@AnnaS930 I've been meaning to ask bc I need to do it too - do you just drop the pacifiers into boiling water? How long? Do you use soap or anything too?
@LARK81 I get pregnancy nose, too! It was worse last time, but my overall swelling was worse as well. It also makes me self-conscious, but no one ever pointed it out. Your neighbor totally was a TW for mentioning it. If it helps, for me the last time, it went away within several weeks of giving birth!
@AmMcc12 Like @AnnaS930 I also have toddler items on our registries. Most notably are the conversion kits for McKenna's crib to make it a toddler bed and full sized. Why not save 15% while I can?
I'm going to just go ahead and de-lurk. I feel weird doing it now, towards the end of pregnancy, but feel like now is when I'm starting to freak out. Not sure what to do? Jump into some threads? Hang back? I swear I won't post about my mucous plug. Anyhow, just saying hi, baby #3, team green, 35wks.

De-lurk away and jump in wherever you're comfortable. Any topic is fair game, except explicit details of bodily functions, which you already know.

Jump in all you want! But make sure you use the search function and spare us the details of your MP welcome!

Great to have you here! Looking forward to getting to know you Jump in whenever you feel comfortable, we're a pretty easy group to get to know (MP descriptions aside).
Just found out my parents are going on a 2 week trip next week. They are our hospital plan for watching DD (especially if I go into labor at night while she's sleeping), I'll be 37 weeks when they leave. I'm trying to go with the flow, they will be watching baby for her first year so I understand the need to get away while they can, I'm just freaking out a bit that they waited until the last second to tell us. When I mentioned to my dad that I'd be 39 weeks by the time they get back, he said "Oh we'll only be 8 hours away, so call us if you go into labor and we'll drive back".

I've been really into sloths today, mostly because I feel like one. Soooo
Also, I've been posting about my MP in the labor thread. Sorry y'all
Is it bad to put NBR items on your registry just to use the completion code?
Hells no! In all truthfulness, I *almost* added a bottle of expensive bourbon on my babylist registry since you can add anything from any website you want on there (and this was before my shower...granted, they don't give you a completion code...but still.)
DH walked away with the scanner for a bit while we were registering in the store. When I went to finalize our registry online after I noticed he registered for magnum condoms and a Star Wars lego set.
So I'll put a full update in the appointments thread and probably a small update in the labor thread since I was posting there last night (is that overkill?) but wanted to post about my swelling here since it was brought up before. OB made no mention of my 5lb weight gain this week. She did, however, comment on my belly (measuring very large due to fluid) and acknowledged my feet/ankles as well. No cause for concern with the swelling - just gotta stay off my feet more.
@seitzy3 Totally acceptable posts about your MP since you A) posted them in the proper thread B ) didn't ask something that could have very obviously been answered by google
I'm waiting for a friend at a restaurant and baby is going crazy. The bump is shifting and is all kinds of lopsided plus it is jumping because baby has the hiccups. I just caught the guy across from me trying very hard to not look completely disgusted by my moving belly. It's amusing to no end
@seitzy3 yeah, you did post about your MP. The difference is that you didn't SS it up and make a new post dedicated to describing it, ask if we could look into a magic ball and tell you exactly when labour would start... Oh and you didn't use the word "gelatinous" *barf*.
my husband told me today that baby is going to stay put until 40 weeks. I made a face and he's like "you want him earlier?!" Umm yea, I do. There's no way my doc is gonna let me go all the way to 40 anyways, so I'm not sure where his denial is coming from lol.
Wife to A; Mama to C (2009), N (2011), H (2014) & baby F due 09/16/16
@Themaritimemama my husband is in denial as well. For the longest time he kept saying that the baby would be late and it would be great if I went into labor on Sept. 6th (EDD is 9/1) so that he could have more time off. Gee hun, I'll get right on that for you! Where's a side eyeing emoji when you need one... Yesterday I found out we need to induce this Sunday and he says ok and then tells me he's going to go change the oil in both our cars. Not quite the reaction I was expecting. Finding the carseat base is more what I had in mind...but maybe L&D ask when the last oil change was now upon checking out....

You're not alone with wanting LO to come a bit early. At my last appointment my nurse told me I could start praying for labor in 3 weeks, LOL. I'm hoping our LO will decide to make an appearance shortly after the 38 week mark, but I don't really feel like that's going to happen. Deep down in my bones I have a sneaking suspicion that I'm going to go late.
Re Registry Stuff: I didn't even think about adding extra items that weren't baby related in my basket for the completion discount. Drat! I've already used it too, darn. And funnily enough it only covered 2 of the items that were left. All off the other baby stuff (including bottles, WHAT?) didn't count towards the discount for some reason. Pfffft.
Random: A friend of mine stopped by today with her two kiddos bearing an armload of maternity clothes. I'm down to 3 shirts and 3 pairs of shorts because I've grown out of everything else. BTDT mom to the rescue! I'm so grateful to be wearing something that's NOT shorts and a t-shirt, even if it is just jeans and a tanktop instead.
Also, this friend cloth diapers with the same brand of "One-Size Snap" diapers that we bought. I observed her expertly changing her DD's diaper and I was like "OH! That's how it works?!" Youtube videos are nothing like watching a seasoned mom in action. I feel a lot less intimidated by those things now. Bring. It. On.
@PSUBecky23--how did your appointment go? Did baby start moving for you?
Thanks for checking up on me! Strong heartbeat and baby has been moving sporadically. OB wasn't concerned as long as the movement is there. Reassured me that baby is just running out of room and I'm too busy with work/three year old.
@bibliobebe I was beyond convinced I was going to go way late because I had zero signs of labor, including no BH. Reese surprised me at 38w2d so anything can happen
@COmama87 ee! Exciting for you to be induced this Sunday! Side eye to your husband about changing the oil lol. If I say I feel crampy or anything my husband is all "BUT WHAT DOES IT MEAN?! You can't be going into labour yet" I think because we've been sent to induce each time that he doesn't think that you can go into labour spontaneously before your due date lol.
@Bibliobebe 38 weeks is a good time! Im not worried about having one 37 and over. My DD2 was 37+3 and we had no issues. And you never know! I thought most FTMs were overdue (I was 12 days late with my first ) but from the poll we had earlier, it seemed to vary quite a bit!

My DH thought my EDD was the day I would hit 42 weeks. So now he's bummed out thinking we could go over a week later than the EDD I guess he never did the math...
Ok so as if my day didn't try to stress me out enough knowing i am going to induce next week. Now the power has been out for 3 hours. Nothing worse then sweating in your own house! Really wish i at least had a fan i could turn on!

Procrastination attempt for the day: I rewashed all the baby clothes, blankets, burp clothes, wash clothes, basically all the things. And then took them to my moms to hang on her laundry line. And now I'm lying in the pile of said baby things inhaling like a weirdo. Even my cats were judging me, like what are you doing crazy lady, you should be studying ECG rhythms right now, do you even KNOW what kind of effect hypokalemia has on the heart? (No, no I don't, at least not as well as I should).
But in happier news, I think we finally settled on a name! I've been diehard for the name Evelyn for years, and DH loved it too, until this very useless, annoying and rude woman started working with him who happens to have the same name. I've met her more than a few times, and she's probably one of the most rude human beings ever. So we kind of fell off track with Evelyn for a baby girl name. We had Amelia and Addison in our back pocket as maybes just in case baby girl didn't feel like an Evelyn when she was born. Well last night, for some reason it just clicked, this baby girl is an Amelia, and DH is thrilled. He said for weeks when he thinks about her he calls her Amelia in his head. Now we just have to figure out a middle name.. it'll either be Amelia Lillian for my great great grandmother (who was a total badass and I admire her hugely, always have) or Amelia Janet for DH's aunt who passed away a few years ago from breast cancer.
@kosmo86 ugh that stinks that your power is out. Ours kept going on and off on the weekend. Luckily it didn't last too long, but my biggest worry was the temperature and the possibility of food going bad. What? I like food.
@yellowrose314 Love the name Amelia! That's my bff since kindergarten's name so my DH vetoed it for us to use, but I love it and would've used it in a heartbeat! Eta wording
So hard keeping up with this thread after being away this afternoon! I finally got through all the stuff from our baby shower this weekend and got the spare room all set up. Big thanks to everyone who thought of my aunt yesterday. Unfortunately, the results weren't as we hoped but we are remaining optimistic.
@jensou congrats on your beautiful girl!!!! She is precious and perfect
@PSUBecky23 glad your appointment went well and all is good with LO. I know I freak out too when my little guy has lazy days.
@LARK81 I have "pregnancy nose" too. Your neighbor is a jerk and deserves a punch in the nose.
Re: August Randoms!!!
Nope. I bought clothes for me off my Target registry.
@AmMcc12 Like @AnnaS930 I also have toddler items on our registries. Most notably are the conversion kits for McKenna's crib to make it a toddler bed and full sized. Why not save 15% while I can?
@jbscmama I usually give mine a quick scrub with dish soap and then throw into a boiling pot of water for 10min.
I totally forgot that we also have the bottle sterilizer that you put in the microwave for 2min, which you can also throw the pacis in.

I was active, then I got very busy finishing up school so I was a lurker, and now I'm active again. Just jump in!
(I'm a stm and did not share the registry or have a shower. Not expecting friends to buy me board games, to be clear.)
*not true. Feels true though.
