crampy, bloated, constipated, extremely tired, sore chest... and this cycle I have nothing. The only thing Im currently experiencing is what I think is a yeast infection, sorry TMI, ... and Im pretty sure I've never had one...so its a good time. ha.

We will see what happens I guess...

Has anyone experienced migraines while taking Femara? I take 7.5 mg 1x a day. I've been on them since Sunday evening and tonight is my last dose. I have a had migraine/ lingering headache all week. Tylenol helps a little but mainly helps when I sleep. I haven't called my RE, I figured I could tough it out but this is annoying. Just wondering if anyone else has had this side effect.

Everything went well and I'm feeling good now! DH's count pre wash count doubled to 62mil from his initial SA in early July, so we were very pleased with that - count post wash was 22mil and motility 77%. cheers now to the 2ww!

@JAH87 I didn't experience any side effects that I can recall (this was my first cycle using femara), but I was on a much lower dose. All fertility drugs seem to affect people differently though. I hope you feel better soon!

@kristynelson13 I feel great... Don't know if that's good or bad, lol. I haven't felt too many symptoms besides the occasional twinge or two and a few cramps the other day. Being on vacation has definitely helped keep my mind off of everything and relax. I'm hoping that's the key! Sorry about the yeast infection -- no fun. When is your beta?

Thanks everyone. I seem to be sensitive to meds. Anything that has the chance to make me nauseous will and since I only take the Femara for 5 days my body can't adjust to it and get past the headaches and upset stomach. Feeling alright tonight as I was very distracted. Doing some urban farming with my mom. Picking tomatoes, making tomato purée and canning it. Going to use it as different sauces, can't wait.

FX for multiple and good size follies at my ultra sound appointment Tuesday.

@isthisthereallife You are so sweet to ask. Honestly, I’m not doing very well at all. I’ve been gradually spiraling this week. As you know, I got pregnant on our first IUI cycle in May and lost the baby. This cycle was our second try with IUI. I tested last night and this morning (both too soon; I’m supposed to test tomorrow) but got a BFN. (When I was pregnant last time I tested early and got a BFP so I feel very confident that this isn’t a false negative.) Since you are supposed to be more fertile after a loss I thought this would be it for us. As each day passed this week and I closer and closer to being able to test, I just knew I wasn’t pregnant. The main reason I knew was because my boobs didn’t hurt at all. Last time, my boobs hurt so bad that I couldn’t lie on my stomach and I would take baths just to let the girls float and take the gravity off them. They killed me and I loved every single minute. I had other symptoms when I was pregs besides that, but when I didn’t have any tenderness this time, I just knew I wasn’t pregnant. I had some pregnancy-like symptom, but they were all side effects from the progesterone.

I guess I just feel angry because we got pregnant, then lost the baby. Then I ovulated on my own for the first time (probably ever) and didn’t get pregnant so started back up with the fertility treatments and did IUI #2. I wanted my Rainbow Baby. And my husband’s birthday is in 2 days and our 2-year wedding anniversary in in 5 days and a baby would have been the best gift ever. I normally get sad after a negative result, but I was literally sobbing yesterday, more upset than I’ve ever been over a BFN. I cried some when I got to work this morning and I’m starting to feel better but it’s hard. I want answers that I will never get. I want to know why it worked last time but didn’t work this time when I’m supposed to be MORE fertile because of the loss. I want to know why I’m doing everything right and it didn’t work. I want to know where it went wrong; was the egg bad, did none of the sperm make it, was the egg fertilized but didn’t implant, etc. But I know those answers will never come. And that sucks.

When I ovulated on my own right after our loss, I thought that was God’s plan for us…that we would get pregnant through fertility treatments then lose the baby to reset my body to get pregnant naturally, the way we both dreamed it would be. Then when that didn’t happen I thought, ok, God wants to give us an amazing birthday present and anniversary present. Then that didn’t happen. I know God has a plan for us but sometimes it’s hard not to lose faith.

I will be ok in a few days but I’m truly grieving. I don’t know what to do with this energy that I have. The worst part of infertility is that, no matter how hard you try, you can’t shut your mind off. It just goes and goes and goes. I think that’s what makes the TWW so bad for most of us. It’s all we can think of. It’s what we want so badly and the desire only grows with time.

I always try to be positive here, but maybe it’s good to show some vulnerability and share my feelings and that I’m hurting and it’s ok. I won’t “stay” down. But I’m feeling what I feel and I’ll move on. I will now stop taking the progesterone so my period should start soon and on to the next cycle; that’s all we can do, right?. I will see you on the September IUI board. Hopefully that will be the last time for both of us. I’m sorry for the book. Hugs to you!

As for me... I'm out! I got home from the night shift around 9:30 this morning. I was feeling pretty hopeful because I had only had a tiny bit of spotting and minimal cramps, plus I was starting to get breast tenderness! Never felt so happy about sore boobs! I peed on a cheapie and again see this shadow but it's not darker at all. So I also dipped a FRER and it's pretty darn negative. I treated myself to some brownies! Of course now AF has started. I'm not feeling to terrible about it, which is good. A friend is coming into town tonight and she is a fun single gal so im sure we will go out and be silly. It probably will hit me later and I will have to cry it out, but for now I'm excited for a fun weekend and for moving on to IUI #6 (the last stop before ivf!).

@Bai-by2016 Sorry to hear you are having a rough time

And so very sorry about your miscarriage. I find that some cycles hurt way more for me than others, sometimes I can put my finger on it (like you I have also hoped for that most amazing anniversary gift or being able to surprise DH on his birthday) and sometimes I just don't know why. But the only way through is to feel what you need to feel and cry and grieve as much as you need to to make it to the other side and keep on going. Sometimes you just need to let it out, and these boards are great for that because there is so much support and understanding here.
I've also been struggling a lot with my faith during this journey...admittedly I was a bit lukewarm beforehand, but this has made the struggle wayyyy more difficult. We haven't been to church in quite a while because I find I'm much happier and more positive if I can avoid triggers as much as possible, and there are just so many at church with all the babies, children, and pregnancies. I got really bitter about it at times too, like why would God allow something so painful and cruel to happen to us? Almost all of the girls my age at the church have kids or are pregnant. Lately DH and I have been praying a lot more together though and that has been comforting, so we will continue with that even though we don't feel up to going to church right now.
I haven't felt any different this cycle either and I just don't have much hope left for it at this point. My beta should've been tomorrow but since it's the weekend they had to push it til Monday instead. I'm planning to take a FRER tomorrow, and I think I'll stop my progesterone then as well (maybe Sunday just to be safe). DH and I are moving onto IVF now, so I won't see you on the September board but I really really hope September will be your month!

Bai-by2016 Oh sweet girl, I'm so sorry that you're hurting! I think it's a beautiful, brave, thing to let your vulnerability show. And honestly, what better place than a bunch of strangers (

) who genuinely care and are rooting for you. I think you really need to let yourself feel your feelings. Don't be ashamed for hurting or for wanting answers even though you know you can't get them. I, too, believe that Gd has a plan. Even if we don't understand it right now. Try and enjoy your DH's birthday and your anniversary. Be gentle with yourself. I choose to believe that our time will come.

On another note, one of girls from this board told me about Fertility beads. While I'm not really into that holistic gem stuff, I didn't think a pretty new necklace could hurt. Truthfully, I just felt like it was tangible way for me to "wear my feelings". I bought the little elephant & turtle charm with a stone on it and just plan to wear it as a necklace. @Bai-by2016 thank you for being so real and honest. I'm sorry I didn't see what you wrote til now, I must have been writing my post and hadn't hit refresh or something. I'm so sorry about the BFN and the heartbreak. Ugh. This whole process is terrible. I could totally identify with you with feeling like I thought I understood God's reasons. But the truth I've learned is that everything does not "always happen for a reason" as that corny quote would have you believe. Like, I take care of sick kids at work, so really what is the reason a child has cancer or any number of terrible things? There is no reason. Why do we have infertility? Why isn't any of this working when it's supposed to? Sometimes bad things happen for no reason, there was nothing we did to deserve it, and what's worse is there's no way to follow the rules and do everything exactly right and be sure we get the results we want.

I've thought up different scenarios most months too where "it would be great if we were pregnant because... Mother's Day. Father's Day. 4th of July. Hubs birthday. Our wedding anniversary. Any holiday (would be the best gift)". And on and on. And I picture what the path would be like if it were positive, how our lives would change, the joy I would feel walking around at work or taking the bus or doing ANYTHING at all and knowing I was pregnant. Literally everything would be better. And without being pregnant, there is like a gaping wound, a missing puzzle piece, an "almost but not quite" feeling. We just go through life with this piece missing.

Ugh. Anyways. All this is to say you are not alone and you are strong and we will all find our way through this. Hope you hang in there and do some things this weekend that bring you joy. Have you listened to be "Beat infertility" podcast? It's like free therapy if you need it.

@Bai-by2016 You could be writing my story! I don't know if your remember but my last pregnancy and miscarriage happened in the same way (but with a natural pregnancy vs an iui). Right after I thought we would get pregnant right away because I also heard you are more fertile. I know how much it hurts when it doesn'the happen and I wish I could give you a huge hug.

On a side note, I am not sure if you had a d&c but I think it might have left something inside when I had it because when I went to my RE, my tubes were both completely blocked. I am not sure that is something you might want to check, but it is a thought.

@Bai-by2016 You truly have said what all of us are thinking and feeling. I always say I want to know y, everything has been on point for months and still nothing. We all feel it and I'm sorry ur feeling it too. We need to have our breakdowns to let it out so we can try again. I'm terrified that ivf doesn't work as what else do I then have to turn too. I won't lie this being my first cycle of ivf, I rather be doing another IUI. The shot irritate me and give me headaches for hours if not the whole day on top of the fun bruising. This is definitely more then I expected. I pray it's worth it but it's hard!! Hang in there!

@Bai-by2016 It is ok to grieve, and take as much time as you need to process the pain you've been through. You've been through more sadness than many women our age. Your words resonate with me, because I honestly feel like a little part of me dies every month we're not pregnant. Infertility brings a never ending feeling of grief that no one who hasn't gone through it will ever understand. @lady_grey said it well; " there is a gaping wound, a missing puzzle piece..." I feel this empty hole in my heart daily, as I know you all do too.

JAH87 I get headaches sometimes but thankfully they don't mature into full blown migraines...it seems like the only real side effect I get though and not always.

I hope you feel better! Your weekend of urban farming sounds awesome! I need to get on roasting up tomatoes from our garden to start making pasta sauce for the winter.

Thanks all the dr thing is crazy. I will know more about the follies tomorrow at the US. If they aren't mature I might push to do a dose of estrogen before taking the progesterone to get my period started (it seemed to really make me have ovulation type effects I haven't really ever seen before with out a triggert...etc. I am also I think going to see if I get injectables if this cycle isn't a go. At least it would be good to know how I respond to them while I have a dr that might be willing to give them to me. I will report back tomorrow.

@JAH87 I had bad headaches and hot flashes while on Femara/Letrozole. Hopefully they will subside after you stop the meds.

@Bai-by2016 I had some serious irritation "down there" with the suppositories.. made me feel like I had a bad YI so they figured I was having a reaction to whatever was used to compound the suppositories. PIO hasn't been as bad as I imagined. My left side is always more painful but its not bad. Keep your head up girl!

So sorry to read about all the BFN's coming through! Hang in there ladies!

Ugh, Shoot! I ran into the same thing on Femara. I did a cycle 100 years ago where I started with 2.5mg for 5 days and then bumped up to 7.5 for 5 days and just had a few follies. So far, injectibles are the only thing that really stim my follies.

I don't have a HPT at home... so it should be easy not to test tonight or tomorrow but it's almost all i can think about!!! I'm not feeling particularly hopeful because, honestly, i don't feel anything at all... i'm tired (but i flew home on a redeye Saturday night)... and other than that I have zero symptoms. I don't even feel like AF is coming -- which i guess is good.... but, I'm wondering if i can feel nothing and still be pregnant. I guess I'll find out tomorrow! Your beta is Wednesday?
