My kid is ready to parrtttttayyyyyy

Up at 4:15 this morning. Only lil cat naps here and there today. After all the activity today and stimulation I would think she's ready to pass the eff out. Nope. She's still going. Besides the 50 minute nap on the train and a few snoozes here and there, she's been up for almost 16 hours!!!

We are having the exact same day. I thought he would be down for the count tonight after no log naps today, but no, he is wide awake. Meanwhile, mom and dad are soooooooo tired....

Random rant: I'm already annoyed with the fact that DS goes by his middle name. It's a compromise I made with DH so that we could use his family name. I've already had to correct people several times, and I know he's going to have to do that the rest of his life. I'm sorry, kid. You can blame your dad for that one.
Heh! We just go by a shortened version of LO's name since her legal name is a mouthful. It's DH's mother's, grandmother's, and great-grandmother's name. When I told my MIL we were naming LO after her she said, "Why? My name is so hard!" (she goes by the same shortened version as our daughter) DH insisted. Not a southern tradition, but an Italian tradition here. I'm like ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
My dad was really upset that I wouldn't give either of my girls the middle name Gaetana. His is Gaetano and has apparently been a name in our family for generations. Sorry, but nope! And why do the family names have to be the most difficult/out-there? Crazy Italians ;)

My guy did the same thing! He slept for his 30 minute morning nap and then about an hour at target and since then it's been little 20 minute cat naps here and there- not the three hour stretch I get at 1:30 and the six hour one I get at 10:30.
    guess it's Wide Awake Wednesday!

I've mentioned that I still have a lot of pains, especially in my feet, that was I was attributing to pregnancy. Well I think I have plantar fisciitus. It's gotten really bad this week and I think it's time to see a doctor. Anyone have this in the last? If so any tips to relieve the pain and maybe avoid a dr trip??

adding that dh has it too. At 3:00am when we got up to check on Harper, and we both were limping along I joked maybe we can get bogo free dr appts! We are a mess !

  • @yogahh have you tried foam rolling your feet with a pressure ball? I was thinking about going for reflexology because my arches ache. But I think it's from wearing unsupportive but cute shoes. What you are describing happened to my friend after her first pregnancy. She wore gel soles and really good sneakers and it eventually went away. Hope you feel better!

I haven't slept past 7:00 am in years but that sure beats the 5:00 am wake up!

  • This week sucks. Week 6 week 7. Hell I don't know what week it is but Elle JS always screaming. It's painful. The only positive is she then slept 7.5 hours last night.

LO is 5 weeks old and has had exactly one night where she slept for a five hour stretch. I have no idea what I did that day/evening to cause her to zonk out like that, but I'd do anything to make it happen again! :disappointed:
  • Onesie extenders FTW! Munchkin went through a massive growth spurt and while all of her outfits fit width wise with some room to grow; length was getting short. So glad I bought them or a ton of cute clothes would have had to be prematurely stored away!
  • The way babies know what they want is crazy. This baby needs white noise and a mam pacifier thank you very much. The wubbanub will just not suffice!

Ezra was struggling to fall asleep last night so DH says "I learned a trick last night! I'll show you" and puts Ezra belly to belly, jiggling him slowly and patting him on the butt.
yeah...I've been doing that new trick since like week one...

    Kinda like this?
Exactly like this. My 70 year old dad got here last night and bless his heart...DD wants to be held and walked/bounced around and he tried so so hard to walk and bounce her to help me out and wound up trying to take a few sitting breaks and shed start shreaking. He was pretty sad. I told him and even showed him that she does the same exact thing to me and told him "this is how I've lost 47 lbs in 8 weeks".
    .
  • I'm still keeping track of feedings with my bf app-LO is now six weeks old. Are you still keeping track of the feedings? If no, when did you stop? Or when do you plan to stop?

I don't any more. I stopped soon after her one month appointment when I knew she was gaining without concern. And also because I got lazy

Once DS got back to birth weight, I stopped and fed on demand. At his 1 month, he was already in the 90% percentile. I actually never kept track. DS is really on-the-dot most of the time. He's 8 weeks.

    UGHHH stuck in a box!

The Bump has been deleting all my responses. I still track everything at 8 weeks. I'm Type A, it helps me see her patterns and keeps my mind organized!

I'm still tracking. She gained back her birth weight super fast plus some, but the weight she's gained since is on the lower end of the cdc chart. I'm interested in her 2 month appointment in a week to make sure she's on the up and up. And honestly, it helps me keep track of how many times I've fed her. Interesting that others have stopped. I'm going to talk to my pediatrician next week more about if I need to wake her up from naps to keep up the 8 times a day feed.
  • I'm still tracking feedings. hes gaining well but I like seeing the patterns especially for MOTN feedings

So sorry that happened!! :/ DH feels like that when he comes home every day to a clingy witching hour baby.
  • Worn that bae for the first time today and loved it!!! I was worried I would never be able to attach her by myself. But it was so easy!  But now question. I wear a cross body diaper bag, how do you carry a diaper bag while wearing like at the mall?

Do your straps adjust? I usually just use it as a shoulder bag when I'm baby wearing.
  • @Osnabel I never kept track - except when we were in the hospital and they asked us too. My baby has no problem telling us when she's hungry though, and always had a good amount of wet/dirty diapers and only lost 5% of her weight and gained it back quickly, so I didn't feel like there was anything to worry about. Also I'm so tired all the time, keeping track of feedings just felt like one more thing to do and I felt like it would stress me out.

Yes they adjust. It's just a pretty big diaper bag so it would be a lot to carry as a shoulder bag. I guess I will just need to down grade to a small bag with just the must need  items!

I tighten the cross body strap so it sits on my back. I basically look like a turtle :)

I bought a dad gear backpack diaper bag for this purpose. It has taken a beating over the years, been all over the country, hiking too, and still looks brand new and works great.
  • I'm tracking everything but I tracked for DS1 until this baby was born and he turned 2 in March, so I'm a little overboard. I felt like tracking and the data it provided gave me such good insight into his patterns that it enabled me to be a better mom. I could anticipate things and that gave me confidence as a FTM, but for some of my friends tracking just gave them anxiety so to each their own!

You guys just reminded me I need to start tracking again so I know how much food to send her to DC with.

6 weeks here as well, and I'm still keeping track. I like knowing how long it's been since he ate and which boob he ate from last. I'll probably keep doing it until I go back to work (when he's 8 weeks), so it can help give me an idea of when/how much he'll eat at daycare.

  • Thank you, I also might continue tracking as I like to see her feeding patterns. Actually I'm a bit obsessed with it-even if I don't have my phone with me when I bf, I need to put it in later. I like it though, it gives me the feeling to be organised, even though I'm feeding on demand :)
