Can contractions happen on one side more than the other? I've been feeling pains in my right lower pelvis all day that have been coming and going. They don't last long so I'm probably just reaching for possibilities.
Um LO has been going crazy in the past two hours. I'm trying to sleep but he just won't stop moving. This has never happened. He usually calms down after a few mins once he gets comfortable...could this mean anything? No real contractions just some back pain. It's starting to freak me out. The last thing I ate was about 3 hours ago.
I'm having a baby today! Went in because of regular contractions often uncomfortable to mildly painful. Since things went quick with DS I didn't want to risk anything. Things were different this time and I was not dilating very quickly. They made us walk around but again only measuring at a 3. Doctor decided to keep me and break my water. Again, things weren't moving along despite many regular and painful contractions (4 cm two hours later). So now I'm on oxytocin and I got a walking epidural. I feel very relaxed and am resting, and hoping baby makes his way down and entrance in the world in the next couple hours.

Just a quick update. So L&D said not to worry with the crazy movement- only if I notice a decrease. I had some pink discharge during this time which added to my worries but they said it was fine. Water still not broken (darn!) and LO calmed down after walking around a bit. My back pain (back labor?) continues with the occasional contractions.
@kerinsara I've had that a couple times too where it felt like strong cramps on just one side. I think it can start on one side, but it will spread throughout your whole abdomen once they pick up and you're really in active labor. Could be early labor/warm-up contractions though?

I'm not an expert but my understand was that baby is generally LESS active leading up to/during labor?

Yeah idk I would think the same thing but I've heard more mixed things. I was concerned about distress because of how crazy he was. He has never been that crazy for that long especially at night. I'm hoping it was just him getting into position since he has been sunny side up lately.
@pinottoparenthood Thanks for the help! They've been coming and going all day/night, but nothing in a pattern in seems. Wish my water would just break (as I'm sure we all do) so I could get some definitive answers.

I am so right there with you! Hate that I'm most likely going to go overdue AGAIN... but just trying to remember that baby is healthy and he will be here soon!

Mine were higher up and more uncomfortable on my right side, where her feet were. I felt my abdomen and the whole thing contracted, I just felt it differently in different places.
I had an NST today at 5 days overdue and baby sounds great, but no contractions. I'm scheduled to be induced Wednesday. My favorite midwife was at the office, and even though I wasn't scheduled to see her she came in to see me. She knows how much I don't want to be induced and asked if I wanted her to check me and do a membrane sweep. YES! Turns out I'm just about at a 2 (up from the 1 last week!) very soft, and baby is ready to go. She was successfully able to sweep my membranes, recommended we have sex tonight, and she has high hopes she might see me at the hospital tomorrow on baby's own terms. In any case, I left my appt today in MUCH better spirits than my 40 week check last week, even if I do need to have the induction. My midwife is awesome

Apparently our LO has stubbornly been refusing to grow (AND doesn't really want to move much today) so induction has been scheduled for tomorrow morning at 39+6. Freaking out a bit...but also so excited!
Been having pretty good contractions for the past few hours. Nothing unbearable just really uncomfortable. Awaiting more consistency or pain before leaving home. Hoping this little guy isn't teasing.
Went in for my 38 week appointment this morning.. I was 2 cm and had my membranes stripped. I've been having really horrible headaches, and my BP is slightly elevated so my doctor made the decision to induce me tomorrow at 38+4. We definitely weren't expecting to be induced this week so we are kinda freaking out but also really excited! My mom's 50th birthday is tomorrow so we are hoping for a smooth, quick induction and an awesome birthday present for my mom.
Had my last appointment today at 38+4. I'm still about 2.5 cm dilated and LO is measuring about 8lb 4oz. C section scheduled for Monday (@ 39+2) with no sign of him coming before then. He has a big tummy and broad shoulders (like daddy). OB says it's a good thing I'm doing a section because he might be too big for me and risk for shoulder dystocia. So glad it's almost time! My body feels like it's gonna explode! Oh and my face finally decided to catch up with my weight gain
Just had my "last" appointment at 39+5 and I am 3cm and 80% effaced! Ive been getting what I want to believe is bloody show today too, except of all days, TODAY they ordered an NST, blood test, and 24hr urine test thingy because my levels in protein and blood pressure were higher than usual. A bit discouraging because Friday is my due date and I felt so close but now it feels so far. Hopefully baby comes before I have to turn that pitcher of pee in!!!
Ok, so I had been having contractions 10 min apart for three hours so I went to the hospital. They hooked me up and baby is doing great, except they sent me home until contractions are 3 to 5 min apart instead. My cervix didnt do me any favors either by not dilating past 3cm -.- This is pain!!!!!!! But hopefully this means baby will be here on either his due date (today) or the day after. Pray for me I already feel wimpish
@MariaSara1134 I'm sending up lots of prayers for you! You can totally do this!
I am 8 days overdue so I am currently being induced. The gel has been in for half an hour and I already am feeling lots of cramps. Just so ready to meet this little one and getting so excited to finally find out if it's a boy or a girl!
Also, I am so thankful for my amazing husband. He's right by my side and so sweet and kind. I don't know what I would ever do without him. Seeing how excited he is to be a dad and when I finally get to see him hold our baby for the first time is absolutely melt my heart.

It's funny how you guys actually remember how to explain your labor pains I went into active labor so quickly that if I had to describe my pain it would be something like "like someone gave you an electric shock that made you scream and feel like you can't breathe!!!"

same here. I really didn't believe my husband would be so amazing with her after how things were when I was preg. i cried so many tears of joy when I realized how much he loves her and wants to be a part of taking care of her
Well add me to the list. Felt not very good all day and was having some cramping and back pain on and off. Went home to lie down after work and after a couple hours the cramping stopped. Nothing consistent to be timed or even rhythmic. Location varied. Well we decided to come to L&D when they started up again and the pain got stronger and by that time I was hooked up to the monitor contractions were every 2-3 minutes lasting about a minute. Although I'm not dilating much OB decided to admit me. Currently Being prepped for my RCS which will happen in about 20-30 min I am told.
Failed a 24 hour urine test, so we got sent to the hospital at 8pm Friday night for official induction. Had balloon placed at the dr office about two hours prior to that. The first few hours were extremely painful with balloon and pitocin but seem to have leveled off. Hoping once balloon comes out at 6am and pitocin gets turned off that I can labor in the tub for a bit and progress on my own without more drugs.
Was woken up by painful contractions wrapping all the way around this morning - they're not super consistent, but I'm hopeful! I'd love so much to NOT have to be induced tomorrow...
Honestly not sure whether my water broke or whether I just peed myself, or both. Definitely thought I felt a pop, but she may just have punched me in the bladder or something? At the risk of TMI, whatever happened cleaned out pretty good chunk of my mucus plug (which I thought I'd gotten rid of a week or more ago). No contractions, and baby's still flopping around in there contentedly, so I guess we'll see.

Mucous plug, to me, is like continuous vagina snot. Just when I think there can't possibly be more..
Last week my doc said my cervix has started opening and today I lost my mucus plug. Hopefully doc will tell me how much i'm dialated when I go in on Monday. Guess she'll be here this week
@beccamccann Thank you!!! It was the hardest thing I've ever done in my life but our Benjamin is home with us now he came at 8:54pm, on his due date! Who does that?? Lol. I wanted to put up a birth announcement but this app stopped letting me open threads with a bunch of pics oh well. Anyways Here's a pic maybe it'll help calm other's nerves!! If I made it through that, then you guys can too, trust me!
Hi ladies! Congrats to all of you that have had your little ones already!
I am starting to get anxious. At my 39 week appt, the doc said that I was barely dilated 1cm and my cervix was still high and hard. Little guy was still floating high and not wanting to drop. He wants to try to induce just using the gel and not pitocin, and if that doesn't work, it's off for a c-section. He doesn't want to go past 40 weeks because little guy is already estimated over 9lbs.
I lost my plug a few days ago and have been cramping with some brownish discharge (bloody show?) so hopefully things are progressing on their own.
I'm due Thursday, so any good vibes and prayers sent our way would be greatly appreciated! Good luck to all you mommas!
I love seeing all the new momma! I'm so ready! My mucous plug has finally slowly started coming out but my "bloody show" isn't very showy. Just brown spotting and small amounts of clear gooey stuff every time I use the toilet. I want this to be more of a dramatic sign but I know it could still be awhile!
I think it's crazy I spent the first trimester terrified of finding blood when I used the loo. Now I'm excited about the prospect of a bloody show. Pregnancy is so weird.

PS... totally unrelated but I finally figured out that FX means fingers crossed... ha ha ha
I had a midwife and a NST appointment yesterday, and they made me schedule another one for next week, just in case. Kind of a bummer
