One more day until our completion discount on Amazon! (Second child, so it's a private registry.) We won't need the crib for probably another 8 months, but you better believe it'll be in my cart tomorrow morning, along with the double stroller.
I'm not sure that I can handle 9 more weeks of people commenting on how big I am or how tired I look. I'm only going to get bigger, folks, and that tired look is going to be around for MONTHS. Better get used to it!
One of our dogs got bit by a snake yesterday (we think it was a copperhead since those are the most common poisonous snakes near us, but we didn't see it happen). His whole foot and leg were swollen and HUGE! DH is the worst at overreacting in emergency situations and wanted to go to the emergency vet right away (it's at least $250 to just be seen). I got him calm enough to let me do some research and him call the emergency hotline.
We were told to keep him still, give him Benadryl, and watch the swelling. As long as it didn't spread to his chest/neck/face, he should be fine. We also had to keep pressing his foot to make sure it didn't go numb (which it didn't). The swelling had decreased significantly by the evening and more so over night. He is a tough little guy!
@emmaaa Poor little fella, FX for a speedy recovery for your pup! Copperheads are thick this year, I caught a baby on my back porch early this summer and I live in town...
@AllyTheKid We live in the sticks and they are so heavy in the woods this year. DH came up on a nest of them in his shop early summer. Luckily, by nature, they aren't aggressive until you make them feel threatened. We think our dog, was running through the woods and just stepped on it or something.
@emmaaa That's one good thing about them, the baby I caught didn't even flinch until I had a jar over him, needless to say that got him angry pretty quick though. We're only a mile into town, so we've had lots of adventurous snakes out of the woods around our house, most just garters and bull snakes thankfully. I can deal with those! Hopefully you guys or your pup don't run into anymore.
@emmaaa - Oh my gosh, poor pup! Just reading that gave me so much anxiety. I would've definitely been the one freaking out and insisting on going to the emergency vet lol. Good for you for staying calm and saving that money!

Same! So glad you were able to get the swelling down. Poor little bub

FWIW, this same dog (along with one other) got sprayed by a skunk last week. That smell take weeks to go away. Those two haven't been allowed inside since then but obviously we have to keep him in while he is healing...even if he makes the house kind of smell like skunk,
Glad your dog is OK! I agree that I would have been freaking out. DH is the calm one in scary situations but our dogs are his boys and I'm not sure he would be as clam when it came to one of them. I'm sure we would have been at the emergency vet...but poisonous snakes are not common around here. Thankfully. Growing up our dog got stung by a bee and his whole headed swelled up - it was so sad. But we learned to just give him benadryl and the swelling would go down.
Edited because I can't spell.

I seriously would probably need medical attention if I ever saw a snake IRL that was not part of some exhibit.
@emmaaa I am so glad your fur baby is doing okay. I've had to make that choice multiple times to just call the hotline and wait vs. use the emergency vet. Like clockwork my animals always got sick or something happened on Friday or holidays. It is a true nightmare having to make that decision. In fact, I haven't been able to let go and move on after the loss of my 3 animals and doubt I will ever be able to have one again.
@MorganL925 I ended up also texting a friend of mine who is a vet tech (and whose FI is a vet) to ask her opinion. She said that dogs react very differently to poisonous snakes than humans and *generally* they will be okay if you get the swelling to go down. The person on the emergency hotline also told us the chances of him dying were very slim given the area of the bite.
@brzvice That always seems to be the case with us as well and their prices are so high. Obviously, if there isn't a way we can treat them at home, I would take them to the vet, but we were told they would be doing the same treatment we did at home at the emergency office (unless the issue got worse). We have 5 dogs and all but one are outside dogs (they come in for a few hours every evening) so we have seen our fair share of dog accidents and having to treat them.
I'm sorry about the loss of your pets! It is truly hard to get over it
Question: Does anybody use or plan to use My fitness Pal after the babes are born? If so, would anybody be interested in forming a little PP fitness support circle on there? I haven't been active on there since 2011/2012 trying to lose weight PP with DD, but I reinstalled the app and am going to get back on board.
@AllyTheKid I plan to use it! I was religious with it prior to my BFP. I find it really helpful. I was also going to see if anyone wanted to start a fitbit team.

@brzvice I'm so sorry to hear that. Animals are part of the family, it's so hard to say goodbye to them. Once my kitties go, I don't know if I'll want anymore either. They're my babies.
Ironically, since we're taking about animals and my kitty was sick a few weeks ago, my mother had to put her cat to sleep this morning. She's devastated because he's the youngest of all her cats. My dad is devastated because, once again, this happens while he's out of town. Not sure how my son is going to handle it. He's so sensitive and still hasn't moved on from when his mom put his dog to sleep 2 years ago....
@emmaaa oh my goodness! So glad pup is ok!! We've had a lot of snakes around our house too this summer but thankfully only garter snakes. Our dog grabbed one by the tail, but luckily it didn't react to him and DH yelled for him to drop it right away.
@MRSCORKER What's a fitbit team? I'm down for anything like that, MFP is the only app I've used before, but I'm sure I could adapt to anything! @krzyriver Excellent! Hopefully more ladies will be on board too

If you have a fitbit, you can connect with other people who have them. Then you can set goals, have step competitions, etc. It's just another accountability tool.

Yes please! Just please don't judge me by the amounts of wine I plan to consume
@AllyTheKid - I will also use MFP again PP. I used to follow Weight Watchers but prefer MFP. I was at my heaviest because of fertility meds when I got pregnant and have gained ~15lbs so I will have a good bit to lose PP. A support group would be awesome.

@AllyTheKid im planning on using MFP postpartum. I would love to be part of a post partum support group. Weight gain has been my major concern this pregnancy.
@AllyTheKid I was pretty good using My Fitness Pal before I got pregnant. I think I've opened it twice since then, but I'm planning to use it again after baby. Let's be friends! @annabenanna@MRSCORKER@krzyriver edit tags.

Weekly random - I cried and was so MAD last night when Pizza Hut delivered our pizzas and mine was PAN pizza. It was supposed to be hand tossed. I mean, I still ate it and am eating leftovers now... I did cry a little bit. And had DH side-eyeing and totally judging me the whole time. Then I sent an email to Pizza Hut because they've messed up our order before. I've been super crazy hormonal more recently.

Anyone else do the "only_______ more minutes before I can eat lunch" at work thing? I feel like I basically live my life in a constant cycle of when the next meal is coming.
Not even because I'm starving or anything, just... I like lunch, what can I say?
@MorganL925 I get upset about stuff like that even when I'm not pregnant! It's always the simplest things that get messed up and it's frustrating when you're paying for it.
I don't remember how to friend people on MFP but I'm down for being friends over there too!
Awesome! Okay so, is there a way to actually make a group on there or do we just add each other as friends? I'm looking through the app to see what the options are, and it's looking from what I can see like we just add each other. Anybody more skilled and knowledgeable when it comes to MFP that could offer some pointers in regards to this?
@emmaaa way to keep a cool head even though you were freaking out! Bodes well for parenthood. Snakes are something I could not handle.
@AllyTheKid I love MFP. I used it religiously before I got pregnant, but once I started gaining a lot of weight a few months ago, I got frustrated and gave up. I'm totally in if you'll have me.
@krzyriver I'm so sorry for your mom! My in-laws just had to put their dog down, but she was pretty old and they saw it coming for a long time. I can't imagine how hard it would be if it was unexpected.
@Allythekid I use MFP, but I've never been connected to anyone on there. I still use it to track my food some days - just to make sure I'm eating enough protein vs. fats vs. carbs. And, ya know, usually I have all the carbs and way too little protein...
Would definitely be up for it! But, fair warning, with DS1, it took me a good 7 or 8 months to get back to eating right/working out.
@AllyTheKid I'm down for MFP too! I used it a bunch last year. I've only opened it a few times during pregnancy and decided not to care. Soooo down for joining a group PP

It took me a long time to get back to it after my first too. I'm hoping having other ladies from the board checking in on me will provide some motivation to start earlier this time.
