  • @CopperBoom86 Happy Dirty 30! I have decided that I will take one for the team, and accompany your group to Hibachi in her place ;)
I was totally going to offer as well. But I wasn't sure if it would be internet creepy hahaha

  • Wahhhh. I have a cold and my right ear has needed to pop all day. I've tried everything, with no relief.

Also, happy 30th, @CopperBoom86 ! Enjoy your hibachi dinner! That's what I picked last week for #29 :)
  • Hibachi is the shit!  That's where we went from my 30th last weekend too @CopperBoom86! Shame on her for her stupid comments -we can go there if you want.. well no shit, it's your birthday!  She can figure out her own dietary needs, you don't have to be her nutritionist as well! Eat all the rice for me, ok?! That is my favorite favorite part :)
  • I've never been to a hibachi! Would be nice to try sometime. I'm not sure there's even one in our town, though.

Maybe this should be my confession tomorrow, but I have a lot easier time shelling out for stuff than experiences. If I buy a tv, then I have a tv. But if I buy a meal, I eat the meal, and then I have nothing. That said, I don't think I'm "cheap" or come off as cheap. I don't hang out with people on the regular, but I would definitely make sure I was holding my end up if I did. And also not being a pain (would rather pick at my salad there and get a burger on the way home, for example).

  • Happy (actual) 30th Birthmas @CopperBoom86 !!! I hope you got breakfast in bed with all the bells and whistles and have a great day! ♡ Here, these are for you ;)
  • @RainMira9e I think maybe "cheap" is the wrong word.  Maybe miserly would be a better word for what @CopperBoom86 and @annabenanna are describing.  My sister hates to spend more than $15 on a pair of pants.  She's a couponer and almost never buys something that isn't on sale.  She isn't poor, she's just thrifty.  But she also always makes or buys me fantastic and thoughtful gifts and makes a real effort for us when we visit her home.  I would call her cheap (because she sometimes foregoes quality for low price even though she can afford the higher quality things), but I wouldn't use it as a pejorative (especially since she and her husband have already paid off their mortgage and we're looking at another 25 years of payments).  And I would definitely not call her miserly.

Thanks to @CopperBoom86 I decided to have Hibachi for lunch. OMG, it was delicious. Thank you for putting that thought into my head. The only problem is, now I want more.

I've worn nothing but maternity underwear since week 14. NO TURNING BACK! @emmaaa, they're basically granny panties on steriods that hug the bump up to about halfway to the belly button.

ETA: I've also made the switch to a maternity/nursing bra. It is ugly as sin but I'm so damn comfortable.

@emmaaa , my regular underwear has started to feel awkward on me... like i have to keep pulling it up... because it feels like it isn't grippy enough for this bulging belly.  It just feels loose, which doesn't make sense because my belly is getting bigger... it's like, i can't pull it up because it's not big enough for that, and yet I can't push it down because then the whole thing will fall/sag... I purchased a pair of underwear on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Intimate-Portal-Stay-Fit-Maternity-Hipster/dp/B01A6OFRYI?ie=UTF8&psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_search_detailpage

Got those in a medium and they are my FAVORITE!  But because they're kinda pricey, I only bought a pair.... so then I saw that Motherhood Maternity was having a sale (buy a pack for $6.97, get the 2nd or 3rd or 4th pack at 50% off) for these:
    https://www.motherhood.com/Product.asp?Product_Id=96713Z20135&MasterCategory_Id=MC14

They aren't as good as the Amazon ones, but they're sooooo comfy!

ETA:  I'm a Small in the Motherhood Maternity ones, but even the Small is a little big.
  • This is a really random question. Today I went through security at work and one of the officers pulled me aside to tell me to check with my OBGYN about the safety of going through the metal detector every day. He said they would make accommodations for me if I needed them, but I really hadn't ever thought about that before. Does anyone know anything about metal detectors and pregnancy? I'm going to ask my doctor but my next appointment isn't until the end of the month.

I ordered my first pair from motherhood maternity a few weeks ago after seeing a post about them from you @MRSCORKER. They came in last week but I just tried them on for the first time last night & holy crap they are AMAZING! Will be ordering more today!!

aw man @MRSCORKER , I have NOT made the switch to a maternity bra.... Is it true that they are only sized: S, M, L?  And not like 32A, 32B etc?

I went to our local lingerie boutique. She advised that I shouldn't buy a maternity/nursing bra yet because who knows what my boobs will be like closer to the birth. She ended up putting me in a more comfortable and supported regular bra (and larger!) until about September. She said to come back then and we would get a more accurate fit. It could have been her just trying to make extra money, but I don't want nursing bras now that aren't going to fit later either. Just what I was told so I thought I would share.

I had a doctor's appt today & asked my doctor her thoughts on Zika. She said there's not a whole lot of worry in the US yet, and they are only testing people who have traveled to infected places at this time, but to of course be careful and take precautions when I have to be outside. I asked if a mother is infected, what type, if any, symptoms would manifest, and she said mild, virus like sysmptoms. Fever, fatigue, rash, etc. Now I'm freaking out a bit because about a month ago I had those symptoms and my primary care doctor thought I had mono. But it cleared up in a week, so was not mono. I know I'm probably freaking out for nothing, but I just needed to voice my concerns somewhere where people won't tell me I'm crazy! My dr. is also referring me to a specialist for a more in depth scan because I'm AMA & have had previous cervical surgery & that has me worried too. She wrote a note on my chart indicating my recent virus and said they can do some additional testing due to that as well. This should be good news, but until it happens, I will worry non-stop. The appt is not scheduled yet, waiting for the office to call, but I was told it could be anywhere from 2 weeks to a month. Ahh. I'm gonna go insane....

Aaah, that makes sense @ibabyloveb87 .  I have one bra I bought as a mistake years ago that's a bigger size and cup... I meant to return it, and never did.  That's what I've been wearing a lot lately.
  • I hadn't even thought about maternity underwear. I only wear thongs with the lace sides (and not to be fancy, just because they're so damn stretchy lol). My boobs are pretty big and have just kept growing, so I'm waiting on nursing bras. I did have to go out and purchase a bigger size anyway though to hold me over until then lol

I bought one from Target and just bought a size up and wear it on the smallest of the 3 hooks. I figure that as I grow, I can use the middle and then last set of hooks and the material is really stretchy so I think it will accomodate a growing cup size. I just couldn't with my regular bras anymore and I hate the thought of buying a regular bra in a bigger size because they're expensive and I don't know if it will fit after pregnancy. This was $9.99 so I didn't feel bad and I know I'll get use out of it for at least the first few PP months.

  • Who on earth though see-through maternity tops were a good idea?  I have a really cute blue and white maternity skirt and I can not, for the life of me, find a white shirt to go with it because every one I've tried on shows the blue over-belly band.  No one wants to see my pregnant belly or the cloth holding up my pants.

I know that it's more of a concern in first tri. If you've had your a/s and baby looks healthy, there isn't much to worry about at this point. But still call your OB and ask.

I'm really irritated that suddenly I'm physically exhausted every evening around 5 PM. I can be fine all day but early evening rolls around and BAM, my back hurts and my belly aches. I don't remember this at all with DS. Granted that now I'm chasing after a toddler all day in addition to growing a person (and today I'm watching my 1yo nephew, too) but gah. I'm only 16 weeks! The next 24 weeks are gonna be brutal if this is how things are now.

Any other BTDT moms in the same boat?

Ugh, I'm right there with you. I feel like I've been hit by a bus every afternoon and I know it's just going to get worse. My aches and pains at 20 weeks feel just as bad as they did at 30+ weeks last time. I had a little meltdown when my husband got home one night last week because I can't imagine how much harder this is going to get  :'(

I'm a FTM but the 5pm hits HARD. It's miserable. I feel exhausted and sometimes I sit down and accidentally fall asleep. And then it makes sleeping at night even harder. Which makes the cycle continue with vengeance!

I just found out my pregnant neighbor went into labor last night! Good vibes/prayers/ect if you think of her! I'm assuming she is giving birth at the government hospital which is significantly more risky than where I will be giving birth.

I was actually pretty pleased as to how they turned out!  I also thought that one pack only contained enough for one set.... I was so happy to find 40 pcs in there!  I saw they have glittery colors..... might just get those next time! :)
