I'm glad that the posts were quoted, that way she can look back and hopefully realize how asinine those replies are.

@reesaXden hope LO stays put!!! Sending good vibes your way!!
  • RE: the catfish thing.. DEAR GOD. I just fell down the rabbit hole. I am in awe.

@JLmama118 I love little baby laundry! Especially when I come across a teeny sleeper mixed in with my big kid laundry.

  • First off, @reesaXden I'm glad the medicine is working and baby girl stays put.

Since we are on the catfish talk, my husband happened to have come across this gem while browsing Reddit.

@rock1cherry glad everything is okay! and always best to err on the side of caution. :)

@megan324 @kosmo86 I read somewhere that it's good to interact with the baby in such fashion so as to stimulate them (cause and effect). Love it when she pushes back at me - sometimes when I'm just resting my arms/hands on my belly. Ahh, if she's going to be as feisty as me, I'm in for some trouble.

@AlwaysAuntNeverMom DH won't talk to the belly either. He'll fall asleep touching the belly though, so I feel reassured in this manner.

@UnwritteN12 you need to harness the power of the belly and bask in it. Like how when there was a huge long line at In-N-Out and it was my turn up, I said I was really hungry and ordered fries and my order skipped everyone else's.

    @marikkita112 W T F HELL NO. I'm a clear ocean girl. Not a murky lake girl.

My random: gals, seriously, if you haven't already, look up ROCKABABY on YouTube. I ended up surprising DH with two CDs for LO. Of course, one was Jay-Z. Holla.
  • Holy crap I missed a few days and came back to 805 new posts!!! I can't!! Jumping back in- sorry to lose track ladies. Work has been so nuts, and third trimester fatigue is so, so real :/ going to try to catch up on all I missed.

  • I've actually read studies online that say that baby actually prefers touch to voice while in the womb. Something about the baby's reaction to touch is greater than by speech. I talk to her once in a while...usually when I'm alone, but I touch my belly way more and she does seem to react every time. :)

@JLmama118 Baby laundry! My SIL gave us TONS of baby clothes. I mean, bags and bags and bags, some with tags still on. She's a bargain shopper and with two boys she's picked things up on sale, or at those big baby second hand fairs and keeps them "just in case". When her second son was born a super baby (Over 10 lbs) and didn't fit into ANY of the smaller sizes she suddenly had this mass of extra stuff, which we got.

I washed two bags of it (still one to go) and folding all of that stuff got daunting. The socks were out of control. It's fun though and I can't wait to snuggle him in some of the sleepers and onsies.

Talking to baby: I talk to him directly sometimes, usually just saying his name and saying silly things like "What are you doing? Are you napping? Whatcha thinkin' about? Sleepy baby!". It's ridiculous, but I enjoy it. DH will occasionally speak to him and call him cute nicknames and things. When we talk to him he moves A LOT. Especially when DH is talking. I think it's more of "There's this gigantically loud voice suddenly echoing through my chambers!" thing that's making him move, but I don't doubt he'll be able to recognize DH's voice later. :)

My random: Just got a bit bummed out. We have an upcoming family vacation and things are already getting kind of strained among family members. This will be the first full family vacation any of us have been on in YEARS and no one's used to it, so everyone's coming in with different expectations that are already not being met. I said something that kind of upset my mom and then felt bad about it, and then got mad about feeling bad about it and ranted to DH for what felt like an hour before my pregnant-lady hormones made me cry everywhere over it, even though it's not a big deal.  I love spending time with my family, and we all usually have such a good time when we're together, so I don't know why I'm suddenly worried about this vacation being stressful. *sigh*

Edit: I have to add... someone PLEASE tell me it's not worth it to go all ranty on the "disgusted" thread, because other people have already so intelligently argued points and now I feel there's a troll situation and despite the fact that I already swore I wouldn't participate anymore after the initial crazy response, I keep reading it and I'm getting mad and twitchy. I'm not eloquent when I'm mad and twitchy, I'm bitchy... and while bitchy looks fetch on some ladies, it does not on me.

    Edit 2: I compromised.

  • @Bibliobebe how many people are you vacationing with? I usually find it stressful when there is too many people in one roof, even if I'm on a beautiful deserted island ...(okay maybe not then)

im currently on vacation with my immediate family and my two girls and I already had a breakdown on Saturday night haha PS WHO rents a beach house that doesn't have a freaking shower inside? But that's a whole other story

My dad is literally complaining about every single little thing and I'm about to lose my shit. Especially because 90 percent of it is complaining about what my girls are or aren't doing. I mean, he's getting upset if my one year old doesn't listen to him ....LOL LOL [insert slap on the knee]

anyway moral of my story is, I get why you could be stressed out and I've learned no matter how hard you try you can't please everyone when it comes to vacations. but do what you can to enjoy your time with your family. Where y'all going?

  • Man, it's hard to stay up to date on this there are so many posts!! I take it things have gotten crazy over on the thread about the pregnant mom smoking thread?? Also, I hope everyone's contractions calm down, but I've been thinking it's getting so close that one of the non-catfishers is bound to have a teeny weeny baby any time now and it's so crazy and amazing!! My ticker changed down to nine weeks and some change, single digits, it seems so close now and I'm near the end of the group here!! We've all made it so far!!
  • @seitzy3 We're heading to Florida for beach time! It's my siblings, their spouses, their kids, my parents and then DH and I. So a total of 8 adults and 3 kids between the ages of 1 and 12. I think there was some expectation of "Separate but together" on some sides and "total family togetherness" on others. I think we're just gonna wing it. We'll be on the beach for crying out loud. Family drama is so natural and unavoidable so sometimes I find it weird how we don't learn to just take stuff in stride. I'm sure it'll be nice no matter what, it's just easy for me to get worked up over stuff lately. Take a bow prego hormones.

  • Had an insanely busy day at work after being off Thur and Fri and am just catching up...

@reesaXden So scary to read about what you went through yesterday! I hope baby girl stays put as long as possible. Thinking of you, Mama!

@rock1cherry Sorry to hear you had a bit of a scare, too. Glad to hear all is well so far!

Catfishing is crazy and simultaneously fascinating. What drives those people?!

Meanwhile, off to catch up on other threads as it sounds like some juiciness has taken place!

  • Caught up again.

Scary about the premature labor/contractions but glad they were able to put a stop to it.

In regards to lurkers making announcements, I'm sure they feel connected to the board if they're regularly keeping up regardless of of they're participating, so sure, announce your baby.  But don't expect to be welcomed to any private group/FB group that comes from this board....anyone feeling like they want to be a part of that I encourage to come out of the woodwork sooner than later and be a part of the community (I say this feeling like I barely comment.  I want to more than I do! But I would hope that people that don't at all are not privy to personal information when that time comes!)

In other news, I'm officially obsessed with Hamilton now.  It's all I think about.  I can't wait to write my curriculum for my theatre class cause we are totally doing a unit on it!

  • Also, sorry for the multiple posts, I can't remember who it was, maybe @Jabreen? But the Nexium has been working great.  Some people need two weeks but I think I've been taking it five days or so and haven't had an episode of the god awful firepit I was experiencing before.  Worth a try if you need something else.
  • @megan324 For reals...that happened the month after my first BMB, I think right after we went to FB? I don't remember exactly but still super scary and made me wonder if I made a mistake.  Fortunately my first BMB is great and I'm pretty sure everybody's real ;) There have been several meet ups all over the place.

  • DH and I were just discussing travel and I'm so overwhelmed. We take at least 2 trips a year to visit family. Starting in December we have to figure out how to haul 3 carseats and 3 small kids through the airport and I seriously don't know how people do it.
  • @Megan324 I know, right?  My head is spinning! :hushed:

  • My dog won't stop walking around. He's not going anywhere. He's just pacing around the room like an asshole, scratching his claws on the floor
wirh every stupid step. I've been awake the past two hours trying to get him to STFU. Finally fall asleep. DD is awake!

Bright side, rocking her back to sleep and it's dark in here so I can barely see her face. She's at that transition point where she looks so old now, but here in the dark, her sweet little face still looks like my baby.
  • @Prof=Mom that's too funny! I wonder if someone in their campaign was just being a jerk?
  • @MrsVoorhees Looks like we've got a "Middle of the Night" club going again.

Wasn't sleepy and was having some cramps so I was on edge. Finally tried to catch some sleep at about 11. Woke up at 11:30, then 12:30 then 1 then 2 and then just stayed awake. So here it is almost 3 and I'm not sleepy AT ALL.

But I'm bored and have no desire to do anything productive at 3am... ugh. I'm going to Pinterest until I feel sleepy again.

  • @Bibliobebe insomnia is awful! My LO will not go to sleep unless I'm rocking her. It's making me crazy. I think she's getting her canines though, finally. I just gave her some Tylenol, hopefully that will help her feel better and pass out around 6:30 when my alarm goes off. I was supposed to get to sleep in an hour today because I'm not going to work before my 3 hour test....there goes actually getting extra sleep!
  • @MrsVoorhees  Dang, that stinks. :/  I hope your LO feels better soon and will drop off to sleep and give you at least a few hours.

Hopefully the Tylenol works. It very rarely doesn't. We call it "slipping her a mickey" because usually she passes right out within 30 minutes of giving it to her.
  • @MrsVoorhees  I think it was the same guy who did Herman Cain's speech a few years back that was the Pokémon theme song. #youcantmakethisup

@mrsvoorhees We at least know those who post HDBD pics are real. Or are they....
Not necessarily. There are people out there who find an insecure Facebook page with children and copy the photos and repost them as their own, pretending to be the parent of that child over an extended period of time The Internet is a effed up place.

It would be VERY EASY to google "30 weeks pregnant bump pic" and just post those in HDBD.

  • @jlmama118 I like the idea of a labor thread to keep that all separate. I've seen it in other birth months.

As for the Facebook thing, I don't have Facebook so I won't be joining that group, but I promise I'm real. Haha :)
