Had a membrane sweep at 39 weeks exactly this morning. Now my dogs are freaking out every time I come in the room. One (a 50 pound hound dog) keeps trying to climb in my lap and nuzzle my stomach. He hasn't paid any attention to the belly this whole pregnancy, so fingers crossed this means the sweep worked, and LO will be here soon!
I'm 1cm and 80% at 37+2. My BP has been a little high since last week, and I've been feeling like crap so my doctor put me on partial bed rest. I don't have to be laying down at all times, but he does want me working from home until I go into labor. I guess the contractions I've been having are the real thing instead of just BH.
Just got back from the doctor, an ultrasound showed my amniotic fluid was at a 6. She said she wanted it to be at a 10, and that they induce at 5 because that's officially "too low". I had mentioned to her that I felt sick and threw up last night, so she gave me 24 hours to go home, hydrate, and try to bring my levels back up on my own. Then I have a repeat US tomorrow afternoon.
I'm 36 weeks and a few days, so while I would love to meet my baby tomorrow... I know another few weeks are what's truly best for him.
Has this happened to anybody? Were you able to get your fluids back up?
I'm also concerned that this was my last ultrasound. What if his fluid levels drop again and I don't know about it? It feels like we just stumbled on this info coincidentally bc I happened to have my 36week, final ultrasound today.
@Missingchampagne no experience with low fluid but I would think they would monitor you more via US now that this has been discovered or at least you can request it. My OB has been checking it every week for a few weeks now.

With DD I had borderline low AFI (6.5) at 35 weeks and was able to get it up to between 8-9 the next few two weeks by dramatically increasing my fluid intake. Think peeing every half hour, but enough to keep baby in
Well today definitely has not gone to plan. Went to the ob this morning and was completely closed...was told i would probably deliver past my due date. However. I had two high BP ratings while there and was sent to triage to be monitored. All my ither labs came back fine but bp stayed high.
Now I'm sitting here in L&D on citocek (sp?) until I get induced. I'm on my second dose and have been told I'm half a cm and still long.
I'm going in in the morning for a scheduled c section at exactly 39 weeks. I was hoping to have a natural birth from the start, but this little one decided to get crazy and has the cord wrapped around his/her neck 3 times. Thankfully everything looked excellent on the US, just baby can't get untangled to move head down. To all you mommas laboring good luck!!
Ugh. 39 weeks, second "membrane sweep" today. Baby boy is quite literally riding my nerves! He's so low when he hiccups I get sharp pains down my hips. went to L&D two days ago because I was positive my water broke.. Nope! Just some excess discharge. They asked me if I wanted to induce today, but I was nervous and said no. We were instructed to walk, squat, and have lots of sex! I'm at 3 cm and 80% effaced. Come on baby boy, you can't stay in forever!

I drank 12 glasses of water today, I may drink more before bed. I would be beside myself if tomorrow's ultrasound doesn't show a rise in fluids, I'm supposed to have four more weeks to go! And they are weeks he needs.

Just remember, either way, you've made it a long way! 36 weeks is earlier than is "best" for the average baby, but if there's a medical need (like low fluid) it can be more than enough. 36 weeks can mean a couple extra days in the hospital or it can mean absolutely nothing (other than maybe a little baby). You've succeeded Mom, whether you deliver at 36 weeks, on your EDD or 42 weeks.
Well ... Turns out I've been leaking water all day and I'm being induced as we speak. Soon as the fern test came back positive they admitted me and hooked my ass up to pitocin . Not happy about that. I did not want pitocin. also it's not my dr on call tonight so there's that. Im laying here disappointed and angry. Also not ideal
Went to my 39 week apt today and had high BP and protein in my urine. We were sent to the hospital and after a couple of hours of observation my bloodwork came back good but still have protein in my urine and BP is borderline. It's enough for them to keep me and I'm now waiting for a room in L&D to start my induction.

Eek. I'm so sorry you had to get pit against your wishes. Hope baby decides to come quick and easy!

Seems to be a common thing today. I'm in L&D since 2:30pm and now its 4am. Currently on my 4th dose of cytotec. Last check I was still only a fingertip and thinned out a little. This is gonna be a loooong process.

You made it so much longer than expected though...still a win. Hopefully by the time you read this your little girl will be in your arms and it will all have been worth it!

All that matters is that you and baby are safe! Good luck!

@BeatboxBaby I'm on my second round of cytoctec, they gave me the folly balloon last night but it feel out and only got me to 2cm. This has been rough for me so far and I was up throughout the night and early morning with nauesa and vomitting. Hoping things start to pick up soon
@MissingchampagneI wish that I could give you some of my fluid, I measured at 34 on Monday! I hope that everything goes well with you and the little one!

Wow holy crap that's a lot of fluid. I just had my follow up ultrasound and after 14 cups of water I'm still at 6.8 - waiting to hear what the doctor feels about it.
Well, I was sitting on the couch and my water broke today at 39+2. Since I'm GSB-, I'm not going in to the hospital quite yet, but we should have our LO within the next 24-36 hours!
I know I don't post much, so you're probably like "who the hell are you" ....but just needed a sounding board.
36 weeks 4 days Been contracting non stop for the past 2 days Also have a kidney infection
This is not fun
I know she needs to bake a few more weeks but I'm so freaking miserable with this infection + contraction pain that I would not be terribly upset if it all went down sooner rather than later.
39 weeks here. Still at 1cm dilated for the last 3 weeks - no progress. Dr says due to the lack of progress, she's giving me a 50/50 chance that I'll have to have a c-section. We're inducing next Tuesday unless a miracle happens before then. Crossing my fingers baby decides to cooperate at induction and decides to allow me to deliver vaginally.
Just had another appointment, I'm dilated to a 2, I've been having lots of BH and cramps, and I gave her permission to strip my membranes!! So if our Benjamin is ready, maybe he'll be here sooner than the 15th
Went in for my follow up ultrasound today, his fluid levels had only gone from a 6.5 to a 6.8 despite 14 cups of water in 24 hours. My doctor said we probably will not make it to 39 weeks before induction, and wants to see me every 2 days for monitoring.
I feel safer with the additional monitoring, plus I'm seeing another specialist they referred me to for a second opinion tomorrow, but I'm still really weirded out. I know the weekends between appointments will be rough. I'm already at the point of "please just take him out, he's safer out there where I know he's not running out of something he needs"... But my practice is a very babycentric OB/midwife facility that will always opt to give baby more time than give in to mom's freakouts. I love and hate that about them.
Officially sitting in L&D triage waiting on my doctor. The nurses think I'll be admitted and started on pitocin for induction soon. Not what we planned and she's a few days early, but oh well! Can't wait to meet her.
Going in tomorrow night for gel to be induced Friday morning. I should have never looked up induction stories on Google. I hope it goes smoothly, and I hope I get to finally my little boy on Friday
Just got the softening cream about an hour ago they plan pitocin in the am. so anxious I can't sleep and dh is snoring away. I may take them up on the ambien.
@AmadorRose sounds like we're in the same boat (my induction started a few hours after yours). Trying to hold off on getting any pain mess until I'm further along but these contractions are a bitch
