@krzyriver - tell him I said he'd be wishing you were a "mean girl" when some crazy showed up at your door because you were too nice to decline a FB request lol we don't think you're mean!
@bnsmith85 Y'all are just happy you don't have to wade through all the rando requests. Lol. I'm super nice when I reject people too, so I don't know why he thinks I'm such a bully!?
Eta: That's true, I didn't think to tell him that one. I'll be sure to mention it. Lol
I'm weirded out because the most recent has been a member 10 years?? And another badge say, "No one remembers a time when this person wasn't a member" but then doesn't have any posts?
@krzyriver-@nlane0723 said what I was thinking! And I think @allythekid is the 1 person who voted for Shoshanna. We know how she likes to throw those off the wall ones out there and see who bites (no offense, of course, to anyone who is named or will name their baby that. It just doesn't seem like it goes with the other choices at all.)
I didn't either. You're up late @bnsmith85! You're a fellow east coaster!
I knoooow! Omg... I'm wide awake for no reason at all. And tomorrow starts the weekend I have my bestie's 19mo (offered to watch so they could take a babymoon) so I get to be extra exhausted for that lol.
It is Friday morning in Germany! And I was just awoken by the dog letting loose the world's most disgusting fart - I jumped out of bed gagging to open the window. He, of course, is completely unfazed. So much for sleeping in
Also, the comment I was originally going to make before being gassed..
My DH is the mean girl in our relationship and is proud when I tell someone off, haha. There's an expression in German: Wenn dir einer blöd kommt musst du ihm noch blöder kommen, which means if someone is mean/dumb/stupid to you, you have to be meaner/dumber/stupider to them. The concept of "if you don't have something nice to say, don't say anything at all" is completely foreign.
Question about the showering thing - I was thinking newborns sleep a lot (and I can take a shower in just a couple mins if needed)...so why am I always getting told that it becomes a luxury to get a shower?
@uponastar16 I recently went back and read through a journal I kept when DS was a newborn. At 4 1/2 weeks old, the longest he'd slept consecutively during the day was 45 minutes. needless to say, when he was "sleeping," I was either resting myself, or stuck holding him.

I think generally what people mean is that taking a slow, leisurely shower is a luxury. Sure, you can take the rock n play into the bathroom and lay the baby down, then jump in the shower and clean the important bits for 2 minutes, but they're not the same. However, like all things, this too passes.

Maybe that's where my DH gets his sense of response from. He is of German heritage (not that he's ever been there himself, though we want to go someday!) and he definitely reacts this way! Ahhhh it all makes sense finally!!

Omg, I made it through all the comments! I've been super super MIA for a while- sorry a Moving across country while pregnant= not recommended. The truck shows up in less than a week, so the end is in sight! I can't wait to get some free time back! Not to mention eliminating some stress.
On the shower topic- I was lucky that DD took decent naps, but on her off days I had no qualms with handing her off to DH when he was home from work. He got a shower daily AND more uninterrupted sleep, not to mention some adult time. A shower was all I asked. Fortunately he was cool with it. Showers are kind of my recharge time (still are), so I felt like I handled everything better after a shower.
I also now feel like I need to wade into the UO thread- thanks for the tip everyone!
Well, I don't think I'll ever catch up with everything this morning, but I'd just like to say @ashleyp625 Nope, to the name! Can't blame the class clown for that one this time haha
You'll all be happy to know that I showered this morning after approximately 94 hours. Mainly because I need to get blood drawn and I don't want to stanky stank. I even shaved and everything.
@books&icecream My husband is the same way. Sometimes he's so snarky that people don't know if he's being serious or not. I am eternally too nice, so sometimes it's a good balance to have him be the mean girl!
I almost called into work this morning. DH had to leave early, I was in the bed all snuggly with my two pups, and it's raining. Perfect "imma stay in dis bed all day" conditions, right?!
Buuuuuuut I chickened out. I couldn't do it. I've been working for the same company for 8 years and 2 months and I've never called in. Literally. Never. What is wrong with me that I can't do it???
I get it @copperboom86. My dad was always super weird about taking off of work/school unless we were dying, so he's given me a complex about it too. Even when I take a sick day ahead of time now, I waffle about it for a few hours- do I really need it? My husband is always like, would you just do it already? Hope your day flies by so you can get back to the puppies!
@ibabyloveb87 - Nope, never. Not even for being legitimately sick. I just always come to work. It's what I do. Maybe the "I've worked here for over 8 years and I've never once called in" card will come in handy after I have the baby.
@ashleyp625 - I think that's where mine comes from, too. I had perfect attendance in high school and only missed two days in middle school and that was because my grandmother died, so wake and funeral. My parents had the same "you go unless you're dying" rule and I'm generally a very healthy person, so no off days for me!
@CopperBoom86... I get it! If I were in your shoes, today would be one of those days where I roll in looking a mess (to me anyway) because I spent so much time debating on getting up or being "sick" that day. lol I also never call out... ESPECIALLY now that I work from home. 2 exceptions... the one time DH and I both got the flu back when I worked in healthcare. That shit is no joke plus, no spreading germs to patients. And once when I literally couldn't stop puking... and even then I had a sales rep call me needing me to jump on a client call mid-day, so I did. Not so fun fact... I puked while on mute during that call lol #dedication
@UponAStar16 My DD would inevitably wake up and start crying as soon as I stepped in the shower, no matter what. If I didn't take a shower, she would sleep for an hour. (Not really, but that's how I remember it now 5 years later.) And let me tell you, there is nothing relaxing about a shower when your baby is screaming for you. When she got older, I could put her in the bouncy seat or Bumbo with some toys and talk or sing to her while I took a shower.
I do sometimes call out, but only if I'm contagious, vomiting, or have diarrhea. I work in a hospital, so I'd rather not infect my coworkers and patients. I also called out once when I broke my toe and couldn't walk, but that's legit since I have to be able to walk to work. It's a rare occasion that it happens and I always feel so guilty for calling out, though. Like dreading the call guilty. My husband will call out if he sneezes.
Random: Did anybody end up getting laid last night? By the time my kids went to bed, my libido took a serious nose dive and I was falling asleep on myself even though FI was hot, bothered, and ready to go... SWERVE.

I was craving Mexican, so we had dinner at our local hole-in-the-wall Mexican restaurant and then both slipped peacefully into taco comas.
