@bnsmith85 just echoing PPs. When they're so tiny I don't think they realize they're actually people at first so that might help transition your pup. I know when our friends brought their newborn over my dog had no idea that it was alive and couldn't figure out why we were holding it lol it wasn't until he was older and moving that my dog realized he was a little person. Hopefully training and slow introduction during that time will help! They say it's important to let the pup smell all of the baby's things, clothes, toys, car seat, stroller etc as you get them prior to baby, and reward good behavior. They also recommend playing a recording of a baby crying. Start out at a low volume and reward calm behavior. Then slowly make it louder over time and keep rewarding the good/calm behavior to get them used to the noise. You can also use a doll. Carry it around so that pup gets used to you giving your attention to something else.
2 other potentially helpful things to train your dog before baby arrives. One is "touch" where you teach them to touch an object with their nose when you give them the command. We actually do "sniff" with our dog. It's really simple to teach them, there are step by step guides online. This will help once the baby comes and you can have him touch the baby without licking or biting or pawing. You can practice the command first with your hand and then practice on baby's items that you want to introduce to the dog. Another helpful one is "settle" or "go to bed". Our dog has a lot of anxiety so when he gets overwhelmed we make him go to his bed to lay down and settle. It's not difficult to teach them that one either, just make sure when you do you make their bed a positive experience and treat them or give them a special toy in the beginning so they don't think it's a punishment. It's just a way to make them calm down.
Sorry for the long post. We're working with our dog who has severe anxiety so I've read and talked to the vet about a lot of techniques. Good luck!
@bnsmith85 Awe =( Hopefully it will all work out for all of you! Maybe if he gets to know the baby little by little he'll get used to to your LO, so it wouldnt be a "BAM, here's a kid messing with you" situation. Hugs and good luck to you!

Seriously like oh my gosh. She just thought she was really sick the whole time and every time she went to a Dr even though they tested her urine they apparently never tested if she was pregnant.

@annabenanna Yes, yes, YES. I don't remember being this big this soon with the others... and still 16 weeks to go. Aaaand... the heat is already in the triple digits here ;( Somebody put me to sleep and wake me up in 4 months!
@kmolleltz A girl I knew in college had a baby at 30 weeks and had no idea she was pregnant. She lives in the US. She went to the ER thinking she had a kidney stone or something. Nope, just a baby. He's doing well and all and is about a year old now, but I can't imagine not knowing!

Anyone else feeling huge? How can this bump possibly get any bigger?
I feel giant. Especially after I eat! It doesn't help that I had a stranger tell me I "must be due any day". *eye roll*
Seriously? Someone told you that? I would have killed! I know what you mean though because I get the "omg, are you sure you're only going on 6 months? That baby is gonna be huge!" Seriously bitch, of course I'm sure.

When I told SO this morning that the maternity clothes I ordered were just for vanity, and didn't think I'd actually like really NEED them, he was like "what did you think would happen to your belly????" LOL. I guess I should adjust my expectations.
Sorry about the heat! San Diego doesn't heat up till about September/October.... so technically, I'll be like dying of heat after week35.

Thanks ... he knows "Place" which is our version of "settle." Basically, we can put him on any item and he'll stay on that item (usually his dog bed) until he's released. I like the touch command idea. We taught him that a while back but didn't have a ton of use for it so it's fallen by the wayside. I'll re-teach that. Thanks for the idea!
And thanks all for the support. Just having a rough day with it all.
It's like that show "I didn't know I was pregnant" which always blows my mind!
I always thought those girls were total idiots... until I got pregnant. If we were not trying and my periods were irregular, I would probably be one of them! I never got sick and my bump is still not huge... Heck, before I could feel her move, I would forget I was pregnant all the time!
@annabenanna Yes, yes, YES. I don't remember being this big this soon with the others... and still 16 weeks to go. Aaaand... the heat is already in the triple digits here ;( Somebody put me to sleep and wake me up in 4 months!

He definitely has a point haha I have some maternity jeans from LO last summer, but it's too hot to consider jeans right now so far this year. It usually doesn't get like this until August, and on top of the heat we just got over a long stretch of storms so it's sooo humid!
I'm getting the opposite of the "you're so huge!" comments, but it's still annoying!
I've had the "you don't even look pregnant!" (Um.....thanks?)
And the "You're so skinny! I was SO FAT when I was pregnant!" (Um... I'm sorry?)
And the "You're so small! Is the baby okay? Is he sick? Is he growing? Are you eating?" (Um. Yes. Baby is doing great, Baby is doing fine, Baby is actually measuring 5 days ahead. And if he was sick, do you think I want to talk to you about it, near stranger/co-worker/mere acquaintance? And yes, I DO eat, thanks very much! It's not like I'm starving myself to keep a slim figure. All women carry differently!)
So now I'm getting those, but I'm sure eventually I'll also get the "You're so big! You're about to pop!" too.
Why can't people just say "Hey, pregnant lady! You look great today!" ???
@bamacoop yes! I've gotten the "you don't even look pregnant" line, which I DO NOT take as a compliment. Because that just means you think my body is kind of weird and/or wonder why I'm wearing maternity clothes all the time.
Same here, @bamacoop. Yesterday, one of DH's coworkers was like "You don't look pregnant, at all! Are you sure she's in there?! ::obnoxious laughter::"
I think they probably feel like they're paying us a compliment.
@CopperBoom86@depineta@bamacoop ... same here! You may have seen a post where I mentioned what my friend said to me... that, for people who don't know me or know I'm pregnant, they probably aren't sure if I'm pregnant or have just had one too many burritos. Ummmm... okay, thanks?
Ladies, I need your opinion. SO and I are doing a simple wedding ceremony at Coronado beach on 6/25. We are doing the ceremony just us + minister + photographer.... but the following day we are doing a simple brunch with friends to celebrate.
I need dress opinions. I have these three I'm considering for the ceremony and for the brunch. Which one for which, you think?
@bnsmith85@CopperBoom86@depineta@bamacoop -- I'm with all ya'll. I don't really look pregnant yet -- I just look like I'm fatter in the belly than I was before (I've gone from being pretty pear-shaped to just looking . . . well, even chunkier than I was before). I cannot WAIT until I look undeniably pregnant -- for being-offered-train-seat purposes, for I'm-not-just-fat purposes, for hey-fellow-pregnant-lady-here's-a-nod-in-solidarity purposes, etc. etc. etc.
My random for the day: I am Facebook friends with a super religious Catholic woman that I went to college with (like, she tried being a nun for a while religious). She posts multiple religious things a day on Facebook. It's a lot of stuff and we haven't talked in person in years so I'm not sure why I haven't just unfollowed her yet, but most of the stuff she posts is pretty innocuous even if it is annoying at times (like, why are you posting parenting tips when you aren't a parent?) So I just let it go. Well, today she posted an article titled "5 Dumb Things Christians Must Stop Saying When Evil Strikes," with the commentary "I mostly disagree with this but worth some awareness." The "5 Dumb Things" were:
1: "This is an opportunity for the church . . ." 2: "This is God's wrath for . . ." 3: "Did you hear?" (i.e. don't spread salacious rumors) 4: "I don't agree with their lifestyle/politics/religion, but . . ." 5: "Everything happens for a reason."
No one has posted a reply yet, and I never interact with her on Facebook, but I am so so so so so so tempted to post "What part of 'Don't be a sanctimonious asshole' did you disagree with?"

I have a friend who is 5 weeks ahead of me post a photo of her bump on Facebook the other day. ALL the comments were basically about how big she looked, so I finally chimed in "Looking good, Mama!" just to break up all the other comments. It's so nice to hear you look good, instead of you "your belly is so big!" or whatever else.

I will @MRSCORKER, I'm gonna be huge, but whatever. I'll just go with it. LOL.
@annabenanna I have to agree with the masses - #1 is just a gorgeous beach wedding dress. I can just see it with the sun setting! I may actually consider wearing the same dress to brunch the next day, only cuz I hate that you only get to wear your wedding dress once and since no one will see it the day before.... But, #3 is definitely a winner for brunch.
@annabenanna #1 is going to look so adorable with your bump! I think empire waists are so flattering on pregnant women. Definitely post pics & congrats!
Thank you ladies! #1 wins! It's only $39.99 too! On a website called Fashion Nova. I read reviews and I've already read two reviews saying: "i wore this for my baby shower...." So I think it may be bump friendly. Just worried about the backless part.... and some possible sideboob showing.. but we'll have to see when it arrives!

You could always tape your boobs to prevent the side boob. I've never done it before but saw it on something, maybe Buzzfeed? about people trying to do it like Kim K did and were pretty successful with it. FYI because I feel the need to defend before anyone thinks otherwise , I'm not a Kim K fan, but that's not a bad idea if side boob is a concern. Whatever you decide, you're going to look beautiful!!
ETA: so excited for you! Weddings are the best! DH and I said, we'd get married yearly if we could afford it, we just love it so much!

Ah @bnsmith85 that's such a great idea, the taping of the boobs! It'll probably also make my boobs look more perky! Now I'm excited for the dress to get here so I can try it on!
@annabenanna I am in total consensus with everyone on dress #1 for the wedding. BUT I am going against the grain and saying I like #2 for the brunch better.
