Re: July Randoms Thread

  • @LakeR2014 it's not fun and my weight has been a touchy subject since I was a teenager but we get along great otherwise. I hate the pressure and even had an eating disorder when I was younger but DH always has my back and helps me feel better and not pay any mind to it now. I love that I can see he won't do the same to our little girl.

  • First massive Charlie horse in calf last night. Lovely way to wake up at 2am. Sleeping is getting harder but I feel lucky that is about the extent of my pregnancy issues! Happy July ladies... We are almost there!
  • I've started to notice a pattern of feeling generally yucky in the mornings. My limbs feel weak, my breathing is slightly labored, and my heartbeat is more noticeable (I'm not sure if it's irregular or I just notice it more) I don't start feeling better until 10 or later. It's really weird and I would like it to stop.

  • @Unwritten12 I hadn't heard about the events in Dallas...so scary and sad!  I ditto your sentiments in hopes that all of our TX ladies are nowhere near that mess!

@SLou24 So happy to hear your date and conversation with your Mom went well!  What a load of your shoulders, it sounds!!  :)

@Seitzy3 Keep us posted - I hope your midwife can give you so answers about the BH!  Especially with your DH being on the road for the next several weeks...I really hope this is not just another thing you have to worry about!

My random for the day - I planned to work from home in an attempt to make some much-needed progress without distraction.  Well...so much for that...  DD woke at 2am with a fever and was up for the day at 5:40am.  She's home from daycare and DH is off work with her.  On top of just being distracted with them here in general, whatever DD has isn't a "snuggle on the sofa and sleep a lot" bug...she pretty much has her usual energy and is all over the place but insanely cranky from whatever is ailing her.  So it's been a lot of crying and tantrums, banging on the office door because she knows I'm in here and wants to see me.  Oh, and the final repair to our fridge was completed this morning so we had a technician here for about two hours.  On top of that, we're supposed to leave to go camping first thing tomorrow morning.  Now, with DD's fever, we're probably not going but haven't decided 100% (her fever seems to have broken but it's too early to say whether it's because of the dose of Tylenol or if it's actually gone).  So I'm sitting here wondering if I should be packing and pulling out camping gear, etc.  So much for getting any work done today, haha...

  • I'm so freaking cranky today. I slept for maybe 30 mins at a time all night.
I'm helping my little brother today and he is getting on my last nerve. I picked him up to get blood work done and drove the 20 miles to the closest lab, we get there and he goes oh do you think I need my ID.
I wanted to smack him.  I specifically told him yesterday to put his ID with the lab slip.
so another 20 mins back to the house and back to the lab.
I know it's not that big of a deal but I'm so exhausted :(

@PSUBecky23 I think that's why we decided to have one more. cam is so easy going and she was an angel baby. Literally slept through the night by 2 months. I can only hope I get lucky again with the third. But my first sounds just likes yours. When people come over to watch her they ask me "she's not always like this right?" Nope wrong. ALWAYS

@JennM205 thanks! I am at the office now getting an NST to see if we can determine anything

  • My random....I'm hot...wahhhh!!! Like I've been hot since I woke up in my perfectly air conditioned house. While my daughter was at ballet, I ran to the grocery store and the walk from the car inside the store made me nauseous. I walked straight to the ice cream section and stood there with one of the doors opened. I feel like such a wimp these days.

  • @LizC216 my nephew's namny's daughter's name is Evie. I love it. It's also a common nickname for Evelyn or Eva.
  • @mrsvoorhees I was planning on putting them together in one crib for a while, but now I'm wondering if I would be better off having them in separate cribs from the get-go (we have both set up right next to each other).  My original thinking was that they're used to being together, so they would feel comforted being close, but now I've got that nagging idea that maybe they (B in particular) would like a little more space to themselves.

I'm overthinking all of this, I'm sure.  I seem to be in protective mother bear mode right now.

@AnnaS930 LOL!  That's good to know.

I guess I'm just afraid of B getting steamrolled by his brother, in and out of the womb.  I suppose it's a common worry for parents of twins, though; making sure they both get the attention and space they need.

@UnwritteN12 Hopefully there's no damage done by B being all cramped up where he is.  He seems comfortable enough, but it just looks so uncomfortable with him being bent at a 90 degree angle while his brother sprawled is out like he's on the beach.

That's so sweet that your two kiddos like to be together so much.  I guess maybe I shouldn't worry so much about crowding them.  We'll probably end up keeping them together until they can start to move around on their own (don't want them rolling over on each other) and then take it from there.

Sounds like you're a darn good mama already, thinking of your boys and what's best for them. My sister and husband always say that at least with their twins, they were born with each other and always used to having another kid around. As we prepare Emmett for rocking his world with a little sibling, his kiddos are like "Doesn't everyone have a brother or sister?"  They really entertained each other quite while they were little, and now at 4 - they're wild and wonderful and have the most endearing moments (reading to each other.. have sleepovers like Unwritten mentioned.. it's the best)

I'm glad you're all with me on my viewpoint on this! A creepy TSA guy at the airport was smiling at a little girl and kept calling her "princess" and asked her to smile back at him. Her parents patted her shoulder and said, "Smile back at the man!" I was soo uncomfortable watching it!
There is a fine line between teaching your child social norms (like returning a smile) and demonstrating that you should forego your will to please a stranger.

Particularly bothersome to to me is when parents tell their children to give people hugs and kisses. I always make sure to ask "Can I have a kiss?" Or "Do you want to give grandma a hug?" Etc. changing the phrasing slightly makes a big difference

    @AnnaS930 Thank you! :love:

I'm so happy that they're going to have each other from the very beginning.  I love the idea of it being their "normal" to have each other.

My brother and I are 9 years apart and we got along wonderfully growing up (luckily, he really wanted a sibling, especially a baby sister for some reason, so what could have been a horribly awkward and difficult situation when my parents had an "oopsie" with me was easy), although we grew apart fast when he left for college when I was 8 or 9 (he's lived across the country since then).  We both sort of grew up as only children in our own ways, which was weird.

  • @JennM205 - quesiton how do you pronounce the nickname Evie? Do you use the short E so it's like Ehv-y (like ever, but with a y instead of the 'er') or do you use a longer e like eve with a y? If this one is a girl, her name will be Evelyn, but I'm thinking just Ev for a nickname, but DH wants evie, but I don't like the typical pronunciation of that (eve-ie).

Regarding names.... We are 90% on the name Jensen for our boy. there's nothing else filling the 10%, and the 90% gets a little higher each week. It's probably what we will go with since we don't have any other names we both like!
This is how we feel about our girls name: Nina. It wasn't love at first sight, but nothing else has come along and sounded any better.

We have a list of a few boys names (Nico, Milo, and Rocco) that are all similar so it's hard to go there.

Milo is cute, too, but I always associate it with The Adventures of Milo and Otis and a cat my MIL had (she got the name from the movie).

  • I'm so confused. My Midwife was out of office but a nurse and other midwife said I was definitely contracting. But they aren't doing anything further because the contractions aren't strong and long enough right now. But baby girls heart rate was going from 180 to 130 in seconds which was setting of the NST alarm, which in turn freaked me out.  They said she is acting normal in there but if I continue to have contractions then check myself into the hospital this weekend. I told them the contractions are worse when I am up and moving and fine when i am laying  down, so I didn't think the nst would show anything at all.

They suggested i keep my feet up and drink water and limited my standing for the weekend. Come on ya'll, I have a 3 and 1 year old. Grr

@AlwaysAuntNeverMom glad to hear your turned out fine! Better safe than sorry!

My random: I was seen this morning by the on call OB(I had an appt schedule for a routine visit with my regular OB, but he cancelled bc he's sick) for intense BH and (TMI warning) diarrhea. The OB wanted to have me do a nst and her nurse gave me some grape juice to drink since LO wasn't very active. After drinking 2/3rd of the juice I noticed the expiration date...12/28/14!!!! :s. Thankfully nst came back fine and they let me come back to work, but really?! How do you have almost 2 year old juice in your fridge! This weekend could get fun. Especially since I'm hosting a baby shower at my house for my best friend this weekend.

    ETA: bc words are hard
  • @seitzy3 How scary!  I hope everything ends up being fine and that baby hangs in there a while longer!

  • All this talk about names and I just posted a long rant about our baby's name in the in-law thread. Our baby's name will not be announced (well, other than you ladies haha. Most of you know his name is Finley) until birth so WHY can't people be satisfied with that answer and proceed to attempt to guilt trip/pry it out of us? GEEZ you would think this kid is the next king of the world.

@AlwaysAuntNeverMom Don't feel guilty, ever!  I did that a few weeks ago.  As soon as I got hooked up and the monitor started sounding, my baby went nuts (it always reacts this way to the sonographer noise), and I felt horrible for coming in.  She looked me dead in the eye and said 'Never feel bad for coming here because you can't feel the baby kick.  ALWAYS come in.   I'd rather you come in a 100 times then wait too long.'   *TW* She then mentioned that there was a woman a few rooms over, who came in a similar thing and they weren't finding the heartbeat.   So she re-itereated again,  Always come in - it's what they're there for.
  • @AlwaysAuntNeverMom Glad everything is okay!
