I have a love/hate relationship with my snoogle @Blonde1817. I hate that it acts as a barrier between SO and I. I don't like that... but I have to say it helps with my back pain. So I alternate between just regular pillows and the snoogle when I want a really nice long deep sleep.
@mrszoess, where did our deals and steals thread go? We must make an official one! Yesterday, ASOS maternity was having a 50% off sale! I snagged a bunch of dresses and skirts!
@Blonde1817 I bought my Snoogle pretty early on (just the C shaped one not the horseshoe one) and i loved it at first. Then I LOATHED it. I always threw it in the floor because it felt bulky and hot and I just used a pillow between my knees. Now I fee like I need more support. I am back in love with it now. It still gets kind of hot and I have to wrestle it to get up to use the bathroom three times a night. But, I sleep so much better.
@emmaaa That's the other reason I hated my pregnancy pillow. Climbing in and out of it is a pain! And I would always have to pee right when I got comfortable again. Now I'm peeing about 6 times a night and just wrestling with the little pillow between my knees is enough of a pain.
every single one of you looking for second hand stuff not only needs offer up but also Letgo. I find better stuff on there, maybe because they advertise? Get yourselves on tons of local facebook garage sale sites too. and local 'moms on a budget' groups.
my husbands cousin is due 3 weeks after me and she showed me her garage sale stockpile last weekend. somehow there are 3 really nice strollers she got for like nothing. its like a game to find dirt cheap stuff lol
@bnsmith85 I've got horrible acid reflux, too! I've been told Zantac is safe, but haven't tried it yet. Just been chewing Tums like they're going out of style.
@Blonde1817 Not gonna lie, buuuut totally loved my Snoogle! My husband did, too. It really seemed to take some weight off certain pressure points and helped me sleep as comfortably as I could with a watermelon in my stomach. I don't have room on our bed now for it, but I thought it was worth it for my first pregnancy for sure!
Ugh. My husband was so kind and booked a couples massage for us today. Prenatal for me, and deep tissue for him. In the process of getting undressed for the massage, I was stung by a huge ass bee in my shoulder. WTF!!!??? It was a new massage place we went to, and it looked really clean, so the bee could have flown in from outside. I was so caught of guard and there was no way I could relax for the massage after that, so we ended up rescheduling.
The sting is swelling, but not too bad. I'll take some benadryl and put ice on it later this evening. I read that it won't affect Peanut since I'm not allergic to bee stings. Does anyone else have experience with this? I'm still very on edge about this whole thing.
ETA just called my doctor and left a message with the nurse on call. Figure I'll double check that nothing else is needed. Just waiting for a call back!
@rozANDbenSINCE2001 ... you have to try Zantac. 1. it works so much better; 2. Ovia has Zantac in gray and has Tums in yellow on the medication look up. I'm not sure how accurate that is since every pregnant woman I know takes Tums (including myself) and it's fine... but it made me feel better about taking the Zantac to see that it wasn't a warning med at all lol
I take a zantac at night before bed and tums all day. it works so well. I usually don't get heartburn again until lunch time. anddddd Costco has their brand for dirt cheap!
SO and I moved up the wedding ceremony to Friday evening, at the beach. It's just going to be the two of us + minister + photographer. It doesn't get dark till 830PM, and so we figured it would be nice to do a sunset wedding on Friday instead of Saturday morning (for lighting for pics, and for the heat factor).
We talked last night and he said we'd just go out to eat after...
But I think I want to surprise him with a beach picnic. Something like this:
I actually have a blanket like that.... and I wanna bring yellow throw pillows from home, and another blanket for warmth.... but what else? Am I missing something? I think i'll bring a breakfast tray so we have surface to put stuff on and order a picnic basket with food from one of the local places in SD that does them beautifully (with free basket!)
I'll need something for light.... but I don't have any of those lanterns.
I also wanted to bring our low beach chairs, for comfort...but would that ruin the whole set up? Should I just throw some throws on them and make them blend in?
I'm thinking it'll be perfect too, since our photographer is arriving 30 minutes before the ceremony starts, so she can get pics of us...and I think this would be a pretty backdrop.
@annabenanna... love this idea! I'd bring the chairs just in case. You can always have them off to the side so they don't ruin the look if you don't need them. Definitely get a lantern. I'd also get some NA champagne so you can toast the evening! Also, maybe see if you can get a friend to swing by and clean up for you so you're not hurting the mood because of clean up after.
@annabenanna ! It's so great! We went for a picnic the other day for my birthday because we're trying to save $$, but it was actually so nice and pleasant that we're going to do it again this weekend. This table --> https://www.crateandbarrel.com/table-in-a-bag/s670848 is AWESOME for picnicking, beaching, everything. I bring it all the places. It even comes with a carrying bag that you can sling over your shoulder. The legs come off and everything rolls up.
@bnsmith85 good point on the chairs, I'll bring them just in case! And I LOVE the idea of having a friend clean up after. LOL. Now I have to run to Ross during my lunch and see if they have a lantern! I want a big one! I also was thinking of those LED fake candles that flicker. Wouldn't that be pretty?
@SpaceBurger , oh girl, I'd do that table in a bag....but I only have 2 days... were talking about THIS friday. LOL. Let me see if Amazon Prime has it!
@annabenanna Do you have any mason jars or vases laying around the house? You could totally get a pack of those battery powered fake candles that flicker and throw them in mismatched jars/vases, etc. and it would save $$ and fit the vibe. Love this idea!

@MRSCORKER, I love that idea!!! I was actually thinking about the battery powered LED candles, but you just upped the ante by putting them in mason jars! I think I may have a few laying around the house! Thank you!
@annabenanna LOVE that idea! I second the idea about the chairs and either putting throws over them or just stashing aside. If you can't find a lantern you like, you could always just do mason jars with those little fake candles.
@annabenanna That looks amazing! As @bnsmith85 said, I'd definitely have the chairs. You can just move them out of the way for some or most of the photos but you'll also have them if you need them. Can you bring candles for lighting? Maybe in mason jars? Or paper bag lanterns with LED lights inside?
@annabenanna SUCH a good idea!! And definitely go with the chairs with throws on them. So much more comfortable to sit in while preggo - especially having something to lean back on! And don't forget the bug spray, just in case!! Can't wait to see pictures!
Donuts were just delivered from a new place downtown. They are literally the size of my face. Nutella, strawberry, Boston cream pie, strawberry. Oh. My. Gawd.
@nlane0723 I didn't think beautiful foods like that existed in real life to be eaten... I thought they could only be found in photographs just to tease people
Hehehehehe. You ladies have no idea how many times I get the text: "Anna I need your creative brain... what should I do for....." @AllyTheKid@nlane0723 . Sometimes I feel like I do it more for me to see a plan executed... rather than for the person I'm doing it for. Hahahaha.
that moment when you are super excited to show DH the breathing/movement monitor you found and added to the registry because it's so much better than the one you both had talked about before... and you're showing him the video of all the features but he literally won't stop interrupting to judge it....
he's wrong... that thing is wonderful.... we're registering for it. End of story.
LOL @bnsmith85! SO can be like that too...so judgy about gadgets. Which kind did you register for? I'm seeing three on the market right now: the owlet, the snuza (which is what we registered for) and the monbaby (which is what SO thinks we should get)

We registered for both the owlet and the snuza... I haven't heard of the monbaby, now I'm gonna go check it out! We really want the owlet, but it's pricier and on our Babylist registry (we didn't have much luck with getting gifts from a third party registry like that for our wedding, but I love the idea of it). If we get both we'll just return the Snuza for credit, but I think that's wishful thinking.
@annabenanna ... it's called the Mimo. It's the wearable one because the crib version doesn't detect fine movement (like breathing). Here's the website https://mimobaby.com/ .... the BRU website has a couple of videos (the ones I was trying to show DH) that talk about the features. I don't love that it's a onesie they wear but you can put regular PJ's and swaddle over it if you want.... personally I don't really care as long as she's breathing.
I've read that the others that attach to feet and such often fall off so I haven't looked at them at all. I'll need to check out the ones you mentioned. We've only checked out the mattress pad versions like the BabySense.
ETA: one of the issues with the BabySense was that their customer service sucks (according to reviews)... I called Mimo to ask a question today and the guy I talked to was WONDERFUL! Even trying to figure out how they could improve their website to make finding the answer I was looking for easier. I think that it's going to be a good product and easy to get assistance if I need it.
I've never heard of all these fancy monitors! We just registered for one of the old fashion walkie talkie monitors. And we don't even care if we get it. Our house is tiny and the walls are thin. Lol
