In August!? What state do you live in?

I I had to think entirely too long to remember what month it is.
  • @MrsVoorhees - Indiana. We can get tornado warnings from April all the way through October. And there has even been the occasional November tornado.

The more I thought about it, I remember a pretty bad December tornado here. I'm in Oklahoma, usually if we can make it through May, we are good! But there are definitely randoms. Is it over yet?
  • @MrsVoorhees - my first thought was "aren't you in Oklahoma? Aren't tornados a year-round and totally normal thing there?"

Shows how much I know about geography and weather patterns ;) I don't know why, but I always imagined Oklahoma to have a lot of tornados.
  • @MrsVoorhees - yes the tornado warning is over.  We had to sit in the conference center for close to an hour.

  • @marajay6 i just saw on my local news, tornadoes went through Kokomo and Indy. Yikessss i didnt know we were getting weather today...passed by us , im in southern indiana, but that stuff always freaks me out
  • @marajay6 Liked your last comment for support, not because you were taking shelter for almost an hour. Sorry you were stuck so long! We got home from being downtown about half an hour before one touched down there. My SIL and brother both had to take shelter at work today as well. I'm so glad I asked DH to take the day off for my birthday. I probably would have spent the afternoon alone and worrying about him (even though I know, rationally, he was safe).

@UnwritteN12 it's definitely something that is being used more in recent decades in the US. I believe it's been used in England since the 60s, maybe earlier!

Thanks for mentioning how awesome nitrous is @kosmo86 My hospital offers nitrous and I am planning to use it as I *hope* to do this labour with no epidural. I mean, it's not off the table completely but I'm not going in with the mindset of give it to me ASAP! Hope your induction speeds up for you.

@camichael84 A brownie a la mode with birthday cake still to come sounds blissful. I'm a little jealous

Went out shopping with MIL today and am so pooped now. I did get some beautiful new sheets at least! Time to catch up on here and hope my FI will figure out dinner for us tonight.

  • I must've missed that joke. Glad it wasn't meant to be mean :)

  • My WTF Wednesday rant:

I'm just a little sad, y'all. Last Saturday I sent out a long, detailed email to my family (my dad, dad's g/f, all six siblings and their spouses, and my niece and nephew) about my c/s on Friday and baby girl's arrival. I wanted to let everyone know when I was going into surgery, and at what time I should be recovered enough for everyone to come in and see her. My SIL is the ONLY person who responded over the weekend. My dad sent a one sentence response today (5 days after I sent the email). NO ONE ELSE in my family has responded or called me to ask how I'm feeling or to say they are excited about the new baby or tell me when/if they are visiting us or to ask if we need anything. NOT ONE. My sister is excluded from this because I talk to her pretty much every other day anyway, but my other siblings and I don't talk or see each other as much, since they don't live here. My dad lives 15 minutes away.

But then dad takes the time to write out my nephew (who's 28) a happy birthday email yesterday, to which EVERYONE in the family promptly responded.

Last night I finally cried about it, and it's still bumming me out. Luckily DH's family has been so present and supportive or I don't know what I would do. This isn't normal or expected behavior from my family. We all stay in touch and get together when we can, and I love them all dearly. This is just so bizarre, I don't know why nobody seems to care about this huge family/life event that's happening in TWO DAYS. It's bad enough that my mom isn't here to see this child being born (she was my labor coach/support with DD1), but right now I feel like I have no family.

Sorry, just had to get that off my chest.

  • Aw, @thetamedshrew I'm sorry that you are feeling neglected by your family! That's a terrible feeling and I'm sure not intentional as you say that your family is generally quite close. No words of wisdom (sorry) just wanted to say that sucks and I hope that they are there for you once the baby comes! All the best for your c-section on Friday :)
  • @TheTamedShrew I'm so sorry your family is making you feel so crappy! I have no good advice at all, and I'm hoping that they show you just how excited they are once your little one has arrived! Don't feel bad for crying about it though, it's upsetting and I'd be crying too. Try to focus on you and your babe and hopefully it was just an unfortunate delay in communication on their part. Hang in there!
  • @TheTamedShrew - I'm really sorry to hear that. I don't blame you for being upset but, as pps have said, hopefully once LO is here, they'll show you (and LO) all the love. Hang in there. Friday is right around the corner and nothing cheers a person up like baby snuggles! <3

  • @RG1 it's like when you quote a line from a movie thinking you're being so witty, and then everyone goes quiet and you realize no one around you has seen that movie. Awkward.

Also, I'm hardly ever in HDBD anyway, so this week is no different for me!

We do have a ton of tornadoes, and ours tend to be really bad. May is the main time we have them. It's weird living here because we cconsider May as tornado season, but we do
get them year round. The ones throughout the year don't phase us though because the May tornadoes are the ones that are F4, F5. Random, I got hkme and there was a tornado warning in the state, but nowhere close to us haha!

@alyeena Yes that's the part I don't get either! I used to always think those comments were ridiculous too because we tried for many months and I was always so jealous of pregnant people. But now the struggle is real hahah
