@LakeR2014 - I think you'll be amazed at how different it is when it's his own baby. My husband had held my nephew in the hospital right after he was born (3 years before our son) and probably not many, or not any, other babies.. but his own.. just completely natural.
For the summer BBQ I had coleslaw, and a bag of doritos, and quite a few desserts - because, duh! My husband said he wouldn't be upset if I brought some fried chicken home for him (this place is known for their chicken). My coworkers encouraged me to, so I put some in my tupperware to take home.. whatever.
I ate inside with some coworkers because it's hot and muggy out.. but those who were outside came in saying some woman who's been at our company for a little over a year got ARRESTED from the front courtyard. Cop came up, asked her if her name was Carrie and told her he had a warrant for her arrest, cuffed her and took her away. WHY DID I MISS THIS?! Ugh.
@RG1 That's sweet! It reminds me of my own husband. Our first nephew was born the same day I got my BFP for our first. We saw him for the first time when he was a week old, and DH was so freaked out holding him. Someone handed our nephew over while he was standing. His mom and I told him he could go sit down if he wanted to, and he informed us he was too scared to move with him. Haha.
@LakeR2014 I agree with Anna. Despite DH's obvious discomfort holding our newborn nephew, he was a total natural with our daughter. First pic is holding our nephew. Second is holding McKenna. (Both at about a week old.)
My husband holding Emmett for the first time. He was still a little overly cautious with his stature, but he just sat there and stared at him, smiling, forever. One of my favorite pictures, and I just snagged it on my phone from my hospital bed because I knew it would be a moment I'd want to see over and over again...
@AnnaS930 No, how did WE miss this!? I need to know this story now!! When I was at jury duty, I was on a long break from court and went back to the jury pool room to read, and they had people there that were checking in for child support something, and the guy in the row right behind me got arrested for a warrant. I just froze and was afraid to look around.
@AnnaS930 I think we've discussed about cleaning up the body hair of our husbands before. I swear he sheds as much as the cat and dog.
He used to shave where his tattoo is when we first got together, but that ended a long time ago. But to be fair, I shave/trim less frequently now as well.
@annas930 I can't believe you missed the drama! When I was in college and was working at a restaurant in the afternoon (barely any customers at the time) and all of a sudden 6 unmarked cop cars surround a car in our parking lot with guns drawn for a big drug bust. It was insane to watch. One guy tried to run and ride in our dumpsters!

@camichael84 - we have discussed it before, but a lot of women claim to understand, then I see their husband and it's like "OH PLEASE!" all men have hair on their arms and legs.. not all men are covered head to toe. Like, even my husband's beard goes higher than most men
@AnnaS930 Same with my husband's beard. Even with his beard, he still shaves almost daily. I get all men need to keep a beard trimmed and shaped, but he has to go above and beyond.

Half of why I was a Resident Assistant in college is because I love knowing all of the gossip/drama. We had a couple huge drug busts (dealing heroin), where the squat team took the doors off the hinges and completely trashed the rooms. And I got to just kind of stand in the background and see what I could see
I love being nosy with the big drama!! The last place I worked hired some super sketchy people through a temp agency. The last day of my job my bff and I were walking outside around the buildings when three huge cops came busting out of HR perp walking this guy who worked in our dept. We kept checking all the area jail checkins until I found him, he had been arrested for multiple counts of child abuse and sexual offender stuff.
I don't know about y'all but I am a walking zombie today. Yet I still managed to take D to the dentist, and stock the house with essentials for the husband before we leave for vacation.
@marajay6 yes it might be cold feet. I disliked my first daughters name for the first 6 months. But the girl is so odd, just like her name haha fits her perfectly. I am just going to stick with telling people we will decide at birth. Everyone has an opinion!
@LizC216 why?! I got mine yesterday and I could hardly sleep last night between the peeing, sore arm, and my toddler talking in her sleep.

@AnnaS930 Ha! This was me too! Although the money didn't hurt. But all the inside stuff you found out about or witnessed was gold! I once heard a loud crash when I was on duty on a Friday night. Went running upstairs to come face to face with a girl staggering naked down the boys section of the hall way. All the guys who were still there at the time (think nerd type guys) just looked out they're doors in aww while I yelled at one of them to throw me a towel and ran down and wrapped it around her. Needless to say she was taken away by ambulance. It's still one of my most WTF moments as a RA.
@LakeR2014 - oh the free room/board (URI had you pay it up front and paid it back to you in weekly paychecks) made a HUGE different in the student loans I came out with, made them totally tolerable and easily paid off.
That's a great moment.. I used to love doing the write-ups after big events, my supervisor always wanted me to trim my explanations down, but I didn't want anyone to miss out on the amazing experience. I liked having direct quotes from the residents in the story, etc. because drunken quotes are just so priceless, I was hoping someone higher up was getting some entertainment out of it
@LizC216 I know! DH and I both got ours yesterday and he isn't sore at all, you can't even see where he got it. Meanwhile my arm feels so heavy and sore and I'm growing a bruise there. It's swollen and woke me up a couple of times last night. Also, for some reason, I bled a lot when I got it, right through the band aid and onto my sleeve three times, wtf?
I used my amazon completion discount today!! 26 items!!! My biggest order ever.
Also has anyone watched the new show American Gothic on CBS? Watching it now and it is pretty good, it reminds me of Pretty little Liars except they are are adults.

My husband asked me to hold off on ordering from Amazon for a while because he can't keep up with throwing the boxes away since they take up our whole bin. I agreed, but failed to mention I had already ordered like 5 more things...in separate transactions. Oops.
Today is bring your child to work day. Last year they had a local dairy bring their ice cream truck and the kids got free ice cream and the employees had the option to buy after. I was looking forward to it all week, but there is no ice cream truck. I am legitimately angry.
@MrsVoorhees we can never keep up with the boxes. this week alone we should have 10-15 boxes delivered! we have recycling picked up once a week but it isn't enough and we drive to the recycling center every other week.

@PSUBecky23 Oh ok good! I was envisioning trying to get breastfeeding in place and waiting in line at the social security office with a crying baby haha
Ok now I am tearing up looking at pics of all of the dads holding their babies! We should start a thread for that after all of our new ones are born!
@UnwritteN12 That is scary! I am glad you are ok and that the contractions stop soon!
My random for the day? I am heading out to a concert tonight at 8 months pregnant! LOL. I am a little nervous about the walking and the heat since it is outdoors, but we bought pavilion seats so I am excited to rock out to Heart, Joan Jett & the Blackhearts and Cheaptrick!!!
Married: 3/21/15 First time mom to a human but have been a puppy mamma for over 12 years
I used my amazon completion discount today!! 26 items!!! My biggest order ever.
I'm so excited to use my Amazon completion discount! Mine will be my biggest Amazon order, too. I keep looking at it just to see the things I'm going to buy. Haha.
Regarding boxes... we ended up getting a second recycling bin. It's still not usually enough, but to be fair, our recycling only comes every other week.
@blondie080300 Heart is amazing!! I saw them in 2009 (can't believe that's been 7 years ago!), and hands down one of my favorite concerts ever. I've seen Cheaptrick as well. Also good, but they're no Heart.
@JennM205 so glad everything's ok!! Take it easy mama!
@Jabreen is that a dog X-ray? How many animals are in that litter?? Sheesh!!!
I just have have to say that I'm so proud of my DS today. He's a totally different boy compared to yesterday. We had to run a bunch of errands this morning and he was awesome through them all. Before we got back in the car to go home, I had him pee outside (bc he's amazed by that- the joys of having a boy). We got back in the car and about 10 mins into our drive he said pee/poop and I thought "oh shit" as I drove down the highway. Well he held it for 15m more before we got home and made it to the potty. This is week 2 without diapers (as I knock on all of the wood)- yessssssss. Currently he's taking a solid nap while I bump and organize the office.
yesterday, however, he peed himself while sitting on the couch and did not nap a wink. It's crazy how they can be complete opposites from day to day.
What am I getting into throwing a newborn in the mix?????
@Sbrown721 I still don't have a birth certificate for my nearly 2 year old. The hospital filed everything so that it exists at the courthouse, but I don't have a copy. At this point, I figure I'll just get both girl's BCs at once after LO is born. SS card came in the mail when she was a couple weeks old. It was addressed to her, and I nerdily loved that.
@RedMar Source said it was a cat, though I'd imagine a dog would look very similar. Thank goodness human multiples are very rarely over 2-3, and even that is less likely than a singleton. I have make respect for the MoM's!
@LakeR2014 I have a girl at work who is a constant complainer and one upper. It's incredibly frustrating. i actually find it very hard to deal with.
@LizC216 I got my tdap on Tuesday last week and I have a bump on my arm still and it HURT up until Monday night this week. Like, couldn't sleep on that side, which was annoying, because i got it in my left arm.
@kosmo86 I'll have to check it out! I saw an ad for it, but forgot completely.
Wife to A; Mama to C (2009), N (2011), H (2014) & baby F due 09/16/16
Thanks for the well wishes and support, everyone. I was released from the hospital a few hours ago but didn't have the energy to post an update - basically had enough gumption to eat a meal (finally! - they wouldn't let me eat at the hospital just in case) and then take a nice nap in the recliner. My boss is insisting I take the rest of today and tomorrow off, which I really appreciate. I am not going to lie - that experience this morning was a bit of a wake-up call! Time to get serious about the rest of the to-do list!
@UnwritteN12 Sorry to hear you're on the contraction train, too! I
hope they take it easy on you and don't cause any trouble before your
scheduled cs!
@AnnaS930 Whoa! What drama at the work BBQ today!
I, too, would be dying to know the details. With a company the size if
yours (not too huge), I'd think info will spread...whether or accurate
or not... Be sure to keep us updated!
RE Tdap vaccines - I
haven't had mine yet and planned on waiting until after this weekend so I
could be sore at work instead of when I'm trying to be social (we have a
busy weekend ahead). But after getting stuck about 15ish times trying
to have an IV inserted today... I have four bruised and swollen in
total - two different spots in my right wrist and one spot each in my
left wrist and hand; all of which that were repeatedly poked. At this
point, I might as well go get the damn shot, haha!

What about Social Security card?
What else am I missing and what sort of time frame are we looking at for getting these completed?
