I saw this tread on the July 2016 board and loved reading everyone's responses. So here is a place for us to put our "Mom Confessions"
Mine are:
- I have gotten way to good at holding the bottle with my chin to reach for my phone, and learning to use said phone one handed.
- I came to check on DS this morning during his nap and noticed he had spit up everywhere. All on himself and his sheets. I felt so horrible. I suck at the whole burping thing. Obviously need to work a little harder.
34 Mother of 4 year old and 2 Labs. Happily Married to my Hubs of 6 years.
I sometimes skip burping after the second breast because she's asleep and I don't want to chance it.
We have been giving DD a pacifier. I feel like it hasn't made for any nipple confusion yet, but what do I know, it's been a week and I'm a FTM.
My house is a freaking disaster and for the first time in my life I don't give a crap. As long as the baby is not crying and i can get any sort of sleep, those are top priorities.
Also I am wearing the same nightgown three days in a row, partly because I don't want to do laundry for myself and party because I'm too emotional to try anything else on in my closet at this point.

10/2017: Twins confirmed with TTTS at 22 weeks. 10/10/17 Twin B passed after in utero placenta surgery 11/2/17 Twin A & B born 11/26/17: Twin A passed after 24 days fighting in the NICU Benched 6 months BFP: 6/28/18 MC:7/16/18 BO BFP: 10/2/18 EDD 6/15/18
Oh yeah, and I don't care if DD takes almost an hour to nurse sometimes because I've gotten really good at setting her on a boob so my hands are free to surf the Internet. It's nice to have that time to unwind and catch up on Facebook, texts, Internet shop. And a bonus is she isn't crying during a nursing session. Win win.

Baby is 3 weeks old and I've already caved in exclusively breast feeding and breast milk. I formula fed with DD. So I wanted to try breast feeding. The hospital gave me nipple shields and told my nipples are flat. Well only one nipple has changed and it's my dud. I had some sort of engorgement/clogged duct issue this past weekend for the second time that caused high fevers all day, again. I've tried nursing without the shields and he won't latch For very long on the stud boob which I assume is from my flat nipple (lol). In the past two days what is usually a 15-25 min max nursing session has turned into an hour long struggle where he's still hungry afterwards. I think he's not getting what he needs and everything I've read And been told is that the shield can cause clogging etc... So I made the choice to breastfeed and supplement with formula. Guess I'll see how it goes, I'm not a judgemental person whatsoever on formula feeding. I did it before, but I'm being really hard on myself about it. I wish I didn't feel guilty about it. DH said look at our daughter she's perfect, and she was formula fed. Stop being so hard on yourself. But I'm still struggling some. But I also feel like it's not working and I'm feeling anxiety before feedings and completely worn down by it all. Feels good to get that all out.
My day doesn't start till about 4:00pm, basically when hubby gets home, until then I sit on the couch cuddling LO and hardly even get up to pee.
@msdidonato Ditto on the holding bottle with chin and using phone with one hand, although I have an iPhone 6 Plus and it's super hard reaching across the screen but I'm learning!
@jacmkelley You're a good mom and you are doing what is best for your baby.
I'm not going to lie, somehow this made me feel better. I keep telling myself I need no one else's validation. But to hear another mom say that feels really good. Thank you for taking the time to say that. It genuinely eased my heart some.
I had planned on the baby sleeping in the RnP at night. I know it's not doctor approved but I've read about so many moms doing it. It fits perfectly next to the bed. Should I reconsider doing that?
My back up was to let her sleep in the pack-n-play since it has the diaper changer attachment. I could use the flat mattress or the bassinet attachment? Do any of you guys use this?
@Hannah0726 we were going to use the pack and play, but the kitties think it's their bed so we didn't want to risk them sitting on the little one. We use the rock and play... it's a life saver! I've been trying to do one nap a day in the crib so hopefully it will make for an easier transition when the time comes.
We use the rock n play for some naps as well as his seat for when wete eating dinner because it's easy to pick up and move. During the day and at night, he sleeps in the bassinet attachment in the pack n play. Sometimes his kitty sister will join him and she'll sleep under the diaper changing attachment while he's interested he bassinet.
@jacmkelley I felt the same way when we supplemented during C's first week because he tore up my nips. You're a great mom and recognizing that your child may need some supplemental nutrition and doing it, reaffirms that!
@AliKay20. I was literally smelling JJs head when I read that. Poor baby must have felt like he was on a trampoline bc I was laughing so hard after that!!
34 Mother of 4 year old and 2 Labs. Happily Married to my Hubs of 6 years.
Yesss! @AliKay20 I totally give Peter a bath and then ruin his hair from snuggling so often that it gets oily! I seriously wonder - am I that disgusting wtf why is his hair so oily?! Lol
Also have contemplated a boob pic once or twice didn't know if that was weird lol. Thanks for confirming that even if it is I'm not alone.
Also have contemplated a boob pic once or twice didn't know if that was weird lol. Thanks for confirming that even if it is I'm not alone.
Not weird at all! I love when baby puts hand over my boob that she's on. Idk what it is - it's just so loving and precious... #thathandplacementtho
until of course she gets fussy and starts nibbling/pulling on my nip.
We have a love/hate relationship at our nursing sessions. Thankfully, more times than not, it's love.
I had to delete my FB and Instagram apps to make more space for me to take photos of baby (that's right, ladies. TB app is more important than some lame social media apps that take up a bunch of space).
I have practically stopped chewing my food. J decides he's hungry too every time I try to eat, so I inhale what I can as fast as I can. I did just eat 6 Oreos though, and took my time with them.
@jacmkelley Ditto what others have said. You're doing what's best for your baby, and that makes you a great momma.
@AliKay20 I let ours sleep in the RnP when all else fails as well. I've also slept in the recliner with him between feedings at night. Sometimes we gotta do what we gotta do!

@Mrsrundell yaaaas girl! Read this one outloud to DH and he thought it was hilarious.

@Mrsrundell hahaha at least you put on a robe! Sometimes, I walk around with just grannie panties and hands free pumping bra with my nips sticking out through the slits of the bra (where the pumps go).
@Mrsrundell@AliKay20 I feel like once you reach the end of pregnancy and give birth, all sense of modesty are out the window. I laugh at my silly self when I was self conscious of DH being there for the first vaginal ultrasound. Ha!
Now poor DH has seen it all and then some. I mean the man helped me with my first postpartum shower in which I sat there bleeding, crying, passing clots, and looking like a deflated sad rag doll.

Ladies I just laughed at everything I just read! @midwestbaby my hubby had to help with my shower too... there was tons of gunk left on my back from the tape from the epidural. .. and my 6 year old was there too. He had to come in the bathroom to see what we were doing! And I totally spent the first week or so as naked as possible. I already have no problem whipping out my boobs to nurse. Although I'm pretty sure I cleared a group of people at a family reunion sunday. I went to nurse Levi, and when I looked up a few minutes later the 6 or 7 people that I'd been sitting by were gone! Apparently they were not as comfortable as I was lol. Whatever. And I definitely have plenty of boob shots on my phone too. Pretty sure my FIL saw them as he scrolled through my phone last week looking at all the pics of the kids, and idc. It's a precious time that will be over too soon! I'm also jealous of all you that have a rnp... I really wanted one but never found one at a garage sale and I couldn't bring myself to spent $80 on one. But now I'm thinking I should have.
@AliKay20 I told dh one night after baby's bath, while sniffing his head, that that was where 2nd, 3rd, and 4th babies came from! It's like a mom high lol. It's a smell you never forget and crave when they get older.
Oh yeah, I'm on board with the cosleep thing these days. I've always tried to avoid it, but did it once in a while with my second kid. I do it whenever baby won't sleep in his bassinet these days. Which seems to be every other night after the first feeding, and almost every morning after the second feeding. I make it as safe as possible, but it still makes me nervous. But we all need the sleep.
Went to pay our electric bill today. It was double what it normally is. And it's totally my fault. I was too lazy to turn the pool filter on and off every day, so I just left it on. And last month was so hot, and I was so pregnant I had my house set to 68 for weeks. That was a shock, and now I probably won't be buying a new diaper bag this week. Bummer
I woke up at 10:30 AM and nursed baby right away then it was already lunch time. I reasoned with myself and decided to eat lunch first then brush teeth. I nursed right after lunch and got sidetracked with other things like TB and Mario Kart. Now it's a little past 7 PM and I think I'll just eat dinner then brush my teeth. Idk, at this point, what does it matter? I smell like fenugreek and maple syrup anyway. Herb-y & sweet to baby A. She can't tell me I stink right now so I'll take this opportune time to stink...
DD asked for baccon for dinner. DH said sure and so DD had baccon for dinner. That's a win, I made DH give her her vitamins too. She's almost 3 and has been in a chicken nuggets and oatmeal phase, I wish she had asked for one of those. She is a very picky eater and hardly eats anything.
Sometimes my baby looks like Jabba the Hutt. I feel horrible for saying this because he is obviously the cutest baby in the world. But he does this thing where he squishes his face back and pokes out his tongue and well...
LO peed out of his diaper and some got on the swing. Instead of pulling the pad off and washing it, again, I just let it dry. I'm sure this will happen again before he's all healed from the circ, so I'm waiting it out before I wash it.

@bananers I read my husband your hilarious post and he said, "where is the photo for comparison?" So I suppose on his behalf, please try to capture a photo of your little Jabba in action! Our Baby E gets pretty close in this photo, but it's not quite a dead-ringer.
Also, I know that I am in bad moms club for propping him in that Boppy... it was temporary. Don't show my MIL. She is already convinced I am going to destroy this baby and doesn't need any photos to support her claim.

Same with the boppy pillow. Clearly the tag on it says not intended for sleep.
Sometimes, it's the only method to get her to calm down and fall asleep. I also think it helps with her gas as she's somewhat at an angle.
My back up was to let her sleep in the pack-n-play since it has the diaper changer attachment. I could use the flat mattress or the bassinet attachment? Do any of you guys use this?
We use the pack n play and RnP during the day for naps now.
