We just found out today that we are expecting a little baby girl! Names were so difficult for my little boy, but i think we may actually already agreed on Clarke...we are trying it out this weekend.
Do you ladies have any suggestions on middle names? I tend to go for longer middle names. My Son is Quinn Alexander.
Before i knew boy or girl i was thinking Elizabeth for the middle name, but i don't really like how Clarke Elizabeth sounds. Any thoughts?
@erinmarie86 have you considered Lark? Clark is straight up masculine, I'd never think it was a girl. That said, the endingredients sound to both Clark and Lark makes flow really difficult.

Clarke makes me think of The 100!

@MojieJo my 6.5 year old son is Logan James....I actually liked Logan from Veronica Mars and Gilmore Girls and James is my husband's name...I have girls that are Cadence Colleen, MaKenna Grace (twins) and another girl Kiera Faith...which is said cure-ra not key-era
@runningisrad i must admit we watch the show! lol...which is why i thought of it for a little girl. I also liked the name Lincoln...but my husband said no to that (if it was a boy or girl). But he seems to be ok with Clarke
@mommato4blessings Like I said, it's a nice name! I'm not a big fan of traditional boys' names, but it's a combo I'd have considered myself under different circumstances since it flows well.
I just can't get behind it (personally) because all I can think of when I hear it is Wolverine. Not judging you for choosing it, by any means. Especially since you have such a good reason for choosing James as a middle name. It's just not a combo I would use is all.
I'm sorry if I unintentionally offended you with my comment. It's just that I see that combo a lot for boys and my mind always goes straight to the X-Men thing.
We won't find out for a few weeks whether we are having a boy or girl, but we have lots of girl names in mind but haven't agreed on any boy's names. Our top girl name is Lailey (its the name of our favourite winery in Niagara and I have always thought its so beautiful). We also like Clementine, but people have been very vocal about how much they don't like that name, so if we choose that, we probably won't tell anyone until after she's born and named. Heres some boys names I like, but hubby doesn't like any of them: Holden, Atticus, Bray, Aiden, and Harrison. Our top boy name was Jensen Michael. My MIL suggested Jensen because she found it on an old family tree from my husbands side. Then middle name would be my dads name
@pepper6 We're going with Logan for one of our twins, boy or girl. I love X-Men but didn't pick it because of the association. I picked it because it's a nice name that reflects my heritage.
DH seems to think I did, though, and I know our friends are going to assume so since they've only ever seen Logan as Wolverine's name and they're comic book fans.
I admit that I can't get down with all the people naming their sons Logan James, though. It's a nice name combination that goes together well, but it's Wolverine's name flipped around (his first name is James and his middle name is Logan for those who aren't familiar) and it would bother me, even if most people probably wouldn't make the connection.
I did joke that we should name the other Remy (Gambit), though, since it's another unisex name (in America, anyway) and Gambit is my favorite X-Men character.
With my son, we knew his first name was going to be Charles but it took more time to decide a middle name. At one point my husband, who is very much into comic books, jokingly suggested Xavier. I didn't pick up on the comic book association at first and told him I liked it.
My son is Xavier James and we are not X-men fans lol. I chose it because I really like how it sounds in English and Spanish (Javier). I spent some time in Spain and always thought "Avi" (Ah-vee) was a cute nickname (it's also pronounced Ha-vee). Come to find out, it's also a nickname for Abraham.
We're having a little girl, and I love the nickname Ellie. I thought Eloise was adorable, but DH gave me a hard veto. I think we're now on Elena Juul. Elena because I think it's elegant and can be shortened to Ellie and Juul (pronounced Jewel) because it's a family name. My only concern is people will read it like "Ellen -a" not "Ell-ay-na"
Otherwise my husband and I also agree on Lyla, and Amy.

@homebird - I really like those names, especially Miles Oliver - great sound to it!!
Edited to add: I'm just reading your signature with other kiddos names in there.. all of those sound wonderful together! A nice mixture of classic with a modern feel!
I love reading this thread! I wanted to pop in again and say I am oh so excited to be getting things made off of etsy with my son's name. My parents never did anything special like that for me so I hope he likes it For example, I just had these jungle/safari theme wooden letters made to hang in his nursery. I feel like personalizing it has made this little guy more real for me.
@mom2adoodle I got a ton of monogrammed things as well for my daughter. Her name is visible at least 4 times upon entering her room. Haha. I can't wait to so the same with this baby! (I'm not buying anything with a name on it until we confirm the sex at the a/s).
@mom2adoodle- I decorated large letters of my son's initials last time, and on the E I used sticky little cardboard letters to spell out Emmett. Because we were keeping the name a secret I only hung the last initial and hid the other two in his bureau until the morning we were leaving for the hospital! We have names picked already this time, not sure what we'll order with it on there, but I'll order the same for Emmett!
He also has an LLBean tote with his initials from my husband's coworkers and a backpack with his name on it.. because we just love that kind of stuff
@camichael84 I love it! You're the type of mom I want to be haha. And yeah, well, Harmony claims it's a boy. We have our anatomy scan this Friday so I'm hoping to have the sex double confirmed then. Regardless, the name is not changing. Finley it is.
@AnnaS930 I LOVE the name Emmett. That was a close second for us. We are keeping the name a secret too so I am not allowed to hang anything until baby comes. I keep telling DH I am on it and to trust me that I'll remove the named stuff if anyone sees the nursery but he doesn't trust me lol probably for the best. But yes, I agree on loving that kind of personalized stuff. DH has a bunch of things from his childhood with his name and it's just sweet. I imagine MIL ordering the things with love and care and time spent picking things out as it wasn't as easy as typing an order on Etsy back then.
@mom2adoodle- My sister and brother-in-law stayed at our house while I was in labor. Right before I started pushing I looked at my husband panicked because I had left the letters up on the wall and had sent my sister into the nursery to grab something we'd forgotten before coming to the hospital. He just laughed, like - it's too late now! The kid is going to be here within the hour and the name announced anyway. Strange things we think of in a moment of stress.
She never noticed that the letters were all up with the name since she was used to just the last initial hanging for a few months And thank you for loving Emmett - we have received nothing but compliments. Finley is a great choice!!
@mom2adoodle Haha. Well, I wouldn't question a genetic test. It's going to be 100% accurate. I do question my elective, but honestly, my first statement after DD was born was "She is so beautiful. Wait, she is a girl, right?" That was after having it confirmed at 4 ultrasounds that she was a girl. So I take some convincing, I guess.
Finley is a good name for a boy or girl. But I'm sure you're having a boy.
@camichael84 I'm hoping you're right! lol. I read that the few times DNA is incorrect is if the sample had more of the mom's chromosomes so that the baby's chromosomes were not recognized. So it's assumed it's a girl. Since mom is a girl. Apparently a false positive of a boy is virtually impossible unless I randomly have Y chromosomes in my blood (which stranger things have happened I suppose). So let's hope it's a boy! lol.
@mom2adoodle- TLC will make a 1-hour special about you if you do happen to carry a Y chromosome.. they eat that shit up on that channel.. and I for some reason always get suckered in to watching it!
@AnnaS930 LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm starting to analyze my body now (small breasts, lean build, tall, like a lanky boy) and am freaking myself out hahahahahah
Having BOY #5!! Don't have a name yet. Last name Clark. Tyler Anthony; Brendon Warren (Warren DH middle name ); Dakota Jay (D.J.); Noah Adam, (DH first name Adam) My dad has been ill & recently put on hospice, he doesn't have a middle name but his first name is Gilbert so i was thinking Gil for a middle name? ? DH late father was named Sidney. I have tried to put those 2 names together but nothing sounds good. DH has said don't worry bout using his dad's name since I've already used Warren which was his dad's middle name to. So i need help for a first name that matches Gil
What do you all think of having two middle names?? DH wanted Leila as a first name, and I really want Grace as a middle name. However, as an ode to my 90 year old grandmother, mother, and MIL (all very Catholic), I was going to add Maria = Leila Grace Maria. Y/N?

Spell it Elaina?
@SaraJuul didn't you say part of your or your DH's family was Danish? Just wanted throw out there that Elena is the Scandinavian spelling (which I'm sure you know) so if you are paying omage to that I say stick with that spelling. Elaina is super pretty but will not be pronounced correctly in Denmark whereas Elena will be pronounced correctly in both places.
Not sure how connected you are to the country but thought I'd mention it.
@frogdog06- for some reason I like the flow better if you switched the middle names. Leila Maria Grace (I think it's the Maria Grace that I like the flow of) sounds better to me, but that's just my opinion!
I'm so jealous that all of you are this locked on with your names! We're nowhere close (at least we know it's a girl). The only names we agree on are in the top 10 names already this year and I'd love for Little Miss to not have a super popular name. *Backstory - my name is Jennifer and so was almost everyone else in the 70s and 80s. In my bootcamp class there were 7 Jennifer's! Three of which had my same middle name; Jennifer Marie
We were set on Anastasia as part of the name if we have a girl, but I'm starting to lean toward Elaine as a middle name... It was my middle name pre-marriage (and my grandmother's name), and I think it sounds better with both girls' names we are debating between (Adeline and Avalon). Ahhhh. Choosing our daughter's name was so easy.
