I definitely think girl for Wynn. Which is a little strange because I have a male coworker with the last name Nguyen, but we just call everyone by last name so I say it a lot.
I like Jon the best, with Beau a close second. Beau always make me think of a country type, tough masculine man. So if you're hardcore urban people, I definetely pick Jon. And of course these are just my crazy thoughts lol
@Bringmemylongswordho, I read/saw that too about Wynn. I think it might just be me. For whatever reason, when I think of Wynn, I immediately think of Winifred. I've never personally known anyone by either name, so I'm not sure what that's about.
I had a great aunt Winifred. Her nn was Winnie. Other nn include Freda and Freddie. Wynn is not a common nn for it, since both are welsh and Wyn is a separate name.
That said, if the thought that others might perceive it as feminine bothers you, it's probably best to drop it.
Okay, opinions? MH and I are still working on girl names. My favorites are Adeline and Estelle, his are Amelia and Tabitha. We're both kind of meh on each other's names, haha.
Dec 2016 BMB August Siggy Challenge: Awkward Back to School Photos
Some of those may be okay together, like Adeline Amelia, Amelia Estelle, Tabitha Estelle, etc. See if you two can agree on a compromise there! I love all the names, my FI shot down Adaline and Amelia for girl names. Good thing we're having a boy and could agree on the boy name!
@cgss11, I don't think you're off base at all...that's pretty much how I would classify both Jon and Beau too. My family loves Beau, but I'm not sold.
@Bringmemylongswordho, it's more of whether I think of it as feminine vs. whether others will at the end of the day really. I generally like unisex names, but I always think of them as being tied to a specific gender (ex. Taylor & Quinn, feminine; River & Kelly, masculine). I think I'm just trying to convince myself one way or another with Wynn. Mentally, it's more 50/50 than I prefer.
@emisi Oh, okay! In that case I think Amelia Laurel flows the best, but if you're really not loving it, it may be time for both of you to go back to the drawing board together. I think you should both really find a name you love, I know it may not be easy but it's definitely doable.
For a girl, FI and I are dead set on Lillianna Grace. We've shared with family and haven't had any negative comments (other then my MIL, although she was a bit intoxicated at the time). Boy names are so much more difficult to decide on for me! With my son, we didn't decide until he was born (I chose first name, his father chose middle). So far, I'm in love with the name Jameson. FI however likes Elijah (we aren't too fond of each other's boy names). We don't know the gender yet, so only time will tell --especially if it's a boy!
@H4aPartyof5 I just heard of a couple naming their son Wynn... It's grown on me. I think it will be masculine with a boy no matter what people's perception is. I also have a friend who had a son Winston who goes by Winnie... Which is definitely feminine to me but it works!
@emisi I think Adeline Laurel has a really nice ring to it! But I'm partial because I have an Adelynn and Laurel has always been on our list but it doesn't sound super great with our last name.
Okay now that we know we are having a boy, I'm ready to talk names. So DD is Elliana Emily. DS1 is Lincoln Douglas. Our alternate name for DS1 is likely going to be DS2's name... Camden. Middle name is up for discussion. I like:
Camden James Camden Avery Camden Michael
Since our last name starts with an M (and is one syllable fyi), I am leaning toward Avery for mn bc I like the idea of his initials being CAM- we would probably call him Cam as a nickname regardless of his mn. Is that too cheesy? To have his initials and nn the same? Or will no one ever think/care about that? (I'm an overanalyzer by nature) Thoughts on the name combos welcome!

My parents managed to do the initials/nickname thing with 2 of us and I think it was mostly accidental on their part. My brother is a Matthew with the initials MAT and my initials were KAT, which would be a possible nickname for my first name. I think outside the family no one really noticed or if they did they just thought it was a neat coincidence. The only person who minded a little bit was my sister because her initials didn't match her name like ours did.
Anyways, I like the flow of Camden Avery or Camden Michael and wouldn't worry too much about initials as long as they don't spell out any "bad" words haha.
@PharmDMom H's initials are TRY and you can(most don't) shorten his name to Ty. So it is kind of the same as what you are asking about. I wouldn't do it, but no one but he and I really know or care.
I personally would go with Camden Michael, just because I know several Avery's and they are all female.

We had a deal where if it's a girl I decided and boy DH decides. I have loved the name Anastasia since like middle school. I was majorly disappointed when 50 Shades came out, not because I think the books are bad, I just didn't want people to think I was naming my child based on that. But I have come to terms with people will think what they want and as long as we love the name that's what matters. I also like that if we decide to use a nn there are plenty of options; i.e. Anya, Astasia, Nastia.

I fell in love with the name Emerie but then a girl started trashing it like "youre naming her after a nail file?" honestly i dont know anyone that calls a nail file an emery board so it hadnt crossed my mind but now im second guessing

If you're going to use it, I'd suggest spelling it as Emery. It's the most common and traditional spelling, ranking 134 in 2015 and given to 2,409 girls (not counting boys at the moment, as Emery is a surname and is used for both genders) Emerie was made up and first recorded in the 90s.
As someone with a name that has multiple "variants" it's only caused annoyance. I'd rather have the traditional spelling.
@PharmDMom My brother's inital spell MAN. And honestly unless it's pointed out people never notice. I like Camden Avery but I think Camden Micheal sounds really nice too. But being that my brother's name is Michael, I'm a little partial to it

We have a few names for each and can't decide. My top female contenders are Ayla, Melina, Eleanora, Luna and Amelia. Boy names are Winn, Remi, Thompson and Harrison.
If we don't name this child Winn, we will be using that as a middle name for either sex. Winn is a family name on my husband's side. I guess you could say I don't consider it feminine at all, haha.
My favorites right now are Ayla Winn and Thompson Winn, but we'll see. I'm loving Melina, as well.
@Kacie209 That is awful!!! How do people not think about these things??
Thanks for for all the input everyone. Sounds like Avery or Michael are the front runners for mn. Now I just have to wait for DH and the kids to find out the sex this weekend at our family party (keeping this secret for the past 5 days has been so hard!!) and then we can seriously talk and decide! I also can't wait to find out what my SIL is having... It'll be our first niece/nephew on either side so we are pretty excited!

I'll preface this by saying that I am real big on name meanings and for our boy I have rejected many on that reason alone.
Winn means "handsome" which instantly places it in a boy name list (in my opinion). I agree with you also that it just sounds more masculine! Have you considered Winnie as the female possibility? It's not the same as the family name, but is a nod in that direction. It means "soft, fair and pure."
Ayla Winnie would translate roughly to "moonlight, fair and pure." That certainly puts a smile on my face!
Your fave male choice would be a little less darling in its translation ("son of Thom, handsome") unless your DH is named Tom in which case it'd be basically perfect.
All of this said, I really like all of your choices. Eager to learn what you pick when the time comes!
We're pretty well set on our first name, Tessa. For middle names I like Grace, Rose or Sue. Sue was my mom's middle name, and I would love to name her after my mom. Sue also means lily, which was my mom's favorite flower.
FI and my family both have middle name traditions that don't work together. We've always joked about the battle to ensue when we have to name our babies. But a few day ago FI said since I have to go through the whole being pregnant/giving birth thing, he'll let me middle name tradition win!
So now I need to come up with A middle names that haven't been used already. We used my favorite girl one on the dog a few years ago =\ And I love Able for a boy until I started saying it out load. Turns into something-able and just sounds weird.

@juliehollz13 Leanring how to spell always helps :P I'm not one to purposefully spell a name an unusual way. Still sounds funny though when I say Luke-Abel. It's fine nice and slow, but one I say it fast it sounds silly. Haha.
One thing that's super helpful is to look at the full credits the next time you see a movie. You may see a name that you really like up there! That's what my mom told me to try when we couldn't agree on our girl name.
DS is Jackson and all the girl names we like (we are having a girl) are also president names so we haven't shared yet because we do not want any outside opinions or comments We are just throwing names around right now. Once we officially decide we may tell close relatives.

I think not telling is a great way to avoid outside opinions or comments. With DS, his dad and I kept his name a secret until he was born for this very reason. I didn't want anyone's feedback, because it took us forever to choose a name and I knew I might doubt it if someone said something negative about it. We'll probably do the same thing this time. Once the baby is born and named, people generally keep their opinions to themselves. Easier to talk shit about a hypothetical baby name than an actual baby's name.
There is a great website I like called nymbler.com and you can type in names you like and it gives you tons of suggestions based on what kinda names you like.

So very true. I think my husband and I will also keep our name ideas a secret until the kid is born. I don't care much what other people think of what we name our child, but even the ATTEMPT to bring us down would piss me off. People are stupid. :P
@cjt121413 Yes! Noone will say they don't like baby's name when he/she is already here and named! Last time we only told my mom, dad and sister. It's SO hard for me to keep secrets, so we may just do that this time around... IF we can ever agree on a name!!
Is it terrible that I just want reviel name choices to my DH's side. My MIL does the Nursary with me.
