  • @kmolleltz this is the story of my life! Also, our local grocery store in town imports all their vegetables and fruits from Mexico, and I live in Michigan, so they go bad the next day. I try to hit the farmers markets for produce, but right now the only things they're selling because the season just started here is tomatos and asparagus. SO pretty much, most of my produce goes bad before I get to it :(

Do it. We all need more nothing in our lives lol. Because it's technically not nothing! Relaxing is something :)

The crazy cicadas have hit our house and their clumsiness cracks me
up. I am juat sitting on my deck watching them run into everything.
  • there's a baby in the office and everyone's losing their fucking minds. I hate when people are loud. get some courtesy.
  • @OrangeEv The Cicadas are graceful as swans compared to these kamikaze, nature's idiots, June Bugs!
  • @kmolleltz That's a perfect entry for "pregnancy brain mishaps."  You could serve it to friends and call it "tahini dip".

  • @sjo_thetwins It's so heart breaking and SO MADDENING. I just feel so helpless and then I get even more upset thinkinga bout my friends and loved ones who have to live in fear for being their true selves. I HATE that I live in a place where I've actually thought out what I would do and how I would hide in the event of a shooting and I hate that my son will grow up in a world where he'll have lock down drills and practice what to do in school. It makes me sick to my stomach.

  • This is really random, but the number of times I've seen a cop in our work parking lot today is out of control. I know we're on a busy road, but does it really take 2 cop cars to pull over an elderly couple? And we've also had a towing and I'm not sure what the others have been doing - hanging out?

I am thoroughly entertained by all the action.

  • @sjo_thetwins I'm still having a hard time processing Saturday's events.  I still can't.  I can't wrap my head around it.  I comfort baked all weekend, to try and cheer up.  I lived in Orlando for a year, and I went to Pulse with a few gay friends once... One of my friends posted this on facebook this morning and it just about brought me to tears:

"I can't relate with those who have been marginalized and villainized their entire lives - because of who they love or what God they worship, because of the color of their skin or country of origin. The hate is all the same. It all comes from the same place - and sometimes that place misdirects rage to silly things like where people pee, and not to real actual things like where and how people die senselessly. Haters carry their own pain, born of ignorance or stupidity. They have my love always, but I'm done trying to understand them. This, though, is what I know about love:

Love is bigger than everything. Love is more than "thoughts and prayers". Love is action and activism. Love is hugging your neighbor -yes - but love goes further. Love stands in the doorway and says "You will not pass. We will not let you. You are done here." Love doesn't use violence to fight violence, but love doesn't sit around. Love protects and defends. Love speaks up. Love acknowledges who the real victims are and isn't scared to mince words. Love doesn't care if being political isn't nice, because love is bigger than politics and bigger than offending someone. When we lock arms, love is always bigger."

OMG this made me cry. It's perfect.

  • ok, this is random but important.
Now that pool season is in full swing I felt the need to remind people how important it is to be knowledgeable about drowning. VERY FEW people recognize drowning. I was a lifeguard and swim instructor and have saved about 10 people.
Here is what I posted on Facebook (sorry if it's preachy, facts are important here):

As summer is here, please take two minutes to watch a boy drowning right next to numerous adults (until the lifeguard saves him).

*DROWNING IS SILENT! A drowning person is not physically capable of calling for help or waving.
*A drowning person will be vertical and upright in the water with their head tilted towards the sky.
*A drowning person's head will bob up and down in the water and their arms will be out to the sides.
*A drowning person will only struggle for 20-60 seconds before going under.
*And most importantly, a drowning person WILL take an untrained rescuer under with them. It is primal instinct to climb on top of the rescuer. Call for a lifeguard or try to get the drowning person to hold onto a pole or floatation device.

My BFF moved to the other side of the country last year. She's back in town for a few nights and a bunch of people are meeting for drinks (well, I'm meeting for dinner, so hopefully they eat, too).  ;)

Anyway, this is really petty, but I wish it was just the two of us going out. Her other friends are my acquaintances at most. And, she and I are much closer than she is with them. I joked with my husband that I was having dinner with my friend and my competition, I MEAN her other friends.  :D

I know the dangers of too much sun, and I wear sunscreen and all that, but I still like a nice little golden tan through the summer, especially on my legs (being a curvy girl, I just always feel a little more secure in shorts and skirts with tan legs...).  Anyway, because of the bump, I can't rollover when I'm chilling by the pool - and therefore have tanned legs in the front, and pasty white legs in the back. This is really more of a petty problem...but boo.
TRUTH. I have been trying to stand when I'm at the beach so I can get some sun on my back, but then my back hurts from standing too long. Sighhhhhh.

  • Uuuuugggghhhhh! I dried off with FI's towel after I showered because I washed all the others and they are in the dryer. When I was putting on my underwear I noticed I had boogers smeared on my hand and arm, and they were his infamously black "I'm a welder" boogers :s

fact... I've always said that tanned fat looks skinnier than pale fat haha (this coming from a very fair skinned girl)
  • @bnsmith85 Awww, I'm sorry you're so stressed over the dog! :(  Definitely stay positive.  Since you're introducing baby from the beginning, hopefully he'll just adjust that she's another member of his family and he'll go into loving, protective mode.  I've heard stories of new parents that expected their dogs to not like the baby, then prove the complete opposite.  Hopefully because you love baby, he will, too!  Crossing my fingers for you - I know it would kill me to say good-bye to one of my pooches!  I have high hopes for him!
  • @bnsmith85, i am so sorry.  sending you hugs.  although I am no dog expert, I do know how hard it is to give up a pet.  I hope so much for you and your pup that he is good with baby.
  • @bnsmith85 - Ugh, that is so tough. Maybe it'll be different if he gets to know your baby when she's still teeny tiny and not all up in his grill. Hoping and praying for the best for you and your sweet pup!
