@jhems776You posted about CL, and it's a great way to get rid of (or acquire earlier this summer in our case!) patio furniture. But have you used the local the mom yahoo listservs? I'm on a couple for my neighborhood. Great for selling / buying, too (baby stuff or otherwise). Plus have other random info on daycares, etc.
Sorry to hear about the contractions @seitzy3. I hope you can get some help this weekend or find quiet activities to entertain your girls while you try and take it easy. Would this be something that could result in bed rest? Not trying to make you paranoid, just curious as a FTM how they would handle you having contractions so early that seem to go away when you are resting.

Thanks for the reassurance, ladies! They kept saying peace of mind is very important to them but it was hard not feeling guilty.
@seitzy3 I do feel better now! I was in tears in the shower this morning irrationally thinking the worst (thanks, PGAL brain). I hope your contractions stop ASAP. Do you have any family around that could come help with the girls over the weekend? A quiet weekend sounds impossible with a 3yo and 1yo.
@blondie080300 I'm assuming if they continue they might put me on modified bed rest. I will see how this weekend goes and was bummed my midwife wasn't there. I see her for a check up on Wednesday morning so I'll talk to her about it if the contractions don't get worse. But honestly, when I am standing my stomach feels so tight. It's the weirdest feeling and I haven't had this with the other two
@AlwaysAuntNeverMom unfortunately I have zero family here. My family is in Philadelphia and husbands is in CA. I have great friends but they also have kids so I feel kind of bad asking them to watch the girls. I am supposed to visit my family next Friday for two weeks but I am trying to figure out what's going on first.
So I had my first appointment with a midwife today! It was overall a really great experience and I loved everything she had to say (except the minor lecture on watching my weight which I've managed to avoid with my current OB lol). So up next is my ultrasound on Tuesday to see if my placenta has moved enough to make the decision to switch practices or not. She did a really nice job of trying to sell me on how they would still love to treat me even if I did need a c-section and one of their OBs would do it and a midwife would be in attendance for me to offer support. That was very sweet of her to say. I still have a tough choice to make but I am going to wait and see what the ultrasound on Tuesday shows before stressing any more over whether to switch practices or not.
What is also a little scary that I hate to admit, is that by switching to the midwives and delivering out the of alternative birthing center unit that I want to, I am making the COMMITMENT to have this baby naturally. LOL. I have been so gun-hoe about this and my hypnobirthing classes had me so focused on it. But so much time has gone by since my class ended and I haven't been doing the relaxation exercises that I am supposed to do every day so now anxiety and doubt is creeping back into my head. I need to refocus and spend these next 10 weeks mentally preparing for it as I know I can do this! But, for the moment, I am allowing myself to feel a little freaked out again until I have to make the decision. Selfishly part of me was going to be ok if the placenta doesn't move so the decision is made for me to have a c-section and I can not feel guilty about it. But deep down inside, I want the placenta to move, I want to switch practices and I want to try and have this baby naturally. It is just stepping outside of my comfort zone to switch to a new practice when I have been seeing my OB/gyno since I was 17 (I am 33 now). Change can definitely be good but it is not always easy!

For my anemic friends, I was just told about this product today from the midwife. It is liquid iron and supposedly gentle on the digestive system. Even though my iron is only slightly below normal, I ordered some from Amazon so I can start taking it since the ice cravings make me think it may drop lower by time this baby arrives. I will report back on how it tastes and if it I feel better!
@blondie080300 - Sounds positive overall, now take the weekend off of thinking about it until you have the ultrasound and see if that pesky placenta has shimmied its way up.
Also - if having the baby naturally is something that you truly desire, maybe it would be easier to do it at the birthing center? The major deterrent for why I didn't get an epidural is because the anesthesiologist was going to need about 90 minutes to get there and give it to me. If it had been sitting right next to me and able to be received in second, I would have absolutely had it. The idea of waiting convinced me that I could persevere and keep going (mind you, I did have a dose of pain killers... don't let me be claiming to have gone 100% med free, just 75% ). Whatever you choose will be the right choice!
@seitzy3 Good luck this weekend and I hope the contractions stop. That sounds really scary. So they said it's just your body over-exerting itself?
That's the thing. They didn't say anything along those lines. Just to keep monitoring them and if they stay the same all weekend or get worse then check myself into the hospital this weekend. But it's in my best interest to keep my feet up as much as I can for a few days. That's why I was a little confused bc I am having them but how am I supposed to know when enough is enough and to go to the hospital? On a positive note I haven't had many since leaving the office but I've also been lying down while one naps and the other is at school.
My kiddo had a great day at daycare, doo-daaah doo-daaah!! He ate all his food and took a good nap, oh the doo-dah dayyy!
Last week he bit friends 3 out of 4 days. And all of this week has had "ok" days, which is very unlike him - either not eating great or having trouble napping. Had a great day today though! Starting his early transition to the Toddler Room next week, this gives me some confidence!
Need to complain... I have my shower in my hometown later this month. I am flying in on a Weds, H is driving in on the Friday, and we were suppose to drive back together. Then yesterday he says last min work trip from the Tues (day after we get back) for four days. Annoying sure but whatever. Then now he says he has to fly out on the Monday so I'll need to get a flight back by myself and we will need to get him a flight out for two weeks from now (wish his work could cover that 200-300 bill). I know there is nothing he can do but I'm pissed, like don't even come in for it! Also, we eased up on the ship all gifts because we were driving now we will have to wait till my parents come in for the birth to get them. Need to calm down, this is just hormones, I'm so pissed.
@seitzy3 I know your husband isn't military, but your issue is what my military wife friend calls "The Deployment Curse." As soon as her husband is gone, she wrecks her car, or her son with disabilities swallows a Bobby pin, or their fridge breaks. You, my friend, are suffering from Deployment Curse. I hope you're able to relax this weekend and everything goes back to normal!
@MojieJo just play it by ear when they get here they'll be so little in a big crib when they're newborns, even sleeping together, B will have plenty of room!
@JennM205 - quesiton how do you pronounce the nickname Evie? Do you use the short E so it's like Ehv-y (like ever, but with a y instead of the 'er') or do you use a longer e like eve with a y? If this one is a girl, her name will be Evelyn, but I'm thinking just Ev for a nickname, but DH wants evie, but I don't like the typical pronunciation of that (eve-ie).
@PoodleDoodleOoo We pronounce it Ehv-y, not Eee-vy. Every once in a while, people will refer to here as "Eee-vie"...it doesn't bother me but I don't really get it. Her name is "Ehv"-elyn, not "Eeev"-elyn, lol! Everyone I've ever known who goes by Evie (ok, so just two people - the girl from elementary school and a great-aunt) both pronounced it Ehv-y too.
@JennM205 - whew! I like the Ehv-y pronounciation (duh, it's like Evelyn!) but hate the Eee-vie pronunciation, because duh, it's not like Evelyn (not dissing those that use it, just nms, I guess).
My great-grandma, who our potential daughter would be named after, just went by Evelyn, no nicknames, so I never even thought of a nickname possibility till DH went, "aw, Evelyn, that's cute. Little Eeevie!" Um, no. It's Evelyn. Or maybe Evie. or just Ev. We'll see.
@seitzy3 Sorry to hear you had such confusing results from your NST / visit to your nurse. I would be asking all of the same questions you are - what vague instructions you were given!! My thoughts on it are this - first, do not feel guilty about asking for help from friends. We all need people to lean on here and there...if the situation were reversed, I'm sure you would do the same for them (and happily)! It feels good to be needed so don't let guilt stop you from reaching out when in need! Second, if you go to the hospital at any point and they send you home because it's nothing, oh well. Better to be safe than sorry. I'm not going to lie - I wouldn't wish upon you the reaming I got from my doctor when I had a weird symptom episode a month ago and didn't go to the ER. From now on, I've promised my OB (and myself) that if anything seems "off" I'm heading to the hospital. If it turns out to be nothing? Oh well. Great, actually! Hang in there, Momma!
@COmama87 Ugh expired juice? To someone already complaining of diarreah? Not a good mix. And here we are, reading labels and being all paranoid (or guilty) about what we put in our bodies while pregnant. The one place you should be able to trust without thinking is your OB's office!
DD and H like to play this game where he lays down in the floor and she jumps on him and he tickles her. She threw her basketball earlier and it went under our tv cabinet so I laid down on the floor to get it. She took this as "time to jump on mama" time. She squeals, jumps on me and I can't get her off. I'm trying to get up and I'm legitimately panicking because I can't get up with her on me because all my ab strength is gone. I felt like a beetle on its back, I seriously freaked out a tiny bit. I will flip every beetle I see now.
Both my girls have hand foot and mouth right now... C(7) has a couple of blisters and is unfazed, but H(2) has all kinds of them in her mouth, and a 102 fever. I feel so terrible for them
Wife to A; Mama to C (2009), N (2011), H (2014) & baby F due 09/16/16
@jhems776 I would be upset too! Hormones or no hormones, this is a huge inconvenience to you and your DH. There is no way I'd want to wait for all of the gifts since so many of them are for when the baby ARRIVES not afterwards. Ugh! Now I am all upset for you! There has to be another way....
Married: 3/21/15 First time mom to a human but have been a puppy mamma for over 12 years
guys I hate mobile bumping but for some idiotic reason my laptop won't let me post, reply, comment, like posts, nothing. For 3 days. So I'm trying to catch up on 500 posts, and I keep trying to respond and tag people but the "draft saved" deletes and eats half my post. So freaking aggravating!!!!!! So I'll do my best before I lose patience and throw my phone.
Lack of sex- yup, so real. DH hasn't been interested since week 14, and we are on week 30 now. I've tried EVERYTHING. He is too weirded out. It's gonna be a looooooooooong few months there should be a thread about neglected expectant mothers because their hubbys are weirded out!
I too am on the sucky sleep train. Back pain, hip pain, sometimes no pain, I just tend to wake up twice to pee, and at 4 am I wake up and can't sleep again till 6 or later, and then I have to go to work so I have to get up by 8-8:30. And the weird dreams are SO REAL. And this kid moves around so much, especially at night, that it's hard to sleep.
@PoodleDoodleOoo omg yes I am sassy as all hell right now, and I've got this new zero tolerance for any BS thing going on. I'm loving it though!
@Sbrown721 Congrats! Just be honest with your expectations for maternity leave. My job doesn't have any actual plan for it and they technically don't have to give me any, but I came up with a game plan and approached my boss and it's all good. I have two interns sharing my workload while I'm out, I saved my vacation and sick time, and I am working remotely part time for about a month after I use up my 17 paid days off, then about 3 weeks of in office part time work before going back full time in January. Good luck!
@UnwritteN12 I did the dentist thing a week ago. Ugh! I need a tooth extracted as well but it already had root canal so no rush. They temporarily filled a cavity after they cleaned it a bit, but they wouldn't even X-ray me, they said it wasn't worth the risk and could wait till October. My OB said it was fine, but whatever. I feel your pain though!
@blondie080300 crossing my fingers that it all goes how you wanted- and so glad that it's all going so well!! I'll have to look into that iron supplement too- talking to my doctor next week when I go in to see if she wants me to take a supplement.
BHs- I don't think I've had them either- I feel tightening in my stomach and uterus sometimes but it feels more like the baby moving than anything, and isn't painful so much as it just feels tight and weird. And it's usually on my right side, where he loves to hang out.
My random- I'm going to my cousins wedding tomorrow and I'm secretly excited for the food (bring on cocktail hour appetizers!) and secretly dreading all the comments I'm sure to get, although I haven't gained too much weight at all, I'm right on track with what my doctor recommended so whatever. Up 17 pounds at 30 weeks- I'll take it. Of course, DH is also out fetching me a beautiful cheeseburger and fries lol.
Thanks @SarahDarah333 and enjoy all of the food tomorrow! Try not to expect there to be negative comments though. Hopefully everyone will just be so happy to see you and be thrilled that you are carrying your son!
And I forgot to mention that the weird dreams are back for me too now. They went away during the 2nd trimester for the most part...
Married: 3/21/15 First time mom to a human but have been a puppy mamma for over 12 years
Well almost passed out as they were drawing my blood and am measuring 3 weeks ahead... ETA: I also got the Tdap and it was so fun getting poked twice..
OMG. Someone broke into my house today. Nothing was moved or taken...none of my expensive jewelry, none of the un opened china or un opened baby gear. You might be thinking. how does she know that someone broke in then? WELL They POOPED in my toilet and clogged it. I was the last one to leave and the 1st one back and I used the restroom before I left so I know it wasn't just there from before.
I am so freaked out. I am so careful about locking the door but I forgot to today I have no idea who did this, my mom is guessing it was the landlord but I doubt it.
@Megan324 hahaha I'm sorry, I feel scared for you and hope the poop bandit doesn't come back, but that's just hilarious. Someone reaallllyyy had to go.
Are u sure it couldn't of came up when you flushed last?
Eek @megan324 I'm sorry to hear about someone breaking into you home. Despite the fact that nothing was taken or moved, i can understand you feeling violated.
That would freak me out! I'm glad they didn't take anything, I think if I was in that situation I could only imagine it would be someone I knew that thought I wouldn't mind if they just took a poop in my bathroom. So odd @Megan324
