I managed to get my Bellefit on today and it's amazing
Yay!!! Did you manage to keep it on all day?
I bought a pair of jeans today so I have something to wear over the next few weeks...even though they're 3 sizes bigger than my regular it was a relief to wear something that actually fits!!

I've worn it the past two days for 8hrs at a time. It reinforces my cs incision so well!
Anyone have experience with a jaundiced LO? Having all the emotions about it all. I haven't slept and I feel so sad that I can't pick her up while she's under the lights. She hates it and just screams. And I just sit there and try to soothe her but it really doesn't do much. My emotions are everywhere.
Yes. My son was In NICU for 6 days, 2 of which he spent under the lights. It was brutal and the worst part was not being able to hold him and comfort him. That was 2 weeks ago and he is 1000 times better now.. The lights did wonders for him. While it is hard now, just know that it's the best and fastest way to get them over the jaundice. Best of luck to you and LO

Ditto. I was going to post something about it, but I wasn't really sure what, so I just randomly cried instead. Every pregnancy they hit me the day after I get home from the hospital, and it sucks. I mostly feel over whelmed, and have a flood of emotions over everything and anything. With my first two it lasted 1.5-2 weeks, I'm 7days PP today. Today was especially bad, I cried more than usual, normally it's later in the day and I cry 2 times or so. I hope you start feeling better soon!!

Sorry to hear you're both having a rough time with your emotions but it's great that you're aware of it. Crying it out can be helpful. Just remember to seek help if you feel too overwhelmed or that you can't fully care for your baby. You're not alone!! Remember you're allowed to take care of yourselves too...be kind to yourselves
I still remember bawling with my first for no reason. My husband was back to work and every day as soon as he would come home I would break down. I felt so horrible because he would ask what was wrong but nothing was. My daughter was a relatively easy baby. Not fussy or anything but I just couldn't keep from crying. It truly does last a couple weeks as @jenl1681 said. The biggest thing I learned from my first baby about myself and my baby is everything is a phase. No matter how good or bad there is constant change. Just know you are all not alone!
Oh yeah, I should definitely add that I have zero reason except hormones to be crying. Grayson is an awesome baby. He eats and sleeps, barely even cries! Sometimes the tears just flow!
I find myself getting randomly emotional and weepy at times, not every single day but most days since my mom had to go back home. A lot of it is being so cooped up all day, even with daily walks I feel very stuck inside and isolated. I make sure that I talk it through with my H when I start to feel sad and having his support really helps. He tells me I'm allowed to feel sad and that its totally normal and that he is here for me.
Day 5, no post partum poop yet. I'm determined to make this happen today.
Also, now that my swelling has gone down some in my vaginal area, my stitches have that tight feeling. I know it means they are healing, but it's so frustrating to not be able to sit up like a normal person. I'm sick of waddling to walk from the perennial pads. How long did y'all go on the perennial pads before switching to normal pads? On one hand it makes moving around more comfortable, but the cold ice feeling is helping with swelling.
On day one I was basically bruised from head to toe from such a long labor (20 hours, 10 pushing). I was also basically swollen shut downstairs. Now my bruises are mostly gone and my vaginal area is much less swollen, but my perenium and my rectum area are just swollen and basically feel fallen out. I think things are fine because I've had a poop every day since day two PP, but I'm wondering when that areas going to be fine again.
Thanks @tripledaggerWed95976 My sweet one was under the lights for a day. I so wanted to comfort her. That was the worst part. They finally discharged her but we had to get retested today. Hopefully it's a positive result and we don't have to get readmitted. Thanks for the encouragement.
@JoMunson I'm really surprised they let you push for that long. My OB let me push for 3 hours and was adamant that that was the longest I could go before causing distress to the baby.

I was too! I kept saying "when have I pushed too long?" They checked LO after every pushing contraction and his heart beat was perfect- they even commented how totally unphased he was by labor, until he finally crowned and his heart rate went from consistent 133 to 90 and they told me he had to come out (and out he came!).
Because I know you all care about my bathroom skills, I just went for an all out war against #2 and won. Thank you, lord. I've been taking colace twice per day, but my husband made me chug a glass of metamucil this morning. I think that finally put me over.
For those struggling with post partum pooping I totally recommend restoralax...it might be called miralax in the states. Colace won't do it if you haven't pooped in days...take the restoralax every day for a few days and it'll put you back to regular. Best thing I did!!! I was determined to poop day after delivering, and I did but OMG it's so hard to push through that pain!

I've been taking Colace twice a day and miralax every other day, and it seems to be doing the trick. I will be happy when things are more normal down there though and I don't have to freak out if I miss a dose .
I'm finding the PP gas to be even more painful than PP poops. I'm not sure if it is a c-section thing but it's terrible! It was the worst right after when i was still in the hospital but it is still pretty bad even though I'm walking everyday which seems to be the only thing that helps.

Oh girl I hear you!!! I was farting up a storm in the hospital...didn't even care that my roommate could hear me. Mine was really bad for the first week PP seems to have gotten better. Did you find you couldn't hold it in? Like your bum had lost all its muscle tone??

Same! My midwife said something about gas getting "trapped" after c-section and said laying down on my side and changing positions frequently can help. It's worked for me so far.

Yes. This has happened to me both times, but was worse the first time and got trapped up in my shoulders for a few days Laying on the left side really helps, as does standing up straight when standing and walking. Things were a little more bombastic than usual for a couple weeks the first time (I think) before they normalized.
Guys, I just spent 4 days struggling to get my massive oversupply under control, and finally when things went back to normal, LO decides to have a growth spurt. Cluster feeding out of control and my boobs are tapped. The universe played a cruel joke on me.
When did you deliver? March 14th - due date was May 4th.
How did you deliver (vaginal, c-section, etc)? Vaginally
How are you feeling about your delivery? Relieved. I was in the hospital from 20 weeks onward with a placental abruption and each week was a new developmental milestone which increased my son's survival and long term prognosis. 32 weeks was the final 'reach' goal given to me at the beginning and I was relieved we made it that far. I had been anxious about the impeding delivery as my doctors had explained my placenta could fully abrupt at any time which would jeopardize his life and mine and require an immediate c section. He was also a very active baby and constantly changing from head down, to breech to transverse. When labor finally arrived, they did an ultrasound and he was head down so they gave me the ok to attempt a vaginal delivery. Labor took two full days and toward the end he wasn't tolerating the contractions well anymore, so having him come out vaginally, without any major problems, was a tremendous relief.
How is your recovery going? I'm now 8 weeks post partum so my recovery is now much better. However, the first few weeks were grueling. I had second degree tearing due to the speed of the delivery itself and also had very heavy bleeding (it only stopped last week) due various factors including the blood thinners they put me on. I couldn't sit properly for at least ten days. I also developed granulation tissue which needed to be burned off at 3 weeks. If any other ladies find that they get a burning sensation near their stitches when they pee, have your OB check for granulation tissue. Mine was burnt off with silver nitrate which did hurt, but was completely worth it to hasten recovery. They also suspected I had retained product and put me on misoprostol for two days to increase uterine contractions and expel extra tissue.
Any post partum issues or questions for the group? My son was in the NICU for a month and we've now been home for three weeks. His due date was last week so, while I'm 8 weeks PP in some ways, I really feel like I have a two week old in other ways. He's only started to act like a newborn over the last couple weeks (preemies younger than that just sleep all day and have limited ability or energy to breast feed, cry etc). Breastfeeding is a challenge. His little mouth was too small for proper suction so we introduced a nipple shield early on. He's decent (albeit a bit sleepy at times) with eating using the shield but I'd like to transition away from it. It makes breastfeeding such an ordeal.
I currently do the cross body hold where I have his head resting in the crook of my arm on the side he feeds from. This allows my second hand to be free and means I am not hunched into an uncomfortable position. However, I find as soon as I try to feed without the shield, I just can't get him to latch properly in this position or to retain the latch if I do get him on. However, if I hold my breast, and hold his body with my other arm instead, I am hunched over and my arm tends to get tired. Side lying breast feeding hasn't worked at all with my breasts. My breasts just aren't in the right position for him to find them when I lay down this way. Likewise with the semi reclined position. Any other suggestions on a good hold I can use to transition him away from the shield? I will hire a lactation consultant if I can't get the hang of it, but I was hoping to figure it out on my own.
So I'm 2 weeks PP and just passed a golf ball size clot...is that normal? Bad? Do I need to tell my OB? I remember someone saying something about passing clots PP but I can't for the life of me remember if I need to be concerned...?!?!?
Crying in an uber on the way to my OB appt, I miss my baby girl already! I know my H will take amazing care of her while I'm gone and I won't be gone long but boy is this hard.
@ayeshaohara have you been particularly active the last 24 hours? Is it the first clot you've passed? It might be worth calling just to let the doctor know. Better safe than sorry!

Yeah I've been pretty busy the last few days. Quite a bit of walking. Yes first clot I've passed. I think it's probably the activity now that you mention it...I recall someone saying that to me!!
@seasalt123 When I was trying to get my son to nurse in the regular position, I found it helpful to have a) a footstool or something to prop up the leg of the side you're nursing on and b) a thicker pillow than the boppy/ breast friend. I would often just put another pillow under the boppy. That helped bring baby up to my nipple level without me having to bend over or use my arm strength to lift him up. This was like 2.5 years ago, so I may not remember this correctly, but I think I remember our LC telling us to try to keep his body sort of lined up with the nipple when he was learning to latch too? @araecasey might know what I'm talking about.
@seasalt123 have you tried putting him tummy to tummy with you in a crossbody hold? His head can still rest on your arm, and that arm's hand holds his butt or low back. Your other arm is still free to manipulate the breast but facing inward gives a deeper latch for LO.
How did you deliver (vaginal, c-section, etc)? Vaginal
How are you feeling about your delivery? It was fast. The contractions sucked, but I only pushed like once and a half. I felt when his head was coming and then my doctor came in and was like "let's do this!".
How is your recovery going? Well, I had been doing pretty good, initially. Being my second baby, the recovery has been progressing faster. I could walk immediately after. But now, 6 days later, my lower back(mostly on the right side) is absolutely killing me. I seriously don't know what to do. I'm Sure how I've been sitting while breast feeding hasn't helped, but it's so bad out of nowhere. RKO style.
Any post partum issues or questions for the group? Has anyone else been experiencing this aweful back pain? How have you been treating it?
@Myzticsunshine I had the back pain. I took the pain meds they gave me and bought an ice pack that I strapped on. The pain was gone in 2 days
Ya I just took Motrin, which is what they prescribed me. It's easing up a bit, now. But its still pretty uncomfortable. I think I get nervous whenever I feel pain in the lower right side of my back because it brings me back to once upon a time when I had an awefu kidney infection
but it's a releif to know it's possible this is not that haha
So this is fun for anyone whose milk is coming in. I started getting awful body chills, and my own mom demanded to take my temp - 102.4. My husband is on high alert lately and called the doctor. She asked if my milk had come in, and I told her it did the day before (this was 2 days ago). She told me that it's common for women to get a high fever as their milk comes in, and that it should improve in the next few days. Nothing like going from body chills that shake the bed to taking Motrin, getting the chills/fever to calm, then having your confused hormones cause hot flashes for the rest of the night as well as a baby that wants to eat every 2 hours.
I made a thread several months ago about "sleep before the baby comes" and what a crock that is, but even my pregnancy insomnia allowed me to feel more rested more often that what's happening now. I set myself up for that, didn't I?
Anyone else's taste buds change? It's like as soon as LO came I don't want any form of junk food. It's more like I can't even stand the thought of eating chips or ice cream or anything remotely bad. Mind you I didn't typically eat these things regularly before she was born but I still wasn't completely turned off by the idea of eating a few potato chips. DH bought me a bag of my favorite chips and last night after eating two I made him finish the rest. I just really wanted an apple and a raw carrot instead.
Another weird one is that I have been so weepy lately. I just bust out in tears and get really miserable for an hour at a time. I'm not sure whats going on . . . Hormones I guess?

I feel the same way about junk food! When pregnant I couldn't get enough candy and sweets, now it's like eh. I've had a few pieces of candy but before I would have (and did on a few occasions) sit and eat the whole package!
