I'm also going to miss OITNB this weekend. We're traveling with family so we won't be able to watch it I usually work on the weekends and send my 1 yr old to my parents, so I would have time to watch it. The one weekend I have off... Oh well, maybe next weekend.
Sometimes I think I'm the only person that doesn't watch OITNB lol
Nope. I don't. And I am pretty sure I'm the only person who doesn't watch GOT. It takes me a really long time before I get into any TV show and none of these have appealed to me really.
I miss Revenge....sigh.

@krzyriver ... get with it lady! It's one of my favorites
@ibabyloveb87 ... I can understand having a tough time getting into GoT, especially if you haven't read he books. It's tough knowing who everyone else and how they relate to others when you first start watching... but I love that one too. The genre isn't typically my jam, but this is an exception.
I watched the first few seasons of GoT but I gave up on it. It just got to be a lot of work and it felt like nothing was every resolved. I do feel like I'm missing something but haven't been able to get excited to catch up. Maybe eventually.

@ibabyloveb87 I watched the first season of GoT but didn't care to keep up afterwards. I don't get the appeal, though I usually love that kind of thing.
@bnsmith85 I'm so tempted to watch it, but I'm also nervous. I watched the first episode a long time ago and it really disturbed me. I don't know if it's because my husband has done time and I don't like to think about him in a place like that.... or if it's just because the blonde chick was so pitiful. I'm so overly sensitive, I get upset when people on Tv are upset. Lol. Does she toughen up? Cause if she doesn't look like a kicked puppy all the time, I might be able to stomach it.
I don't watch OITNB either, but I do watch GOT. It probably helped that I read the books, but honestly, after book one the show starting veering off. Now the show is at a point that is after all the books have stopped, so everyone is on the same "what's gonna happen next?" playing field.
Also, while usually I like shows on Netflix that can be binge watched, I like that I have to wait a week for each GOT episode. Watching all of that blood and gore back to back would be way too much for me! And it gives me something to look forward to each Sunday night.
@bamacoop I'm the opposite, I'd rather binge watch. I sometimes save up recordings of a show on my DVR and watch several weeks worth at once. So I love Netflix. But the only Netflix original I watch is Sense8.

She definitely toughens up And I feel like they're definitely trying to get your attention the first few episodes. It calms down a bit after that.... not totally, but some.
@annabenanna... DH and I tried to get into that. And I LOVE the story line, but it felt like they took 10 episodes to tell about something they could have wrapped up in one or two. Does that improve after season 1? We didn't finish season 1 b/c it just seemed to drag a lot.

Yes ! It gets better. I know it starts off slow...and you're like "what's the point of all this? what is this story REALLY about?" but it gets so good.... and it's also super conflicting emotions. You wanna cheer for the good guy, but you're hoping the bad guy is also given a break. Finish Season 1, I promise it gets better.
We frequent the gas station by my house, we are regulars, and one of the cooks who is probably the NICEST guy ever, was beat to death with a baseball last night on his birthday, at his own home ;( He was the type of guy who saved food to give away to his ederly regulars and it makes me really sad that ANYBODY would hurt him... my heart goes out to his wife and 4-year-old daughter who were just robbed of their husband and father.
@ingoscj YUM! a Greek church near my house does a food festival twice a year and they're doing it this weekend. I am SO EXCITED. Last time their baklava was AMAZING.
@krzyriver I'm so with you on OITNB and GoT. I watched most of the first season of OITNB and while I kinda liked it, it also just makes me sad/depressed so I just stopped watching. DH watches GoT but every time I see part of an episode there's either a 1)gruesome killing scene or 2) a naked woman for no apparent reason. I feel like they make it overly sexual and overly gruesome for no real reason.
@LGW2015 That's one thing I hate about a lot of HBO, Showtime, and Starz shows. It's seems like they put tons of violence and sex in them just because they can. I've been binge watching Dexter, which is obviously violent because it's about a serial killer so there's really no way around that. Lol. But every time my 15 year old son walks in the room there's a random naked woman on the screen for no reason. It's boobs for the sake of boobs and it's dumb.
Wtf at no one telling me this about OITNB! I was just asking DH the other day when he thought it would be back.
And, I made pretty amazing fettuccine Alfredo last night for dinner, been up for no reason since like 4am, and now have dry mouth and this awful garlic aftertaste stuck in my mouth. Disgusting start to the day but I should just look forward to my weekend of TV and nursery assembly/decorating!
I'm really excited to be going to a baseball game tonight, but every afternoon/evening this week has been in the 90s (and humid) and this preggo lady is slightly terrified There's also a celebrity softball game beforehand, so we'll be outside from like 4:30 until late at night. I bought a little mini fan and I'm planning on wearing the coolest clothing possible and of course drinking tons of water. I know that some of the bars are air conditioned and they have air conditioned mommy rooms.
Anyone have any advice for staying cool in this crazy heat?
@Blonde1817 when we went to a minor league baseball game a few weeks back it was wicked hot and I was having a bad nausea day so it make me feel sick... our stadium has a picnic table area that's shaded up by the concession stands. I'd recommend lots of water and taking time up there..... OH, and a thought just occurred to me, get one of those cool towels. The ones that you get wet, wring out and then hang around your neck. Those could help. With the humidity up (it's been bad here too), it's just not ideal for staying cool. Good luck
@bnsmith85 - The towel thing is an excellent idea, and a very timely suggestion for me. My in-laws invited us out on their pontoon boat this weekend. I thought we were just going to ride around, but apparently they want to stop at a sandbar and swim. I do NOT get in water I can't see through, so I've been trying to think of ways to keep cool while we're stopped. It's been in the mid nineties (heat index of 100+) here all week, so I'm a little worried. They do have a collapsable top on part of the boat, so being in the shade will help, for sure. That plus the cooling towel and plenty of bottled water should do the trick!
@mrszoess - Desktop bumpin' is the best! I do it all day and then I go home and attempt to mobile bump and usually give up after a few seconds because it's so terrible.

your weekend sounds a lot like mine... except I will be getting out at the sandbar I'm also a little funky about water I can't see through and my recommendation there is to always surround yourself with others for whatever it is to get to first... sounds funny... and mean, but it's honestly my strategy.
Do y'all have alligators or crocs there? I know you've said you're somewhere in the deep south...

I'm in lower Alabama. We have gators here, but they're not a huge problem. I'm more concerned about snakes. Last time I went canoeing, DH talked me into getting out at a sandbar and a snake swam right by me, maybe a 2 feet away. He still jokes about me "pulling a Jesus" because I practically walked on water to get the eff outta there!
I live at the beach and they recently found stinging rare jellyfish normally native to the pacific in our local bodies of water.
guess who isn't swimming this year?
haha... I ONLY go into ocean water I can see through. Screw the jellyfish... I have a ridiculous fear of sharks. I don't know about you, but I always watch Shark Week... gotta know your enemy .... seriously though, sharks eek!
Re: Weekly Randoms 6.13.16
I'm kind of mad about the fact that we have plans for tomorrow night. I'd much rather be binge watching... just sayin'
ETA: Season 4 trailer... because, why not watch it again
