Hi ladies! I was really hoping I wasn't going to be the first person to post here but low and behold I am, even though I know there has been a few others ahead of me.
Edited. I had a long post about the day and it somehow didn't post. Basically my water broke at 4 am yesterday June 23 (due date Aug 25) and they tried to slow contractions, but by 10 pm I was dilated to 4 and baby b was transverse, so c section it was. It was super easy and my docs were great and it was really quick!
Baby A was 3lb11oz and 17 inches and baby b was 3lbs2oz and 16 inches. Pretty big for 31 weeks and twins.
We ended up being Team Green turned Team Blue twice!! Update on names! Baby A is Clay Edward and Baby B is Cohen Dennis!
Edited again with pic. 2 weeks old and doing great, just need to learn how to eat on their own. Weighing in over 4lbs each!
I suppose I'm way overdue in adding mine here! Here's my announcement from May 18 and here's a newborn pic, next to his one-month pic. He's doing well, all things considered. Such a fighter.
Hello everyone I guss I'm next on the list... My daughter was born June 30 at 339pm she is 3 pounds 7 Oz at 15 long. I went to the doctor in the morning as they listen to the heat beat I got to go to the er baby heart beat is low. I get to hospital with my hubby and get hooked up as I sit there they come back and ask if I feeling any of my contractions (umm no?) They check me baby head is down and I'm 3 cm already. They did ask what I wanted to do I said c section due to all pregnancy problems I had. I was all set up for the or before I knew it. The overall process in the or was AMAZING I didn't feel the spin block nor anything. I did feel the pressure of her comming out. I was so worried since I am per term 31week 4days. As I laid on the or it was a sigh of relief when I heard her crying in started myself
Hey guys as of 7/8 she is off the oxygen and as of Monday might be able to take off the iv. She taking donor brest milk just increased its to 15ml today. She also very alert she knows when feedings are and wake up. I do have one strong girl!!!
Wow, yesterday was such a whirlwind. After my last update of getting just about ready to push, our little Avery was born at 2:23 PM! I think I napped from 5-9 PM and wanted absolutely zero visitors except DH & mom (they don't count as visitors per se). After laboring all through the night and into the PM the next day, the last thing I wanted to do was have visitors right after.
Since she barely made it to 37 weeks, they wanted to keep her in the NICU to run some tests. Turns out that little Avery was trying to figure out how to use her lungs still & was breathing pretty fast.
As such, right after skin to skin with her, she got to NICU and had this clear oxygen tank over her face. She got an xray done and they switched the oxygen tank to cpap for oxygen and pressure purposes.
Otherwise, she's doing great! They'll keep her in the NICU for a few more days (shoutout to @bananers -- you've no idea how much strength you've given me just by sharing your experience when I saw Avery in the NICU. It really was hard not to get all emotional when you see these tiny angels just going through so much). I find relief from RNs telling me that these guys won't remember a thing from NICU days.
We miss her the moment we leave NICU. Ugh! Going to do some skin to skin today so we are very excited! Also tried pumping some colostrum for the first time.
Completely smittened by her pure existence. Interestingly, she has blond brows for right now at least. We are fascinated at just about everything of Avery.
THANK YOU GUYS for all the support & being a part of our journey in some shape or form. Can't wait to see all of your baby announcements next! Xoxo.
She's beautiful! My first was born at around the same gestational age... We were in nicu for 4 days. I applaud the mamas that have to go weeks and months! It's hard for any amount, but they are so worth it! Congrats!
Eleanor Rose was born July 14 at 7:07 a.m. weighing 6 lbs 4 oz and measuring 18 1/2 inches after a whirlwind of a week. On Saturday, July 9, I woke up at 10:30 p.m. with extreme bleeding. We rushed to the ER - I was continuing severe bleeding and passing blood clots. The pregnancy had been nearly perfect to this point. I was 36 weeks 1 day along. They hooked me up to all the machines to check on baby and my vitals - all seemed perfect except for the bleeding. After running numerous tests and confining me to a labor bed for 20+ hours, they could not determine the cause of the bleeding but it was diminishing. They let me go home under modified bedrest. I had also been having some irregular contractions at the hospital. I was 1 cm dilated at that point but the doctors did not want to keep checking my cervix as to aggravate any bleeding. I had a regular appointment Wednesday afternoon and they suggested continued bedrest.
By Wednesday evening my contractions had slowed and was bleeding basically very little. But, my water broke at 12:30 p.m.! I was 36 weeks 6 days. Again, back to the hospital. My contractions started slow but came on hard and fast. Arrived at 2 cm dilated, by 3 a.m. found myself with much pain and pressure (even after the epidural) and was already 6 cm dilated. Within an hour and a half, I was up to 9.5 cm dilated and ready to push. Less than 2 hours of pushing and our sweet daughter made her arrival! Although she is premature, she rated high on apgar scores and is sleepy and sweet. She has a few issues initially with sucking and latching, as well as maintaining blood sugar, but all are improving with time.
Baby born today at 35 weeks she is iugr so wasn't growing properly so I had an early induction.. weighing in at 4 pounds 1 ounce. Will be in nicu for now!
Isabelle Ann entered the world at 2:03 pm on Thurs July 14th via emergency csection. After 18 hours of labor(induced due to pre e) her heart rate and my blood pressure bottomed out repeatedly and after the third or fourth time it was decided we had no time to wait. We were rushed to the OR and she made her grand entrance. 7 pds 6ozs 19 in , born at exactly 37 weeks. She is perfect. She spent 24 hours in continuous care unit due to low glucose but has been moved back to us yesterday. Thanks bump buddy @ehthecrazycatlady for posting our labor progress !
Born at 10:07 pm on the 19th via c-section after going into labor at 37 weeks 1 day. Working on getting Stefan to eat. He seems to prefer sleeping at this point. 19in and 7 lbs
Very late in posting this, but our little pumpkin was born at 35 weeks and 6 days after my water broke at work. We have been in the NICU all week and hope to be discharged this weekend!
Well friends, looks like we're next on this list, despite my intuition that I would go past my due date (zero BH contractions or any pre-labor signs prior to going straight into real contractions that were 3 minutes apart!).
Everett Hunter (Hunter is my maiden name) was born at 38 weeks + 3 days on July 21 at 9:23pm after a pretty intense 21-hour labor. 6lbs 8oz, 19.5 inches long.
Felt my first contraction at 12:30am. Labored at home with contractions 3 minutes apart and then was admitted to the hospital around 5am at 4.5cm dilated. Labored med-free with fast contractions (2-3 minutes apart) until 10cm dilated at 3:30pm. DH was such an amazing help. I can't believe that they didn't used to let partners in the delivery room with women--I never could have done it without him. Pushed on and off until 7pm, but stalled out due to fatigue and the contractions slowed to about every 6 minutes. The doctors said they would have to c-section, so I got a tiny bit of pitocin around 8pm and baby finally came naturally at 9:23pm. Hardest and most rewarding thing I've ever experienced...
We welcomed our twins into the world on 7/21 at 6:44 and 6:45am! I was scheduled for a c-section on 7/29, but Baby A's water broke the night before at 11pm. I felt a pop while I was laying in bed but didn't feel any water, so I just continued to lay there and figured it was just my pelvis or something. About 45 mins later I got up to go to the bathroom and it was like the flood gates opened.
We headed to the hospital and I wasn't dilated at all, so they scheduled the c-section for 6am. Had a few issues getting the spinal to go in, but that was the only complication (and I think I was more nervous about this part than the actual procedure).
Baby A was 5lb 10oz and 18-1/2", and Baby B was 6lb 4oz and 20-1/4". We are all doing great! Baby A (girl) on the left, Baby B (boy) on the right.
My little one made his entrance into the world on July 19th at 3:29p. I was induced at 37 weeks due to cholestasis. I went in to the hospital Sunday evening to begin the process. Got cervidil overnight and then the cook balloon the next morning. That came out around 11pm Monday and my water broke around 3:30 am Tuesday. I was 4cm at 7am but after 36 hours I was exhausted and in a lot of pain so I opted for the epidural around 8am. They were then able to up the pitocin pretty high and by 2pm I was 9cm! I labored down for a bit longer and began pushing around 3pm. Less than 30 min later our little boy was here!! 6lbs 9oz of perfection! I was so nervous about the induction and although I hoped to go med free, I have no regrets and feel very empowered! (The picture won't load!)
My little girl was born July 23 at 516 am! My water broke on the 22nd at 115, got to LD at 330 and was only dialeted .5 and wasn't feeling my contractions. They admitted and ripened my cervix with Cytotec around 8. I walked around halls for an hour and around 930 I was having strong contractions and got an epi, they checked and I was 9 cm dialeted! Rested/slept until about 4 am and then pushed for about an hour and 15. Baby girl Brooklyn happy and healthy - 5lb 11oz, 19 inches.
Levi Thor was born at 2:11 on 7/23/16. 6lb 8oz. Woke up at 530, leaking amniotic fluid. Got admitted to the hospital around 7am, and pitocin was started around 9 since contractions weren't doing much. They were few and far between and not intense at all. Started pushing a little after 12, and he was born a little after 2. He was my most stubborn baby yet! he sure took his time
Jackson James born at 36w3d via c-section on July 23rd @ 9:22 pm 5 lb 15 oz 19 inches long
Friday night, I wasn't feeling too hot. Took a nice long, hot shower and decided to call it an evening. I slept on and off from about 7-11 pm then was up for the rest of the evening.
Saturday my Blood pressure was higher than normal and had a headache. I was told that if I have a headache with pre-eclampsia to take Tylenol. If it didn't cure it in 2 hours to go in. Well I'm stubborn and prone to headaches. So I tried to fix it on my own. Around 3:30 pm that afternoon, I wasn't any better. I looked at DH after I had to blood pressure readings of 160/115 and said "Let's go get this checked out. Somethings not right". Turns out I was in labor! I hadn't felt a contraction, yet I had progressed to 3 cm dilated from my nearly 1/2 cm on the previous Thursday.
Between him being breech, being in labor and my pre-eclampsia. It was enough that the on call
OB thought it was time for him to make his debut.
So while we waited the necessary time (I had eaten at 1pm So anesthesia wanted to wait till 9pm) I began feeling the contractions. HOLY MOLY. The women that do this all natural without pain meds- you are AMAZING and full of unGodly amount of strength.
So all in all, Jackson James and I are recovering well. We will be discharged after staying 3 nights! Good Luck to the rest of our August Birth Month!
Heath Charles joined this world July 19th at 0644am. I went to the doctors four days previously and was losing amniotic fluid and already 3cm/90 effaced. Went back in on Monday and was told I barely had any fluid and was 4cm/90 effaced. My OB did a membrane sweep and met me over at the hospital. The membrane sweep initiated my own contractions, then I was given a very small amount of Pitocin to strengthen labor. They were able to stop the Pitocin since it triggered my own regular contractions. However, I hit a major wall at 9cm. I just couldn't dilate anymore. My OB decided to pull my epidural away and restart pitocin ahhhh. I began pushing at 9cm since his head was stuck. I pushed in various positions, including doggy style lol. After 2.5 hours of pushing, I delivered him. It was extremely painful, as his head and shoulder were stuck at different times. Heath was born at 37 weeks 5 days. He was 20 inches and 7lbs 11oz and perfect in every way. I am so happy to have this handsome little man and all of the pain was so worth it.
Peter James was born today, July 25th at 12:26 pm! He is 7lb 14oz and 20 inches long. I had an induction, started pitocin at 8:00 am and had him at 12:26 pm. It was very laid back for the most part for any mommas worrie about having an induction. We are absolutely in love! DD isn't so sure yet lol but it'll take some time and I think she will rock being a big sister! I'll post more on L&D a little later it's been a LONG day!
Andrew James was born Friday, July 22nd at 11:53am! He is 6lb 10oz and 19.5" long. Andrew was born at 37w 2d. I expected to deliver before my due date but not this early! On Friday, I woke up at 3:30am having contractions but continued to just lay in bed because I wasn't sure. At 5:30am I went to the bathroom and there was a bit of blood which I am assuming may have been my mucus plug. At that point I woke up DH and told him that I thought it might be baby day! We tracked contractions for a while and were admitted to the hospital a little before 8am and I was 4.5cm dilated. Got my epidural around 10:30am. Shortly there after they checked me and I was still only 5cm. Dr said the epi likely slowed down the contractions so she ordered the lowest dose of pitocin to make sure the contractions didn't stop completely. Not sure if it was the pitocin or my body was just ready but within 30min, DS was here! I didn't feel anything and did not push at all! My Dr missed the birth by seconds and my son was actually delivered by my nurse! We are both doing great and so in love with our little man!
Baby Emma arrived on 24 July at 7:45pm. She was 8lbs 8oz, 21.5 inches, and was born at 39 weeks.
Birth story: I woke up to light contractions in the morning. The contractions were uncomfortable, but not painful and were 7 minutes apart. I was a planned RCS, so I knew once I went in it would be c section time. I wasn't sure if I was in the beginning of labor since I had been having BH very frequently, so I decided to wait until the contractions got closer or stronger. Neither happened for 5 hours and then they stopped. I decided to take a nap and was woken up 1.5 hours later to painful contractions. It was obvious these were the real deal. The contractions started out 10 minutes apart, and within 30 minutes were 5 minutes apart. DH and I got everything together and took some time to say goodbye to our 2 year old son. Once at the hospital I was hooked up to monitors and it took a while until they checked me. When the nurse did, I was 6cm with my water bag bulging. From then, it was just a matter of getting me prepped and my Dr in for the c section. I will say, I was not mentally prepared to labor as long as I did before the spinal. It took about 2.5 hours from arriving at the hospital to getting the spinal. Some of those contractions really rocked me!
The c section went great, and baby girl was out 4 minutes after starting! So far my recovery has been much easier than last time.
Isaac Tyler was born on July 22nd at 2:32 pm at 37w6d! 7 lbs 11 oz and 21.5 inches long. The first couple of days have been rough on our little guy; he's receiving in-home photo-therapy for jaundice but breastfeeding is going really well and the therapy should (hopefully) be done in the next day or two.
Birth Story: I had slightly elevated blood pressure for the last several days, and I've also been having contractions for weeks! Due to the bp, I went to have my urine analyzed Friday morning at 8:30 and mentioned that I had been having contractions for about an hour or two, so my midwife checked me and I was 6 cm! I took my sweet time getting to the hospital and arrived at 10:30. Hubby and I walked the halls together and my midwife broke my water at 11:30 a.m. (I was 7 cm by then). Things progressed quickly from there and I was able to do a completely unmedicated labor and delivery, which was ideal because his shoulder ended up getting stuck during pushing, so I literally had to stand up and walk from the birthing chair to the bed in a couple of different positions in order to get him loose while he was literally halfway out! It would've been a lot more difficult if I were on an IV or numb from the waist down. He ended up pretty bruised up which worsened the jaundice. He had shoulder displasia from getting stuck which they're keeping an eye on, and his one testicle wasn't distended at the 2 day follow-up appointment so they had us get an ultrasound done as well (both testes are there and were distended at the ultrasound!).His shoulder seems to be doing well and the lights should fix the jaundice pretty quickly!
Baby Hannah was born at 11:38 AM on 7/26/16, at 7 lbs 9 oz and 20" long. Water broke at 6:45 with no contractions for hours so I had to be induced - first Foley balloon at around 1 AM and then pitocin at about 4 AM. I measured 4 cm at 6 AM and then dilated very quickly to 10 cm by 10 AM. I got an epidural around 8 due to sheer exhaustion but looking back I wouldn't have gotten it if I knew how dilated I was. Started pushing at around 10:30 and she was out about an hour later! Mom and baby are healthy and happy. We're so in love!
Sophia Alice was born on Friday July 22nd at 3:06 pm. She weighed 5 lbs and measured 18 inches long. I was actually scheduled for an induction for Monday July 25th because of my complications. I was 4 cm dilated and 80% effaced.
At 10 am my water broke while binge watching Netflix in bed and I was 37 weeks even. I was having zero contractions at the time, so they asked for me to come into the office. By the time I got to the office my contractions were about 5 mins apart, so I was walked down to labor and delivery. I asked for an epidural immediately, and finally got settled. The OB was having trouble tracking my contractions with the external monitor, and she prepped me for an internal monitor. When checking me before we realized it was about time to push. 5 hours from my water breaking my baby girl entered the world. P.S. Sophia was born on pi approximation day (22/7) which was quite fitting for the daughter of a math teacher.
Katherine arrived at 2:03 a.m on July 28 at 7 lbs, 8 oz. and 20" long (she was due Aug. 3). She is perfect and I'm recovering from an induction that lasted 57 hours.
Jasper Bennett, formally Loreli Ruby Bennett (the name is from my younger sister's best friend who passed away earlier this year), was born at 2:37 pm on Friday July 29th, weighing 7 lbs 7 oz and 20.5 inches long!
I woke up at 6:30 am to three small gushes of fluid in a row. No immediate contractions, but I went to the bathroom to find my mucus plug was gone. Contractions picked up quickly, and I was in terrible pain. My hands, arms, legs and feet kept going numb during contractions. When our midwife finally arrived, she didn't think I was in true labor, as I had been contracting strongly since Sunday night at 11. My midwife had come to suspect as well that I was one of those women who labor best alone (or with just their partner). So she left, telling me to try to rest. I wasn't able to, because sure enough, only about 30 minutes after she left, my water full on broke, and gushed fluid with every breath. I was in so much pain, i barely registered it, and didn't think to tell DH. Not even 20 minutes after that, my body started to contract in ways that were forcing me to bare down and push. DH called the midwife scared out of his mind, and she told him to call 911, because otherwise she was too far away to reach me and was afraid I'd have the baby with no one there (we were planning a home birth). DH dialed 911 as I basically screamed through more contractions. It's around 1:45, and after sitting on hold with 911 for 15 minutes, plus an additional 5 to be connected to the ambulance dispatcher, we got one sent from the hospital less than 2 minutes from our house. By the time the EMTS were wheeling me into the hospital, baby was crowning. After being there 30 minutes and pushing for 25, LO had arrived. The OB had asked the baby's sex and name, and when LO came out, she said "Hello baby Loreli!" Without missing a beat, DH said "That's a boy." And suddenly I was the momma to a little boy, and his name came out of my mouth immediately as they laid him on my chest. As a FTM mom at 39+5, I never expected the wild turn of events Friday took, from delivering early, to delivering in less than 8 hours from start to finish.
Baby J joined us on 7/29 at 2:08 am after a successful induction due to cholestasis and a successful VBAC! Induction started Wednesday evening with a catheter balloon for 12 hours then a starting pitocin Thursday morning at 10. Midwife broke my waters at 4:30pm and the contractions really picked up then. By 8, they were 2-3 minutes apart and I had to know how I was progressing. I had only made it to a six since starting pitocin at a four and asked for the epidural. It was amazing and I dozed and used a peanut ball to continue dilating until 1:15am when I started feeling pressure and the urge to push. J was born at 2:08am! We were team green and I'm now outnumbered by males for life. It was an amazing experience and I'm so glad I was able to birth this way. Home and amazed at the great recovery! Nursing is going great also. Good luck to all August mamas!
Matthew Robert was welcomed into our family this Saturday morning at 11:21am and 39w2d. He was 8lbs, 7oz, and 21" long.
I started having regular contractions on Thursday that were 20 minutes apart. Didn't sleep much Thursday night and decided to stay home from work on Friday, which was supposed to be my last day in the office. Contractions were at 5-7 minutes apart all day, and I kept feeling like I was going to poop my pants. I'm a FTM and wasn't sure if I was in labor, so DH was still at work when my water broke at 6. It was the weirdest thing! I couldn't believe the amount of water that came out and it actually made a popping noise. We headed to the hospital after that.
I was at 4cm when I got to the hospital. I wanted to go naturally as long as possible, and we tried lots of positions and laboring in the tub. The tub was awesome, but by 2am Saturday, I was in so much pain, I was starting to feel delirious. I started getting the urge to push down through the contractions even though it wasn't pushing time yet. I could tell DH was exhausted as well from applying counter pressure to my hips with each contraction and just the emotional toll of watching me in that much pain. I asked for the epidural, which they were able to place quickly. I was at 8cm.
The epidural was amazing and allowed me to sleep. Contractions continued to come regularly based on the monitor, but it did slow my progression a bit. I had been dilating .5cm an hour naturally, but it took from 2-8am to get from 8 to 10cm.
Things were going great with pushing, and I was happy because it seemed to be effective even with the epidural. However I knew something was wrong when I asked for something to eat and my OB declined. She had me move to my hands and knees to push, then use the overhead bar. Finally she told me that baby was stuck on my pubic bone and hadn't moved past that point after 2+ hours of pushing. She proposed a c section, and my heart broke. I had wanted to do the labor naturally, so I already felt bad about getting the epidural. I felt like I had fallen for the cascade of interventions, like maybe getting the epidural had made me inaffective at pushing. I was slightly comforted that we had exhausted all of the labor positions I knew of, and I could feel myself getting really swollen from the pushing. We decided to go for the c-section, I bawled the whole way to the OR.
Everyone at the OR was great, and hearing baby cry was the most amazing sound. He was born at 11:21am. I felt a lot better knowing that my pushing efforts weren't ruined by the epidural...I had pushed him so hard into my pelvis that it took three people to break the pressure and pull him out. He had a hand next to face as well which didn't help.
This ended up being really long, but I started early labor on Tuesday and was at the hospital for 25 hours before he was born the following Saturday!
Tuesday night into Wednesday I was up from about 3-5am with
a backache, cramps and constant need to use the bathroom (sorry, TMI). Wednesday I ran some errands but had
contractions throughout the day. I was
feeling off but also exhausted from not sleeping. Mid-day my contractions were less than 5 min
apart so I headed to the OB’s office.
They got more frequent while I was on the monitor (and begun to get
painful) so they sent me to the hospital for monitoring. They were 2-3 min apart and got more and more
painful as the night went on. My OB kept
me overnight for monitoring. I was able
to get some sleep and the pain had gone away by morning. I was only dilated 1cm by 7am so my doc sent
me home.
I spent Thursday just feeling “off” (tired, crampy,
nauseous) with constant non-painful contractions and even had a random burst of
adrenaline where I ran around the house doing random chores (until my husband
told me to stop and sit down).
I woke up Friday morning with such intense pelvic pressure
and pain. I dropped my son off at school
and headed to my weekly OB appt. As I
sat in the waiting room the contractions got super painful. The OB brought me back and checked me. I was 3cm.
She said I could either walk around for an hour or so or have her
recheck me or I can go to the hospital.
She let me get hooked up to the monitor while I made my decision then
afterwards said she only did that to keep me there until I went to the
hospital. In the less than 10 min I was
hooked up I had 2 crazy painful contractions and two of the office staff
members (one of the u/s techs who I adore and another lady that takes vitals,
etc) were in there with me basically saying “why are you not going to the
hospital???” I love their staff. So,
off to the hospital I went.
I was 37w on the nose so I kept double guessing myself
having them help my labor progress (I was technically still in “prodromal labor”
not active labor). I got to the hospital
around 11:30am. The OB on call was a
very aggressive doc who rubbed me the wrong way. She was all “I’d love to deliver you before
the next OB comes on at 5pm” and wanted me to get the epidural almost
immediately. I was in no rush so
thankfully the L&D nurse was awesome and on my side. Plus this doc for some reason couldn’t do a
proper cervical check. Like I was crying
in paid from them while three other OBs had checked me that week with no
issues. The way she was speaking to me I
really was second guessing myself and almost told them I was going home to wait
out real labor. OB started Pitocin around
2:30. She was pushing for me to get the epidural
and around 3:30pm I relented. But before
the anesthesiologist came in I changed my mind.
The contractions were painful but I almost didn’t want to give this OB
the benefit of my getting the epi on her watch.
New OB came in and was just awesome. She wanted me to progress as naturally as
possible at first. She suggested the
epidural around 6:45 so that my body could relax and let the baby drop (he was
still super high at -3). I was contracting
every 2 min at this point with no progression so I got the epidural.
At 7:30 the baby’s heartrate dropped super low and the OB
ran in with the nurse, yelled for more nurses and everyone was flipping me from
side to side, they gave me a shot to stop a super long contraction, put me on
oxygen and the OB started yelling to prep an OR and was talking to me about
consent for an emergency c-section if needed.
Thankfully his heartrate came back up but I was crying and so
scared. That’s when I really started
regretting my decision to have the baby so soon. It was such a mess. I actually stayed on the oxygen for a while
because my heartrate kept going up (and making the baby’s go up as well over
the next several hours).
At 10pm I was only 4cm and baby was -2, so some progress but
not a lot. They came back in around 11pm
to start the Pitocin again and within minutes we had another scare where baby’s
heartrate dipped super low as did my blood pressure. It didn’t last as long as the first time but
again it was scary. They finally just
said F the Pitocin and the OB decided to let me progress naturally overnight. I was 5cm at that point. And she really didn’t want me having an
emergency C-section.
Around 4am there was no change so the OB broke my
water. By 7am I was dialted to 6cm and
baby was at -1. They finally considered
me in active labor (apparently it’s 4cm with a first time mom, 6cm with a
repeat mom). Around 10am I got my
epidural dosage upped when I hit the magic button (they had turned it way down
during the scary episodes the night before).
Contractions were strong and I was light headed and nauseous (I kept the
oxygen mask on basically this whole time).
At 11am I was dilated to 9.5 and baby was at 2. At 11:45 it was pushing time! I pushed for just about 45 min. Once the head was out past my pelvic bone the
baby basically slid right out.
Ari was
born at 12:30pm on the dot. 6lb 9oz,
20in. Born at 37w 1d.
Colden decided to enter the world via C-section on Friday, July 29th at 10:37pm and 37w6d. Thursday, I went to the doctor for my weekly check up and scheduled an induction for August 8th. That evening, I got up and my water broke with no contractions so I called the hospital and was told to wait 2-3 hours and if no contractions, come in. I wasn't having contractions so we went in on Thursday night. I was checked and only dialated to 1.5cm and 50% effaced.
I was hooked up to monitors and the plan was to start pitocin at 4am on Friday. Pitocin was started and I couldn't feel any contractions until I got to 4cm about midday and decided to get the epidural. The doctor decided to let me continue laboring to see if Colden would come down from a -3 station. I got to 6cm and a -1 station then stalled for a couple of hours. Pitocin was upped and I got to 9cm but still at a -1. I pushed for a couple of hours to no avail. Colden's big head wasn't making it past the bone and with my exhaustion and back labor, they went to prep the OR for the c-section. I ended up losing 1.5 liters of blood and my uterus stopped contracting. In the end, the doctor apologized for making me labor that long with no change in station.
It was quite the experience but he's out and here and that's all that matters. Colden ended up weighing 7 pounds 1 ounce and 19 inches long and facing sunny side up. We were released from the hospital today and DH and I are absolutely in love.
Sloane made a surprise appearance this morning at 6 lbs 4oz at 37weeks. I was laying in bed when I felt like I had peed myself. When I went to the bathroom fluid stated gushing out. Headed straight to the hospital and by the time we got there I was already 5cm and 90% effaced. Got an epidural which slowed everything down for a couple hours. So they started pitocin and the contractions picked back up. Finally after pushing for 2.5hrs she finally came. My due date was 20 days away but I like that her bday is August 1st!
@allishally13 had a bouncing baby boy 9lbs 3oz last night via c-section after induction wasn't working. She will post more details, but wanted to let everyone know.
Oliver Kirk was born via c section at 8:42pm 8/1 after a failed 24 hour induction for gd treated with insulin (labor failed to progress past 3cm). He was 9 lb 6 oz and 21 inches long! Unfortunately, he had some fluid in his lungs and was breathing quickly so he was brought to the nicu for observation and tests. I also started showing some signs of potential preeclampsia. My bp stayed high after delivery, so I was given magnesium as a precaution for seizures and bp medication to lower my bp. Luckily the pre-e seems to have been a false alarm and my blood pressure was back to normal since late last night.
Oliver is still in the nicu and we have only been able to touch him (no rubbing or holding), and I began pumping colostrum this morning. I've been able to get a few drops onto some cotton swabs for him and he loves it. He also recognizes mommy and daddy's voices. He's one of the biggest babies in the nicu and they are fairly confident he won't need to stay for too many days (hopefully a maximum of 3-5 days). As this is our rainbow baby, we are missing him and can't wait to hold him for the first time hopefully tomorrow.
On Sunday July 31st little man decided to bless us with his presence. A little before 530 am I started feeling contractions lasting for a min or two every 3-5 mins. It started to get unbearable so we headed off to the hospital. Once we got there and checked we were only at 2 cm so the had us walk around for 2 hours. I barely lasted an hour due to the contractions coming on stronger. We got checked again and we were at 5 cm. Made great progress. Once we got admitted and into a room I then got the glorious epidural! Felt 10 times better and was almost complete. It was maybe two hours later and we started pushing. Probably 6 pushes later we met our newest little member. We are absolutely in love. The two big Brothers couldn't be any more proud of their little brother ❤
Grayson Eugene 6 lbs 13 oz 20.5 inches long July 31st @1:15 pm
Gabrielle Lynn was born this morning at 9:21AM via scheduled CSECTION. She is 7 lbs 13 oz, 21 inches long. Just Perfect! We had issues at the beginning of csection where the right side of my body was not numbing (it took over an hour and highest/most dosage of epidural allowed to get the right side to numb). Other than the epidural issue everything else was great. I am so in love with our newest baby girl
Jameson Chance arrived with lightening speed at 39+5 on August 1 at 4:44am. 7 lbs, 6 oz and 19.5 inches of cuteness.
I went to bed Sunday at 10pm with no labor signs and at midnight, I went to the bathroom and it was mucus plug, bloody show and water breaking all over the place. I got cleaned up and went back to bed thinking I could get a little more rest. Contractions started as soon as I laid down. DH woke up around 12:45 and I let him know what was up. We started timing contractions and realized they were 3-5 minutes apart, so we headed on in.
Got to the hospital around 2am. At triage they said I was not even 2cm but since my water broke they would admit me. No L&D rooms were available though. By 3:30am contractions were less than 2 minutes apart, very intense and DH was getting insistent that they needed to get me into a room and get me an epidural.
They got me in a room at 4am at which point I pretty much kept yelling "you need to check me now. No, NOW!" Sure enough, I was at 8 cm and I knew I was in transition even if they still didn't believe it. They had the anesthesiologist rush in, and she got the epidural in... But it was too late. By the time she was done, I was complete and I couldn't not push. Baby's heart rate dropped low; the on-call OB rushed in and said if I didn't get him out immediately we were going for an emergency C-section. Four very intense, scary pushes where I felt everything, and Jameson was out. He was stunned - as was everyone in the room that couldn't believe I went that fast as a FTM - but recovered quickly. He's doing great and aside from being sore with a second degree tear, so am I.
We are, of course, so in love. DH has fallen especially hard and it is amazing to see his transformation.
Re: August 2016 Birth Announcements
Edited. I had a long post about the day and it somehow didn't post. Basically my water broke at 4 am yesterday June 23 (due date Aug 25) and they tried to slow contractions, but by 10 pm I was dilated to 4 and baby b was transverse, so c section it was. It was super easy and my
docs were great and it was really quick!

I do have one strong girl!!!Wow, yesterday was such a whirlwind.
Xoxo.

Thanks bump buddy @ehthecrazycatlady for posting our labor progress !
Son #1- 2/15/08

Baby 3 due 8/8/16
Very late in posting this, but our little pumpkin was born at 35 weeks and 6 days after my water broke at work. We have been in the NICU all week and hope to be discharged this weekend!
ETA: Born on July 16 th.
Best of luck, August mamas! You got this!
ETA: baby name! And birth story.
Woke up at 530, leaking amniotic fluid. Got admitted to the hospital around 7am, and pitocin was started around 9 since contractions weren't doing much. They were few and far between and not intense at all. Started pushing a little after 12, and he was born a little after 2. He was my most stubborn baby yet! he sure took his time
5 lb 15 oz
19 inches long
Edited: to add birth story
Birth story:
I woke up to light contractions in the morning.
Birth Story:
I had slightly elevated blood pressure for the last several days, and I've also been having contractions for weeks!
Tuesday night into Wednesday I was up from about 3-5am with a backache, cramps and constant need to use the bathroom (sorry, TMI). Wednesday I ran some errands but had contractions throughout the day. I was feeling off but also exhausted from not sleeping. Mid-day my contractions were less than 5 min apart so I headed to the OB’s office. They got more frequent while I was on the monitor (and begun to get painful) so they sent me to the hospital for monitoring. They were 2-3 min apart and got more and more painful as the night went on. My OB kept me overnight for monitoring. I was able to get some sleep and the pain had gone away by morning. I was only dilated 1cm by 7am so my doc sent me home.
I spent Thursday just feeling “off” (tired, crampy, nauseous) with constant non-painful contractions and even had a random burst of adrenaline where I ran around the house doing random chores (until my husband told me to stop and sit down).
I woke up Friday morning with such intense pelvic pressure and pain. I dropped my son off at school and headed to my weekly OB appt. As I sat in the waiting room the contractions got super painful. The OB brought me back and checked me. I was 3cm. She said I could either walk around for an hour or so or have her recheck me or I can go to the hospital. She let me get hooked up to the monitor while I made my decision then afterwards said she only did that to keep me there until I went to the hospital. In the less than 10 min I was hooked up I had 2 crazy painful contractions and two of the office staff members (one of the u/s techs who I adore and another lady that takes vitals, etc) were in there with me basically saying “why are you not going to the hospital???” I love their staff. So, off to the hospital I went.
I was 37w on the nose so I kept double guessing myself having them help my labor progress (I was technically still in “prodromal labor” not active labor). I got to the hospital around 11:30am. The OB on call was a very aggressive doc who rubbed me the wrong way. She was all “I’d love to deliver you before the next OB comes on at 5pm” and wanted me to get the epidural almost immediately. I was in no rush so thankfully the L&D nurse was awesome and on my side. Plus this doc for some reason couldn’t do a proper cervical check. Like I was crying in paid from them while three other OBs had checked me that week with no issues. The way she was speaking to me I really was second guessing myself and almost told them I was going home to wait out real labor. OB started Pitocin around 2:30. She was pushing for me to get the epidural and around 3:30pm I relented. But before the anesthesiologist came in I changed my mind. The contractions were painful but I almost didn’t want to give this OB the benefit of my getting the epi on her watch.
New OB came in and was just awesome. She wanted me to progress as naturally as possible at first. She suggested the epidural around 6:45 so that my body could relax and let the baby drop (he was still super high at -3). I was contracting every 2 min at this point with no progression so I got the epidural.
At 7:30 the baby’s heartrate dropped super low and the OB ran in with the nurse, yelled for more nurses and everyone was flipping me from side to side, they gave me a shot to stop a super long contraction, put me on oxygen and the OB started yelling to prep an OR and was talking to me about consent for an emergency c-section if needed. Thankfully his heartrate came back up but I was crying and so scared. That’s when I really started regretting my decision to have the baby so soon. It was such a mess. I actually stayed on the oxygen for a while because my heartrate kept going up (and making the baby’s go up as well over the next several hours).
At 10pm I was only 4cm and baby was -2, so some progress but not a lot. They came back in around 11pm to start the Pitocin again and within minutes we had another scare where baby’s heartrate dipped super low as did my blood pressure. It didn’t last as long as the first time but again it was scary. They finally just said F the Pitocin and the OB decided to let me progress naturally overnight. I was 5cm at that point. And she really didn’t want me having an emergency C-section.
Around 4am there was no change so the OB broke my water. By 7am I was dialted to 6cm and baby was at -1. They finally considered me in active labor (apparently it’s 4cm with a first time mom, 6cm with a repeat mom). Around 10am I got my epidural dosage upped when I hit the magic button (they had turned it way down during the scary episodes the night before). Contractions were strong and I was light headed and nauseous (I kept the oxygen mask on basically this whole time).
At 11am I was dilated to 9.5 and baby was at 2. At 11:45 it was pushing time! I pushed for just about 45 min. Once the head was out past my pelvic bone the baby basically slid right out.
Ari was born at 12:30pm on the dot. 6lb 9oz, 20in.
