  • Ugh TWW is hard! I'm so afraid to do something that might interfere with implantation or something...are there such things?! I'm sure I'm being over paranoid but TTCAL makes me so worried about doing something wrong (despite most losses being completely and utterly beyond our control) :(
  • @rainbowturtles Yup, it sure is! TTCAL sucks! I personally avoided carrying heavy things, too much exercise, and I tried really hard to make sure I had veggies every day. Also, from personal experience, getting a positive HPT or beta doesn't really help alleviate any fears/concerns, because you know the likelihood of miscarriage and loss, and it's happened to you before. I don't think I'll feel comfortable until I reach the first viability milestone, assuming I ever get that far. I hope you can find something to help take your mind off your tww!

  • Congrats to the recent BFPs!!

So I am somewhere between 5 DPO and 1 DPO haha. I usually ovulate around CD 16/17 per my OPKs but this month I started having pelvic twinges around CD 13 and had a positive OPK that day. I'm at CD 18 now. I haven't started temping yet so not for sure. This is cycle 3 for us trying since our MMC in March, and first cycle trying after our CP in May. We didn't try at all in July. I am feeling optimistic this month based on timing, and I had a very vivid dream of a positive test so we'll see! Going to try to not think of things too much if I can. Good luck to all of you out there!

I'm moving over here again since I got my crosshairs this morning. I may be 3 or 4 DPO because I missed a temp one day. At least the Olympics are going to make this month easer I since I will be somewhat distracted.

  • @Amdogger82  Congrats and FX to you!  My first pregnancy was my first MC.  I called my doctor as soon as I was confirmed, and they set up my 7 week ultrasound.  I asked about betas, but they said they were not needed.  (I did end up needing them when I started spotting a week later).  But call the doctor, and hopefully they will ease your mind about what you need!  And definitely ask them about the betas, especially if you think it may help you to relax.
Hopefully your first MC was just a chromosomal abnormality and you'll have a beautiful and healthy baby.

Congrats @Amdogger82!!! It's up to you if you want to get betas. The peace of mind can help to ease the PgAL brain early on. I ultimately chose not to inquire about betas for the reason you stated - my MMC was after a successful 8-week checkup (and if, God forbid, something happens with this one, same deal). Thus, betas early on wouldn't have really dealt with my specific fears. This pregnancy, I did use the CB weeks estimator until I got 3+ weeks to track things early on.

Nonetheless, only you can know your comfort and anxiety levels pertaining to this new pregnancy. If betas and early checkups with the doc help, then advocate for yourself.  I wish you a sticky bean and a H&H 9 months! I hope you'll join us in discussions on the TTCAL grad group!

  • @amdogger82 congrats on the BFP! I also toy with the idea for when I get another (hopefully) BFP about when to call the doctor as my MMC was my 1st pregnancy as well. I agree with everyone on here, doesn't hurt to call, they may do nothing different or they may see you earlier. I think it would put your mind at ease just to call! Once again congrats and wishing you a H&H 9 months!

  • @Amdogger82 Congratulations!! I personally would and will do betas again because my loss was chromosomal. My betas pointed to my loss at 5 weeks and as crappy as it was to live in anxiety for the next 7 weeks until my NT scan, I am glad that I had a good idea that things were not ok from the beginning. I feel like the fact that I wasn't 100% blindsided this time, I've been able to be less of a mess emotionally.

But it's totally a personal decision and I can definitely understand the desire to remain blissfully ignorant. Fx for a healthy happy 9 months!
  • I caved and tested today 9DPO and BFN. Yesterday I was convinced I'm ku and today and I'm totally convinced I'm not. I'm ss like crazy but all I can come up with is an achy slightly crampy uterus. I wish I could turn off my TTCAL brain during TWW, I drive myself bsc. At least I'll be out of my misery in a few days.

    Congratulations @Amdogger82!!

I didn't do betas until I was 6 weeks along but they really only did it because they wanted to make sure they were over 5000 before doing my dating ultrasound. I had progesterone checked at that time too. I just did the one draw, didn't track if they were doubling or anything because they were at the appropriate level. Do whatever you think is best for you!
  • @Amdogger82 CONGRATS!!! It's kind of *funny* because when I was congratulating @AandDM2014 I actually almost tagged you...now here I am tagging and congratulating you!!! :):)

@Amdogger82 Congratulations! I had betas and Friday and Monday to make sure it was doubling. Neither of mine were normal from the beginning, so I was going to drive myself crazy. I know it doesn't mean that everything will be okay, but it gives me a little piece of mind.
