@annas930 I was just thinking how funny it would be to have one baldy and one with lots of hair!
Both me and my brother had hair aplenty when we were born. Not sure about DH.
I'm really curious to see if their eyes are different colors (mine are grey-blue and DH's are hazel, which is the same color combo as my parents, only switched). I'm hoping we have at least one with blue eyes, and kind of hoping we have one blue and one hazel.
idk if this is a random or unpopular opinion...but anyways...when my first LO was born it really bugged me how my MIL would call him "my little boy"...sorry he isn't YOUR little boy...he is your grandson...but he is MY little boy...it has already started with this one now..."take care of my little princess"....she isn't your princess!! she is your granddaughter....i also really hate the stereotypical boy/girl things...like calling a little girl princess...my Son was never refereed to as a little prince...we aren't royalty...it's a good thing i wont be seeing her much this summer!
@erinmarie86 last year before DH and I were even trying to conceive, MIL was talking about her grand nieces and nephews and said "but my babies will be cuter." DH laughed right in her face and was like "Look at that! She's already trying to claim the unborn children she isn't even having" and she hasn't said anything like it since.
@camichael84It's crazy what a little, tiny smear of blood can do to your head during pregnancy. What a mind-trip! I hope you're right and it's just a fluke and you never have to worry about it again! When I had spotting after sex a month or so ago, my OB said that it could just be because the cervix is becoming so much more vascular than usual and filling with blood. Just the slightest irritation (which could easily be caused by penetration) can cause bleeding. It was comforting to hear that.
@MojieJo- That's so fun. My sister has fraternal twins (a boy and a girl) and other than their size (he has inches and probably 10 pounds on her) they have a lot of the same traits.. blonde and blue-eyed, but really don't look any more alike than a typical set of siblings (which of course they are, just born at the same time!) A past teacher of mine has twin boys who are about 4 now. One is blond/blue-eyed and looks just like mom, the other has brown hair and dark brown eyes and looks just like dad. It's adorable.. they really don't have any resemblance to each other!
@megan324 I know we are due on the same day. Aren't you considering flying out for a wedding soon after? As I'm looking into airlines, it looks challenging to fly out past month 8. I think I'm going to use this as my final reasoning for not being able to attend my brother's wedding on Sept. 17th. I need to stop feeling guilty. I am going to talk this over with my midwife next appt as well. What airline are you looking at using?

I've seen this happen as well. The last place I worked, we had a set of twin boys where one looked like dad and the other mom, and they couldn't have been more night and day from one another. One had dark eyes, hair, and complexion and a stocky build. The other was a redhead with fair skin and blue eyes and long and thin. You would have never guessed by looking at them they were brothers. It was fun. (They also had the best brotherly/twin bond I've ever seen. Watching them interact with each other was always the best.)
@camichael84-These two opposite boys I know are wildly adorable as well. Very similar personalities and just happy, goofy little guys.. constantly hugging and hanging off of one another. It melts my heart. It's also super cute when they wear things like matching Christmas PJs, because it really shows just how different they are, yet so similar at heart
@Sbrown721 I'm not flying I am driving because I think it's in town! I fly American Airlines exclusively because my friend is a flight attendant and I get nearly free flights.
I almost just posted this in the glucose testing thread which would have been cruel and unusual punishment. I'm bringing a dessert to a family party this weekend, so I made these this weekend: PB cup rice krispy treats. Make PB rice krispy treats (regular recipe +1/2 cup PB in melted marshmallows), lay down half of recipe into 9x13 pan, then a whole layer of peanut butter cups, whole (it takes 24! YES! 24!!), the other half of the PB rice krispy mixture, then put a layer of melted chocolate chips/butter on top.
I tasted. They are fantastic. I usually don't make such rich desserts for us at home since we'd eat them all and that would be bad news bears, but love to do something indulgent for pot lucks where people just have a small piece (or 2 or 3)
Yay for awesome appointments @MojieJo ! They're a great size. When I Robert came out, I remember I kept asking "Does he have tons of hair?" over and over. My heartburn had been so bad that I was convinced I was having gorillas! Both kiddos ended having a decent amount of hair.
RE Twins - Robert and Elleanore look similar but not everyone realizes they're twins. They've got a similar body building but Robert has blue eyes, a round, chubby-cheeked face and bigger ears while Elleanore has a slim face and brown eyes. It'll be interesting to see how the next two look!
@seitzy3 - Hoping you and Baby Ava are doing well!
Can someone recommend something that I can safely take for cold/sinus/nasal congestion? I am so miserable over here, especially sine I realized last night that Tylenol Cold and Sinus wasn't ok for me to take. I have a Nettie Pot (not a huge fan but I'll use it) but I've also got a sore throat, my ears are plugged, my belly hurts every time I sneeze or cough and I can't get a decent nights sleep. Ugh!
Ok. Sorry. No more whining. But any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!!
AHH ladies I'm so excited. We have been house hunting for a few months now, and went through a little bit of a disaster about a month ago with a bad inspection. I'm talking -- we really loved this place and found out through the inspection that there were some MAJOR issues, safety wise (electrical and structural) so unfortunately we had to walk away. It was frustrating and heart breaking (and expensive).
Then we found this condo that we both love and that I think will be a perfect "starter" home for us. Everything had been going fairly smoothly but I was really holding my breath for the inspection. Well we just got back from it today and it went so well! Minor things here and there like you'll find in any house, but even the inspector, when he was done said "I think this'll be really great for you two and the little one". What a sigh of relief!! Of course there's still a ways to go before it's ours, but this is definitely a step in the right direction and now I feel like I can breathe again.
Time to have a mini celebration with my favorite burger place!
@UnwritteN12 ugh, I am so sorry you feel crappy! Allergies (which I've never had) hit me hard a few weeks ago, I've been taking Claritin daily. But that takes a week to build up in your system, so on one of the worst days that week I took a Benadryl to dry me out so I could function / rest for a few hours. I took it around 6pm, had a lovely few hours of not hating life shortly thereafter, and slept great.
ETA: I also tried to neti pot every other day, but it's not my favorite thing!
@SLou24 yay for good inspection!!! We had a similar issue last year where we thought we were buying our dream home only to have the inspection reveal major problems so I know the feeling! Good luck with the new place!!
I'm getting my hair did! I'm starving!!!!!!!!!!!!! I ate some fishies right before I came in but now someone is eating something really good smelling in the break room and I'm dying. I have no clue what it is but I must have it!
@SLou24 Yay for the good inspection! Home hunting and the closing process is such an anxiety filled experience. Celebrate each step! We are waiting on our appraisal, then I think I can fully exhale lol.
@PoodleDoodleOoo oh wow! i'm glad your hubs said something...i don't think it bothers my hubs like me...it's not just my MIL...if anyone besides me or my husband say "my baby" (or w/e) it bugs me...it just so happens that my MIL says it frequently...why can't she just say "My Grand-baby" that would fine!
My MIL ( who I can't stand) comments on most of my facebook pics of "There's my little Emmett, Savtah loves you!" She goes by Savtah, I think it's Yiddish, I hate it. I hate people talking about themselves in the 3rd person and how often she has to use the name Savtah as if she's forcing it to click. And he's not hers and never will be.
I've been having horrible reflux again for the last couple weeks (I had it really bad in my early first trimester). Seems to be the closest I get to heartburn (knock on wood).
Thanks everyone for the well wishes. Ava is doing great. My midwife ordered an ultrasound just to check on her and it looks like she is just really low and reaaallllyyyy snuggled into my pelvis, which is why I have a huge amount of pressure and pains. She is solely chilling on my left and we tried moving her a little but she wouldn't budge. She is very comfy. Also checked for a UTI but that was clear. As for those movement, again the midwife says she hears that a lot. Better safe than sorry. glad everything is fine and I'll be back Monday for my glucose test.
I can see my apartment building's pool from my window. I'm so jealous and really tempted to go down there. I'm working from home today and am supposed to be working till 5, but the people swimming and laying out are calling to me.
Definitely not baby related and 100% random but question for you Canadians....
Why do your supreme court justices dress like Santa?! Is Santa your secret ruler or something?! Do you get two or Christmases/holidays per year?! Is that why are you are all so damn nice all the time?!?! because you get extra holidays?! Seriously considering relocating to Canada after this discovery (that and amazing healthcare and maternity benefits).
For the record, I wish our boring, stern, constantly looking mad and constipated US Justices dressed like Santa
This made me LOL. Apparently they dress similar to judges in England... Or something like that. For the record, I think it's a job requirement for ALL judges to look constipated.
but the Santa and two Christmases theory is so much better, so we'll go with that

@AmMcc12 same here!! I feel like I need to start reading everything I can get my hands on.. About L&D, about the first year, about everything!! I'm also kind of excited for a birthing class, although I need to get signed up. I feel behind on everything!
@AmMcc12 - Asides from our hospital class I really put zero effort into learning about L&D last time. There are so many possibilities for how things could go.. do however much research you want to do, but unless delivering at home, you will be among a very talented and knowledgeable staff who will guide you through it (and plus, your body will know what to do!)
Ummmm... @PSUBecky23 You can't post a picture with that much deliciousness oozing out of it and then just leave it there without a recipe to go along with it!!! The suspense is killing me, probably a little more than necessary but let's blame it on hormonal cravings. What is it you call these beauties and how can I replicate them??
@PSUBecky23 - what is that glorious concoction called? I absolutely LOVE bar recipes, probably my favorite thing to make. When you make a cake, it's obvious if you steal a slice to sample.. I always make a pan of bars then arrange them on a plate so it isn't obvious that one (a few) are missing when I bring them in!
@JennM205- because the pic said "cookies and cups" on it, I scoured pinterest in the interim figuring it was the name of the website. I hadn't found them yet.. but I was drooling in my search and what it did turn up!
@PSUBecky23 - OMG, I just need a bag of white chocolate chips and I have all the rest of the ingredients. Maybe I'll make these tonight, and that way I can bring half of each to the party (AND KEEP THE REST FOR MEEEEE!)
@AmMcc12 all the information out there seems overwhelming so I get it! I've taken some classes before but there seems to be so much to learn. We had to sign up for a childbirth class (doctor makes his patients do it!) but after looking into other methods, I also signed us up for a hypnobirthing class. I figure, though, that we can educate ourselves as much as possible but still need to be prepared to follow my doctor's lead should anything unexpected arise.
@UnwritteN12 - for congestion, the occasional Sudafed is safe after 1st trimester. I can get really bad congestion and it is the only thing that helps! And I mean the behind-the-counter kind that requires you to show ID. I'm not sure if the other kind is safe.
I don't have any food left at work and I'm here for another hour and a half Those pictures are not helping, I'm drooling over here! I love the cookies&cups s'mores pie recipe, and I am now realizing how dangerous that website is as I look at all the pictures
