I really don't wanna be at work today. I'm so so sleepy, even though I slept a good 9 hours last night! Exhausted from the weekend. Because it was father's day yesterday and we were having a special dinner, and I had bought ingredients for it.... and my 8 year old stepdaughter asked me 19,243 times to make it... i fired up the oven (even though it was a million degrees outside) and made chocolate lava cake. I need a medal...or a day off today.
I don't want to be at work either. We had a really great weekend and I hated to see it go. Our anatomy scan was Friday (finally!) so I was on cloud nine from seeing our little lady. Then Saturday, I cooked a big breakfast for DH and myself and we ate it in bed. I love mornings like that and I know they'll be all but extinct come October, so we savored every minute of it. Then we power washed the entire house. Even though it was balls hot and I cut my foot open with the power washer, I had a blast. My favorite thing in the world is to "get shit done with my husband." I don't care what it is; the combination of marking things off a to-do list and getting to spend time with the man I love is like a natural high to me. Yesterday, I cooked a big dinner for my parents and DH to celebrate Father's Day. I love to cook for my loved ones, so that was awesome...
...And now I'm sitting at work, bored as shit, just dreaming about the great weekend we had. Uggghhhh. Why must we work for living?!?
I got my diaper bag!!! I'm so happy, and now all I want to do is go shopping for stuff to put in it. I even looked up youtube videos on how other people pack this exact bag for ideas on stuff.
@CopperBoom86, we've had my stepkids for 2 weekends in a row, and I'm so excited that for next weekend, I'm gonna get to sleep in, and do just what you did: breakfast in bed. That sounds soooo nice.
@CopperBoom86 Sorry about your foot! Yor weekend sounds lovely though, I also enjoy getting shit done with FI, spending the time is fun because it's kind of like a game to us, and then the feeling of accomplishment afterwards always makes for a good evening! We had a decent sized little cookout for my Grandpa, FI, brothers, and BIL and everybody brought a dish or two. I am feeling a bit smug because my sides were the first to be eaten up, and the ones everybody was disappointed about being gone Most importantly, it was nice to see all the daddies feeling special and loved and getting to see everybody together.
Anyone else feel like they deserve a medal when you leave the grocery store with great deals? I got proteins for SIX MEALS (for 2 people, so really 12 meals!) for 18.00. That's a buck fifty per person per meal! AND that's with a splurge on these really good lookin' chops... I love a good chop. I FEEL LIKE A GODDAMN DOMESTIC GODDESS!
I wish I could figure out extreme couponing, but I feel like that would turn into an obsession reeeeeal fast.
I survived my sons 2nd birthday party at my house, having a house guest all weekend, and fathers day. Its so quiet here today now that it's just me and DS and I've not gotten off the couch once during nap time.
@CopperBoom86 I totally agree on the getting stuff done with H thing. I love running errands with my Husband. One of the ways I knew he was "the one" was early on when I thought "I love going to target to buy a trash can with this guy!" lol.

I just fell asleep in my chair at work...and only woke up cuz I heard myself snoring. Thank goodness no one saw me! (at least I don't think they did...)
I'm with the ladies that dreaded work this morning. I only open two days a week, but it's REALLY hard to get up those mornings since I don't sleep well. Baby let me sleep pretty good last night, so of course I wanted to stay in bed and rest more. Had to cave and get a coffee this morning.
We got Applebee's Carside To Go for dinner. I wanted a burger so I got the one with the fried egg on it. It sounded sooooo good. Halfway through I remembered I'm not supposed to eat runny eggs. It wasn't even good, so it definitely wasn't worth it.
@Julia70286 I feel the same way! Lately in the name of budgeting I've been making a meal plan for all of our meals and snacks throughout the week, mostly using things we already have in the freezer/pantry. Then I make a grocery list based on that plan. Previously during shopping trips I would wander every aisle and grab things that looked good or "stock up" on things we don't really need. Every time I stick to that list exactly I feel like I deserve a medal! And I try to be conscientious about price without sacrificing quality. I use coupons if I can, but that can be dangerous for me because it gives me the idea to buy things I don't need (probably the point).
Found a CPR certification class for DH and I to take for only $10 each! The Red Cross classes are $110 each if you want the full spectrum (infant to adult). Whoop whoop! I'll keep my extra $200... thank you very much!
@bnsmith85 That's awesome! I get certified for work for infant - adult but DH wants to take a class at the hospital.
My mom took me shopping this weekend and bought me some clothes because I literally had 1 pair of shorts, 2 shirts, and a dress that fit me right. She got me 5 dresses, 2 tshirts, and a tank top for $150. Plus Motherhood was having a promotion that if you spent $125 or more you get $50 Bump bucks for a later time. So now I have a shopping cart stocked for the beginning of July with 4 bras, 5 pairs of underwear and a robe so that I can get all that for about $80 or so. SCORE!
I might not have anything done for the nursery, but at least my child isn't going to have to go around naked. Y'all, I just couldn't help it. Mud Pie convertible gown.
You guys, I think we may have FINALLY found the daycare! It's the ONE! We did a tour, and loved the home daycare facility, loved the lady who runs it, the caregivers strictly only speak French to the kids (omg, is that going to confuse my kid?)----but more importantly THERE'S A SPOT AVAILABLE FOR JANUARY!!!!!!
damn it... my little dog just got hold of the baby bird that jumped from a nest yesterday but wasn't quite ready to fly. DH played into mine and my friend/neighbor's crazy request yesterday and relocated him to my veggie garden because it's fenced in so the dogs couldn't get to him and gets shade from the plants in there. I guess he got out into the main part of the yard poor bird
Everyday I decide I'm going to go the whole day without sweets. And, every. single. day. I eat dessert of some sort. Candy, ice cream, a milkshake, a donut, you name it. I don't think someone has ever had less will power than me.
@bnsmith85 - Ugh, I hate that. We have a dachshund, so we come home to those kind of surprises all the time. I wish you could train them not to, but it's just in their nature. Oh well.
@bnsmith85 Don't worry, I had a cookie after lunch yesterday. I mean, I guess at least I ate lunch first...? Then I had dinner, followed by a milkshake. I CAN'T BE STOPPED.

This. is. my. life.
Literally, every night I decide "this is the last dessert for at least a week." Never sticks. Ugh. I'm going to fail my glucose test; I just know it!
Congrats on the daycare! That's awesome. We toured and picked ours last week and I was super excited to learn they teach the babies sign language. I'm going to have to learn what the heck my kid is saying to me!
My H brought home M&M Sugar cookie ice cream sandwiches because he hates me and wants me to gain 450 lbs. Needless to say, I have not been skipping the sweets because they're in the freezer, mocking me.

I can't stop with the desserts either. Dessert after breakfast, dessert after lunch, dessert after dinner.... I hated sweets before I got pregnant so here's to making up for lost time. Hope I don't fail my glucose test!
@F47@bnsmith85@CopperBoom86 At least you guys TRY, I have had cake for breakfast more than a few times, and incorporate something sugary either into my meals, they ARE my meals, or they follow shortly after everyday. I feel bad about it sometimes, and although I really don't want to pack on the pounds, I just can't keep my hands off the sweets.
I feel you girls on the sweets. Doesn't help that my grocery store had ice cream sandwiches buy 2 get one free, which means my freezer is full of treats. I had a good weight in at dr appt today (gained 3 last month but baby jumped from 14 oz to one pound 14 oz so only two of that is going to me, first month gaining below five in awhile) Instead of keeping up the good work, I had a Waffle House waffle with butter and syrup and hash browns covered, diced, capped, and peppered to celebrate. The day after dr appointment I always binge. Then, I had a chicken gyro for lunch and banana with peanut butter for snack. Needless to say, I've probably gained my entire allotment for next month today.
I'm right there with y'all on the dessert train. @CopperBoom86 we're not going to fail!!! Haha
I expressed my fear of the GD test at my last appointment, my doctor was like youll take the test and not have it and have a baby before you know it! Thanks for the confidence, AND good thing I wouldn't sue her for basically assuring me I don't have it if I do.

I know what you mean! I was telling SO, "we are going to need to learn French! how will we know what he's saying?" lol. Isn't it such a relief to have a daycare picked out?
Today I ate a Pick Up, a Twix, a liter of apple juice and half a pint of Ben & Jerry's. This may or may not be normal... Do they have sugerholics anonymous?!
I feel nauseated every time I eat anything sugary, but does that stop me? Nope. Just had half a serving of Ben & Jerry's Mint Chocolate Cookie ice cream (which I made my husband drive to four stores to find this weekend) and now I feel ill. But I'll still probably have another half serving after dinner tonight.
@ibabyloveb87 My OB told me you either have it or you don't; there's really no way to prepare for it.
My friend who had her baby at the end of May (the one who protested my request for hibachi on my birthday), was diagnosed with GD. She's one of the healthiest people I know. She doesn't drink anything but water, she hardly ever eats sweets, she always gets salads when we go out to dinner, she grows and eats her own fruits and vegetables, she's been a tiny little thing all her life- probably a size 2 or 4... Basically I feel like if she had it, I'll have it FOR SURE.
I asked my OB about GD because I'm worried too. She said there is absolutely no control over it, it all has to do with hormones produced by the placenta. A health nut who never eats sugar could get it while a junk food addict could pass with flying colors. She said you have a higher chance the older you get and if your mother had it while pregnant. Who knows, mine is in a month and I'm not looking forward to it but I'm not gonna deprive myself of the occasional cookie in the mean time.
