@searchingforameaning I think you have convinced me to give it a whirl! How are you attaching your mobile? From the crib? Or are you hanging from the ceiling?
I'm planning to make my own Mobile as well. I bought Elephant sun catchers for like 57 cents that have an eye at the top for hanging. I had my older kids paint 2 of them and I'll paint the third one. I will be hanging our mobile from the ceiling. I have a metal ring and some tulle in a couple shades of blue that I will wrap around it, and use to hang it, I want to get a few more sun catchers in other shapes, but I just need to find some more that I like.
@ShanRum3@rikopy@searchingforameaning I used the following tutorial for my hot air balloon mobile. It was pretty easy and much quicker than I expected. It also has a tutorial for the wooden mobile frame, which I used a hand drill for. Here's the link and how mine came out. It's a bit bigger than I expected, but I'm still happy with it.

Not really nursery yet, but related....DD's big girl furniture and mattress are being delivered today. I'm so ready for her to get out of her toddler bed that's way too small for her, but now that I know I'm going to go home to see her big girl room set up, I'm a little sad......stay little forever!!!!
I just looked through everyone's nursery posts and soooo cute! I'm also very jealous you all have a nursery to decorate, we don't have room for one. If we did I totally would of went all out with a theme of some sorts too!
@SkiChic626 I'm with you, my 2 year old's big boy furniture comes on Saturday, and I'm prepared to shed some tears! Once he gets that my nursery progress will be on a kickstart tho at least because the new baby is getting his furniture.
@tmk0325, I understand how you feel! This is the first time I've been able to actually decorate a Nursery, since we rented before, and we own now, not to mention each kid has his OWN room now! I'm loving being able to decorate this time!
@searchingforameaning I love how you used contrasting thread for the clouds and stars. So cute!

I finally have an update! The floors wont be installed for a few years (not in the budget). The trim and floor boards will be installed in just a few days and the lighting fixture next week. I still have plenty of work left to do. Anything fabric is something that I made and the painting is all me as well.
Love seeing all these photos of your nurseries, mamas! The anxiety is getting so real. I hope to post some pics before I go into labor. Adulting is hard...so hard that mom's coming to town this weekend to help put everything away (shower gifts), buy any additional leftover necessary items from registry, and work on our nursery. DH and I are grateful. We just can't seem to focus on doing these things when it's just us two.
Got the decorating done just in time to show off at next week's shower! Even did baby laundry and started organizing his closet...finally feeling productive
carolinw Are those baskets meant to hang on the wall or did you have to rig them somehow? I like the idea, especially since we downsized our changing table for this LO, there's not as much room on the top for all the essentials. This look would go really well with the mirror that we hung!
I'm so jealous of all of these completed nurseries!! I'm 34 weeks tomorrow and our furniture just arrived, and not even the glider yet! It's still a mess in there but hoping to make some serious progress this weekend!
@SkiChic626 Nope - they are regular wire baskets that I got from a discount decor website (DecorSteals.com). We used wall anchors and screws to secure the baskets to the wall and it worked like a charm!
OK, speaking of wall anchors, as @carolinw mentioned....how on earth do you get these things into the wall? I've been a homeowner for almost 10 years and to this day I have not successfully been able to use a wall anchor without it bending and breaking before actually going into the sheetrock. I give up and hope that whatever I'm hanging isn't too heavy every single time. What's the secret???

I'm an anchor fanatic!! I usually drill a pilot hole (the size of the drill bit will depend on your anchor size) before hammering in the anchor until it's flush with the wall.

This is what I do EVERY time, but the anchor still bends or breaks and becomes completely unusable! I'm definitely doing something wrong, but I can't figure out what. I've watched a million youtube how to videos, and I follow the same exact things they do but still *womp womp*
All of your nursery's have inspired me. We have already done an accent wall, but no MAJOR decorating. I wanted to keep things pretty simplistic. But I did custom order a pillow that will tie in our theme of the nursery and match the cushions of the rocking chair and bring in the accent wall color. I also plan on doing the DIY wall art for the nursery. I found this link. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XHzyKwDOpg4 Except i will be using a yellow paint... and some space images... the moon, a rocket and saturn( its a gender neutral nursery with a space/ stars theme. I cannot wait to add these pops of color and then upload some images... its hard bec we live in a loft so this nursery has very little natural light and looks way dark in photos.

I know this may seem like a dumb comment, but make sure you aren't trying to install an anchor in a stud! That would definitely bend them every time, and good thing is, the stud should be strong enough to hold without an anchor. Good luck!
@carolinw I had never heard of Decor Steals, but I just looked at their website and signed up for the emails. We've got a whole house to decorate - can't wait to score some cute stuff!
@SkiChic626 I've never been on Zulily, but they basically have one deal a day. They'll send out an email with the deal (usually at 10 AM) and you have a short amount of time to purchase before they are all sold out. I'm a big fan of the show Fixer Upper on HGTV and have found a bunch of the items featured on the show for a super discounted price! Only downfall is that shipping takes forever....
So I tried the video I posted earlier. I will say that instead of doing it exactly like the OP said... I am going to go buy some white acrylic paint and paint/ fill in the shape... I think it will look cleaner that way. I can kind of see dust from the pencil if I look closely and it bothers me. Thankfully I know white acrylic paint can cover up just about anything and its only 1 dollar at Michael's for 2 oz. She said it cost her like 10 $ for the project... but I spent 14 for the canvas/ paint brushes.... and 5 dollars for the paint... so around 20$... but on etsy it would have cost me like 90 or more? We're doing a pace themed nursery that is gender neutral... which is hard to find in the stores... bec apparently only little boys can be into science.. ugh!
Our baby without a name yet finally has an almost completed nursery (we still want a soft rug for under the crib and dresser). Thanks to all of you for the inspiration and motivation to get this FTM moving! I was paralyzed for a bit with fear and a general sense of "I have no idea what I'm doing," so thank you for sharing your ideas and processes!
