We are telling my family this weekend while we are on vacation with my parents and siblings, so we took a picture - in the comments - of DD to send to my husband's siblings (we called his dad already)
Any one else have anything they've done so far? I don't know what we will do for our 'public' announcement yet, waiting awhile until we tell everyone.
We're telling family this weekend on vacation too! I bought a "I'm going to be a big brother" shirt from etsy and intend to put it on DS and just show up at Saturday night dinner with him wearing it and see who notices first.
We already told my FIL. He kept telling us in May at my BIL's wedding that he was "putting in an order" for grandchild #2 next year, so we sent him two pacifiers with a modified "thank you for your order" form that said "order shipped, estimated arrival March 2017." He didn't get it! XD
Nothing cute planned for my father and stepmother or my MIL, because they're our "difficult" parents and I don't care to waste energy on either of them. We'll probably just FaceTime with them.
We are telling some more family/friends next weekend at a cookout at our house. We'll be near 9 weeks at that point and will have had an ultrasound at that point to show off.
We will do our FB announcement the week leading up to Labor Day.
My wedding anniversary is in September so we are going to do a photo shoot and by then we will know the gender so our announcement will be on our anniversary
@mcdonald-bailey I was thinking our wedding anniversary would be a great day to announce, but it's August 15th and that's just too early for me personally. I like the idea of knowing the sex before announcing!
Thanks @Scarlett830 She wanted to wear the sunglasses, and she also has my heels on but I didn't manage to get that in the picture. The kid likes to accessorize
I think we will use this (with our real faces showing, of course) for our public announcement. Still playing with the wording and considering a re-shoot because the baby's book is so small that you can't read the spine/it isn't very noticeable, and I didn't think to bring baby shoes so I borrowed some bigger ones that were abandoned on the sand. *Went to TinyPic version because the original upload was enormous*
We did cute little things to tell our immediate family already, like write it in my MIL's birthday card and give a jar of Prego to my parents.

OMG I had to lie to my moms face tonight. DH and I were planning on telling my parents this weekend. Well my mom stopped by tonight and right before she left, she just asked me point blank, "so when are you having a baby?" I had to divert her and it was so difficult! I'm an only child and I'm really close with my mom so these past 3 weeks have been really hard not telling her.
So we bought a pair of baby cowboy boots and we are going to stop by my parents this weekend and just hang out. We'll eventually tell them we found something at the store we thought they would like for the barn and give them the boots and write something in the box like "You're going to be grandparents!"
We aren't going to tell DH's family for another week or two, but we are going to do something similar but with baby Nikes (DH is a huge runner). DH wants to make a flyer for a "Family 5k Run/Walk/Crawl" with a pic of all of our Nikes for our public announcement but I think we are going to wait for just before Labor Day to put that out.
Im starting to get nervous about telling people, I don't like all the attention on me!

The only one I really did anything cutesy for was my dad because I knew he would love it. I actually had ordered him a Father's Day gift but it hadn't come yet, so I told him it was here and I needed to bring it over. But instead I bought a camo binkie (he is very into camo) put it in a gift bag and had him open it. He was confused for a second then started crying. It was very cute.
I dont have have anything to share this time around... I'm thinking about waiting to announce everything till we know the gender. But this was what my husband made for announcing DD! Incase anyone needs some more ideas
We plan to announce to family when we are ready for everyone to know (around 12 weeks), because some of the family can't hold water. And we wouldn't feel right telling some family members early and not others. I have my first US appointment on 8/16 and a follow up with OB on 8/23. If those appointments go well, we will announce to family the following week. I plan to frame the picture below (adding in a US picture of the little one), and give one to DH's parents and my parents. My MIL's birthday is the last week of August, so I plan to wrap it as a "birthday gift". It will be my in-laws first grandchild, so I think they will like it. Not sure how I am going to casually "gift" something to my parents when there's no occasion. We'll figure it out.
@mcdonald-bailey I'm going to do the same! Our anniversary is in September and we are getting pictures down in the Outer Banks the day before with our wedding photographers so we will be announcing with a slideshow video on fb. I can't wait!

Love all the ideas! My friend is actually making my daughter a shirt very similar to that @CanadianintheSouth ! I'm not really sure if we will do any big announcement though, only because the timing is weird and our family's are very spread out. Also once we tell my daughter she's probably going to tell everyone anyway. For some reason I'm not that excited about telling everyone. Like maybe they'll find out when I have the baby? haha
We'll be telling our families next weekend (6w+6 and 7w). Far earlier than I was ever planning on telling them, but my parents are moving across the country and this is probably the last time I'll see them before at least well into 2nd tri.
Also, we're getting together for my mom's bday and then my MIL's bday on the same weekend. I'm planning on simply signing it into their birthday cards, but we'll see if DH has other ideas.
We announced to my in-laws last Saturday by giving my BIL a "belated birthday present" which was a wrapped onesie that said "My cute uncle is single, ask mom for details". Everyone was completely shocked and it was so cute!
@kjd291 I love that announcement you posted!! I may have to steal that idea for our public announcement!
We told a couple different ways, I told my mom by a video chat, a friend went by and saw her in the nursing home and I put this on the screen, I told her super early because it was my grandpas birthday that day, he passed away only a month before I wanted to give her some good news that day.
I sent my brothers a text that said " what giggles and coos , comes in pink or blue and in March 2017 will need uncles like you".... they didn't get it!! lol I had to call them! lol With our family, I sent out these announcement cards
And finally, with our public announcement on facebook it was Harry Potter
We're telling our parents this weekend and still have no idea how to do it...we'll see my parents on Saturday when my brother graduates with his Masters degree and the ILs on Sunday at DH's dad's company picnic...not the ideal place to tell them since his mom has a big mouth, but we don't see them often (thank goodness) so it'll have to do.
However, we do have our gender reveal picked out, and my lips are sealed since I've never seen this idea done before! Kudos to DH for coming up with it!

My siblings and friends guessed when we went away for the weekend and I didn't drink or go down waterslides...we are flying to england on Aug 19th. DS is wearing a shirt that says "I have all the koalifications to be promoted to big brother" when we meet my in laws at the airport.
With co-workers I brought in donuts to leave in the break area with a ultrasound photo taped in the box that said "eat up! my mom doesn't want to be the only one gaining weight this winter"
My parents left on a trip to Europe a couple days before I found out I was pregnant. I want them to know before I tell anyone else so I have to wait till August 8th. Just ordered DS a big brother t-shirt. We'll be surprising them at the airport. Can't wait!

We waited until we knew the sex last time and used our dog! :-)
