Got the rug and lamp in the last couple weeks. All that's left is wall hangings. I have the letters of his name painted a burnt orange, but can't hang it yet since we aren't sharing his name. I also got a wall sticker with the harry potter "I solemnly swear "saying on it that I plan on putting on a frame. My phone doesn't let me upload pics often, so I may never get around to posting after that stuff is up!
FTM here, and we have been so blessed by gifts for baby, particularly things baby could sleep or be soothed in. Crib, bassinet, rock and play, pack and play, swing, boppy lounger... and now I feel like I need to make a list of "if baby won't sleep in X, try Y, if not, try Z." Pretty sure we wouldn't have bought half this stuff if it wasn't gifted to us! Anyone else feel like that?
Almost done, husband has to put up the prints we got for the walls/ he painted and fix the tie backs for the curtains (the darn plastic wall anchors they give you did not cooperate, so we have to take them out, refill holes/spot paint and reinstall). Will share more pics when done!
@tinkerbell11210 I'm jealous of your closet storage system! I need to get some shelving like that in the boys room, right now we just have wasted space on the floor of the closet.
@Bookhousegirl. This system is really easy to put up (DH and my dad put up three in one weekend and two were huge walk in closets). You design it online with the measurements and then order the system through menards. DD 1 has a huge walkin closet. so we put drawers in a section on each of the three sides of her closet. She doesn't even need a dresser in her room.
Finally finished our nursery! We have a one bedroom (~750sf), with an "L" shaped bedroom so it is more of a baby nook than a baby room. I am happy with how it all came out. My Mom made the quilt over the crib and it really ads to the space.here is the before and after. Used to be my study area.
So can we all post "after" pictures about... oh two months from now... of the wreckage coping with a newborn has made of our pintrest worthy nurseries?

Argh, stuck in a box!
Oh yes, lets! I told DH we had to take a picture of it while it was neat and tidy because it never would be agsin. lol
The nursery/shared boys room isn't done, but I did finally do the pegboard and I love how it came out! I'll post more pics once the crib is finally painted (DH's project that has not gone as smoothly as originally planned)
I can finally add some pictures to this thread! We are still hoping to add a quote above the crib and I need to get a picture of the dresser and rug. But we did the paint, put up the chair rail, bought the chair and rug, assembled the crib, touched up the dresser paint, and bought and washed the bedding. Not too shabby!
Our fairy tale forest nursery is all done, just needs baby! We're not really crafty/artsy/stylish people so cutting out those decals by hand and getting them on the walls without killing each other was quite the challenge, but I'm really kinda proud of our final product. As much as we need a bigger house, I'm gonna be really sad to move and leave this room in a couple years. Baby won't even be old enough to appreciate or remember it, but nursery decor is 90% for the parents anyway, right?
@Car0liiine it looks great! The addition of the mirrors in the corner is a great idea! Is your sheepskin rug from ikea? I've been looking at the ikea one online and wondered how soft it would be.
@PeachGal23 It's fake. After looking at a lot of them online I decided to just get a fake one off of Amazon. So it's not super duper soft but I have soft blankets I can put down instead, like in the tummy time corner. Mostly for looks. We made the little dangle toy thing that goes over it because I didn't want a red and yellow plastic thing but natural wooden ones were super expensive.
Finally got the nursery together, more or less. A few more things to add and organize but so far I love how it's turning out. My very awesome MIL gets most of the credit - I picked the colors and theme, and she did all the artistic, crafty stuff.
The walls are navy because we initially started off team green... I went with a pineapple/flamingo/mermaid theme. The bedding, shelves, changing pad cover, curtains, and canvas are DIY. Crib is Graco "Lauren" from DD. Cube shelves are Kallax from ikea, cubes are Pillowfort from Target, and the round basket and lamp are target clearance! For not having any idea where I was going with this room, I love how it turned out. :-)
@Car0liiine love it! How do you like that glider? is it comfortable?
@kristynmac love it! did you do the rocking chair yourself? I'm debating between a glider and a classic rocking chair like that, just am worried about the comfort on the arms and bum
@jamiesc58@terezakatarina Thank you! I actually like the glider, we got it off craigslist. I was a little worried it might not be that comfy, that the cushions might be thin or something but it's great. I have been using the little ottoman for months in the den so I had to buy another ottoman for the couch in there so I could bring the glider one back to the nursery. I also like that it has pockets I can drop my phone or the kindle or whatever into.
@terezakatarina Honestly, no it is not that comfortable. It will be fine for sitting in and occasionally nursing, but its not ideal for long periods. It was my grandma's rocking chair though, so it is more for sentimental value that its in the room.
Thoughts on how to hang this? DD has a few in her room that I used mounting tape to hang, but this one is A LOT heavier and I'm really not sure how to hang it. It's too thin to nail or drill into, but I feel like mounting tape won't be strong enough. It's 32" high, 35" wide and about 1/2" inch thick, so pretty big. It's going over the crib so it needs to be uber secure. Ideas??? Anyone else hang one about the same size?
@terezakatarina We have a rocking chair as well. I added a comfy cushion to the seat, and (decorative) pillows I can use to prop my arm on the arm of the chair. I didn't like the gliders - I have a balance disorder and they made me feel woozy. The rocking chair is more of a controlled motion. I also liked that it encourages better posture than the glider - I felt like I was slouching in the glider no matter what I did.
@SkiChic626 what is the material? If you can nail or screw picture hangers to the back, you should be able to hang it with drywall screws or even better align the picture hangers with a few studs if you can find them!

It's solid wood but it's not super thick, idk if there's enough girth for something to be secured into it without looking through the front.

Just about finished!

Adding these, because I really like the chrome look--maybe a little more polished? https://www.amazon.com/Polished-Chrome-Plastic-Mirror-Mounting/dp/B000KZWS2S/ref=sr_1_15?ie=UTF8&qid=1469557414&sr=8-15&keywords=mirror+clips
