For those of you with multiple kiddos in carseats how do you arrange them to fit in your car? I know a lot of this depends on your car make/model, but it scares me to think of putting an infant on the outside seat. Is it generally unsafe to put an infant seat in the center and a RF toddler on the side?

I've been thinking about this as well. When we leave the hospital they have someone with lots of car seat knowledge (I hope? Ha) come out and check the seat to make sure it is safely and correctly installed so I figured if anything they could tell us the safest solution. When I had my DD the lady seemed to know her shit so I trust their advice.
Once we get the anatomy scans done, a bunch of trolls with "gender disappointment" will post asking us if we think the tech was wrong. I'm sure it's really only the beginning with these types of posts!

I tried putting the infant carrier in the center, but it was impossible for my son to reach his buckle and fasten it. We ended up putting a car seat on both sides of the car. Plus, my son was 2 1/2 and I was terrified he would touch/scare/accidently harm the baby. At the time we were driving a Ford focus, not exactly the biggest backseat.
@kirstynikole we didn't feel like our seats ever fit right in the middle. My daughter has always been RF on the passenger side. She's almost 2 and I plan to keep her RF until 3. We will put the newbie on the other side. No need for the toddler to have to much access!
@LC12261012@kswiger06 I know more often than not baby will be fine on the side but I'm having some slight PTSD from this last accident since it was a side impact. the more I think about it the more I realize they need to be separate because DS will be 2.5 and I don't need him "helping" if baby starts crying. Lol
@kirstynikole i just typed kristynikole like 58 times.
anyway from what I understand the SAFEST car seat should be on the side not the middle, since you are eventually turning your kid in the convertible, they may be better off in the middle?
We're having to buy a new vehicle so next weekend we will be taking DS convertible car seat and the infant seat we still have. How they fit and space will probably be one of the big deciding factors for the next car, since we've already narrowed down due to budget and safety concerns.
@Gingersnap is the Diono one of the more narrow seats?
What does that even mean? How does plastic expire? I read that you should look for this "especially if you don't know the seat's history." Well, duh; you shouldn't use any car seat you don't know the history of. But this was DS's and I can attest that it's 100% accident free.
@Gingersnap I was wondering if those were the one's I heard about and I've heard great things about them. I love DS Britax convertible, but it is rather bulky. The Diono's look awesome for multiple carseats!

The plastic wears down over time, so it's not as durable if you were to get in an accident. We didn't need a new one last year, but still got a new one just to be on the safe side.
We have two sleeping beauties in heaven. Jack gained his wings on 09/02/2016. Kali gained her wings on 07/28/2015. They will be forever missed.

I don't have a link here but there are sources online. There could be small cracks not noticed or visible. Car seats go through extreme temperatures depending on where you live and apparently that causes a lot of wear on the seats. Beyond expiry the manufacturer may not be monitoring the integrity of the seat. Over 6-10 years it is likely there is better or safer technology available. There are better examples online.
I would not use it past expiry. Maybe the whole thing is made up but I won't risk it when a new seat isn't that much money.(you can get the $600 seat but there are some much less expensive)
I get all warm and fuzzy feeling when another month is started on the BMB.... April is officially up and running which means we are getting closer to our EDD (which obviously is still forever away) and further and further away from being the newbs!
When my youngest was born I had three across the second row of a Mazda CX-9. The baby went in the middle and I literally had to turned her upside down to get her in most of the time so thank God for 5 point harnesses. This time I can't tell you how excited I am but I'm driving a minivan and this baby gets a captain's chair, lol. I plan on putting the baby right behind me as it has traditionally been the spot for the neediest child so I can buckle and unbuckle them.

I have to give some love to DH. This summer he's been working his full time job in addition to taking a full summer course load, and somehow managing to wrangle our 2yo and assume all of my usual household tasks while I lay on the couch or hug the toilet. I really wish I could get my sex drive back because I've never been more attracted to DH. He was good during my last pregnancy, but gone for a majority of it due to the Navy. Seeing him completely in his element and being a rockstar hubby and dad is making me all kinds of lovey dovey.

Standing ovation for the way the girls in the March BMB handled this situation, though.
