We have Virginia Rose picked out for a girl or Spencer for a boy but we're still figuring out the middle name. I want to use Spencer Eric but my husband doesn't think Eric sounds like a middle name. He likes Spencer Reed but I don't. :-P Any middle name suggestions?
@DiFazette I love your names and I think they make a great trio with DS
Now that we are officially team Blue we've already had a name switch. What are thoughts on Keegan Max? I am not a fan of "Max" but it's my DH's late father's middle name and he wants to incorporate it. Our first DS is Drew Michael.
@Blockfour Spencer Reed is my favorite character on criminal minds! I think it goes well together, but I just wanted to point that out of you hadn't heard of the character before. I agree with your husband - Spencer Eric sounds incomplete to me for some reason.
For STM, how did you know that our name was THE name for the baby? We have been going back and forth and have some great names picked but we can't narrow it down from there. Did you just keep narrowing them down and the last one left won? Was there an AHA moment of clarity?

with DD - we had the "AHA" moment (well... I did- DH then agreed )but we were looking for something with a specific inclusion in the name (anna).

This was my first thought too! I wondered if you are a fan I love the name and think it flows really well together.
@kbduke Have you considered just taking the names you have left with you to the hospital and deciding once you meet baby? I know it's really helpful to some people to see if baby "looks" like a certain name before they commit to it.
@ashleaf2018 that is my last resort option but I would rather have something decided by then if we could.
We have some really good names picked out but there isn't one that pops out to me. So I'm kind of trying to figure out if I should keep searching and thinking of new names or if I'm over complicating it and focus on what we have.
@kbduke I totally understand! If you're feeling brave, you can take it to the Baby Names forum and ask for opinions there. Some people are brutally honest on baby names though, so I would just be aware of that.
@kbduke this isn't super helpful but we just knew both times. With DD1 we were undecided about order of the names (I was decided but DH wasnt) but the longer we talked about it the more one felt right. For this girl, we were talking about names 6 months ago and I sent him 3 I liked and he said it has to be this one. It totally just clicked. Then we told my parents we picked a girls name for when/ if we needed it (we weren't ttc yet) and my mom told me stories of an old family friend with that name. She had never spoke of it before so I felt it was a sign. Totally cheesy I know.
@sourlemon Not cheesy at all and thanks for the input! I'm sort of waiting for that kind of inspiration at this point.
@ashleaf2018 I'm definitely not brave enough for the baby name board at this point. I've ventured over there a few times but they tend to be a little too critical for my taste. We've also shared some name ideas with family previously and not had positive feedback so I think we will keep ideas to ourselves until we decided.
I know we have months to decide but it's totally frustrating to the planner in me not to have the name picked! Definitely jealous of you ladies that have already decided.

I hadn't made the connection with Criminal Minds. I think you just sold me on it! Thanks!
Since we found out last week that we're expecting a boy - DH and I have officially decided on the name Harvey Kenneth. Both are family names (my great-grandfather and his grandfather) and we're pretty happy with it!

Technically, its Spencer Reid. I actually grew up with a guy named Reid. Super nice guy!
edit: OK,I feel like kind of a jerk posting a spelling correction. I think its the more typical spelling of the name and the one I'm used too... As someone with a less common name spelling I'm surprisingly sensitive...
Love reading everyone's names and ideas!! We're somewhat frustrated trying to think of names, boy names seem especially hard! We made the mistake of telling my parents early on that we liked the name Beau for a boy and ever since they have told all our extended family and everyone has been calling the baby that, and now that we've confirmed a boy it's just to the point that were irritated and the name is almost ruined for us. Ugh. It was just something we liked not what we were set on.
So now... We're keeping name a secret, and though still undecided we are loving Brooks Anthony. Any suggestions for other middle names to go with Brooks?? I'd love to hear any ideas or opinions!

@kbduke we used our top 2-3 names as we referred to him. We used the names in conversation as if it had been decided. We'd switch it up every few days. One name didn't make it a full 24 hours before we dropped it. Saying the name out loud as a 'trial' on a regular basis worked for us.
Argh, my DH keeps changing his mind on me. Since my grandpa isn't expected to be around much longer, DH thought about naming the baby after him if we have a boy. We've already told my mom that if we have a boy, we're naming him after her brother, who passed away at 21 froms Downs. Now, I don't know what to do. I don't want to go back on our word, and upset my mom, as she was so happy that we were honoring her brother. I'm so torn. I like both of the name choices, if we have a boy, just don't know which route to go. Our choices would be Michael Banks ourlastname or Frederick Banks ourlastname.
@Mamax2 Is there any way you could honor both of them? I really love Frederick Michael as a name. You could even do two middle names if you wanted, Frederick Michael Banks [last name].
We're using banks as well to honor a family member on DH's side. So Banks needs to be used. I'm leaning more towards using 2 middle names and going with Frederick Michael Banks lastname.
Spelling question for you all. We haven't picked a final girl name yet, but a new contender has emerged and DH and I disagree on how the spelling would be. It's important to both of us that it be a name that is easy to spell, since my name is spelled unusually. We both know someone from childhood with the name; DH knows a person with one spelling form and I know a person with the other spelling form.
I've only known people who spell it with a double l, including an Allyson. I think that is much more common, but Alison isn't a "crazy" spelling either.

I prefer, and have more frequently seen, the double L. I love the name Allison. Solid pick!
Maybe the Alison spelling is regional? I'm in AZ and only know 3 of them but they are all single L alisons. Or my friends parents were confused. But I think both are common and both look normal.
We've shared. Little lady is Nora Grace. Runner up was Marin

Have you tried calling the baby those name when you talk to it and see if it fits? That's what we did.
