I know we've talked about kids playing favorites back and forth between parents, but I feel so hated right now ! DH stays home with DS during the day, therefor spends every moment with him until I get home from work and then DH leaves for his shift. DS cries like crazy when he leaves and doesn't want anything to do with me. This has been going on for months now (it didn't help I was dead to the world first tri) and I'm waiting for this phase to pass. This summer I'm hoping things will change as I'll be the one with him for the majority of the day. I have such mommy guilt already for demoting him from the baby of the family and this behavior is not helping! Anyone else experience this? Sorry for the rant
@UnwritteN12 Golden Grahams! Your own boxes. I love it. I want some now.
@JennM205 that would freak me out! That reminds me of some buzz feed thing (or similar) with a list of creepy things children said to their parents. It was equally creepy and funny.
Random little known fact: gypped is technically a derogatory term as it refers to gypsies.
Thanks autocorrect, for making gypsies into guppies. Not the same
Good to know. I originally spelled it with a "j" and it underlined it. I hope I didn't offend any gypsies out there... My how I envy you and your carefree, non-tax paying ways...
I wasn't aware of that word origin. Thanks for the tip. When I was a kid in the 80's I dressed up like a "gypsy" for Halloween. I didn't know any better, but I wish my parents had. I also shake my head at a costume I wore for an ice skating show that was very geisha like.
@RedMar I'm home more with my son than my husband is. When he gets home my son runs to see him after we have spent all day together. When I get home I get a smile from him and that's about it. Sometimes it breaks my heart but I'm happy that he has such a reaction to his dad at the same time. For a lot of things he still favors me, I think your little will flip flop over the summer!
@RedMar in the realm of derogatory terms I don't really think that one's up at the top of the list of things to be concerned about. But I'm weird and think other people need to know the random crap I do. The no taxes thing sounds nice though.
also my son is 1000% about dad these days. Cries when he walks out of the room, wants to be held by him all the time. I'm home with him two days a week and he's fine with me when dad isn't there.
How did your partners cultivate this dad preference? Is it a boy thing? We both work FT, so neither of us gets that much more time with her. DD seeks constant mom attention. Not to say she doesn't enjoy dad too, but baby is going to be such a shock to her world. This gives me hope that little brother will eventually prefer dad! (Which would be bittersweet now that I think about it...)
My daughter goes through phases where one day she's daddy's girl and the next day she's all about me. I don't mind when she only wants daddy because it gives me more down time.
I've been out of town since Friday, trying to catch up, today is my Monday. Thank you for everyone's congratulations on team blue and our condo. I had an amazing weekend and am so thankful to have such wonderful family and friends back home. Re Car seats. I've loved reading this conversation, maybe thread worthy but it seems to resolved now. I have a small car and the middle I've always wondered if it was too much of a hump, I bet it is.
Re Zoo, I'm from Cincinnati (just came back from there). Ugh, I hate how it is all over facebook. I'm a FTM but even I can see how fast a four year old can disappear.
Re parent preference, I don't think it's just about being a boy... My kiddo shouts with glee whenever daddy comes into the room, but ulimately, it's me he snuggles with, etc. I think kiddos just go through phases maybe...
I was wondering if dad preference was a boy thing, too, but I get that it's all situational. I stay home with my daughter and she prefers me, even when DH gets home. Usually he gets excitement, but sometimes she won't leave my side to even give him a hug. I love how much she adores me, but it leaves me with very little me-space.

Here's to a fresh new day today for the both of us!
