I know there was a thread awhile back about knitting/crocheting, and many of us were planning on starting. Just thought it would be nice to share pictures of our projects somewhere. I'll start!
Is that blanket your first time crocheting @br0co1ii? Impressive! My SIL made us some burp cloths similar to the ones in your first pic (if those are burp cloths) and they were awesome. Way better than the flimsy store bought ones we got off our registry.
@sidecarsareforbishes it's not my first time crocheting, but I haven't done it much lately. A baby usually has to be getting born in order for me to do it, so the last time was about 2 years ago when my sister had her shower. And yes, those are burp cloths. They're so soft! Hopefully they stay that way for a little while.
Edit due to a typo that looked like a grammatical mistake and it made my eyes bleed.
That all looks great! I haven't stated yet. I'm finishing up a project then will start a baby blanket! I also love those colors, yellow white and green. My idea for the nursery is a soft yellow with sage green accents.
@br0co1ii and @nataliemaephotography,you guys are inspiring me to start a new project with your awesome blankets. I'm going to start knitting a blanket as soon as I finish the sweater I'm making for my soon-to-be nephew. Thanks!
@nataliemaephotography I knit, not crochet, but I'm no good at reading patterns either. Maybe try YouTube. I've seen chevrons patterns on there. They show you how to do it.
I started a baby blanket but scrapped it and used the yarn to make wash clothes. I need to order some new yarn before I can start a blanket again. And I started a cross stitch birth record. Our nursery is going to be Star Wars, so I had to design the pattern myself. I finished everything I can for now. Once we know the sex, I'll pop the name in. And the rest I'll finish after the baby is born obviously.
@br0co1ii Thank you! I wish I knew how to do the awesome chevron pattern like yours, but I'm no good at reading patterns.
Luckily, my grandmother taught me how to do a chevron pattern when I was little. I hadn't done it since I was about 12 or so, but the pattern I was following wasn't working and I was able to pull my lesson out from deep inside my memory and fix it. Basically you stitch 3 in one chain, and skip 2 chains somewhere down the line. So my pattern here is stitch 14, then 3 stiches in one, stitch 14, skip 2, repeat... Patterns have missing info ALL the time. It's so annoying.
I've still got the yarn I bought for my son's blanket sitting in a bag (he is almost 2). I just never got the hang of knitting or crocheting, I never found a good tutorial. I did dye some onsies and sew some.burp cloths for him and will do that again this time.
I mostly decor craft. All that Pinterest diy stuff.
Just finished this as a gift for my brother's soon-to-be-born son. I started making it for my sister-in-law's baby when he was born, but he's too big for it now. It's sized for 6 months. Took me a little longer than anticipated.
I love all the crafts so far! I'm waiting to start until we know if it's a boy/girl nursery to decorate. I am working on a baby blanket for some friends, and I love it so much that I might steal this color combo if we are having another girl
@AllyTheKid I say it does! Lol. Here's the birth record I started. I had to steal and adjust the border, the little symbol, and the letters (which will obviously go in later) from three different Star Wars cross stitch patterns to fit our nursery theme.
So jealous of all you ladies who can knit & crochet!
I am planning a Harry Potter nursery. It will be a lot of DIY stuff. My first task is going to be making a mobile with little felt broomsticks and owls. I bought a spinning mobile music box on Etsy that plays the theme song from the movie. Hopefully I won't crumble into a pile of frustration and disappointment before I finish.
@krzyriver I love the Star Wars idea! If I mention it to DH I am positive he'll want to switch (though he favors the Empire...blasphemy)
@suzy311 Lol! Originally I was going to do the Imperial symbol too but there wasn't room. LO already has 4 lightsabers.... Two blue and two red. I'm the SW nerd but Hubby really jumped on the idea! What's your theme now?
I am just waiting to find out what we are having in two weeks and then let the sewing begin. I sew for a living, but doing it for your own baby is so much more fun!
@krzyriver Sounds like equal opportunity lightsabers to me DH & I are both SW fans but he is much more into it. I'm sure he'd love a SW nursery!
Right now I'm leaning towards a Harry Potter theme. It's both exciting & daunting going with a theme that doesn't have commercially available nursery decor. All the crafting!
@suzy311 That part almost put me off the SW idea. But things I can't make, like sheets, I found pretty cheap on Etsy. I suppose I could take this opportunity to learn to sew, but it's unlikely. Lol. So I'll have the birth record, the sabers, sheets, and a movie poster that used to be in my room when I was a kid. Everything else will probably just be blues and greys. So not too over the top with theme I hope. Harry Potter is cute tho! I thought about it because I have this stuffed owl I want the baby to have, but I haven't been real into HP since college. But the crafting part is the fun part!
@krzyriverYes Etsy is a lifesaver! I am so glad there are people more talented than me who are selling things. Your SW stuff sounds perfect - it's a clear theme without being over the top. I guess I'll have to find a few key pieces and work around them!
I make headbands (turbans, bows, etc.), but I haven't really started anything for the boys yet (boy ties, burp cloths, etc.) because I'm in denial that there are two boys inhabiting my ute. Haha.
I have been on chalk painting kick and I bought supplies to make a dreamcatcher for the wilderness nursery though.
I started a blanket but with this cold one of the tiny outsiders gave me I'm afraid I'll put my germs on it so I've put it off. Since we plan on being team Green I am making 2 sets of hat, booties, and scratch mittens one blue one pink. I'll probably donate other set to our hospitals NICU.
I started making my sweet little babe this quilt. I know the squares aren't perfect but I just am in love with it. ❤️ I just have to finish quilting the backing onto it and trim around the edges. I don't know the sex of my baby yet so I went with a gender neutral rustic look.
After looking through this thread, I am going to JoAnn Fabrics tonight to get some yarn to start a blanket for this little chick. I've knitted blankets for all three of my kids and I feel like I must do it again..
Re: Has anyone started crafting yet?

Pic for those too lazy to click. It's a double-knitted blanket. Two different colors (or not, you decide), knit on the same needles at the same time.
