Re: Weekly randoms (4/11)

  • @mrscorker I saw that article, too and it's bunk. I mean, I'm sure there is some truth in it regarding rising popularity, but it's literally based on google searches for names. That's hardly indicative of what people are actually naming their children.

For example, the number 7 boy name is Milo. It did peak in popularity in 2014... at #310 (1,109 out of 1.89 M) between Dominick and Dalton. If you still love your name I wouldn't give up on it from this!

Yeah, I'm going back and forth because even if it's rising in popularity nationally, that doesn't mean it's popular in my area. We'll see if I can get DH to agree on any back ups and maybe we'll wait to meet our LO before deciding.

After all this, it will probably be a boy so it won't matter. Lol

We're moving to South Carolina in July! I'm excited and terrified at the same time. So much to do! Plus I'll be uncomfortably pregnant for the cross-country trek. New doctor. New place to live. Insurance?  Maybe. And I don't know ANYONE in that entire state.
@br0co1ii Where in SC? You can PM me if you want. I live in NC and depending on where you're moving to, I'm very close to SC :)
    I'm in NC too :)
  • Question.. Do you think it's wrong to ask for an ultrasound at my next appointment? I had one at 12 weeks but the baby didn't move at all (tech looked for 20 minutes) and although she said it was normal, she kept trying and pushing to make them move. Ever since then, it's been on my mind! What do you think?
  • @kmalls yep Orlando and yep I'm going (so I hope that wasnt' in reference to me @agogo1). I just am one of those people who let others influence me too much, so I was only commenting that I hated reading the post because it made me nervous (even though we've made up our mind to go).

@fitlady21 I see no harm in asking. Worst case scenario they tell you no, but you never know unless you ask.

@fitlady21 - I'm not sure how lax your OB's office is about that stuff, but mine probably wouldn't accommodate a full ultrasound by request. They MIGHT do a quick glance via mini-ultrasound but I would think they'd be way more apt to check for a HB via Doppler (which they do at every appt anyway). I feel like as long as a HB can be heard they'll be satisfied. I totally get your concern, though.
  • My other random is that I think the ladies on the BNB are getting sick of me. Haha. I know it's early, but DH and are STRUGGLING so hard with a girl baby name. I posted on there a few times to get opinions only to find out DH wouldn't consider the name. I should probably hold off until him and I reach some sort of agreement.
  • @fitlady21 , if it were me, I totally would.  Even if it's just for your peace of mind.  When is your next appointment?

My random thought is that right now most of us are entering our 2nd tri....we are all so excited to post belly pics... my sister gets an update from me with weekly belly pics... I wonder how I'll feel about it at like 35 weeks.  Hahaha.  Will I be like, "ugh, I can't do pictures.  i look like sh*t" ?
  • @MRSCORKER look at the social security website for a list of names, I feel like that list is pretty reliable. Although, last I looked it didn't include 2016.
  • @fitlady21 I've been thinking the same thing. I've been taking Zofran during this pregnancy and I am dying to know if baby is okay. I took it with my first pregnancy and my son turned out perfect, but I wonder all the time if this baby is has heart issues or a cleft palate (which are the potential side risks, even though they are very rare). My last U/S was 7 weeks and the next one is 20 weeks and I just don't know if I can wait that long to make sure she is okay!

  • My random is.... I work with two other girls, I love them but they literally eat NOTHING all day. I'm not even exaggerating... some days they literally eat nothing between 9-5. And when they do eat it's always just a small side salad.

And here I am microwaving my baked ziti loaded with cheese. Yummm.. I have no shame. Baby is hungry!

This was me pre-pregnancy.  Adderall makes my desire to eat disappear.  Maybe they are on drugs. Hahaha.

My diet has been pretty atrocious since BFP. Today I had lunch from Whole Foods buffet. Roasted veggies, tomato, basil & mozzarella, and a salad. Felt really good about myself.

Then, I came home, got DS down for a nap, and made myself a big ol' pancake. Oh, then proceeded to clean all of the dishes so I wouldn't be busted by DH. Such shame... But, I should've known better than to have a low carb lunch.

Piggybacking off of this: I really don't understand people who claim they "forget" to eat. I've never in my life just straight-up forgotten to eat. I basically plan my days around meals. Have I made the decision NOT to eat for whatever reason? Sure. But I've never understood people who are like "I realized I totally forgot to eat yesterday!" How does that even happen.
Never have I ever forgotten to eat. I give the same side eye to people who claim such. Especially when they say they forgot to eat, "all day." No way. Didn't get around to eating lunch until late afternoon because you were tied up at work? Plausible. But, definitely not "all day."

  • Even before BFP I had really low blood pressure and sugar. If I didn't eat, particularly lunch, I would be going hangry and then rapidly insensible, possibly unconscious. Who are these people?
  • @kmalls and @f47 trust me I never forget to eat, but I can honestly say in the first few weeks after DD was born, I truly sometimes forgot to eat. Between sleep deprivation and just the stress of being a FTM and post-baby blues, I would go most of the day without eating. I lost the weight quickly, but then it all came back on as I got into the swing of things and started eating normally again ; p
  • This is really random, but I'm so obsessed right now with the new musical Hamilton. I saw the preview (?) they did on the Grammys, and then downloaded the soundtrack. It is amazing, and now I can't stop reading reviews and watching youtube clips. I can't wait to actually see it live, and really hope I'm not disappointed.

When DS was born it was hard to eat and I often skipped meals in favor of sleep, but I don't think I ever forgot. I just consciously DIDN'T due to too much going on or sheer exhaustion!
  • @annabenanna  It's not until the 29th. I'll be 16w1day then so I'll at least ask!
  • @kmalls @F47 @celette482 Q: Who are these people? A: My husband  :| I don't understand. He will literally forget to eat all fucking day. And then he's psychotic when he gets home (go figure). I've worked with him for years and I blame it on a mild obsessive disorder. He can't stop doing something until it's finished, and then he immediately starts something else. I've known him since college and I used to (still do, actually) bring him food while he was working because it would never occur to him that he needed to eat. Fifteen years later it still doesn't. It is not a healthy way to live.
  • Also, anyone obsessing over baby names: I'm loving the Nametrix Baby Names app. The full version was $3 and it aggregates all the SS names and has name popularity heat maps. I could play with it all day.

  • haha seriously.. I HAVE to eat. Before pregnancy and especially now. During pregnancy it's seriously every 2 hours.. before I always had to have at least lunch and usually an afternoon snack, too. Maybe it's blood sugar for me, too.

On a side note, @nlane0723 I've always wanted to try Adderall because I have the WORST concentration/memory issues and the added bonus of not being hungry all the time makes it sound appealing ha! Maybe after I'm done breastfeeding this baby. My brother takes it and says it helps him a lot.

  • I'm with you all on the Zika threads. I mean C'MON! Search the board and freaking google.

My random is that we went to Disneyland yesterday with some friends and their two little boys, who are like 3 and 5 and it was exponentially better than normal. We went on It's a Small World and they were mesmerized by EVERYTHING. I don't have a ton of experience with kids, so it was amazing to see just how magical everything was in their eyes. I am SO EXCITED to do these things with our kid someday!

  • @kmalls I'm with you, I've literally never forgotten to eat, I'm like the opposite and wish I could forgot sometimes lol. Including now when I'm puking like 5 times a day, I'm still painfully aware of wanting to eat, even though I know it'll mean throwing up.
  • It's days like today when I want to go home, draw a hot bath, and guzzle a bottle of wine. But I can't drink wine and hot bubble baths are frowned upon. How the heck are you supposed to unwind when pg?
  • @kmalls I have sincerely forgotten to eat/forgot that I hadn't eaten. I have heated up food in the microwave, forgot it was in there and then assumed I already ate it only to find it in there later. I blame it on being a super swamped parent. I have to remind myself feeding the kids =/= me eating.
  • So I haven't started any Zika threads, but I do live in Texas and it does scare me and I wish I had more information. It doesn't help that a lot of articles purposefully fearmonger. I saw one on Facebook recently that said "Zika is worse that we thought" and they said it was "already found in 30 states" (without saying which ones or how frequently). Also, my husband thinks it's a ridiculous fear (rightly or wrongly) so there's no way he's going to let me spray him down with bug spray or anything so I'm going to have to stress more about that.

  • Guilty little secret here.. I have had to cave in on the bubble baths to relax. After all the morning/night/all day long sickness and nausea I've experienced over the last  6 weeks taking a quick *warm*  bath before bed was my only relief and motivator to get me through the work day.
