Re: June Randoms Thread

  • Megan324 I actually stumbled across someone I know while lurking on another bmb. It felt kinda weird!

  • @PoodleDoodleOoo I thought it was a Drop Dead Fred reference! But no, people can see your Fred.
  • @Megan324 Since finding out that you and I are from the same town, I've wondered that too.  But am not overly worried.  I like the idea of having someone close to the area who might know hidden gems I don't know about or once we get to the FB stage who could share great sales ideas with me. :)  That being said, I have three friends who are due the same week as me, and I'm pretty sure none of them are on here, at least not regularly.

I am wearing pink flip flops to work today. Whoops!  I put them on when I went out in the garage this morning to put DS in his car seat as my husband was getting ready to leave and I just never took them off.
Hahahha!! I wore leopard print fuzzy slippers one time.
  • @AnnaS930 I definitely had that 'Aha!' moment yesterday when my boss asked to set up a meeting to start planning for my maternity leave.  I was like, 'Wait, what!?' I don't even have a nursery set up yet!   But then when thinking about it, i'm 3 months away and they're planning on hiring a temp so they have to start putting out feelers for it now so that they're here and trained should I go early.   It's crazy!   And like you, I'm all ok, I better start getting my stuff in order so I don't leave the temp in the lurch.
  • @AnnaS930 This is super late, but I didn't get much Bump time yesterday because we finally started on the nursery! The non-toddler friendly place was what made everything so difficult. She and I go places without DH during the day often, but it's places like the park, library, or children's museum. Or when it's the store, I can put her in a cart to keep her wrangled. I was definitely hurting at the end. I don't think I could have handled a whole three day weekend. You're a trooper!

  • @JennM205 My husband is the same way with thinking everything had to get done the day I turned a pee stick. I, on the other hand, am just starting to feel nesting setting in. I think he's glad I'm finally onboard with him. I don't think I realized how much more needs to be done with this nursery than McKenna's did (carpet, paint, redoing closet) until yesterday, and wish we would have gotten started sooner.

  • I really want to nest! It's hard. I just want to find a house and move in ASAP so I can get everything set up

I wore mismatching heels one day. I'd put one shoe of each pair on to decide which ones to wear, got side tracked and forgot to pick...

i didn't have a car at the time and took public transit so I convinced a coworker to drive me home at lunch so I could change my shoes!
  • I regularly get halfway down my street in my slippers. Luckily I always notice before I'm too far from home.

Also, re nesting, I've said this before our guest room will be baby's room. It still looks like a guest room. The crib is in pieces in the basement. I've done nothing.

  • So tired, only night one of H's work trip.  I really thought I would have slept better as he both stays up later than me and gets up early.

Re nesting: I'm so excited for us to move in a month.  Before I had a hard time planning or getting excited for the nursery in our smaller apartment.  Now I have so many thoughts and ideas.  My goal while H is gone is to go through our place and purge.
  • @jhems776 How is the home purchase going?  I remember you saying you'd had your inspection...so are you in the "sit and wait until closing" phase or do you have other hurdles to cross between now and then?  Home buying is so exciting - but it can also be so stressful and so slow (at least for an impatient person like me, haha).

  • I haven't started to nest. I think it will come after our vacation (16 days but who's counting!!). I'm a little worried because husband and I are kind of messy and because of our wonky work schedules we usually clean and tidy up on Monday but by the end of the week, our house is a disaster. I'm scared of what our tiny apartment is going to look like once we start getting baby things and then baby is actually here. Someone want to come organize my house?
  • @jhems776 - If you think the price was reasonable that it was listed for, I'm confident that the appraisal will show that... you guys seem pretty condo/real estate savvy. Fingers crossed!

  • Hey friends! We will be out of town this weekend and will be having the neighbor kids watch our 2 SUPER easy dogs from mid-day Friday until mid-day Sunday (just letting them out a couple times a day and feeding them twice a day). All three kids are under the age of 12. What do you think would be an appropriate amount to pay them??
  • @Sbrown721 - we are actually doing the same with our 1 dog and 2 neighbor kids. I'm thinking of leaving $40, so $20 apiece to fill the food bowl a couple times and go for some walks.

  • @Megan324 - Ours offers a sibling class, which I'm sure is pretty standard - but it's for ages 3-8 or something.  My little man is only 1.5, luckily he gets tons of baby exposure at daycare!

  • @Megan324 Mine offers classes for pretty much everyone... grandparents, siblings, STM+ refeshers, even a doggie prep class (which we did take). I know none of it is needed, but it's still fun that they offer them.

  • I kinda wish we were doing birthing classes again, though with a toddler at home I really don't have the time to go a couple hours a week in the evening... and really don't need the refresher... but it was a fun 4 weeks that seemed to go by pretty quickly counting down to class each Thursday.  I need to start doing something that is weekly that can help me countdown a bit. Hmmm.  First on the list is a squat challenge (inspired by pelvic floor talk), maybe I should finally finish the quilt I started as a "guestbook" at our wedding... nearly 4 years ago. I just keep making other quicker crafts and never going back to the quilt. Speaking of which.. this baby needs some wall hangings/quilts that I could whip up instead ;)

@AmMcc12 Look at it as "the TV is broken and now we just have to go out and get this brand new 150 inch curved, 3d TV..."

  • @AmMcc12 our TV did that at our first apartment! It spooked me so much! We'd be sleeping or out and it would turn on on its own. DH got himself a fancy router and it stopped. I think it was a neighbor accidentally connecting to our Chromecast. Now that you reminded me of it, I am so glad we don't live there anymore lol

  • @PoodleDoodleOoo That makes sense! Thankfully my kid won't be around his problematic grandparents hardly at all and my mom and MIL are super open to all the new things/standards

@PSUBecky23 I am so with you. I haven't done SQUAT and need to get my act together! I'm thinking once this school year winds down that I'll be able to get things done (because it's super easy to accomplish any task with a 2yo running around!)
  • I have an old friend that is a SAHM as of the last few months. We fell out of touch about a year ago and haven't really talked since. No problem for me and no problem for her (I didn't think). Out of the blue last week she texted asking why I haven't talked to her and whether she did something wrong. She said she's a SAHM now and very lonely. I told her nothing was wrong at all. She called me 3 times during work hours and again using *67 so it came up as an unknown #. I told her between parents visiting, a busy work week, and getting ready for my baby shower I couldn't talk this week.

She has been calling still and being weirdly stalker-ish and playing a martyr because I haven't been able to talk this week. She called me twice last night and once again from an unknown #. Is it strange for me to be creeped out? At this point, I'd like to keep the relationship very distant...
  • @Sbrown721 That's bizarre behavior! Like, I get feeling lonely and maybe even reaching out misguidedly during work hours, but why is she hiding her number?
  • @AmMcc12 what were THEY watching? Maybe they're like the couple in Beetlejuice. Friendly :)
  • It turned on to Tosh.0. We have lived there for 2.5 years and this is the first time it has happened

  • @Sbrown721 the calling from unknown numbers puts it over the edge for me!
  • @RedMar so glad I'm not the only one! My goal is 30 weeks for starting to get shit done.

  • Thanks, ladies! She was just a work friend prior to us falling out of touch awhile ago. I appreciate the input! I'll have to think of a nice way to tell her that we are better off moving on...sounds like breaking up with a boyfriend haha
