Hi, I am a mom and a BA student at the
University of Amsterdam doing an anonymous, non-commercial linguistic study on
maternal language. May I share my academic link with your community? The guidelines
say no surveys with monetary gain but this is purely academic research questionnaire
with no monetary gain is that ok? Thanks 😊

We had that rainforest bouncer with my DD. Loved it. But passed it on to a friend.
We we also had that same jumper and got rid of it. That I won't be replacing for a few months since we won't need it right away.
Right now we have a RNP and a hand me down boppy vibrating chair. I'm contemplating a mamaroo to replace the huge swing (FP snuggle puppy looking hand me down) and/or a mamaroo bouncer to replace the boppy chair. It's hideously pink and we're having a son (just looking for something a bit more neutral).

Ill also say when we had DD I wanted everything brand new so I completely understand not wanted to buy used.

for bouncers, DD really loved the Baby Bjorn Balance bouncer. It's on the pricier side, but it is useful for years. It has a few recline settings and can be used as a toddler chair later on. Also very easy to wash!
We also have loved the 4moms Rockaroo. It's a little less expensive than the Mamaroo and doesn't have as many motion options. However I read a lot of reviews on both before DD was born, and it seemed that the Rockaroo got more favorable reviews.
We also have the Graco Little Lounger, which is like a bassinet and rocker. It's very similar to the Rock n Play but has the ability to recline completely flat, which I think makes the transition to crib easier.
i'm frustrated because i put the mamaroo on my registry, and my family friend made a big deal out of doing all this "research" and getting us the 4moms bouncer/vibrate one instead. I appreciate that she did all this research, but she spent new ($120) something that now requires batteries and/or manual bouncing. the whole point of the mamaroo is so i can set it up while doing dishes, laundry, cooking, etc. I dislike when people go off registry for something like that... especially since I specifically did my own research and picked it out! I would have rather taken the $100 and put it towards the one i want.
We got this one:
We also have a swing, in case LO likes a more dramatic motion. I like the fact this one folds flat into a bassinet without removing the baby - I'm hoping that will ease the transition to the crib. We were in the process of shopping for a bouncer or rock n play, and we won this one for free at a baby event, so hoping it works out.
Lots of awesome advice here mamas. Thank you
@CaitlinJ22 I would be annoyed that someone did their own "research" and basically said that what they thought you picked was not needed. I would exchange it personally.

Here's Winston testing out his sister's RNP
We were gifted with the rainforest jumper. Apparently it's the best thing yet! Very popular by moms who swear their kids loved that thing! Can't wait to put baby A in it
**edited to cut out a paragraph about moving back to the midwest** (threads are all jumbled in my mind)
@kristynmac I browse some local sale Facebook pages here and haven't come up with much luck that way. I find that the city wide garage sales are the way to go. I work PM shifts so I always get to go early in the morning in the first day (Friday) that these sales are open. I've also got a playmat and tons of brand new like clothes. This kid is set!

Also, DH got really annoying last night and he went to sleep on the couch, away from baby cries in the nursery. I got kind of vicious and thought, "who is he to get away from night duty?" And so I walked over to the couch, picked up his phone, and set up 4 different alarms: 2 am, 3 am, 4 am, and 6 am.
When he asks if I did that, this is going to be me:

I had my membranes swept at my appointment yesterday morning. I've been contracting since 11 am. Didn't hurt and start getting uncomfortable until 5pm. Called my doctor to make them aware. Been laboring at home until I can't take it anymore. Was able to sleep but can't anymore. Trying to figure out when to just head in.
