Sitting at a local park, listening to live music and waiting for fireworks to start... DH and DD are playing on the playground and I'm chilling on the blanket while baby does somersaults in my belly.
I distinctly remember sitting at this same park last year before fireworks thinking to myself that, as long as things went as we hoped, I'd be pregnant by this time this year...and here we are. I feel so fortunate in so many ways.
Count me as one of the ladies that was super shocked to see the birth announcements post, I actually backed out of my browser because I thought I had gone to the wrong birth month somehow. It has made me realize that I am having a baby NEXT MONTH! I'm over this pregnancy but man that is weird to say! Next month....
I'm about to throw something at DH. He's home early today and I never realized how much I enjoy my alone time until he decided to call the credit card company about some charge on SPEAKER while I napped. WTF DH how can you be so oblivious to your sleeping pregnant wife on the couch?!?! Rawr!!!! I didn't even know what to say I was/am fuming and am currently giving him the silent treatment. I'm mature.
I suggest a banana - i have thrown no less than 2 bananas at DH this week.
Maybe he needs to stop irritating me when im eating my morning banana!
@MojieJo is your doc requiring both babies to be head down for a vaginal birth? Mine prefers A head down but will deliver if butt first, which I've read is uncommon, most docs won't deliver a breech A. He said the position of B doesn't matter but he prefers a breech B because they are easier to control.
@mamadomino I was originally told that as long as Baby A was head down, I'd be given the option of having a vaginal delivery and chancing needing a C-section for the second baby if he didn't turn into position after A is delivered, but one of my three rotating OB's is stubborn and doesn't want to do that, so I'm going to have to fight him if B is anything other than head down at 34-ish weeks and I have an appointment with him between then and their birth.
The other two doctors are fine with me going with the original plan of trying for a vaginal birth with both, assuming A stays head down, as far as I know. It's just the one doctor that I don't care for who's being a pain about it. He's very stubborn and won't budge on damn near anything (I always dread seeing him) from antibiotics for a sinus infection (refuses to prescribe them since apparently all sinus infections are actually viral and people asking for antibiotics are all idiots who think they have a bacterial infection when they don't) to this whole delivery thing. He's a blast.
@blondie080300 I was told that many women have low lying placenta early on but that the majority of the time, the placenta has moved out of the way by laboring time. They discovered my LLP at our 18 week u/s and told me we'd have to do another one at 34 weeks to check. At first I was really upset because I'm using a birth clinic and if my placenta stays low, I'll risk out and have to go to a hospital.
I relayed my concerns to the nurse and she said that they very very rarely had women whose placenta didn't move by the 34 week u/s.
Since your placenta has already moved up and your current OB only wants it to move a little more, I'd go ahead and talk to the midwives. Tell them what's going on. They may take you on with the understanding that you won't be able to use them if your placenta doesn't move by your next u/s. If that's the case, then you should still be able to use your regular doctor and a planned C-section will be set up.
Basically - I don't see any harm in you talking to the midwives at this point! Go for it. Tell them your concerns and see where it goes.
My Random: I'm so flipping cranky. I got cranky on Thursday night, right before DH got home. For no reason. I was just upset at nothing. DH coming home from work helped a lot and I felt better. Yesterday was fine. I was in a great mood. Pest Control came to fumigate the house at 7am, gave us a GREAT outlook about the spider situation, and then we left for my parent's house for the weekend. The 3.5 drive was even nice! All good!
Then this morning, I wake up because the dogs need to go out. I feel FINE! I'm not sleepy, I'm not exhausted, I feel good. Before I can even get to the bedroom door after getting out of bed I am P**SED! At nothing! Absolutely nothing. I'm just mad for no reason. And here I am 2.5 hours later, still cranky for no reason and trying to avoid all interaction so I don't accidentally snap at someone. These are the times when I wish it was safe to have a beer or glass of wine while pregnant... and socially acceptable to do it at 8:30am in the morning.
@618mom22boys I am so sorry to hear this. Thoughts and prayers your and her way.
@MrsVoorhees Ugh, me too!!! I was born missing a tooth, unfortunately front lower, so went through a failed implant, bone grafts, gum grafts, and the works! This after braces. Now I just have a dental bridge and literally cannot bite straight into fruit any longer. So worth it though!
@Megan324 Strange, but definitely not a bad thing!! Is there something you can add that you have already purchased so that you can get your money back?
@AmMcc12 You must post a pic in the maternity pics thread!
Ugh. Spent the night at the hospital with my 18 month old last night. She fell and hit her head in the yard playing with our dog. After she got up she kept falling down when she tried to walk... On the same side every 3-4 steps. My first thought was omg she hit her head so hard she is having neuro issues. So of course I drag her to the ER at 8:30pm to get checked out. Probably overkill but I couldn't live with the guilt of something was actually wrong. After a 3 hour wait (grr) they falling turned into a limp, then she seemed fine. I felt bad for dragging her in there and keeping her up till midnight, but the doc said we definitely did the right thing even though it worked itself out. Said she could have popped her hip or knee when she fell and then it just took some time to loosen up. I'm so glad she is okay, but it was definitely scary for a while! All the snuggles and coffe today!
@beachmama14 oh no, so scary! So glad she is okay. I wouldn't want to mess around with head injuries either, sounds like you def did the right thing. Get some rest!
I'm bored out of my gourd. I went grocery shopping. I bought new couches. I went to lunch I cleaned the house. Now I'm just driving around trying to find something to do until FI gets home. ugh all of my friends are out of town this weekend. I can't wait till the baby gets here so I can have someone to hang out with lolololol
My random: just tried to have sex for first time in a few weeks (and last time was first time in a month probably)
1) it wouldn't go in. Like I'm always a bit tight but this was like I couldn't even find the hole. 2) how the eff does anyone find it comfortable in third trimester?!? We tried so many things and I kept cramping up. Afterwards, I told DH I was gunna Google positions to do in 3rd tri and he told me to look up "pregnant porn" to see the positions in action haha. I did, and there's some weird stuff out there!
@RG1 LOL that's soo funny. But also same same I was cramping up terrible last night and I swear every 5 mins I would stay "stop we gotta move I'm not comfortable" Super sexy right?
@RG1 Thanks for the laugh! We are finding we need to be more creative these days too, sex-wise.
I am sitting at the Impact / Revolution soccer match tonight and all I can think about it how I want all the food!! Totally want the nachos, pizza and mini donuts and am sad I can't have a beer.
DH is spending the night at SIL's after helping them put the deck on their house. SIL just sent me a video of him rocking and singing to their one month old. What song you ask? A modified version of Get Low. He's a weirdo but he's going to be a great daddy.
@RG1 - yep sex is uncomfortable right now! Our normal positions just don't work the same. We use a lot of foreplay so I don't have to move as much!!
My random- I cannot stop working on things. I had goals to get done today and I finished them and then I just keep trying to find the next thing to do. I am the worst at relaxing!!

@AnnaS930 A little late to the game but even with my son having higher percentiles for weight/height I obsess over everything he eats. Today until dinner he had a few bites of eggs, a few bites of a soft pretzel, and a yogurt. After his illness which caused him to drop in weight and lose his appetite for quite some time, I'm so worried that if he has an off day it's an indication something's wrong. I'm sure everything's ok, but it's hard not to obsess over it. Moms will always worry about their babies regardless Don't beat yourself up about it!
Anyone shooting off fireworks does not have a toddler that's a crappy sleeper. I swear if someone wakes my kid up I'm taking him straight there and they can deal with him.
As we were getting ready this morning, I jokingly complained to DH about my baloney nipples. He was confused so I pointed out how huge my areolas have gotten. He said, "Oh, that's not that different. Your actual nipples, though, are like the ends of hot dogs!" Lololol
@blondie080300 this might have already been said but I'd at least meet with the midwives. They might have a different opinion about whether or not you should be able to attempt a vaginally birth based on your placenta placement.
Anyone shooting off fireworks does not have a toddler that's a crappy sleeper. I swear if someone wakes my kid up I'm taking him straight there and they can deal with him.
There's a certain time for fireworks and they should be over before 10pm. Last night people in my town were going until almost midnight. So rude!
Update in the continuing saga of the Painters from Hell: Yesterday they didn't show up and didn't tell the company they work for that they weren't coming, but gave their reason as "we weren't going to be ready for them." Spoiler: we were.
Today rolls around and they show up and finish the dining room and kitchen, but don't touch the master bathroom or anything else they were intending to do. Whatever, at least they did a neat job with the kitchen and didn't get more paint on the floors.
Also, the guy who was supposed to see about getting the paint out of the nursery carpet (the painters' supervisor) didn't show. DH texts him and he's out of town (and apparently wasn't going to tell DH that he wasn't coming after all) and will come tomorrow. So they'll be back tomorrow (supposedly) to try to fix the carpet--meanwhile, we found another purple spot in the nursery--and then on Tuesday to pick up painting again.
On the plus side, we put together 98% of the nursery furniture and got it all set up! The cribs, dresser, glider and ottomon are assembled and in place, the mattresses and dust ruffles are on the cribs, the changing pad is in the topper on the dresser and the nightstand and a handful of toys are in place. Still some work to do, but it's a functional nursery now and it feels real. I sat in the glider and rocked for about half an hour, which the babies seemed to enjoy.
On the down side, the purple accent wall was apparently dry to the touch (it was finished Wednesday) but was still delicate and there's now a "pulled" spot (latex paint, so it sort of stretches instead of scuffing) behind one crib that they're going to have to fix from where DH gently leaned one crib headboard against the wall while putting furniture together. Shouldn't be a huge deal, especially since my mom accidentally scuffed the ivory paint in the living room and they fixed that (although that was just a dark scuff on the paint, not a stretch/tear/pull that's going to leave a weird textured spot).
@Megan324 I know. I swear, it's like I'm stuck in some sort of hamster wheel. We get one thing sorted out and something else happens. At this point, I fully expect anything and everything possible to go wrong before this whole thing is over.
On the plus side, I'm taking a more zen approach at the moment. I've gotten so fed up that I've reached a weird calm place. Still not happy, but I think my brain has short circuited, which is a sort of blessing in disguise.
@megan324 Thanks! I'm hoping it'll all be over soon, too. I need some time to relax and enjoy the rest of my pregnancy before my boys get here and all hell breaks loose all over again.
4am and my kid barges into my room, announces she has a booboo and then refuses to move. Guess I'm awake for the day. Have I mentioned how much I love threenagerhood?

I don't have kids but I 100% agree! I have a dog who is very afraid. 2 weeks ago a drunk neighbor decided to shot fireworks every 30 minutes from 12-2am!!! I almost killed him.
