  • So, being a FTM with zero experience in car seats, is the best bet to take it to the fire department and make sure it's installed correctly? Also, I joined the pp fb car seat group, thanks for posting it @fishwife799

I would search through the CSFTL website they link on their fb page for a licensed tech to see to make sure you have a correct install. The fire department checks have good intentions, but aren't always up to date on current information. I have seen so many posts of people going there and being told things that are flat out wrong and potentially very dangerous.

  • Oh I have another "random" question/s. What time of birthing classes did ya'll go to/are planning on attending? How did you find them? I've tried l searching for one through my hospital, but all they have is a 1 day 7 hour class on birth and then some. I can't see myself or my husband sitting through a single 7 hour class and retaining much info. I plan on doing more searching and making some calls on Tuesday, but just hoping to find something better to Google than child birth classes.

We went to my B and SIL's for my nieces Bday party last night. It was a good time and the kids played a ton. About 15 min before leaving I heard my D say I'm gonna take my shoes off from the girls' room. We went to leave and we could not find her shoes anywhere!! I looked in every drawer, blanket, toy storage nook and cranny in that bedroom and they have straight up disappeared. She cried most of the way home. SIL just texted me and said she has cleaned their entire house and still can't find the damn things. I am so bummed because it is the first time she has worn those shoes and they are adorable. I will hold out hope that she finds them soon. These are them and I has the sads that they are gone :(

So switch topics and jump back off this train before it gets derailed.

I was surprised so many people got their pumps so early because my insurance won't let you order until a month prior to your due date. I've hypothesised some things: 1) the cuts down on people who order one but unfortunately lose the baby and then have a pump they are stuck with and insurance is out the money (because when did insurance ever care about anything other than being out of the money) 2) maybe it helps with making sure they provide top of the line at home pumps? (That was me being generous) or 3 ) maybe they want to wait until people are closer to birth and have a better idea of whether they want to pump, EBF, or EFF. 4) maybe they are hoping people don't.know about the benefit and buy one for themselves or get one as a gift.

I dunno. I'm waiting for another month and a half before I can order mine. I would like to have it do I can get familiar with it, figure out what I need to buy to go with it, feel a little more confident about it blah blah blah before baby gets here and lack of sleep causes me to forget how to read or reason.
From my understanding, it is so they are not sending pumps out to people who may not ultimately have a viable pregnancy. I was shocked that I was able to get mine so quickly. I had my dr submit the script early so I knew insurance had it ready to go and could mail it out whenever it was approved for them to send it out. I called the DME provider like a week after she sent the script in just to see if it had arrived and she said she would ship it that day. I was so shocked, I don't know if my dr mentioned anything about previous PTL when she mailed the script or if BCBS didn't care. I swear when I was reading about pumps on the BCBS website before they said 32 weeks for shipping pumps.
  • My insurance is the same as @June2016BabyW and won't let me order a pump until 30 days prior to my due date or when the baby is born if he comes before then.

And my dog is like @Sgoldberg247 's.  She like to lay her head on my belly and isn't phased in the slightest when he kicksbor moves.  Hopefully she'll  be that accepting when he is actually here!
  • @mar101483 I looked at what hospitals around me offered, but wasn't pleased. I also found some hypobirthing classes around me via google, but didn't want to pay $350. So I settled on a labor DVD that is set up in a "class" layout. It's called Laugh and Learn Labor and has good reviews. Still waiting on it to arrive! So maybe if you don't like what you are finding, look into some DVDs :) Another one I was looking at is Labor 101.

My husband & I went to a one day class yesterday that ran from 9-3:30...I didn't think it was too bad. We were given some resources that supplement everything we learned in class, so that helped. There were also a lot of hands on things, which I find always makes retaining info easier. My only concerns were frequent trips to the bathroom & being able to eat when I need to...but, being that it's a class for expecting couples they were very very understanding of it.
The class we took was recommended by our OB. At one of our 1st appts with him he gave us a packet full of info, which included different classes. Being so busy during the week, the 1 day class was easier for us to make work than some of the others we found.

  • @mar101483 I want ALL the kitties!!! lol. My cat is a bit on the fat side, so he gets kicked OFF the belly fairly quickly, but will situate himself next to me, with his front half pretty much in the area right below my boobs but about the bump.

  • @mar101483 my H and I are in a comprehensive Bradley course (3hrs every Sunday for eight sessions). It's more extensive then most, you can find them online for your area led by certified childbirth educators.
  • My random is I freakin' can't stand people on the plane. Why it takes forever for someone to find his seat...oh and then realize he forgot something in the bag and needs to get it now right now. You only had half an hour to get ready for boarding. *cue preggers rage*

Gonna look at cute kittie pictures some more to calm me down.
  • My random is this pregnancy insomnia is killing me. I missed church today because of my stupid sleep cycle. I can't seem to fall asleep until about 1 AM and then I wake up at 3 something to pee, then 630 to pee and can't get back to sleep for a couple hours. I guess this is just the body preparing for motherhood! Ugh.

Re: breast pumps. I have Aetna and I called them when I was 24 weeks and they gave me the names of 3 different supply companies to choose from. I chose Edwards healthcare services because they literally take care of everything for you (getting insurance info, calling your doc to get a prescription) and within 3 weeks my pump was delivered to my home. I didn't have to lift a finger or wait till I was further along. I wish it were that easy for everyone.
  • @fishwife799- those shoes are so cute. What a bummer you can't find them :(
  • @Hbamama2B did you see that KicKee pants are on Zulily right now?

  • @CourtJack don't blame you one bit!! No way I would put up with that!
  • @fishwife799 that totally sucks.  They probably got put in a bag or something--something that wouldn't be looked inside of or emptied when cleaning.  My daughter did that with her sunglasses.  It took me ages to find them and they were in one of her purses.

The nesting is strong in me this weekend.  Back to work so I can take advantage of the desire to clean and organize.

  • @CourtJack I do not blame you. He has overstayed his welcome.
  • @CourtJack that was kind of you to let him stay that long. It's time to go...
  • @HBamama2B what is that lovely concoction?! It looks fabulous. I've never heard of poutine!
  • This may be more of a FFFC but poutine looks nasty to me!  I don't like gravy and am not a huge fan of cheese curds so I guess I just don't see the appeal.

Please don't hate me and banish me from the most awesome BMB ever.  Pretty please.
  • Well, thanks ladies...now I've got an insane craving for poutine, lol.

  • My random... I should be focused on the massive amount of homework and then work I need to get done by tonight buuuut we (really "I) finally made progress on deciding the "theme" and decor for the nursery and now all I can do is search for crib sheets I like...whoops!
  • I wish there was a rent a husband service. Mine is an intense work-a-holic a I feel like I could really benefit from such a service. Maybe this could be my get rich quick scheme? There has to be some sort of market for this lol!
  • That poutine, which I've never had, looks amazeballs.

I totally agree... Maybe it tastes better than it looks? Please don't banish me either...

Don't knock it till you try it! I agree with you but it's way better than it looks!

Thanks ladies, now I'm craving it again and would love to try the tots version!

Also, random thought, I'm secretly judging the post that references "gang banged by the 49ers". Not my original words I swear.
