Bumping this thread back up cause I'm restless and need more craft ideas. Added baby's name to his birth record now that we know the sex, and I need a new project since I can't finish this yet. What's everyone else working on?
I am going to attempt to paint something like this for the little man. I've done custom signs before but nothing this fancy! I am still thinking on how I am going to print stencils to make it work. Wish me luck ladies!
@krzyriver I REALLY want to make one of these as an ottoman to go with the glider but I can't find the right color and type of yarn needed I need a coral/peachy color tshirt yarn. I ordered some and when it arrived, it was definitely not coral at all, like the description said. It was a beautiful pink color, but definitely not what we needed to go with the other decor.
@bnsmith85 My friend had the same problem with coral yarn. I think she finally had to just google "coral yarn" and order a few different ones. I really wish there were more yarn shops around. It would make crafting so much easier.

that's what I had to do. I found some that was the perfect color locally but the material of the yarn just wouldn't work for the project (trust me, I tried). You should have seen me when the delivery of the stuff I ordered came in. My face was like a kid on Christmas.... then I saw the color. wha wha whaaaaaa lol Needless to say, I'll be returning it all.
@schell2013 I can't remember what thread you were posting your elephant print ideas in, but wanted to let you know Zulily has some really sweet ones on sale right now under "The Ideal Nursery". I made some canvas prints for Ds1 nursery, using fabric stretched over store-bought canvases and stencils. You can do it!

I got some of these in one of the woodland print sets and I absolutely love them!

Resurrecting this thread because I've started knitting another blanket for the wee one.. it took me a while to get the zigzag down, but now I've got it! it's going to be the gray and teal as shown and then a light pink and white with varying widths of the stripes!
Well apparently the bump and the bump app hate me cause I can't post a pic.. grrrr. Nvm- got it! the pink in the blanket will be about the same pink as her name in this photo..
This is the next project I'm working on! Our theme is vintage Disneyland (subtle and retro, inspired a lot by the artist Shag). I'm going to make this sign, but instead of Disneyland, I'm going to use our son's name and have it say "Remyland"! Looks easy enough and we're both artists so I hope we can pull it off without looking stupid! I'll post pics when it's done!
Finally got around to crafting some more (really I should be working on cutting the invitations out, but I needed to get my hands dirty). I'm not completely done, I want to add either flowers or some buttons, then I'll tie a ribbon in a bow at the top so I can hang it. I love the way it turned out! The color is totally off in the picture though, it's a gray, dark teal, and a mint.
@nataliemaephotography - so cute! This colors do look totally off though, in the picture of course lol... I had a friend do this with several letters for a display in her home so I know this took a while for you to make. Again, looks awesome!
Everything looks awesome ladies! You have inspired me to get moving on my project.
I know mobiles are kind of pointless but I really wanted to make one to tie into our Harry Potter theme. My plan is to make little felt owls, broomsticks, etc. to hang from it. Here's Hedwig - I think she turned out pretty good!
@suzy311 It is pretty fun! Something therapeutic about it, I think. We'll see if mine come out as cute as the inspiration! I think the main trick will be making two that look equally good.
@kmvisioli@suzy311 Those look awesome guys! It never occurred to me to try making a mobile. I just found one on etsy and ordered it without thinking. Now that I look at it, I probably could have put it together myself.
@krzyriver I love that mobile - perfect for a SW nursery! You are doing so many crafty things already - I wouldn't be able to do half the things you've done haha.
@suzy311 Isn't it cute? I couldn't resist. Lol. Yeah, I've done a few crafty things. I'm kind of over doing them myself. This probably would've frustrated me anyway.
@suzy311 I can not express to you how jealous I am that you are doing a Harry Potter theme... Since I have zero plans for today, I have just been inspired to have a Harry Potter marathon with the kids!
Current project done. The baby's crib mobile. I couldn't see spending $50 on something that hangs over the baby when I could just make one. And I went all out on that kinda stuff with our first DS and he didn't like the music he just liked looking at it. Also just about done with the babys blanket I'm knitting. Ignore the crayon on the wall. My 3 year old is a little artist.
Re: Has anyone started crafting yet?
Finished this last month sometime!
And a (very dark) close-up:
