Well, ladies. I spent 30 hours at home with contractions. Varying from moderate to horrid with a TON of back pain. Arrived at the hospital around 5 this evening. Water broke just after I got here. Not progressing much bc baby is face up and huge. Just started with pitocin.
BTW, anyone who goes natural is officially my hero. I was begging for an epi by the time I got here.
Looking at an April 3 bday for this one. One day shy of 40 weeks.
@thaisac1 did he end up turning for you? I believe the last I read he was still transverse..
Yes head down, although his body is transverse on my upper belly... Butt on the left, legs bunched on the right.
Its now been 12h of what has been called false labor and nothing is better.... Contractions every 4 min, now lasting 45-50s and stronger than earlier. Ugh.

Good luck!!!
I was thinking the same about ladies who choose natural births... I'm supposedly in false labor and would have an epidural if I could! This stuff is real!
So my water is leaking I have to return to the hospital in 24 hours to be induced if active labor doesn't start on its own. I've been having very irregular strong contractions for about 24 hours now. I'm hoping they become more regular on their own so I don't have to be induced.. But we'll see!
Good luck to all ladies starting labor and also those in limbo and/or false labor!
Well guys, I think labor is imminent for me, I got the most reliable sign ever!!! ...my dog started acting REEEEALLY funny, won't leave my side, smelling me all over. That means something, right?

Yes!!! My dog did this too when I was in labor, she wouldn't leave my side! Don't mind the hazed expression, at the time I wasn't exactly thrilled my DH was snapping pics for posterity with contractions at 3 min apart lol. So glad he did!
My kitty peed outside the box for the first time in her whole life this morning.., like not even in the same room. But I am being induced tonight... If I can't get it started before then.
@mrsmtothek I have actually read they can sense the changes, so I don't doubt it's possible. But as intuitive as dogs can be, I'm not putting any stock in it right now. I really had my hopes up for yesterday being little missy's birthday, and was sorely disappointed. So the only thing I'm trusting at this point is regular contractions or my water breaking...

I hope your dog is more intuitive than mine are - Athena and Phoebe look at me like this all the time but they're just AWs.

My silky terrier has been doing this my entire pregnancy, so if I go into labor I think she may just spontaneously combust. We are at the point now that when I shower, I get out and find that she has made a little camp with all her toys in the bathroom while waiting for me. I'm hoping the other two dogs do something to show me labor is incoming, because Misty is clearly just an emotional wreck.
They've been doing this for a few weeks now. The grey one usually keeps to herself and doesn't really play much with the other cat (boy). I hope this means LO is coming soon!
Both our dogs have been acting more sympathetic to me lately. Yesterday our pit refused to leave my side. This morning our lab, who worships DH, was all about getting attention from me. She is never like that. However they had no problems leaving me when he told them he was going down to the farm. I am guessing they were just being AWs....unfortunately
@imrachellea The black one, Stormy, usually is by DH's side, but she's been getting more and more clingy as the pregnancy progresses. Achy uterus today has me hoping they can sense something...
I am in awe of anybody who posts in this (or any) thread during active labor. I had to email my boss between contractions to tell him I would be missing my last day of work and give some important info for my sub, and even with DH's help it took forever to compose a 4 sentence email. Props to those who manage to do it, it's exciting to read!
Well, here I am... Checked into my room. They start induction tomorrow morning. I came in early to have my cervix ripened, but they might not have to now because I'm dilated 3-4cm. My Braxton hicks look regular, but I don't know... My mom thinks I'm in labour.lol... I wish!
all this talk about pets make me miss my Luna kitty kitty!
This is my second child. 40 weeks 0 days today. Four days ago I was 2cm, 70% effaced, measuring 39 weeks. Having lots of BH all day and all night. I have an ultrasound on Wednesday, NST test at my next appointment, which is Friday. I am wishing I had two appointments this week, and didn't have to wait until Friday since I am past my due date. My daughter was born at 42 weeks (natural delivery) at a birth center. I am hoping to deliver there again, but that means I have to wait to go into labor naturally. Next week they will talk about induction at 41 weeks. Just the waiting game is wearing me out (plus the pelvic pressure and pressure on my rear aren't fun either!)
Has anyone else experienced sharp stabbing pains in their cervix/vagina? I've been having these for a few days and they are so painful that they take my breath away. In addition, I have had diarrhea and haven't been able to keep food down. My contractions have been about 8-10 minutes apart lasting for 45s. I'm 38 weeks so hoping that this is the real thing!
@goffytiff I have! It feels like hes so low he's scraping my cervix sometimes, but the past couple days it's feeling lower and I actually had sharp pains so bad I could barely continue walking. I won't be having my dilation checked until Wednesday but I'm 38 weeks and 3 days so I can't really say much else other than good luck... I haven't had any other symptoms or regular contractions. I'm excited for you!
@goffytiff@MariaSara1134 that stabbing pain sounds like lightning crotch. Mine got worse as the baby got lower. Very painful at times depending on how much he moves.
It's probably just BH, but I started to feel some contractions yesterday (Sunday) at 37 weeks. It started with lower back pain then wrapped around to the front with cramp-like pain. I haven't timed anything yet, because it doesn't seem to be consistent enough. My BP has been a little high when I've checked it the last few days, too. I go to the doctor tomorrow morning so I'm anxious to see what he has to say!

So it looks like we will be meeting our LO soon. I went to the neonatal specialist this morning and her fluid has dropped, but she is still doing great. He talked to my OB and they discussed it and decided we could induce today just to be on the safe side instead of monitoring it and risking it dropping quickly.
So I am still at my OB (our building is attached to the hospital) and they are going to start the bulb to get my dilation above a 2 (it's right under a 2 now), then we can transfer to L&D and get the rest of everything going!
I am wondering now if after my cervical check I may have lost some fluid my contractions stopped and I bled for like 3 days. the morning after the painful cervical check I had a bit of fluid in my undies but it stopped so I didn't follow it up.
On my way to L&D after high BP readings and another bad lab report for my 24 hr urine test; also having crazy swelling in hands, feet and a little in my face. OB will be scheduling my induction... could be today, tomorrow...who knows. I'm just really out of it right now. My mind is going a trillion miles per hour....

LO is measuring 7lb 10 at 37+2 weeks. I dilated to 2.5 cm. He's at -2 and OB says he's not lower due to him facing forward. C section scheduled for April 18 if he doesn't come sooner. Contractions have decreased

This sucks, but I'm glad it's going to be over soon! Good luck and keep us posted!
